could you say that marc is the best flag to flag pilot, at least in modern motogp?
idk if it's recency bias or what but I just rewatched misano 2015 and brno 2017 and like beyond his actual skill in the wet (which I think is pretty up there) honda and him usually nailed the strategy i think
misano 2014 was obv not great bc he came in too late but I think on the whole
oh yeah, it's not particularly close. and 'modern motogp' is in this case a completely unnecessary caveat! f2f was only introduced in 2005 as a more tv-friendly format and the first f2f race was phillip island 2006. until 2015, there's not like... any real patterns amongst the winners - and generally they're rare enough that you can't draw that many conclusions from who's winning them. marc's first f2f is technically phillip island 2013, which wasn't a weather-related bike switch but did of course feature the notable team fuck up that got him disqualified and could have cost him the title. then it's aragon 2014 where he fucks it and crashes because he didn't switch bikes when he should have, yes. but after that, the record's flawless: wins misano 2015, argentina 2016 (also a tyre-related bike swap), sachsenring 2016, brno 2017 - the full set until 2021. I do have another ask sitting in my drafts sent well before misano, which requires a longer response because it's about what makes a rider good or bad at f2f... so I'll go into more detail there. for now, yes there's a little bit of luck involved in some of these wins, a gamble or two that paid off because his race wasn't actually going all that great until he swapped bikes, but it's a record that kinda speaks for itself. it also probably speaks for itself that I spent much of the season pre-aragon attempting to singlehandedly manifest rain clouds. representative sample included here of my dispassionate analysis of the situation:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
which made me initially quite irritable when the rain showed up at the race after aragon, but that's neither here nor there. anyway, I will go into this in a little more detail for that other ask, but I do think it's the f2f format specifically that suits marc. it's just those specific conditions where it's not wet wet but kinda slippery and gross where he really thrives - which of course you also see with stuff like his affinity for low grip conditions in general. plus, he developed a knack for picking the correct strategies in this genre of races. his record in proper wet races is significantly worse... if I had to make a list of the best wet weather riders this century, a few names would sneak ahead (dovi, casey and valentino being the obvious picks, and some of those riders were..... not so great at f2f). here's the comparison:
Tumblr media
so yup - he's not a bad wet weather rider by any stretch of the imagination, but it's the type of mess thrown up by f2f where he really thrives. neat skill to have

Huge fire wrecks Argentina MotoGP venue
Tumblr media
The Termas de Rio Hondo circuit, host of the MotoGP Argentine Grand Prix, has suffered a huge fire which has destroyed most of the paddock and pit area.
The fire started at around 11pm on Friday night with firefighters from Termas de Rio Hondo tackling the blaze along with help from other fire and rescue services from nearby towns and regions.
The cause of the fire is still unknown but it is thought to have devastated the majority of the pits, the press room and the VIP areas but fortunately it has not caused any injuries.

— Leonardo Regueira (@RegueiraLeo) February 6, 2021
MotoGP had been due to visit the circuit later in the year after its initial scheduled date was postponed to the end of the season after both the Argentine and US GPs were delayed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Both races currently have no new provisional dates.
“80% of the built-up part of the route has been lost, consumed by fire,” a firefighter told La Nación, who also said the fire could be seen from a long distance away from the circuit.
With the pit area and the upper floors above it, where the press room and VIP areas are located, badly damaged by the flames, firefighters plan to try to prevent the fire from spreading to the circuit’s museum area. Several of the most valuable items in the track museum have already been moved as a precaution while further safety measures have also been taken to protect the rest of the circuit.
“We are working to save the museum, the rest was burned, everything was consumed, it makes you want to cry,” added another firefighter to the Argentine newspaper.
Tumblr media
A statement from circuit director Hector Toti Farina confirmed the pit building has been destroyed but the rest of the track complex has been saved from the fire, while also announcing the track is fully insured against fire damage and it plans to start the rebuild as soon as possible.
“Unfortunately the entire pit building was destroyed by the fire that occurred in the late hours at the track, the sector also included the press rooms, race control and VIP lounges,” the circuit statement read. “Both the museum and the control tower at the ends, along with other offices and medical centre had no significant damage.
“The museum will reopen to the public in the next few days. The track has full insurance against fire, so the issue of economic damage is covered in that sense, but it will surely take a long time to rebuild this important area necessary for national and international competitions.
“Thank God, there were no victims to mourn, and we want to thank all those who collaborated in this incident that generated moments of great danger due to the high winds. Many thanks to various fire department staff, police officers, municipal staff and track workers, they did everything they could to prevent further damage. We will work from now on to do everything possible to meet the schedules we have planned, including the MotoGP in November.”
Termas de Rio Hondo has hosted the Argentina MotoGP event since 2014, albeit with the 2020 race cancelled by the COVID-19 pandemic. The circuit, built in 2007 and redeveloped in 2012, has also hosted the World Touring Car Championship, with the most recent event taking place in 2016.

Ducati MotoGP team signs Jack Miller for 2021               Jack Miller will be graduating to the Ducati factory team after spending two years with the satellite team, Pramac Ducati. Ducati Corse has just announced that Jack Miller will be one of its two factory riders for next year’s MotoGP championship season. The 25 year-old Australian rider will be stepping up from the Pramac Ducati satellite team, having signed a one-year contract with the Ducati factory team, with an option to extend it for the 2022 season. Miller fast-tracked his way into MotoGP in 2015 after finishing just two points behind Alex Marquez in the 2014 Moto3 season. After a year with the Honda LCR team, he moved on to the Marc VDS team for two seasons, even securing a dramatic win in the wet at Assen in 2016. In 2018, he rode for Pramac Ducati and finished the 2019 season in a respectable 8th place, with five podiums and one pole position. Some of you might also remember the 2018 Argentina MotoGP, where changing weather conditions (and last minute tyre changes) saw Miller as the only rider on the start grid, minutes before the lights were set to go out. The Ducati MotoGP team has not officially revealed which of the two current riders - Andrea Dovizioso or Danilo Petrucci - will be replaced. However, rumours suggest that Petrucci’s manager has said that the racer will be moving on from the factory team, possibly to WorldSBK; Alvaro Bautista and Scott Redding have done this in the recent past. Alternatively, he could also move to the Aprilia MotoGP team where Andrea Ianonne’s future seems doubtful after he tested positive for steroid use.  The last Australian to race for Borgo Panigale was Casey Stoner, nearly a decade ago, and he was rather successful atop the Desmosedici. Miller will be looking to follow in his footsteps and win the championship with Ducati. https://www.instagram.com/p/CAsj-EMhdK3/?igshid=1eeihhuona8x0

[Leak- Flim] Angry Birds 2 complet Film HD
Angry Birds Movie 2 ramènera au grand écran les oiseaux bien-aimés du célèbre jeu, pour une nouvelle aventure, avec Jason Sudeikis et Josh Gad reprenant leurs rôles pour faire rire les familles.
Tumblr media
[Click Here]  Angry Birds 2 complet Film HD
AngANGRY BIRDS LE FILM 2: Bande-annonce officielle
An animated sequel inspired by an iPhone app isn’t, I’ll concede, the most promising movie premise, but the second instalment in the Angry Birds series is much funnier and flappier than it needs to be. In 2016’s The Angry Birds Movie, Red (Jason Sudeikis), an irritable loner with a permanently knitted brow became Bird Island’s unlikely hero, rescuing the eggs of its flightless birds from the predatory green pigs from neighbouring Piggy Island

The prankish rivalry between the birds and the pigs is sustained, but when icy cannonballs coming from the mysterious Eagle Island hit both communities, pig king Leonard (Bill Hader) insists on a truce and a plan of action. Red agrees, assembling a crew of sidekicks including Josh Gad’s speed demon Chuck and his smarty-pants sister, Silver (Rachel Bloom). Except, as Red must learn, they’re more than helpers and, anyway, brutish male ego is simply a hindrance when saving the world.

MiracleM1r - Celebrations begin for the 2017 Moto3 World Champion
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
Leopard Racing’s Joan Mir (#MiracleM1r) is the 2017 Moto3™ World Champion, taking the crown at Phillip Island after a stunning year that his seen him take nine wins so far. Mir, from Majorca, began in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup and was runner up in 2014 behind Jorge Martin, before moving up to the FIM CEV Repsol Moto3™ Junior World Championship for 2015.
Fourth in the standings that season as he competed with the Leopard Racing junior programme, Mir was on the podium in each of the races he finished with the exception of being crashed out in Valencia – ending the year only 36 points off Nicolo Bulega’s title-winning tally.
At the same time, the Leopard Racing team called Mir up for duty in the World Championship as an injury replacement for Hiroki Ono in Australia. Qualifying in fifteenth and then fighting for sixth in close company with teammate Danny Kent – who would go on to take the crown – the Majorcan crashed out but had already made an impression.
Mir then readied himself to line up full time for the first time in 2016. Hitting the ground running, the Spaniard’s first win was a stunning performance from pole in Austria – an impressive feat followed by two further podiums in Misano and Valencia. Mir was fifth overall, and took the title of Rookie of the Year.
At the beginning of 2017, the Majorcan’s Leopard Racing team switched from KTM to Honda machinery, and Mir took the victory in the season opener in Qatar and the second race of the season in Argentina. Texas was his worst result in the first half of the year when he came eighth, but Mir bounced back on home turf at Jerez to take third, only a tenth off the win – and was quickly back on the top step at Le Mans.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
He won again at the Catalan GP before stringing together wins at Sachsenring, Brno and Austria. Silverstone was a more difficult race and he lost some ground to key rival Aron Canet, before a calm ride in the rain to second at Misano. Aragon saw him back on top, setting him up perfectly with his first chance at the title at Motegi. In torrential conditions, the tale took a twist as key rival Romano Fenati took the win – and Mir didn’t score, coming home in P17. But at Phillip Island it was a different story, as the Majorcan took his ninth win of the year and his tenth overall to equal Fenati on all-time wins – and take the 2017 crown in style.
Biography Date of birth: 1st September 1997 Place of birth: Palma de Majorca, Spain First GP: Phillip Island 2015, Moto3™ First pole position: Red Bull Ring 2016, Moto3™ First podium: Red Bull Ring 2016, Moto3™ First victory: Red Bull Ring 2016, Moto3™ Starts: 35 Victories: 10 Podiums: 14 Pole positions : 1 Fastest laps: 5 Titles: Moto3™ (2017)

SOME FACTS ABOUT JOAN MIR Joan Mir has won nine races so far this season, becoming the first to do so since the introduction of the Moto3™ class back in 2012 and the first in the lightweight category since Marc Márquez in 2010.
Mir has won ten Moto3™ races in his career so far, equaling Romano Fenati at the top of the table of most wins in the class.
Mir took the lead of the Championship when he won the first race of the year at Losail and has remained at the head of the standings throughout the rest of the season.
Mir belongs to the list of nine riders who have led more than 100 laps since the introduction of the Moto3™ class in 2012.
Mir clinched the title without a pole position. This is the fourth time it has happened in the lightweight category after Emilio Alzamora (1999), Loris Capirossi (1990) and Ángel Nieto (1984) – since 1974 when full pole positions were recorded.
This is the third successive year that a rider who comes from the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup has won the world title, after Danny Kent (2015) and Brad Binder (2016).
Mir is the second Moto3™ rider, after Alex Márquez (2014), to have clinched the title after his rookie year.

Lorenzo Baldassarri vs the United States of America
Tumblr media Tumblr media
COTA hasn’t traditionally been a top track for the Championship leader. Will that change in 2019? 50 points, a 100% win rate and a top job on tactics has seen Lorenzo Baldassarri (Flexbox HP 40) take an early hold on the 2019 Moto2™ World Championship but next up it’s a venue that hasn’t seen the Italian enjoy much success: the Circuit of the Americas. His only result inside the top twenty at the track came last season as he took tenth, but that was then and this is now. Pace and confidence are nine-tenths of the victory, so can Baldassarri finally take on Texas and win in 2019? With a cast of potential and proven rivals, it’s going to be more mountain than molehill. Alex Marquez (EG 0,0 Marc VDS) is a former polesitter, took second last year after challenging eventual winner Francesco Bagnaia and bothered the podium battle the year before. That battle was one that saw Tom Lüthi (Dynavolt Intact GP) play a big role as he took second in it, making it one apiece for two of the biggest names in the field. Dominique Aegerter (MV Agusta Idealavoro Forward), who makes his 200th start this weekend, is the other rider who’s previously been on the podium at COTA – albeit on different machinery. And there’s only one man still on the grid who has a race win in Austin to his name: Sam Lowes (Federal Oil Gresini Moto2). Lowes crashed out in Argentina after showing good pace – just like and just next to Lüthi – but the Brit was almost two seconds clear when he took victory in the Americas GP in 2015. 2016 saw Lowes take another podium, too, so the form book says he’ll be one to watch. So can Marquez build on his podium form? Can Lüthi and Lowes bounce back? Can the newer frontrunners on the block like first time podium finisher in Argentina, Remy Gardner (ONEXOX TKKR SAG Team), keep their pace rolling? And what of home hero, Joe Roberts (American Team KTM), racing on home turf? It’s a place he knows better than many. Tune in to the Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas on Sunday 14th April to see who can lay down the law as Moto2™ go racing at 12:20 (GMT -5). Championship Standings Lorenzo Baldassarri (ITA) - 50 Remy Gardner (AUS) - 33 Marcel Schrötter (GER) - 27 Alex Marquez (SPA) - 25 Tom Lüthi (SWI) - 20 #mc_embed_signup{background:#fff; clear:left; font:14px Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif; width:100%;} /* Add your own Mailchimp form style overrides in your site stylesheet or in this style block. ROUND 3: AUSTIN, UNITED STATES OF AMERICAS
Third round of the championship took place, as usual, at The Circuit of the Americas aka CoTA, Austin. The gorgeous US track makes for a superb scenery thanks to all of the US-colored kurbs all around the tarmac. It also makes for quite a particular weekend even though races are most of the time won with a big gap.
1. King in his Garden
Spoiler alert... Marc Marquez won the US GP. Was it really a spoiler anyway ? Not only fact that anybody reading a review before watching the GP sounds absolutely ridiculous (like REALLY) but anybody who's been following closely the GP circus for the last 5 years knows very well that races in the US rhymes with Marquez winning.
Normal service resume for the spaniard ? Not quite... Even though Marquez won in the end it was all but an easy win for him. First he had to deal with Vinales clearly wishing to stop his reccords at the texan track all weekend long, then he had to stay behind teammate Dani Pedroda almost half of the race. Was he stuck behind Pedrosa on purpose ? Wasn't he able to found his way in and past his teammate ?
From the spaniard's own say he had only one Plan A for the race, no matter who was in front: stay calm, not do any crazy moves, analised the race, how the tires were reacting and then ultimately try to win if possible.
Marquez' austin win is not one from the 2014′s Marc but clearly one from last year's Marc. The reigning champion only has his eyes focus on one prize, the big one, and he knows exactly what to do to take it. He already suffered a DNF in Argentina meaning he better stay on both his wheels for the most part of the 15 races still to go. Marquez also understood last season that winning with 10 seconds won't give him any bonus points so he has absolutely no real reasons, once Vinales was down, to hurry the F- up.
Vinales' DNF combined to Marquez' win means the champion is back on track with Rossi just in there waiting for blood. Season can now properly start in Spain in 2 weeks time.
2. Glory almost went down to a disaster
Who would have thought Valentino Rossi, 38 years old, would be leading the world championship with 15 races to go this season ? Except Uccio and anybody seeing life through yellow-tinted glasses, most probably: NOBODY. And yet, here we are. Even when we know we must never write him off he still surprises us.
The italian took another podium meaning that from all factory riders he's the only one who took 3 podiums out of 3 races. His consistency is 2015-like even though he struggles way more over the course of the whole weekend. The italian seems to have found the solution to his front end problems from the pre-season tests though, meaning he is more at ease on the M1 and able to be a little better during FP.
The rivalry between Marquez and Vinales is already known to anyone who followed them during their small/middle classes feuds. Even though it's yet to explode on track during a MotoGP weekend it is still there, hanging around the two young spaniards. Rivalry is something very well known from Rossi. Sometimes it's better not being part of it (right? ahh 2015, that season nobody will ever forget..!). Rossi know the best way to the 10th would be to stay just where he is waiting for Marquez & Vinales to push each others to DNFs. But can he stay away from Dramas ? Nothing's less certain. The old monkey has a things for classical dramas and ridiculous MCN's headlines...
3. The importance of positive thinking
One could wonder if the 2017 Desmosedici really is better than his older sister from 2016. At CoTA the italian bike always goes well (unless you are Dovizioso. Then you might do well... up until someone crashes into you). Story didn't repeat itself this time.
Both ducati riders ends the weekend into the top 10 but that's nothing they can be proud about when, clearly, a podium was the goal. Dovizioso did not shine this weekend even though he did not particulary failled either.
Lorenzo took his first top 10 with the italian stalion, something he said he could not be proud of. Yet, at least from the 99 side of the garage, spirit was positive leaving CoTA. The spaniard had a better feeling with the bike over all 3 days and was closer to the top. Once again forced to take part to Q1, Baz' saved of the year in his hot lap meant Lorenzo was into the 2 riders allowed to go to Q2. There, he took a 6th spot on the grid. Nothing a 5 time world champ should be happy off and yet... he went back to his box, punching his fist in the air with the applause of his team. The texan weekend might not be a "good" one result speaking but each step foreward made by Lorenzo keeps pushing him a little further down the winning road.
4. Those who never fail... ultimately fails
Maverick Vinales came to Austin feeling like the new sherrif in MotoGP thinking this was almost already in the bag for him.
He kept saying from right after Argentina that he loved the texan tracks and always felt great there. So certain he would be in the game for the win he only focussed his work all weekend long on the last 10-ish laps of the race knowing very well the tire degradations would be key at CoTA.
Fate though had another ending in mind. The US GP was nothing like a walk on water for the young Yamaha rider, in fact it only lasts 2 laps. Why did Maverick crash ? Not even him knows. At least, that's official statement. The real answer probably start with Michelin's M. The very bumpy tracks has been a real game changer for most riders this weekend not allowing them to any mistakes (ask Aleix Espargaro..).
What does this race means for the championship ? Not much. Maverick can still totally wins it but it will remind every reporters, commentators & fans that, in racing, like Nicky Hayden always famously said: nothing's over until the chequered flag.
5. About new talents and old ones
Many people seems surprised by what frenchman Johann Zarco is able to do so far this season. But should we really be surprised ? It's true Suzuki didn't took him for the 2017 season when he clearly wanting them to give his chance. It's also true that, Marquez being the exception, Moto 2 champions did not shine bright like diamonds once on the big bikes. Zarco is not Rabbat though.
The frenchman is older, wiser and has a totally different approach to racing than most moto 2 guys... which probably explain why he was so successful in the middle classe. Zarco still has things to learn though. At least, from Rossi's say. Is Zarco to blame for the incident between him and Rossi ? Yes. Clearly. His excessive move could have ended up with them both into the gravel trap.
Should he calm down ? Absolutely not. It feels refreshing to see a young talented guy on a non-official bike scrapping elbows with the aliens. His move on Rossi was bold but nothing like suicidal. The italian might not like when other riders race VR46-like against him but he must know by know, they all grow up hoping to do just like him one day. On that matter, that penalty for Rossi ? Rubbish as hell. He did not made the move, had to other choice than cut the turn and lost everything he gained on the lap after... This is no F1, please, stop trying to make it happen.
Another event that might have surprised a few people: Pedrosa leading for almost half the race. Many of us (fans and experts) have written Dani Pedrosa off since a few years and especially after last season. What people probably did not understood last season though is that the spaniard was simply struggling with his bike and tires. The Honda might not be as savage as a Ducati but it’s also far from being as gentle as a M1. Add to that the poor Michelin tires he had to deal with last year (like Lorenzo) and there you go, you’ve explained Pedrosa’s poor 2016 season. The man is full of talent nevertheless. He has win at least one race year since his rookie season in 2006. Should he keep on doing well with the tires and the 2017 championship might also have Pedrosa has a key to the crown.

Best Athletes of 2016: Marc Marquez
Having started off the year with a third in Qatar and a win in Argentina, Márquez made it two wins in a row with a dominant performance at the Grand Prix of the Americas in Texas to claim an early championship lead. Le Mans wasn't a good race for Marquez who end on a 13 place only winning three points, after a crash in the seven curve with thirteen laps to end the race.
After the bad result in France, Márquez and his team worked to improve the results and maintain the leadership. Their work gave them three second places in the next three races, the Italian Grand Prix, Spanish Grand Prix, and Dutch TT and first place in GoPro Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland at the Sachsenring.
After these four good results, he slowed down with a fifth position at the Red Bull Ring in Austria, followed by a third position in Brno and two fourth positions at Silverstone and Misano. But then came the Aragon Grand Prix which Márquez felt really comfortable in. He said he thought it suits his riding style better and proved it by winning the race.
Márquez clinched his third MotoGP title and fifth world title overall at Motegi, Japan with three rounds remaining after Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo crashed out of the race. Márquez' team created a T-shirt with the logo "Give me five" to celebrate his fifth world title overall. The 3 last races had been at Australia, Malaysia and Valencia. At the Australian Grand Prix he crashed out of the race while leading,  he then crashed while chasing the leading trio at the Malaysian Grand Prix in tricky wet conditions but remounted the bike and finished in 11th position adding 5 more points to his points tally.
