Struggle
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is still a WIP, but weeks ago, my japanese uncle told me of an old family legend surrounding Myōkyū's death but that's for another post.
While I do plan on coloring this, this is meant to illustrate Motonari becoming depressed after Okimoto's disappearance.
And Myōkyū being Motonari's outlet that brings him back to his senses.
But in my senbasafancanon, little Shōjumaru got scared of what may happen to Okimoto.
But once Okimoto goes missing.
Motonari goes into shock and orders for him to be found. Though Komatsumaru was to take his father's place.
Komatsumaru's grand Auntie whom I renamed ZhiYun ( 枝云) highly recommended Motonari to let Komatsumaru live his childhood and take control.
Though Motonari is reluctant, he began to isolate himself, not wanting to drink any food or water until news of his brother is given.
Days turning into weeks, Myōkyū began to worry for Motonari after noticing him resembling a skeleton and begged him to eat something.
But Motonari wouldn't eat anything until Myōkyū attempted to do the same, causing Motonari to eat food and apologize to her for putting her under so much stress.
Myōkyū forgives him and helps him recover

Lost Girls: Lady Myōkyū
Tumblr media
The first wife of Mōri Motonari has fascinated readers, historians, romance story enjoyers and Mōri clan enthusiasts alike.
Though she is one of my favorite women of the time period. Her life is shrouded in obscurity aside from the fact that she was loved by her husband and children.
As how my ojisan would say, that Lady Myōkyū falls into the category of one of Japan's earliest evaporating people due to the fact that she hasn't been found

Amago Haruhisa x Mōri Motonari
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This ship is Hella underrated and deserves love. It's both intriguing and funny XD
Shame that Haruhisa's and Motonari's rivalry recieved the same treatment Motoharu's and Shikanosuke's rivalry recieved in Samurai Warriors 5 because believe it or not! Koei Tecmo took notes from Sengoku Basara with having Motonari fight Shikanosuke but have Motoharu who is designed as a sexy, hunky, strong guy like the historical figure but they don't have him fight Shikanosuke whose also in the game.
But overall, Haruhisa has been reminding me of Carlos Oliveira from the original resident evil nemesis. They're both flirty, sexy and funny as. XD
I was reading his dialogue when you have Motonari fight him, and my goodness, why does it sound like Haruhisa is flirting with him? XD

Sengoku Basara OC: Lady Guifei
Tumblr media
I have long awaited to introduce one of my non Japanese Sengoku Basara ocs and finally here is Lady Guifei 💚
The dragon lady of Aki ofc as although she is sweet she does have a scary angry side that I see as comic relief for this stuff.
Lady Guifei or Yōhiki as what Mōri Hiromoto gave her a Japanese name hails from overseas to West of the Ming Dynasty in China.
Lady Guifei was the daughter of a minister in the Emperor's Imperial Court but due to her father working against the practice of foot binding, she was spared the pain and was arranged to marry her husband Xiaolou. A man of medicine whose family too was against the practice of foot binding.
At a young age Lady Guifei loved playing the ehru and even writing poetry as to her, it was an escape from the terrors of the real world.
Fast forward years later, she and her husband became part of a trading faction with the Ouchi clan with the goal in mind to repair the damaged relations between the Ming Dynasty and Emperor Go-Kawashiwabara.
Lady Guifei and Xiahou did bring along a few family members including Xialou's niece Mei who would later on carried the name Yuki and became the wife and mother of Mōri Okimoto and Komatsumaru.
Due to her husband prescribing the then dying Mōri Toyomoto longevity with his knowledge of herbal medicine and ofc medicine in general. Lady Guifei and Xialou earned themselves a place amongst the Mōri clan while Mei stayed with the Ouchi clan as a proud servant.
Lady Guifei tho during then not having much of a role in the Mōri clan won the interest and admiration of Toyomoto and his son Hiromoto the father of Mōri Motonari with her talent in writing poetry and playing the ehru and most of all her ink brush painting skills.
Later on when Hiromoto married the daughter of Fukubara Hirotoshi and had two sons Okimoto and Shōjumaru with Lady Fukubara, Lady Guifei had her own children whose names I have yet to pick.
Due to Lady Fukubara having complications with her health and being unable to provide breast milk for the new Shōjumaru, Lady Guifei was happy to act as his wet nurse.
Throughout the years when Hiromoto recieved two concubines Lady Sugi and Lady Aiou. Lady Guifei did not like them both as she saw them far too ambitious and thought them both wicked, and even feared that Okimoto would be unable to take control of the Mōri clan and felt that even they would have a bad influence on Hiromoto.
Though she had to watch in terror as Lady Fukubara losing Hiromoto's love and favor and took notice that the young Shōjumaru was locked inside a box after being beaten by his step mother, Lady Guifei and Okimoto wanted to keep him safe.
And thus Lady Guifei secretly would teach the young Shōjumaru things he needed to learn and even showed him ink brush paintings from her home country along with Ming Dynasty art and told him of the mountains and valleys there. Lady Guifei enjoyed telling Shōjumaru of the literature and myths and culture both from her home land and Japan.
One story which fascinated the young Shōjumaru the most was the tale of Hou Yi and the 10 suns which Hou Yi shot 9 down with his bow and arrows.
She even taught both Shōjumaru and Okimoto on how to speak Chinese if they ever wished to one day see her homeland. And while Okimoto became a hostage of the Ouchi clan and fell in love with Mei whose kind hearted nature which can be described as peony which is the native to China and a national flower.
Lady Guifei was excited that Okimoto wanted to marry Mei as Xiaolou granted them their blessing.
Lady Guifei later on met the young princess of the Kikkawa clan Miyasudokoro whom she took a liking to due to her kind and gentle personality and one day when seeing the 9 year old Shōjumaru play with her, She hoped that one day they'd both be like two cranes flying in the sky together into the sun.
Lady Guifei would help the young Shōjumaru from his impoverish life when he was removed from Tajihi-Sarugake castle by his vassal Inoue Motomori and help him regain the life he belonged to by sending him to live with Miya for the the time being as she grew suspicious of Motomori and noticed that it was a plot set up by the Inoue clan who were very arrogant and did not respect Okimoto.
Years later Okimoto would disappear leaving Mei who was then going by the name Yuki worried and grieving in the arms of her Auntie.
Lady Guifei supported Shōjumaru who was given the name Motonari in becoming the new leader of the Mōri and even predicted Aiou Mototsuna's uprising but saw something even more dark and deeper as to her suspicions turned out to be true. Lady Aiou was behind Mototsuna's revolt and fight for the position of the leader of the Mōri.
Lady Guifei is recognized to Motonari as family as she taught him him so much and supported him all the way, though she is close with him. Lady Guifei's motherly instincts do kick in and will grow angry like dragon when someone dares to hurt her own children including Motonari. And ofc both in my main fanon and in my basara gakuen fanon, She embarrassed the heck out of Xavi and Sōrin as they both too she believed were bad influence on Motonari. And if Motonari is forced to convert, Xavi and Sōrin hope to never meet Lady Guifei and after meeting her during Miya's quest to reach her husband as the Xavists sought to kill Miya.
Xavi and Sōrin both vowed never to bother Motonari again after being intimidated both by Lady Guifei and Izumo No Okuni who was then a vassal to Motonari.
Decades later when Motonari was elderly and retired and heartbroken from the death of his beloved Miya whose death he doesn't recover from, his sons rival Chosokabe Motochika sought to see him but was turned away by Lady Guifei who was a widow and in her 90s who told him, "The son of the Sun Queen doesn't have anything to talk to you, and there is no reason for you to meet. If he met you, he will think of the past and the conflicts that took his son and make his grief even worse. His enemies like you are not allowed to meet at all, so please go back."
Moving onto to her design, Lady Guifei's design is heavily based on Qing dynasty fashion as Motonari's is wearing what appears to be a cheongsam or qipao which is way ahead of his time. But hey it's basara, historical accuracy is nonexistent lmao.
I may change her name in the future but I'm not so sure lol.
Lady Guifei's name is ofc taken from Yang Guifei of the Tang Dynasty and an old and famous legend that Yang Guifei was rescued and lived out her days in Japan and answering by the name Yōhiki is also where my inspiration of her came from.
Her outfit is ofc heavily based on Consort Xian's outfit in Legend Of The Pheonix as I saw Lady Guifei in that outfit as it matches the colors of the Mōri clan 💚
I will admit that while I was coloring her, she ended up looking like Ming Lee from Tuening Red but in Qing dynasty clothing but it was intentional as I do love that design.
