Chapter 5 - Lost in the Mail
Previous All Stories
"My sons, what is it that's so important that I had to wake up from my beauty sleep?" asked the former martial arts actor.
"Hey, dad! Just hang on tight. You're gonna love her." Mikey beamed as he squished his dad in a hug. Leo and Raph entered the family hall with April and Cassandra trailing behind them.
Splinter flicked his tail with curiosity, "Hmm, are you hinting that finally one of my sons has found a ladyfriend?"
"I mean, with how long those two are taking, I'd say most likely pops," Raph said, sitting with a plop on the bean bag chair. Leo rolled his eyes around in disgust, "Hey, as much as I would like to poke fun at DonTron, I refuse to associate him with ... her".
youtube
Splinter shoved Mikey away with surprise, "Him? Purple? Donatello has a -". Right at that moment, Donnie and Sil decided to stroll in. The five people in the hall were either struck with sheer bewilderment or immense shock or experiencing both at the same time.
"-A girlfriend?!" April and Splinter shouted at the same time. Cassandra was forced to spit out her hot coffee all over poor Leo's face.
Sil and Donnie froze. "N-no no. You got it wrong. I am not his girlfriend." Sil explained, successfully hiding her blush, Donnie just nodded furiously, "Yeah.. yeah whatever she said." With all eyes on them, Sil and Donnie quickly parted ways. Sil went to sit beside Raph and Donnie sat between Splinter and Leo. Leo gave Sil a hard glare, growing protective over his twin. Mikey plopped down beside Sil and quietly mentioned who April and Cassandra are to which she thanked him.
Splinter however felt pride growing from within his furry chest and made the 'winky eyes' at his purple son, "I must say, Purple. I am surprised as I am proud that at least one of my sons has inherited my Lou Jitsu charm." The tiny rat man pulled Donnie in for a father-son hug. "We will go over the flirting step later so you can quickly make her my daughter-in-law"
Donnie sighed but didn't have the courage to deny anything. So naturally, Splinter took it as a good sign. April then shimmied towards Donnie, Cassandra draping herself across his back, "Dee, you did not tell me of your new girl." April started.
Cassandra shook her head displeased, "That is unacceptable in the world of friendship. The girls must always find out about their friend's love life. How dare you not inform us of such a momentous occasion." April nodded in agreement, "You gotta introduce Cass and I properly later,"
Donnie sighed, "You do realize that this is not what we want to discuss today?" though he assured the girls of a proper introduction later.
"For once, Donnie's right. We have a situation on our hands so where in the yokai universe is Draxum?" Leo butted in the chatter and asked Splinter in a hushed tone. "He will be a little late my son. I suggest we start before him if the matter is as important as you say."
Leo nodded. "Alright, gather around everyone. I think today's topic is pretty clear. It's about her!" Splinter put his hand up like an excited teen about to ask a really stupid question but Leo cut him off immediately, "NO! No stop, no. It has nothing to do about any of us giving you grandkids."
Splinter scowled and put his hands down then gestured for Leo to continue. "This person right here is the thief we were pursuing yesterday," the red-eared slider pointed an accusatory finger toward Sil. Mummers broke out between Cassandra, April, and Splinter. "She managed to steal a meteorite from the museum of natural history and was about to get away. Thankfully, we stopped her just in time."
April gave Leo a confused look, "You called me all the way here for something urgent. How is stealing a meteorite that urgent?"
Leo smirked, "You see, April. She's not a regular human thief and that meteorite is not a regular meteorite. Our little thief claims that the meteorite has some fancy rare material that has something to do with yokai, mutants, and humans. Our thief herself has mystic powers"
Once he got the attention of his father and friend, the leader in blue continued to explain Sil's alias, nickname, and mystic powers. "How does a regular human have mystic powers? Are you part mutant?" Cassandra asked with interest.
Sil shrugged her shoulders, "I think so. I know I am human for obvious reasons but have no idea where the yokai or mutant part mix in"
"I mean no offense but you're a thief, right? Correct me if I'm wrong, but you wouldn't be stealing this specific meteorite for just decor. Whatever property this space rock has could be most probably used for something scientific background, so in conclusion, someone with a high level of knowledge of human, yokai, and mutant biology would possibly burn everything on their part to get their hands on something priceless as this. Your buyer must be some crazy science dude. Right, Sil?" by the end of her crazy theory, April was at the edge of her seat, dripping bullets of sweat. Sil was astounded, "You theorized all that just now?"
Mikey patted Sil's shoulder with a kind smile, "Yeah, she's Donnie's best friend forever. Sticking around Donnie all the time would do that to you,"
"Also, she is a professional journalist in the making," declared Donnie as he proceeded to fist-bump his best bud.
Sil smiled softly and turned her attention to April. "I'm impressed, and yes. That is why I stole."
The curly-haired brunette cheered, "I'm crushing this thing, and thank you. You wouldn't be able to disclose whomever you're working for?." Sil gently shook her head, "Private and confidential, I'm afraid."
The noise and excitement in the room gradually died down as each person took in whatever information they could. Finally, Splinter decided to speak up. "Sil, this is very important news. I must ask, however, as a father and protector of my family. If you and your employer who would be most likely a yokai themselves, are working with something as powerful as the space rock, you would be on any bad person's capture list. Am I right?"
Sil eyed the rat man carefully. "That is true," she confirmed. "My employer is not the only one who would have use for such an artifact. Whoever knows of its properties will stop at nothing to get their hands on it. The components in that rock could solve thousands of unanswered questions about yokai, mutant and human life. We might have the missing link in the palms of our hands, the discovery of the millennia."
The turtles glanced at each other, seeming to catch on to the weight of the situation. "Has anyone else approached you to steal for them before your current employer?". Sil thought over Splinter's new inquiry for a moment. There was one other, but it was a long time ago. "Yes, there was but I refused."
"Why?" Splinter asked. "Ethical reasons and the fact that they were widely known to mishandle powerful items."
"Were they yokai or mutant?" Donnie asked. "They were yokai. It's best to forgo the details" Sil told him and turned to Splinter and Leo, "You are right that to think that there are bad people after this artifact. The first person who asked me constantly keep an eye on my being since I am known for making heists on important mystic artifacts. They have a deep network but remain very discrete and secretive."
Leo hummed thoughtfully before giving Sil his full attention, "Does said person spy on you?" he asked with a hint of worry. Sil nodded. "I even had run-ins with their spies. They mostly leave a word of threat to scare me back into working for them. Promising me huge sums of money and wealth and other fortunes."
"And you didn't accept it?" surprise washed over the leader's face.
"Nope. As I said, they had ethical issues. Massive ethical issues. Since I am human, I don't want to simply hand over my race to a potentially dangerous individual who poses a high chance of using whatever is in the space rock to destroy humanity." the girl replied in all honesty. Leo remained baffled. All this while, she could actually be a  good person?
Sil watched conflict race over Leonardo's face so she gracefully saved him from overthinking, "I know you're the leader, Leonardo. I also understand why you will remain skeptical of me, however, do not peg me for some cheap bastard who steals for her own benefit without thinking about the consequences others would face." Leo listened eagerly.
"I want answers desperately and in my search for what I am, I will carefully choose who to trust. I've known my employer for quite some time and their reason for the study is completely humane." Leo could see that Sil trusted her buyer. Still, he thought about the potential dangers this situation would bring if the rock fell into the wrong hands.
"How do I know you're not lying to me?" Leo started while his family watched him spew out questions of hows, ifs, and whats. "How do I know that this isn't an elaborate plan and some well-thought-out lie for us to let down our guard? What if you're working for the bad guys? How can you assure me that in any situation, my family would stay safe and away from danger?"
Sil ran the questions through her head once, twice, and thrice. All eyes were on her and waiting. Raph being the oldest and having a sense of leadership turned a serious stare. Splinter sitting straight up and his person demanding all respect and honesty. Donnie, Mikey, April, and Cassandra waited for her response.
Sil saw that this family loved each other dearly and sought to protect each other to the very end of each other's breath. How she longed for a life like this. To make her point, she decided to stand up. Before speaking, her mind made a natural response to give Donatello, one of the turtles who has shown her much care aside from Raph and Mikey, a meaningful look, which he received as sincere and scared.
Sil then stood straight and looked Leo and Splinter in their eyes, "I am not lying to you. How to prove that, I have no idea but I have no benefit in lying. If you really want to know about the bad guys, give them another day to sense the disappearance of my presence in the Hidden City. As soon as they realize my absence the city will be scattered with bounty hunters all in search of whatever price they place on my head. This of course means, that the longer I am here, the longer I am kept away from doing my job, the higher the risks of those goons hurting you and your family along the way."
The Silver Knight took a deep breath to steady herself and continued, "I am a criminal. I steal to make a living and survive and most of the time it gets me into many dangerous and life-threatening situations. This could very well be one."
She then braced herself to allow one part of her life's story to be exposed. Sometimes in delicate situations like these, one must compromise their vulnerability. "There was once a family of yokai who tried to help me recuperate after receiving some heavy injuries from a run-in with the goons. I was grateful and soon as I was healed, I left. A few weeks later I returned with some money to pay the family as gratitude. I-, their home had been reduced to ashes. I remember seeing their charred bodies, father, mother, and child. I learned a lesson to never let any innocent family help me ever again."
She felt a tear rising in her eyes but she quickly blinked them away. She watched Splinter, Leo and the others process the story for as long as they needed. From his seat, Hamato Yoshi observed his family in silence. His eyes then settled on Sil, who had her head held down with a look of shame and regret. With a small grunt, Splinter walked over to Sil, tapping her lightly on her knee to get her attention. "What you went through is horrible. No one should ever be forced to witness that. I understand the warning you give. Though I may not be a hundred percent certain of your innocence, I put a great amount of trust in you and believe your story."
The thief gulped the formed lump in her throat and nodded. The Hamato father turned to his son in blue, asking in silence what he thought. Leo breathed calmly and met Sil's gaze, "For now, I think I can trust you."
Sil thanked him silently, watching as Leo approached her till he stopped about a foot away, "If you lie, I will gladly meet you at the end of my blade". The thief lowered her gaze slightly. Agreeing with what Leo demanded. "I understand," she confirmed.
Leo hummed, "I guess you need to stay with us for now. Until Donnie can properly analyze the rock, it is not leaving the lair."
"Also, we should let Draxum see it before we decide on anything else." Donnie approached his brother. "What about your employer? Won't he be searching for you too?" the purple turtle asked, and the blue turtle turned his own curious gaze toward Sil.
"Uhm, Sil? Why do you have that weird look on your face?" Mikey asked, pushing his head between his brothers. Raph, Cassandra, April, and Splinter all huddled in to see what Mikey pointed out. Sil wore an expression between mild astonishment and shock. "Is she having a stroke, Purple?" Splinter asked from his perch on Raph's shoulder.
"I don't think that's a stroke Mikey," Cassandra told him while waving her hands in front of Sil's face. It was enough to wake Sil.
The thief shook her head, "Did you say, Draxum?"
The brother's shared a look. "Uh, yeah."
Sil took in a deep breath. Maybe she just dreamed of them saying that name. Yeah, that could be it, right? Another Draxum. A doppelganger.
"Hey, Sil? You feeling good? Your face is a little red," Leo gently placed his hand on her shoulder and turned to a slightly worried Donnie. Sil didn't even register is when Donnie's hand went to her forehead. "She doesn't have a fever," he then cupped her face and observed her pupils. His fingers drifted to her wrist where he gently pressed to find Sil's pulse. "Rapid pulse and dilated pupils," Donnie announced.
"She's panicking." Leo concluded, "But of what? The name?" Leo thought for a while, "Sil, is it about Draxum?"
Sil once again broke into a panic, but she managed to speak, "You guys mentioned Draxum?"
"Yes, we did," April worriedly replied. "Like the Draxum? Baron Draxum!" Sil urged, eyes blown wide.
They were about to say yes when a loud booming voice rang in the hall. "Alright, what's with the meeting? I am missing my fancy breakfast, you know. Not to mention the terrible morning I had."
Sil tensed and froze. "Hide me!" she whisper yelled. Donnie instinctively placed Sil behind him while the others quickly turned towards Draxum with uncomfortable grins on their faces. "Why does it look like you're hiding something?" He questioned them.
"We're not hiding anything!" squeaked Raph. The sweat drenching his mask said otherwise. "Then why do I smell your fear stink?" Draxum pressed. "Ahaha, my son just woke up from a nightmare about a demon puppet bunny. Nothing fishy going on here." Splinter laughed nervously.
Draxum squinted his eyes. He was making them very uncomfortable. "Whatever. I just hope this meeting is worth my time. I am expecting an important drop-off, a very special item, of immense value and power."
Sil tensed from behind Donnie and grabbed onto his shoulder out of fear. Donnie silently extended his hand to grasp hers, calming her a little. Sil prayed silently to whatever for the newcomer to stop talking. "If the item goes into the wrong hands, it could spell danger for both mystic and humankind." Draxum continued to rant.
Donnie sneakily reached his fingers to Sil's wrist and pressed on her pulse. Something began to click in the giant brain of his. Sil panicked at Draxum's name. Sil asked them if they were referring to the Draxum. Baron Draxum. When she heard Draxum's voice she asked to be hidden.
"Oh, bummer. Lost in the mail huh? Maybe file a complaint?" Sil cursed and tugged on Mikey's mask tails to shut him up. Donnie felt her pulse quicken.
"File a complaint? Clearly, you do not understand the weight of my problem. This item had to be retrieved with the most secrecy. Studying it would answer my questions about human and mystic-kind. Unfortunately, our communication got cut up yesterday so I think my thief ran into some trouble"
Oh, shit.
"Holy truffle mac and cheese!"
Everyone in the room turned to look at Donnie, Leo sending him an 'I'm going to kill you if you rat us out, sign.'
"Why do you look nervous, Donatello?" The purple genius flinced when Draxum called him out. With the intense stare from the older yokai, it was easy to drown out the panicked looks his family gave him. On the other hand, Donnie felt Sil tremble. He felt once again for her pulse. Everything cliked into place. Mr. Hamato figured out who Sil's employer was.
"Answer me"
Donnie slipped, "We are totally not hiding your possible thief from you and definitely not in any possession of any mystic meteorite!"
"DONNIE!" Everyone shouted in disappointment. The softshell turtle chuckled nervously. "Whose legs are those? Who's standing behind you?" Draxum pointed to the obvious pair of legs hiding behind the purple turtle.
With one giant step, Draxum pushed away the Hamato with his purple vines and lifted Donnie by the legs with another.
"WHAT THE?! WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?!"
The color on Sil's face drained a little. She offered a small wave and a weak grin.
"Uh haha. Hey, Uncle Drax..."

Chapter 6 - The Exposition (not proof read yet, sorry for grammar mistakes :p )
Previous All Stories
"I have been worried sick! What did you think you were doing?" Draxum yelled.
"I had no choice, alright!" Sil bit back.
Everyone else huddled outside the kitchen that Sil and Draxum decided to take over when their shouting match began. "You were irresponsible, undisciplined, and have a total lack of stealth skills. You have great power but no means of using them properly and to your wit!"
Sil rolled her eyes and leaned back into her seat. "With great power comes great irresponsibility,"
"What was that?" the baron growled.
"Oh come on! You throwing around these insults and whatnot won't change the fact that I was caught okay? We both know that is situation is an occupational hazard." Sil answered with a ferocious voice.
"Di-Sil!" Draxum spewed, quickly correcting himself before accidentally revealing the girl's identity. "You are the Silver Knight. Getting caught should be the last thing to ever happen to you. Thank the mystic forces the artifact fell into the hands of my creations."
"You're creations?"
Draxum cringed. There remained many things that Sil had yet to find out about his past. "Don't get mad, but you remember my evil warrior scientist phase?" Sil nodded slowly. "Well, those turtles and the rat were the results of that incident all those years ago."
"What is 'that' incident?" Sil tilted her head questioningly.
"Sil! 'THAT' incident, remember? Lab on fire, I was grouchy for three months?"
"Ohhh.... that incident..." she remembered it well, the grouchy Draxum at least. She was the only one that got the grumpy baron to cheer up. What a time.
"Okay, I'm not mad. Just a little disappointed you didn't tell me until now. Either way, what do you want me to do about this?" she gestured to the silhouette of the group of people outside the kitchen door and also the still-standing fact that the Silver Knight's heist had been foiled. Draxum huffed. Annoyed with their behavior, he called them out, "Quit hiding like cowards,".
youtube
The door barged open and in fell the mutant family and two humans. "I reckon you heard all of that?" Sil asked no one in particular. Leo grunted and pushed up from the floor, "Yeah we did. But enough with you asking us questions. How in the universe's name do you two know each other?"
"I think she made it pretty clear when she said 'Uncle Drax'," the baron sasses. Leo could not believe it. The slider kept glancing back and forth between Sil and Draxum, "But you.... and you... sheep... and you human, how, wha..?"
Out of nowhere, Donnie popped up with Splinter perched on his shoulder. The purple genius grabbed onto Sil's and Draxum's hands, examining them through his goggles, "There does not appear to be any biological sign.... maybe emotional?" Splinter nodded in agreement and sneered at the baron.
"I adopted her, ratman.." Draxum said, pulling his hand from Donnie's. The unbothered purple genius continued to examine Sil's hair and face.
"Aww, I think it is wonderful that Draxum considers a human as his niece. I'm so proud you are finally coming out of your shell," Mikey sauntered over and hugged the baron, the latter could do nothing lest he faces the wrath of Doctor Delicate Touch.
"Maybe they are related because of Sil's mystic powers," Raph snapped his fingers as if a lightbulb went off in his head.
"Or maybe, Draxum kidnapped her data very young age and brought her into a life of thievery!" April pointed accusingly at Draxum, Cassandra already drawing out her baseball bat in case she needed to beat the sheepman to a pulp.
"Guys, he did not kidnap me. We found me wandering the streets of the Hidden City when I was younger and took me in. When he found out about my mystic thingy, he helped me learn how to use it." Sil told the two girls with a slightly worried smile. "Ah, I see. Well either way, if sheep dude does anything to hurt ya, just let me and Cass know," April replied gleefully. "We will splatter him to the ground! Girls gotta stick together," They both fist-bumped, and Sil couldn't help but feel touched. She's never had a girl group before.
Draxum sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose, "Can we please get back to the matter at hand?".
"For once, I agree." Splinter crawled off Donnie's shoulder and stood on the table. "Just so we are all clear, you and Sil are arguing about the meteorite and how she got caught by my sons, yes?"
The Silver Knight and the Baron nodded. "She should have been more careful. Who knows what would have happened if someone else got to you."
"You mean her previous employer?" Raphael asked with all seriousness. Draxum nodded, "I assume she's told you about their interest in the meteorite. Yesterday, since she disappeared away from their radar, their leader placed a bounty on Sil's head."
He then turned to face his niece, "They know you found the artifact. They saw you with the package."
Sil groaned and ran her hands over her face, "That can't be. I was very aware of my surroundings,"
"Then how do you explain this?" Draxum revealed a wanted poster bearing Sil's full alias and a hefty bounty of seven thousand yokai credits.
Cassandra picked up the bounty poster, "Wanted by the Baron of the North..."
"Pray-tell who this is, Baron. I assume you know him?" Donnie questioned while taking a seat beside Sil.
"The Baron of the North is another warrior alchemist. Much younger than myself but heinous and an anti-yokai hater. Hates mutants, especially humans that possess mystic powers."
The others soaked up the information like a sponge. "Especially humans that possess mystic powers? You say that like there is more than one mystic human," Leo replied.
Draxum breathed deeply. Sil knew what he was about to say, she heard it many times before. "There were many humans with innate mystic powers, once. The Baron of the North hated it so he sought to kill every last one of them, and he did."
"What about Sil? She has mystic powers," Mikey pointed out.
"Sil's mystic powers are not innate, Michelangelo. Humans with innate mystic powers are able to control the powers balance within themselves," The baron explained.
"When Draxum found me, my powers were fluctuating all over the place. It was so unstable that if he had found me later, I'd already be dead. That doesn't happen to mystic-born humans." Sil added quietly.
"Does the meteorite have anything to do with this whole situation?" the slider asked, his blue mask imitating how his brow bones furrowed in worry.
Draxum nodded, "Yes, because I finally found out why it's so important to the Baron of the North. Aside from providing the missing link that would connect the roots of mystic-kind and human ancestry, it contains a chemical that allows a non-mystic user to gain mystic energy."
Sil felt her heart race as her intense gaze met with Draxum's. The purple genius felt his brain explode with conclusions and thought, "You mean-"
"That same chemical can be found in Di- I mean, Sil's blood. Foreign in nature but fused unnaturally into her DNA."
Jaws dropped, including Sil's. After years of chasing answers, it's finally come down to this. Still, how did anyone get the chemical before now? Who tampered with her DNA? Was she made? A product of some experimentation? Little did she know, the same questions ran through Donatello's brain.
Leo noticed the shift in Sil's demeanor. Her eyes glistened and her lips trembled. She was doing everything she could to not break at this very moment. As much as Leo didn't trust her, yet, he could understand the shock she was going through. It's the same shock he and his brothers went through the first time they found out they were mutants. Only this time, neither Sil nor anyone else could say with determination that she was indeed a human, or mutant, or yokai.
The red-eared slider nudged Donnie's foot from under the table to get his attention. The slider nodded slightly towards Sil, who remained at the border of panic. Donnie got the message, 'comfort'. He had to provide 'comfort'. No matter how much Leo felt distaste for the idea of Donnie, his twin, being close to the Silver Knight, Hamato Leonardo had to admit that the two could make a matching pair. If that were possible at all.
The genius' face wrinkled in natural distaste. He was never a person too fond of physical contact unless he initiated or allowed it to happen on instinct. That's it, instinct. As much as his brain said no, his little heart felt an arrow of sorrow pierce through it. As if he felt all her pain at once. Shock, fear, and loss. Letting his natural instincts take over, Donatello gently reached for Sil's hand that lay on her lap. He gave a light hold when she flinched. She gasped a little from the contact but calmed down when Donnie ran his thumb over her knuckles.
' I'm okay ' she thought. ' I'm alright '.
Donnie for once thought of the idea of having someone to care for, possibly love. He still remembered Dianne, which Casey Jr said was Donnie's alleged wife. Maybe, the timeline has changed. Destiny could be rewritten right? He wasn't stuck to some random girl just because the future said so? Either way, if Sil could give him a new path to take, Donnie would grasp and hang on to it like the world was about to end.
Only if he knew.
The small detail did not go unnoticed by Draxum's and Splinter's watchful eyes.
"I know you have the meteorite with you. Is it safe?" Draxum asked with worry. Donnie nodded, "I have it in my lab. It's still intact, but I've run a few scans on it,"
Draxum nodded. "There can only be so much done in your lab. I suggest we bring the meteorite to my lab in the Hidden City. I could use your analysis and brainpower to properly study the rock." Donatello nodded, ready to take on the challenge in the name of mystic science.
"I would need you and your sons to help me," Draxum said, turning to Splinter. "With all the heat on the meteorite and the bounty on my niece's head, we are bound to run into trouble,"
Splinter looked away for a moment. Sending his sons into another villain showdown was the last thing he wanted for his family. They already almost lost their lives to Shredder. Then the Krang came along and almost killed them all. Splinter knew the toll it took on all his boys, especially the newly appointed leader in blue. It didn't go to question when Splinter asked Leonardo to make the final decision.
Leonardo watched his father's silent request. The red-eared slider turned towards his other family members. April and Cassandra standing beside him looking concerned over their new girl-friend. Mikey hugged Draxum's and Splinter's arms. Raph placed a hand on Leo's shoulder, "We trust you," he told the younger Hamato.
Lastly, Leo glanced at Donnie and Sil. Something about them made him feel a great urge to protect them at all costs. As if in some past life, they did the same for him. Casey Jones Jr never mentioned about how the others died, just that they did at some point. Leo felt overwhelmed but in the end, he made his decision. Raph trailed his gaze with Leo's, landing on his genius brother and the she-thief. The oldest Hamato smiled fondly, seeing not just Leo, but Donnie too growing up before his eyes. "Made your decision?" Raph asked his blue-clad brother.
Leo nodded, "Yeah,"
"Alright, pops. We will help Draxum,"
The Baron let out a shaky breath, thanking Hamato Leonardo. "I have a question," Raph asked all of a sudden. "Sil has a bounty on her head. Wouldn't every bounty hunter on the hunt for her be searching every inch of the Hidden City?"
Mikey hummed as it dawned on him, "Raph is right. Draxum, we can't just march to your lab without getting Sil a disguise,"
"What about April's yokai friend, Sunita? Doesn't she have a cloaking broach? Maybe she knows one that could give Sil a yokai disguise." Splinter asked, turning to April and Cassandra.
April placed a finger on her lip thoughtfully, "It could work. I'll drop by Sunita's place tonight and fill her in with the details." Cassandra nodded, "We could also use an extra eye in the sky" the ex-foot recruit smiled proudly.
"You're gonna recruit Junior, aren't ya'?" Raph asked with a mischievous smile. "Ya know it," Cassandra smirked.
"Good, good. Get him on board. We will also need a way to smuggle Sil back to the Hidden City." Draxum informed.
"Why smuggle when you have Neon Leon? I can just portal us there," Leo pouted.
"Because, dear brother, whenever you portal us to the Hidden City, we always appear somewhere else in the world. Though, I would not mind you accidentally portalling us to Tahiti again." Donnie hummed, remembering the warm sun on his skin. Raph and Mikey churred.
Leo groaned, "Fineee... so what do you suggest DonTron?" The slider slinged his arm over Donnie's shoulder. "We could always call in Hueso's favor. He owes me for the mocking dish of Hawaiian Pizza that he sent over for my birthday, " the soft-shell grimaced as he spoke.
"Great idea, Dee. Whose gonna ask him? Mikey, Raph?" Leo poked them with his fingers only to make Donnie laugh mockingly.
"No, no no no. You, my dear brother, faceman, will do the asking."
Leo gasped, "Donnie, you know I can't do that. Not after the prank, we pulled on him,". Donnie faked sadness and noogied his brother. "Not my problem. You owe me a favor too, I'm calling it in." Leo relented but the two continued to bicker, Sil could not help but giggle. "It would be the greatest help you could offer me. Glad to see you trusting me a little," she told Leo.
The slider blushed unexpectedly, "Yeah, yeah. Whatever. I'm doing this for Donnie,"
"Now that that's settled. We need one more thing. If we do get ambushed I need Sil to get away from us as fast as possible and run to safety. She will need her mystic powers for that." Draxum pointed to the cuffs around her hand.
---
Seated comfortably in the rotating chair, Donnie delicately held Sil's wrist as he unlocked the meticulous cuffs. Sil daydreamed. Thinking about everything the day had brought about.
"And... there we go." Donnie exclaimed with child-like happiness. "Give your powers a try?"
Sil nodded. She felt the powers collecting at the tips of her fingers as she conjured up a mini-portal big enough for her hand to pass through. When she withdrew her hand back, she brought a cup of steaming coffee. "Works just fine," she laughed, handing the cup to Donnie.
Donatello laughed. "You ready for tomorrow?"
Sil glanced at him from under her lashes, "Honestly, I don't know. It's a lot to process."
Donnie nodded thoughtfully. He then did the unthinkable and reached for Sil's hand. She gasped in surprise, and also at how softly he held her palms. "I-We'll be there with you along the way."
Sil watched him with glittering eyes, "Thank you, Donnie."
Donatello's heart swelled, 'for you, everything.' he promised silently in his soul.

she felt a sense of responsibility and a sense of protection

He didn't know why he became so riled up. The male turtle puffed his chest, and his shoulders broadened. He now towered over Dianne's frame, looking at her through half-lidded eyes
His usually exposed plastron became a lot more inviting and drew most of her attention since he was practically breathing down on her, chest moving steadily.
~~~~~ His tiny heart was beating so fast he feared he'd burst a vein. Then again, he reacted this way around Dianne.
There she was.
Smiling ever so sweetly. Her curly hair perfectly framed her face, her tan skin shimmering under the purple lights, and her eyes like diamonds. She is perfect. To Donatello, despite his brain telling him that these feelings were all for not, his heart said otherwise.
Chapter 8 - Too Much Heaven
Previous All Stories
The baron slammed his fist on the ground and began looking around with anger.
Seconds passed then a sharp shrill pierced through the air. The Silver Knight leaped out of her portal with two screaming boys right behind her. She fell with style landing gracefully. Donnie and Casey fell face down. "Come on. We need to get going!" Sil urged, shaking Donnie awake from his awestruck.
"Your portal-"
"Yes, I know," Sil grunted pulling him and Casey up. "We were in space!" Casey clutched at his hair.
"Yes, yes, but we really need to go now!" She said in a hurry as the baron had his men pointing up to the roof. Some of Big Mama's men close behind.
"HOW- Wha- SIL THAT WAS-"
"Amazing, I know but please gush over this later Donnie!" The Silver Knight held his palm tightly and pulled him into a run. Casey yanked by his gear.
youtube
A knife flew right at the trio from the front as the goons tried to box them in. Sil ran forwards, slapping her hands to create a powerful burst of energy knocking some goons to the ground. A new portal opened up and the teens jumped in.
They reappeared on another rooftop just up ahead.
And that's how it went. If the bounty hunters got too close for comfort, Sil would portal them to another rooftop. Far enough to get at least a few minutes of a head start before the heat of the chase would pick up again.
---
"Damn it! There are too many of them!" Casey grumbled, sending another round of explosives toward the hunters. Sil created another portal, transporting the three of them to another rooftop not too far away, just enough to give them a five-minute gap from the goons behind. The portal opened and Donnie and Casey jumped out, adrenaline pumping in their veins all prepared to fight. Sil jumped out after them and landed unceremoniously. "Hey, you good?"
Donnie worriedly checked her over for any wounds. "What's wrong?" Casey asked worriedly.
Sil struggled to stand, sighing "I can only create so many portals at a time. We've been going at this for ten minutes and I have created more than twenty portals. Give or take a few more and I am done for."
Yells could be heard from behind them. Donnie stood up in front of Sil protectively, "Think you can make another portal?" Sil focused all her energy on her fingertips. The tingling sensation began. Sil grunted feeling a bolt of sweat drip down her forehead beneath her mask.
"I-I can't." she huffed tiredly. Casey patted her back comfortingly. Although he could not see, Sil offered him a sweet smile. Something about this boy comforting her felt oddly familiar.
Donnie channeled his mystic energy to his tech-bo adding a heavily loaded hammer on one end. "We make our stand here."
The three squared their shoulders as the goons finally made it to their roof. "You know what we want!" Big Mama's goons pointed their weapons at Donnie and the two.
"No! Hand her to us and the baron will let you live a worry-free life."
"How about this? Neither of you gets the damsel and all of you will walk away with your lives untraumatized by my sweet sweet science!" Donatello glared.
"An amazing threat but seeing as we are both men of science, you will hand over the Silver Knight to me," the baron appeared in a flash of red, stepping out from a hellish-looking portal he made.
"The baron has portal powers?" Donnie asked bewildered.
"Apparently..." Sil shuddered, feeling the intense energy rippling out of the baron. It seems that even Big Mama's hunters felt it and began to back away. The baron trailed his gaze towards the Spider's bounty hunters. "I see you recognize power. Not even Big Mama can impose such respect and fear."
Donnie turned to find that Big Mama's goons were indeed shaking with fear. "Go back to her and announce the winner of today. I will graciously let you live," the baron's voice grew darker. The goons gulped. Finally one of them barked orders to back off, "Big Mama will hear about this..." they growled, leaving the rooftop with their tails tucked under their legs. The baron just smiled, way too gently for someone reeking of evil powers. His beady red eyes then turned to the trio.
"I hope my demonstration of power has made you come to your senses," he spoke to Donnie. "The girl, if you please." Donnie didn't need to reply. He took a fighting stance, Casey doing the same right behind him.
The baron groaned disappointedly. Snapping his fingers, red tendrils flew out of the still-open portal and wrapped tightly around the turtle and the human, tying them to the ground and choking the air out of them.
"NO!" Sil screamed. "Look just stop!" she pleaded to the baron.
"Then come back to me. Surrender the meteor and yourself,"
Sil couldn't. She just couldn't. If the meteor fell into the baron's hands who knows what evil he would reek across the hidden city, and it would all be her fault.
Seeing the girl's hesitance, the baron signaled for his hunters to play threat. They sneered, bearing their weapons at Donnie's and Casey's necks. "One wrong move, my dear, and your friend pay the price," he said. Gagging came from the boys, Donnie and Casey turning a little blue from the squeeze from the baron's red hold. The goons laughed, one decided to sink the tip of his blade slightly into Donnie's neck. The turtle groaned but couldn't fight back.
"No. Ok fine. You made your point just don't hurt him. Don't hurt them," she begged again. The baron held his hand out wordlessly. Sil increased her grip on the bag. The gargled noises from Donnie and Casey being choked made her jump and she quickly produced the meteorite.
Behind her, she could hear Donnie trying to fight back. Casey told her in a gargled voice to run. She could not bring herself to. How could she? Sil knew she couldn't fight back either. She is a thief, not a warrior, and when the thief gets caught they must surrender.
The baron smirked as he watched the girl walk forwards with the meteorite in hand. He bent down to her level and smirked. A wicked thought passed by his twisted mind. He reached out a hand to remove her mask relishing quickly how the Silver Knight had tears in her eyes and wearing a look of defeat. Chuckling he turned her around and held her chin in a vice grip, craning her face forcefully to face the two boys.
Donnie fought back relentlessly against the baron's hold despite the knife shifting deeper into the skin of his neck, screaming threats, and profanities at the baron if he dared lay a hand Sil.
Casey. Casey Jones Jr, he had the world's most terrible deja vu. He knew those eyes, no. He knows those eyes. Dark and familiar, but caring all the same. He'd seen those eyes before when he was younger, in the future. The eyes of his cousin's mother. The eyes of someone he lost a long time ago. Casey began to shed tears, "It- it can't be,"
"I want you to remember this day as the day you failed to keep them alive." The baron whispered with a voice laced with poison. Sil broke down in tears but she made no sound, having no strength to fight back. The baron reached down to Sil's hands and plucked the meteorite. Pleased, he nodded to his goons "Bury them alive."
Three things happened. One, the hunters dropped an armed bomb between Donnie and Casey.
Two, the baron held Sil by her neck with one of his red tendrils and threw her over the roof before disappearing into the red portal with the hunters.
Three, Donnie had only felt this mass amount of range and protectiveness blooming from his chest. One when Raph jumped off the cliff, the first time the boys activated their ninpo. Two, when Leo was trapped in the Krang prison dimension, and three, when his precious Sil was thrown off the roof by some wicked scientist.
Even though he had only known the girl for a few days, Donnie naturally found himself in need of her. She felt like a missing piece of a puzzle for when she arrived, he felt complete. Donatello felt like he could do anything in the world when Sil was by his side. How uncharacteristic of him to feel such intense feelings over one girl he barely knew. Is this how future him felt towards his supposed wife?
Maybe this time, we would know.
Would teenage him in the now ever believe in destiny?
Who was he to say without experiencing it for himself? After all, the purple genius always made sure to conclude his findings with more than two data points. Searing power exploded from within Hamato Donatello. His Hamato Ninpo burst like flames, purple energy searching out like a firey sunburst all around him. Donnie's ninpo burned the tendrils holding him and Casey to dust.
In lightning speed, he pulled Casey off the roof and away from the bomb. The purple terrapin launched himself off the roof. His ninpo like an extension of him caught his damsel in distress. The trio fell off the roof, cushioned by Donnie's mystic energy as it formed a ball around them at Donnie's command. The bomb when off sending debris flying everywhere. In the mystic purple barrier, Donnie hugged Sil close to himself unknowingly shedding tears of his own.
When the debris settled enough, the mystic energy dissipated. Sil cried in Donnie's arms till she passed out of sheer exhaustion.
The boys remained silent as Donnie picked up Sil oh so gently. "Do you have any idea who she is?" Casey asked suddenly. His eyes had a sad glow to them. "What do you mean? We don't have time for this right now," he said softly and tried to walk by Casey.
"No. Listen, you have- you don't know do you?" The young human asked. Now pity was evident in his tone. "Tsk, I have no time to play guessing games, Casey. Contact Leo, and let him know to meet us here. I'll send the coordinates."
"I won't until you tell me you an inkling of who that woman really is!" Casey demanded.
Donnie grumbled and stepped closer, "What does it matter to you who she is, huh?"
"BECAUSE THAT'S YOUR WIFE!"
Donnie was silenced in shock. His eyes twitched in disbelief. "You're delusion Casey."
"I am not. You have no right telling me that I do not recognize my mother figure anywhere." Casey cried, feeling nostalgia and lost love looking at the woman in Donnie's arms. "Yeah well, you are delusional. You said that my supposed wife's name was Dianne. Her name is Sil," Donnie retaliated, nodding to the sleeping damsel in his arms., though he knew Sil was just a fake name.
"I think it's pretty clear you know that's fake." Casey pointed to the fear crossing Donnie's face. "Prove it," the purple turtle challenged. Casey's hand shook slightly as he reached for his top pocket. Donatello watched curiously as the young boy pulled out a lightly crumbled piece of paper.
A photo.
"Just see this. Look, Donnie. I know this is probably the last thing you want to hear but trust me when I say, I know those eyes anywhere. I know her eyes anywhere, anytime."
Donnie hesitated, then gently kneeled to let Sil's lower half body rest on the ground. Her head and torso leaned into Donnie's plastron.
Casey allowed Donatello to pluck the paper from his hands. Reality crashed down on him. "I-I," the soft shell turtle lowered the photo and looked to the girl, then back to Casey. Tears pooled in his eyes. "She's my wife.."
"She's my wife," Donnie whispered, unable to believe his eyes and ears. Casey didn't know how to comfort the genius, so he just sat with him in silence.
How did Donatello feel? Donnie had the most amount of emotions ever experienced in his life. He felt scared. He felt tense. He felt betrayed that Sil didn't even think of sharing her real name with him. Donnie would have gone on forgetting that 'Sil' was just a shorter term for her alias. Would she have betrayed him though? She didn't know Donnie. She didn't hear what Casey said about her future. Or their future?
"Master Donatello, are you alright?"
Donnie frantically blinked away his tears, not knowing what to say or think. "You are sure- She is Dianne? Dianne Rosette?"
No wonder being caring and kind came so naturally to him when Donatello and her were with each other. He knew her. He knows her. But she doesn't know him. Damn all the shameless flirting, lingering looks, and hand-holding. No wonder he didn't feel disgusted like he normally would with his brothers or anyone else. She was different. She was his? Was she his? Was he, hers?
"Yes. I know she is." Casey replied in a small voice. Donnie looked at Casey for a while, taking in the other male's demeanor. It isn't his fault, Donnie told himself. "It's alright. Sorry, I shouted, Casey. I just... have so much to think about now"
The younger boy nodded. Donnie decided to move from the current topic. He maneuvered Dianne-Sil, the girl in his arms to carry her again when he felt warm liquid dripping down her arm and onto his then the ground. "Shit. Shit shit shit!"
"What's wrong?" Casey asked worriedly. "Her arm is bleeding. Casey, hold her sleeves up please," Casey did as Donnie requested. The both of them gasped as they saw silver cracks running up the brunette's brown skin. "Energy burns," the boys said together.
Donnie nodded in finality, "Just like Mikey's when he opens portals. We need to get her home for medical treatment. She's losing blood, slowly but surely."
Casey took the wristband that Donnie gave him to contact Leo and pass their coordinates. Above all else, he just wanted to get home.
"Oh, can Casey. Please don't tell anyone yet. I just... I need some peace before Mikey, Leo, or Raph, especially Splinter come to rant in my ear about ... her."
---
Back at the lair, Donnie left Casey to explain everything that happened with the Baron of the North. Baron Draxum was beyond furious that the filth and sorry excuse of a yokai laid hands on his little girl. After much explanation, they soon figured out that Donnie had begun treating Sil because of the burns on her arms. Draxum wanted to see Sil right away but Casey made some medical excuse as in to not interrupt the doctor.
Donnie finally sat down with a huff, leaning back into his chair with exhaustion. A lot happened today. Too much in fact. The purple turtle watched the sleeping injured girl on the medical bed. Her vitals are doing fine and her body didn't sustain any major injuries. Just her hands.
Donatello rubbed his face, "What the heck am I going to do." He peeked out from between his fingers, looking at Sil. No Dianne? Sil? The purple genius groaned, tilting his head back just as he felt a rush of warmth race to his face. Thinking of her real name in his head made him flush. He loved that feeling but hated it the same. Donatello didn't want to believe in destiny and things set in stone but it seemed that his future wife is now here right in front of his eyes.
Not that the others knew, except for Jones Jr. It's better his family does not find out about this right now.
A knock drew Donnie's attention from the thief to the med door. Draxum asked silently if he could enter and Donnie allowed him to. Draxum walked to the other side of Dianne's bed and gently inspected her hands. "She's stable now. Didn't lose too much blood. She's healing well." Donnie offered a small amount of comfort. Draxum just nodded, "She's very hard-headed. Brave, intelligent though stupid sometimes driven by sentiment." Draxum let out a small genuine chuckle, "Still, she's a better person than I can ever be."
Donnie laughed lightly, "Yeah, she is," Draxum watched Donnie with keen eyes, especially at how the turtle seemed to grow softer near Sil's being and the fact that his eyes seemed to shine brighter when he was around her.
"Thank you for protecting Dianne."
He heard it again. Her name. Donnie pretended not to know the name for he played false surprise and confusion. "Dianne?"
Draxum nodded, "Dianne Rosette. That's her full name. Though please do not call her that. She rather reveals her name in her own time. If she knew I did mention her real name she'd have my head."
Donnie blushed a little. Cute but mean, just his style. Damn her and damn time-traveling plot conveniences. Draxum patted the turtle's shoulders in a silent thanks before leaving the medbay. Draxum felt something emerging between the turtle and his niece, something good in nature. But the teens had a full day of extreme excitement and danger. He'll ask the turtle about Dianne at another time.
Donnie decided to call it a night after checking on a few more items on his list. Once satisfied, Donnie switched the night light on. He took one last look at ... at her face. Donatello made up his mind. He would pretend not to know Dianne's identity until she decided to tell him or maybe forever.
He didn't believe in destiny. He didn't want destined love if it had to be forced. Donatello's bad-boy image began to surface, which was either good or bad. Definitely bad since Donnie already had some sort of hots for Dianne-no, Sil. He felt his heart twist. Donnie decided to pretend. Pretend that Dianne was still Sil. Pretend he did not know Dianne.
His eyes trailed over the soft features of her face, admiring the way the lights gently bounced off her soft skin. For tonight, he bid her good rest without mentioning either of her names.
That was how Dianne Hamato entered his life in the future, it is how she will enter his even now.
Chapter 7 - Tragedy
Previous All Stories
The Silver Knight sighed heavily, grimacing at the reflection in the mirror.  "Don't worry. For yokai standards, you are a piece of beauty,". Sunita had just fastened the mystic cloaking broach on Sil's gear, changing her into a white and grey cat yokai, having the ears and facial features of a cat with silky grey fur on her hands and legs, a white fluffy tail to go along with it, though still having to walk on two legs.
"Why do I have to be a - achoo!- cat?" Sil's eyes watered and she sniffled. "Hmm... allergic to cats. Bummer, but it's maybe because you have cat-like reflexes," Sunita smiled sympathetically. "I guess that could be true. Thanks anyways, I owe you one," Sil squeezed Sunita's hand, passing her a grateful look. "Anything for my girls. Let's get going!"
---
Sil stepped out of the shadows smiling nervously at her so-called established escort team. Obviously, Donatello was with her. "Presenting, Miss Felicity!" Sunita cheered. Mikey cooed immediately, "Oh mee gosh! Sil you look so cute,". Sil's 'cat-ears' flattened on her head with embarrassment, making Donnie hide a chuckle. The Silver Knight just shook her head, "Uncle Drax, I'm disguised. We should get going,". The older yokai nodded and commanded Donnie to pass the now securely wrapped meteorite to Sil.
"Draxum, Raph, you take the back of the pack. Mikey and Donnie, stay by her side. Sunita and I will be up ahead. Keep in tight formation but don't make it too obvious. Remember the plan," Leo warned, "-we are a tourist coming to visit the Hidden City and Sunita is our googly yokai guide. When we reach Senor Hueso's portal, we need to fall into character. Dad, April, Cassandra, and Casey Jr will be watching us once we enter and will warn us if they see anyone who looks suss. If anything happens spread out as we planned. All good?"
Raph nodded proudly and tipped Leo off with a huge thumbs up, the others nodded determinedly. Leo smugly swiped his swords across the air and the iconic blue portals fizzled to life. The group of yokai, mutant, and human stepped into the blue pool and instantly found themselves in Senor Hueso's kitchen at Run of the Mill's Pizza. "That was interesting," Sil awed in a whisper, catching Leo's attention. "Impressed?" the turtle said with a smirk. Sil nodded, "Yeah. Your portals work like a door. Mine kinda brings you through a few seconds of a weird dimension then you pop back where you need to be."
youtube
"Ouuuu.... you totally gotta show Neon Leon how it works," Leo swung his hand over Sil's shoulder and the girl smiled. "Sure. Anyways, who's this Senor Hueso? Is it that skin-looking guy over there?"
Leo grumbled, "No. That is his brother, Capitan Pielle the uh... skin yokai? I'll introduce you guys later but right now..." removing his arm over Sil's shoulder, Leo sneaked up on the skin yokai with the sneakiest face the red-eared slidder could ever muster "HEY SKINNY! WHERE'S  BONE MAN?"
"AY!" the skin-yokai shouted, a loud cry was heard coming from a smaller bone boy hiding behind the skin-yokai. Mikey smacked Leo up his head and apologized, "Sorry, Hueso Jr. Leo's an idiot but we are looking for your dad."
"Ah, my brother did mention he was awaiting your arrival. Mi hijo, please get your papa from his office?"
The little bone boy nodded and hopped off. Now Capitan Pielle was free to give Leo his own head smacking, earning a chuckle from his brothers. "Ah! What was that for?" Leo whined. "That was for giving me a heart attack and scaring my nephew." The captain with the pirate's hat then turned into one cat-like figure. "I take it that you are the Silver Knight?"
"And how do you know this?" Draxum glared at the skin yokai. Leo quickly stepped in, "Actually, I recruited him. The Capitan is the best when it comes to portals. Since portal jacking used to be his thing if, it happens to us-"
"-he could help us with the experience he has. Smart move fearless leader." Sil sent Leo a smirk.
"Any friend of the turtles is a friend of my brother and me." smiled the skin-yokai. "Although, I must warn you about the recent bounty on your head. There is a rumor that even Big Mama could be involved in this since a few yokai have seen her bondsmen around the city." Donnie pointed out urgently, "That's why we need Hueso's help. We need to enter the city under the radar."
"That's a good thing that I still keep your numbers, especially after Mr. Blue and Mr. Purple's prank that backfired and accidentally made a man-eating pizza." entered the Bone Man himself cradling the younger bone boy.
"That's Senor Hueso?" Sil asked looking up at Raph. The red-clad turtle nodded, "The one and only.  Don't worry, he and Pielle are family friends." Sil smiled gently, "The young boy is Bone Guy's son?" Raph nodded.
Leo jumped and hugged the skeleton, much to the other's displeasure. "Bone Man! Thanks for helping us out. I always knew you had a good heart behind that curtain of sarcasm."
Hueso rolled his black eyes, "Yes, yes. I know. So, is she the one?" he pointed towards Sil in her cat yokai disguise. Leo let go of Hueso as the Bone Man walked towards Sil, inspecting the disguise. He handed Hueso Jr to Donnie who reluctantly held him. Still, the Bone Boy giggled as he began to play with Donnie's goggles.
"She is," Sil replied on her behalf. "Silver Knight at your service."
Hueso wore an impressive look on his face, "The disguise works well if you were to only fool the Baron of the North's bondsmen."
"I assume not enough to fool Big Mama's men?"
The Bone Man unfortunately shook his head. "She only has a few bounty hunters out in the city. They are very hard to track so I would suggest all of you be on high alert. Plus, Big Mama has her bounty hunters trained to pick out mystic disguises."
Leo called up Splinter to tell him about Hueso's warning about Big Mama's goons before giving Hueso and Pielle the go signal to activate the portal. Just like Leo, Capitan Pielle used his pirate sword to open a portal, a green one this time. "This portal will lead you to an empty alleyway. Not many yokai wander that area so you can enter without being watched," Hueso explained.
Leo nodded and gestured to the others to prepare. Little taps on Donnie's shoulder drew his attention to the Bone Boy still nestled in his arms. "Can I talk to her before you go?" he asked in a sweet voice. Donnie looked to Bone Man who only shrugged his shoulders. "Sure kiddo." Setting Bone Boy on his feet, Donnie watched with a soft smile as Hueso Jr ran up to Sil and tugged on her pant leg. "Here's a small pirate coin for you. It brings good luck! I think you are very pretty..." The Silver Knight cooed. "Thank you. Hueso Jr, right? I will keep this with me all the time." They fist-bumped each other and the little Bone Boy squealed with joy, jumping over to his Papa.
"Take care of each other. When this mission is done, I will have free pizzas waiting for celebration!"
With one final breath, the team marched through the portal.
---
"Alright, let's step out of the shadows," Leo cooly swaggered his way out of the alleyway and pretended to be a tourist. Sunita began to play her part as the tour guide, pulling out facts and pointing out objects along the way as they neared the bust town. The noise of the market began to fill up their ears and vendors and frustrated customers haggled over prices. Yokai's bumping into each other and them didn't make things any easier. The group huddled together, now mostly brushing shoulder to shoulder.
Draxum felt his fur bristle in nervous anticipation as he yanked a wanted flyer from a nearby stall. "I don't like this. There are already wanted flyers at the edge of town. I can't imagine what it would be like at the center." Several shadows zoomed up ahead. Raph signaled to the group, "Don't worry. Dad, April, Cass, and Casey Jr are in position. They'll alert us if they see anything weird." he comforted Draxum.
"Gah, everyone just pushing up against us. Ever heard of personal space?" Donnie grimaced as another yokai unceremoniously stepped on his foot. "This looks like a breeding place for pickpockets."
Just as Donnie said that two yokai bumped right into Mikey and Sil. "Hey, watch it, lady!" One yellow-finned yokai growled, snatching Sil's right hand in a vice grip. The other blue-finned, barring its claws, snarled at Mikey as the turtle in orange tried to push them away. "Woah chill out, bruh!" Leo pushed his body between the yokai's putting distance between his youngest brother and Sil. Raphael hovering close by the two buffing himself out to look bigger and intimidating.
"We got no bone to pick with you. It's the whose eyes need to be checked!" The blue-finned yokai threatened, only to receive a blunt force to his chest by Donnie's tech-bo. "That's enough. It's just an accident." The two yokai tensed, being confronted by Leo and Donnie. "Move along buckaroo." The yokai glanced at each other, then one of them raised their hands up in surrender. Draxum watched them under a harsh glare as they walked off.
"We should get moving," Leo commanded dragging Sunita along with him. Donnie decided to turn around once more just to make sure the troublemakers had made some distance but found the yellow-finned yokai eyeing the bad that Sil carried. The purple turtle approached Draxum and Raph, "Just for safety measures, we might need to keep close eyes on those yokai.  They seem pretty interested in Sil's bag." Donnie then looked up to where four pairs of white-glazed eyes remained fixated on them peaking from the shadows. He sent them a warning look before joining the others.
---
Up on the roofs, April and Cassandra tailed the yokai who had bumped into Mikey and Sil. The yokai walked a little before ducking quickly into a corner. Cassandra signaled for April to follow her moves. The two females scaled down the roof and landed a safe distance from the yokai, close enough to hear them speak. "..you sure she's the girl?" the first yokai with blue fins asked.
"Please, that ridiculous cat disguise could only fool mediocre hunters. Call Big Mama and tell her we found the girl," the yellow-finned yokai replied. Anger filled April's eyes, "We need to stop them and warn the others," she whispered to Cassandra. The former Foot-clan recruit pounded her fists together. "You do that. I'm gonna can me some tuna." Letting out a battle cry, Cass did a triple backflip, slapping away the mystic orb away from Yellow Fin.
"YOUR PLANS HAVE BEEN SEVERELY FOILED! April, get the orb!" the brunette burst out behind Cassandra, snatched the fallen orb then smoke bombed away to the rooftops.
Yellow Fin and Blue Fin were startled. "Get her!" Blue Fin leaped to the roof chasing April, leaving Cassandra to Yellow Fin, "Why doncha' surrender before I turn you into a DISGUSTING TUNA SANDWICH!"
---
"Co- Come in. I repeat, come in! Ther-- Hunters! On your way!"
"April?" Donnie raised his voice in alarm frantically waiting for April's voice to boom back through his wristband. The others halted to a stop.
"I repeat. Big Mama's guys are on to you. I have their communication orb thingy. Big Mama doesn't know and our plan isn't compromised but please get to safety and -" Their communication was cut off when a loud crash came from the marketplace behind them. Draxum and Raph stood in a fighting stance. Screams and yells began to grow. With a burst of blue smoke came a flying April O'Neill. She landed with a thud on the ground, orb secured in her hands, "RUN!"
Blue Fin whistled suddenly. Two short whistles and one long whistle. Within moments from within the crowd, five other yokai joined the chase. More bounty hunters.
"Get cover!" Raph yelled, activating his sais. Red energy soared in the air as Raph ran toward April to bash and smash some bounty hunters. "Michelangelo, go!" Draxum ordered then ran off to help the red snapping turtle.
Mikey launched his chucks in the air and elongated them to reach up to the roofs. A powerful orange aura burst in flames, igniting the sky with a brilliant glow. The 'Bounty Hunters have Found Us Sign' flashed brightly for Splinter and Casey Jr to see. Mikey landed with a thud and went off to help his big brother.
On the ground, Leo, Donnie, Sunita, and Sil had begun running with all the other fleeing yokai. One harsh bump on Sil's shoulder sent her cloaking broach flying to the ground and shattered on impact. The Silver Knight is there for all to see, with another just like her. "I'm all set," Sunita turned around looking exactly like Sil,  hair, eyes, bag, and all as she jumped into the distraction part of the plan. Hair, eyes, bag, and all. Sunita hid her cloaking broach in her pockets to match Sil since the Silver Knight no longer had one.
All seemed well until the crowd began to turn around and run in the direction they just came from and any other direction than forwards. Leo skidded to a halt, "To the roofs!" Donnie activated his jet pack only to receive a spear going right through one of the rotors. Up on the roofs was a gang of bounty hunters. These new ones wearing black uniforms. "Damn it!" Sil cursed.
Sensing someone approaching from the back, she yanked the spear off Donnie's jet pack and launched it full force at the intruder. The spear hit him right between his legs. "Stay back!" More black-attired hunters revealed themselves, crawling out between alleyways and abandoned stalls.
Donnie lifted himself off the ground and twirled his tech-bo defensively. Leo and Sunita huddled behind them, the slider barring both of his swords as another group of hunters surrounded them from the front, these ones not wearing any uniform.
"Enough games! Show us the real Silver Knight," one of the black-clad yokai's screamed.
 "You's do your best and stay away from Big Mama's bounty. If yer can't even see through a simple disguise you's got no claim on the bounty." Leo identified the yokai without uniforms as Big Mama's hunters. Leo activated his mystic powers as a silent display of threat.
"If Big Mama really has a claim, then why isn't the eight-legged beast not here?" The goons in black began to laugh, parting slightly in the middle to let a sickly-looking lizard yokai walk through. Sil gasped, hands tightening on her bag. "What's wrong?" Donnie whispered.
"That's him. That's the Baron of the North."
The baron chuckled evilly. "The real Silver Knight. Hand her over purple one,"
"How did you's even know?" Big Mama's bounty hunter huffed angrily. The Baron of the North simply smiled, "While the Spider may have hunters well trained to pick out silly disguises, my men are better spies. We caught your fishy friends trying to inform Big Mama about their find."
"Thankfully we had two well-timed and unplanned distractions. Your friend I think," the baron pointed to the turtles. "The lady with the buzz cut certainly beat the yellowfin to a pulp. So in other words, thank you for graciously giving my hunter the luxury of time to group together. Now, surrender the Silver Knight and everyone walks away free and unharmed."
"*Scoff*. As if we'll do that," Donnie rolled his eyes to make the baron laugh almost wholeheartedly. "You are funny, Mr Purple. However, I was not asking. I'm demanding." with a snap of his fingers, the baron's men armed themselves to the bone. Big Mama's hunters mirror as well.
"Three seconds..." the baron smiled. "One.."
"Sunita, keep the disguise. We can fool some of the baron's guys." Leo told her.
"Two..."
"Backup imminent" Donnie whispered to his brother.
"...Three...-"
"HOT SOUP!"
From the top of the roof, came the one and only Lou Jitsu and Casey Jones. Leo threw one of his swords toward his father. Clenching a fist, Leo created a portal under Splinter and Casey, instantly transporting them in the middle of Big Mama's men.
"My sons, get Sil out of here. Allow your papa to look cool once in a while." Splinter said, tossing one hunter over his shoulder with his tail and punching another in the stomach. "Casey, help them."
"Yes, Sensei!", replied the boy.
"Attack them! Attack them now and don't lose my knight!" The baron screamed. His men yelled, running forwards to attack Big Mama's men and the tiny rat man.
---
"Well, it's about time!" Leo yelled over at Casey, bending backward as Donnie swiped his tech-bo over him to hit a bounty hunter in the face.
"Sorry. Had some goons in the way," he shouted.
A silver portal opened above the boys and out came Sunita and Sil, both with their masks adorned. "Silver Knights?"
"Knight," Sil corrected and shook Casey's hand. "She's a distraction. We need to get going now!" Leo and Sunita nodded. The two leaped up and ran head-first toward the baron and his men. Kicking and punching anyone that came in their way. "Adios loser!" Leo and Sunita knocked the baron over with a dual-power kick. "GAH! Get her! Get my knight!" In his state of blur, the baron orders his easily fooled and somewhat forgetful men to chase after the imposter.
Donnie, Sil, and Casey watched from their spot as the baron's man began to chase the distraction. "Let's go!" the three tried to quietly slip away but some of Big Mama's hunters got in the way.
"GET HER!"
The Baron of the North turned just in time to see the purple turtle with another silver knight and the younger boy beside them. "Damn it! We're chasing the wrong one! The rest of you, after them!"
Donnie narrowed his gaze and growled while Casey took out his hockey stick saw. "We have no time for this," Sil muttered and yanked the boys by their arms. "Hold on!" She shouted and slammed both her palms together. The silver portal exploded to life and the Silver Knight pulled the boys in. The portal snapped shut leaving behind the hunters who slammed into each other.
The baron slammed his fist on the ground and began looking around with anger.
Mr and Mrs Hamato
Chapter 4 - Mutant-Yokai-Human
Previous All Stories
The thief woke up to several light taps on her shoulder. She mumbled a little, something about sheep then swatted the hand. After a few seconds, the tapping continued. The girl groaned tiredly and cracked an eye open.  Some turtle with a red mask stood by her bed, "Hey, you're awake. Good morning, uh, Miss Thief?" he scratched his neck nervously. The girl did a little stretch and nodded, "Good morning. Also, Miss Thief?"
Raph shrugged his shoulders, "You didn't give a name. You wouldn't give your name would ya?"
"No. Private and confidential because of the occupation and all. Would an alias settle your curiosity?"
"Sure, as long we don't have to call you the thief girl or Miss Thief,"
"My alias is Silver Knight, but just call me Silver or Sil for now," she offered with a smile.
Raph extended his hand out for a shake, "Well then Sil, my name's Hamato Raphael but you can call me Raph. I thought it would be time for a proper introduction," Sil smiled brightly and shook his hand, "Thanks, Raph. I caught your name before but thanks."
youtube
Raph escorted Sil to the kitchen where they met the rest of the turtles.
"Oh, hey girl. You are just in time for breakfast!" Mikey welcomed them and waved them over will a spatula in his hands. The girl was greeted by the sweet aroma of whatever Mikey decided to create.
"Do we really need to share our table with a common thief?" Leo's jab made Mikey groan. "We are over this, Leonardo. She's a good person, I can tell. She was just doing her job. If she wanted to hurt us she would have done it already," The turtle in blue rolled his eyes then walked right up into Sil's personal space and glared at her.
"We are taking her in as a captive, not a guest," he informed, "and I suggest you not to get comfortable around my family. I don't trust you or your shady employer." Sil huffed in amusement, "The feeling's mutual, Leonardo. I don't trust you either. But as Mikey said, if I wanted to harm you I would have done so already." Sil winked and tried to move away but Leo lunged forwards and grasped tightly around her wrist.
"Whatever, thief. You better watch your step. One wrong move and I will slay you." Both individuals passed hateful glares at the other. "Let go of me" she threatened.
Just before the two of them could get into a fight, Raph jumped in the middle and parted them. Sil yanked her wrist and cradled it close to her chest. "Cool it, Leo. She couldn't go anywhere if she wanted to with those mystic cuffs on and she would not leave without her package."
Leo looked upwards at his brother and sighed. "Fine," he begrudgingly sat in his chair. "Also just so we all know, she goes my Sil." Raph gently guided her to sit between himself and Donnie, while Mikey set the food down on the table. "Sil, a wonderful name," the orange-speckled turtle beamed. Donnie as per usual decided to let his expertise in knowledge shine.
"Sil? Is that short for something? Most likely not your actual name since you obviously keep the details of your transaction private. Giving out your real name would be a foolish move, though awfully generous, and could jeopardize your job."
Sil listened to the purple turtle, amused and impressed to a certain degree. "Possibly an alias? Code name?" he turned to ask her. "I have to hand it to you. On all accounts you are right. Sil is just a shorter version of my alias" Sil explained. She thanked Mikey silently as he passed her a plate of waffles.
"Sil, huh? Let me guess, short for silver tongue 'cause you somehow managed to persuade my brothers into thinking you're some good thief?" Everyone at the table groaned again, Sil just gave Leo a dull look. "Drop it, Nardo. This topic has become very repetitive," Donnie slowly told his brother.
"Oh, no worries. He isn't any trouble at all, " Sil sweetly told the purple turtle. "I would have you know, Blue, that Silver Tongue is not the correct alias. I do have to be persuasive in my line of work and when I persuade, you can tell. Right now, I am just stuck here, with you out of all other tolerable people, and am making the best out of it. So to answer your question, no, my full alias isn't Silver Tongue."
Leo sighed tiredly, "Fine then, Sil. What is your alias?"
"Pretty simple. It's Silver Knight."
Mikey clapped his hands with glee, "Ouu... Sounds fancy." They began breakfast.
Sil giggled, "Thanks, Mike."
"I assume it's because of your silver portals?" the slider asked again.
Sil nodded, poking at her waffle with a little wince as her wrist moved. "Yepp. The alias is also very unique to me since I am the only person known in the Hidden City to be able to create silver portals."
The turtles looked at each other with surprise, "How does a human even find a job in the Hidden City, let alone be able to use mystic energy?" The leader tried to dig for answers, but this time found his curiosity peaking.
Sil shrugged, "I sincerely do not understand it myself. All I know is that I was a regular human up till I was four years old having no recollection whatsoever of my family. Then one day, I could create portals. Not sure why. Which is why the item I stole is very important to my employer, and also to myself, I guess."
Donnie tilted his head in curiosity and leaned closer towards Sil with interest, "I thought your employer wanted it to study yokai and mutants?"
"Yes, he does. Yokai and mutants have mystic energy running through themselves naturally. In other words, anything with mystic energy in them is in fact either of those two things." Sil spilled the facts nonchalantly.
Raph gasped, "Wait, that means your-"
A knowing smile etched on Sil's lips, "Yep, boys. I am either yokai or a mutant myself." She then grinned as she watched the turtle's faces go through all kinds of emotions. Mikey looked more excited than anything else. Raph wore a mixture of excitement and shock. Leo looked dumbfounded while Donnie seemed to have stars in his eyes. Sil laughed in amusement.
"Guys, it's not that of a big deal. I'm sure you've encountered way crazier people along the way,"
The purple turtle was sent spiraling out of his mind. "Not a bid deal?" He grabbed Sil by the shoulders and spun her to face him. His eyes did have stars in them, "Sil, do you know what this means? This is a breakthrough of a century. You are a human with mystic powers. This fact will change eons of yokai and human relations and might as well be the answer to possible human-yokai conflict."
Sil smiled warmly, "I know,"
Donnie's smile grew ever sweeter, "Wow, you're a walking miracle. Do you know that?" He then deepened his gaze and his eyes seemed to glaze over as a warm feeling took over his body, "a really beautiful and amazing miracle." Sil's eyes suddenly felt warmth race to her face as she drowned in Donnie's puppy eyes. The two were so caught up with each other that neither realized the other three were staring at them. Raph smirked at the two, Mikey with hearts in his eyes and Leo looking done and disgusted.
A blue portal burst behind Donnie and Sil. Leo jumped out and shoved Donnie away from Sil, hugging his twin protectively. "Alright, cut it out. You are a weird human person, we get that. Let's keep our hands to ourselves, m'kay," the blue terrapin sassed.
Sil and Donnie blushed and looked away, leaving Mikey and Raph to giggle at their childish behavior. Donnie moved out of Leo's hug looking all hot and bothered. Leo shook his head, "Anyways if we are done with whatever this is, Pops, Sheepman, April, and Cassandra are waiting for us in the hall. We need to fill them in about the current situation."
Mikey and Raph nodded and began to clear the plates as Leo stalked off to the hall. Mikey quickly pulled Raph out of the kitchen when he noticed Sil and Donnie still in proximity to each other.
"Uhm... sorry about earlier. " Donnie took the chance to apologize. Sil, still wearing her blush, nodded, "N-no problem. You just got excited."
Donnie chuckled weakly. "Yeah. I tend to do that a lot. I am a man of science and lately mystics. Finding out new information like this is what I live for. Knowledge of humans and yokai can only be soo much. New discoveries and breakthroughs are what I live for."
Sil smiled softly, "It's alright. I understand. It's quite baffling, to be honest." Both of them laughed a little giddily.
"So, you're wrist doing any better?" Donnie nodded toward Sil's hands. "I see you made use of my little gift." Sil rolled her eyes and his slightly smug tone, "Ah yes. From the Smooth Operator no less. Thanks for the ointment too. My ego was too big to admit I was hurt."
Donnie grinned proudly when she noticed him using the nickname she gave him. "I hope they feel better today. Though I still cannot remove the cuffs."
Sil glanced at her wrist and rubbed the cuffs, "My wrists do feel better. As for the cuffs, it's fine. If I were in your shoes I'd do that to you too."
Donnie clicked his tongue. "Also, I am thankful for the cuffs," she added, peaking the genius' interest. "How so?"
"They did protect my wrist when Leo grabbed them earlier."
The purple genius winced, "Yeah, sorry about Leo. He means well. He's a little overprotective after some recent events." Sil watched silently as Donnie has a distant look in his eye. Whatever happened to them must have been very traumatizing that Leo would act in such a way.
"You don't have to explain. Leo is a dedicated leader. A little brash but I know he means well. You don't need to explain right now."
Donnie smiled sadly. "Anywho, let's get going. They'll be waiting for us."
Sil nodded and began to walk out of the kitchen. "My name is Donatello. Just so you know, though you probably already knew. The genius behind every tech in my humble home."
He smiled victoriously when he heard Sil's laughter. "Yeah, of the Hamato family, right? Your brother mentioned. Nice to meet you, Hamato Donatello and the tech are amazing."
Donnie felt his heart beat loudly when Sil spoke his full name. "Thank you, dear Sil. You may call  me Donnie."
"I will. Donnie."
The purple turtle wore a dopey smile. Sil waited patiently for him to guide her to the hall. At least in all this trouble, she had an amazing purple turtle to keep her company.
Mr and Mrs Hamato
Chapter 3 - Smooth Operator's Misdirection
Previous All Stories
The wafting smell of horrified and stinking sewage penetrated the girl's nose as the turtles brought her down the 'bring enemies in sewer system'.
Hmpf- She tripped yet again. The 'purple dude' kept bumping into her back because his blue bandana brother thought it fun to tease for the whole walk. Donatello muttered a bored sounding sorry to the girl. "Sowwy..." Leo cackled teasingly from beside Donnie and decided it would be fun to run into him again. Donnie yelled and stumbled over his footing then crashed into the girl's back again, causing her to fall to the ground "Woah - OW!".  Behind her, the twins were pulling at the tails of each other's masks. Raph smacked his forehead. "You guys, knock it off."
"He started it!" The twins pointed toward each other. "Stop repeating everything I say!" and they continued their childish escapade. Raph and Mikey watched with deadpan faces, the latter a little sorry for their poor treatment of their female captive.
"Shouldn't we break them up?"
"I will Mikey. You go handle her," the oldest Hamato patted Mikey on the shoulders apologetically.
While Raph tackled the twins Mikey paused in slight fear when he found the girl. You see, two things happened during the fight. Number one, she fell. Number two, her blindfold (their only blindfold for evil people) fell into the dirty waters of the sewer. The she-thief has been watching the idiots ramble before her.
Great, I'm kidnapped by a bunch of bumbling baboons. She thought to herself. The only thing worth while that she managed to capture was the nick names of the turtle yokais. The one in red is  Raph, the one in blue or the leader is Leo, 'purple dude's' Donnie, and the orange is...
"Uhm, hey there, I'm Mikey" He introduced himself nervously and to drawed the thief's eyes so they settled on him. A loud bang and crash, followed by hushed baby-like voices caused the orang turtle to cringe but he continued his introduction.
"Soo, uh, you see my brothers, though I love them a lot can be real idiots sometimes. And I see that Leo and Donnie have tripped you twice, and now you have fallen on the ground which must really hurt, and uh-"  he felt the sweat drip down his face. The thief gave this 'Mikey' a glare full of annoyance which got her message across. Meanwhile, the ruckus behind them made Mikey's eye twitch.
"Hahaha... so clearly that must have hurt and, kay what I mean to say is we don't treat villains this rough and make them trip and fall. Well, sometimes we do but not to girl villains! N-not that we treat them any differently just, girls can take a hit. I'm sure you're strong. Just I want to apologize for this rough treatment". Mikey watched as the girl's glare soften though she was still highly tense.
Ok, the other three are bumbling baboons but not this guy.
"Plus, you may be a thief but I don't think you're as bad as they come..." The orange turtle watched the tension slowly move away from her shoulders, so he took the moment to slowly crouch down, "Are you alright?" he gestured to her fallen position. The girl nodded. Mikey smiled gently and cautiously moved his hands towards her, "Imma help you up. That good?" The thief let out a small smirk at the welcoming turtle and shrugged, but the three idiots behind them ruined Mikey's delicate operation.
"EATETH THY WORDS LEO!"
Mikey's clenched his teeth so hard the girl thought they would crack then and there. "Excuse me, but I really need to handle my bros. Just ah, try not to cringe or anything. It's not you, it's them..." Confused, she nodded and watched the orange guy suck in a deep breath and turned to red, blue, and purple, "BEHAVE YOURSELVES, IN FRONT OF THE GUEST!"
The boys cartoonishly scrambled the walls of the sewer before clinging on to each other. After a moment of silence, "Why, thank you!" Mikey clasped his hands and smiled sweetly. Turning to the thief, he notices her surprised eyes. Mikey chuckled nervously, "Ehehe, sorry you had to see that. Anyways, lets get you up". Mikey yanked on her bonded hands to help her stand. "Thanks, Mikey" Freezing, the Mikey grinned wildly, "OH MI GOSH! You spoke, and you're welcome"
Leo gasped, marching up to shove his face into the Mike's personal space "Bro, what are you doing? We need to keep our superhero mysteriousness on. Villains like are are exactly the kind of people we should not be sharing our name with" ,making her growl. Mikey shoved him off, "Leo, she's fine. She doesn't look that bad. I see this thief part of her like a cover, where her true self is a one full of puppy and rainbows and is just hidden from an untrusting world,"
Since Mikey was the best people person, Leo had half a mind to trust him. However his ego pushed him to push buttons. "Right, but either way this thief will talk during interrogation. Got it?" he said smugly, pushing a finger to her collarbone.
What's his deal?
Instead of replying, she just growled. "Fine, be that way.  We will make you talk later short-stack". As Leo walked past her, the thief stuck out her foot and Leo toppled over. A sweet chuckle bounced of the wall, "Oh, sowwy" the girl teased Leo, who looked back up at her with raw shock. Donnie watched with sparkling eyes, "Cute, mean and sarcastic" he whispered to no one.
"Well, can we please get going, 'purple guy'? This stench is going to get to my clothes." Donnie snapped out of it and marched almost proudly to her side. Raph just shook his head with an amused smile, "Leo, come on. Stop sleepin' on the job"
---
Back at the lair the boys hurried her to their skating rink, fishyly trying to avoid a certain someone she was unaware off. Mikey offered her a chair to sit and the interrogation began. Four, not so menacing silouette's loomed around her.
"Let's begin!" Leo shouted dramatically. Raphael nodded and marched right up to the thief's face "First, off. Sorry I gotta do this. Second, no hard feelings,"
Then, "Alright, punk! Spit out the facts! Who are you and why did you steal a space rock from the museum of natural history!".
Mikey whooped behind Raph saying something about Raph using his batman voice. The nameless girl started back blankly and slowly averted her eyes. "Hey! I'm right here! Where is the rock, girly?"
The thief tilted her head towards Raphael, "You should know, I have been trained to resist interogation. Your efforts are useless. And if I may and take no offense Mr.Red, shouldn't the leader be doing the interrogation?"
Leo took offense of that, "Hey, I am a leader in training. My big brother is teaching me his ways. Although I will take that challenge and interrogate you myself, so better talk before I nick you with my swords"
The blue turtle unsheated a blade dramatically and held it to her neck while the others watched in awe. "Now, hand me over the artifact you stole and we will let you go".
"Or what, baby blue? Gonna cry?" Donnie, Mikey and Raph hissed as Leo got burned. "Haha real funny. The answer is or I will be forced to hurt you,"
"Really? You guys just don't seem like it."
"What make's you say that?"
"The fact that your brother Mikey was so kind to me earlier. And the fact that none of you decided to drug me and carry me to your lair. Especially after the blindfold came off. Real good work as captors, wow" she smirked victoriously and relaxed into the chair, winking at a red snouted Leo. Donnie let out a 'zing' cheer, clearly taken by the level of sass she commanded. When their eyes suddenly met, both blushed and looked away.
"Damn," he muttered. Leo eyed his brothers when an idea popped up in his mind. "Stay here,"
The brother's were huddled into a group. "Kay, we need a new approach to get her to speak, any ideas?"
"I know! We can bake her interrogation pizza. Everyone says yes to pizza,"
The other three groaned. As they continued exchanging ideas, Donnie took a glance at their nameless captive. Ideas brewed in his mind, until a cunning idea crept into his mind. The thief was calculative as those intelligent eyes suggested. Appearing calm on the outside but remaining on high alert for any surprises. A pouch laid upon the gear she wore. Placed in front on the chest. Easy for access and available to her watchful eyes at all times. Clearly it was important and they should have confiscated the pouch to begin with. The meteorite is in there. They locked eyes briefly causing Donnie to quickly avert his as an idea came to mind.
 He also felt a little dumb not realising it earlier. After explaining the plan, the boys nodded in agreement. "You sure you can do it without going all kissey face on her?" Donnie blushed and smacked Leo's head. "I have my bad boy image up. Plus, if I can overcome that disgusting feeling now, I can totally go back to my normal broody self,"
The thief perked up when the four approached. This time she noticed the Leo, Mikey and Raph leaving. She eyed the door they left through, throwing her senses out to make sure this wasn't some coy plan to play her. Her senses don't lie, the other three left Donnie and herself to confined solitude. It was just them...alone.
youtube
Stepping out of the shadows, the angles on his face made even sharper when illuminated by a single source of light made her pulse quicken. Donnie felt a rhythmic buzzing pick up on his wristband. His plan was on. The man in purple first surprised her by stopping right in front of her seat and watched her with a shit eating grin.
The girl squared her shoulders, ready to face anything thrown in her way. Bending down to her face, Donnie watched with fascination as the rush of blood began to pool at the flesh below her eyes. She wanted to look away because with the silence, Donnie brought intimidation to the next level. Being as stubborn and hardheaded she dared him and looked back right into his eyes.
On the outside he played bad cop all the way through but boy, did Donnie tense in a good way when her intense eyes locked into his. The fact that he could reap such reaction from her made him feel powerful. More so since his tech sensed the elevated her sudden elevated heart rate. The pupils of her eyes dilating when she found his being drove him up the walls. She sat there all cute with a glare so mean. Though, the little thief didn't need to know how she was affecting him in return, so he played the smooth operator.
Yup, definitely my type, he scolded his beating heart.
"Well played.." the turtle cooded, "...your attention on me is flattering, but you should be really focusing elsewhere.." Donnie hissed. She felt his light breahts fanning her face. He smelt of aromatic coffee. "Never tear your eyes away from your opponent. Has anyone thought you that?" she bit back.
This caused Donnie to chuckle, sending his chest bouncing which if the girl was honest was a hot and distracting sight to see. "Yes. Yes I did learn that. However, one needs to also learn the art of misdirection."
"Misdirection?"
Donnie repeated with mischief in his eyes, "Misdirection," then he lifted his left hand to show the pouch that he had snatched of her being. Hey eyes widened, "Give that back!" she yanked her body forwards pulling the chair forwards and nearly toppling over. Only, she never met the floor. Donnie's hand planted right next to her head and rested on the chair seat as he brought in the interrogation.
"Ah, what do we have here? I wonder if this pouch contains your stolen item,"
She remained silent, not trusting her voice to speak but she held his gaze. Donnie hummed in approval, "Well, I heard it you stole a meteorite and this in particular has collected rare space minerals, hardly found on Earth but definitely contains some powerful stuff,"
"How do you know that?" She blinked up at him. "If it wasn't clear enough, I am not just brawn as also brains, darling. So let's go over it again," he quickly ignored the sudden nickname he called her, "Is the stolen meteorite in here?"
When Donatello's voice dropped an octave lower she visibly shivered. That same shiver travelled into Donnie like a tidalwave and she noticed this interesting fact. "There isn't," she tried and Donnie clicked his tongue in reply. "Too bad. You wouldn't mind if I destroyed this then, right?"
On demand a robotic claw extended from his shell and the tip transformed into a flamethrower. He watched as her face reflected fear. She yelled for him to stop and he did. The thief let her head hang as she released harsh breath, "Fine, the meteorite is in there."
Donnie smirked at her and laughed airily and pushed the chair back to its original position but remained distractingly close to her person. "Just, don't break it or do anything with it." she pleaded.
"Why not? You stole it. The right thing to do is to return it. What does a thief like you want it anyway? For table decor?" he sassily asked, popping out one hip and crossed his arms. She internally swooned watching his muscles bunch.
The thief shook her head, "The materials in that meteorite is essential to the study of my employer."
"And what does this employer study, dare I indulge?"
The thief went silent for a moment, "My employer studies...your kind,"
Donnie quirked a brow, "What, what do you mean my kind?". Words still processing, until it hit him.
And I mean, hit him literally.
Donnie felt a strong tug on his belt that sent him flying towards the thief. Everything happened so fast. She pulled him close held his right shoulder in vice grip with one hand and her other hand snacthed her dear pouch while purple was still in shock. Donnie's heart thumped wildly against his chest he swore she could hear. She managed to outwit him in own game. Managing to get out of her bonds while he interrogated her. He was impressed as he was scared. "If your wondering how, I have very flexible wrists. Years of stealing and getting into handcuffs and binds will teach you that." she explained when she could practically see the gears turning in his genius brain.
A wicked grin etched on her lips with the wisps of her curly hair tickling his skin made him squirm. He blushed furiously. "Earth to Donatello..."she dared whisper in his ear.
"Wait what?" Donnie crashed back to reality, finding that the captive had managed to escape her binds of her hands. He gasped and quickly searched for his tech-bo but found it missing. His answer soon provided by the very weapon being aimed right under in chin, stolen right under his nose by non-other than the slick criminal in front of him. With her distracting eyes, tight fitting gear and not to mention the coconut aroma drifting from her hair, and her palm on his shoulder. Strong yet delicate, squeezed him just hard enough on his shoulder to bring him back from the world of dreaming.
"I took your lesson. Misdirection right, Donatello?" she repeated his name in a playful pur, knowing she had gained the upper hand. Donnie's hand went to reach for his ninja stars but felt restraint on both his arms. "When did you manage to do this?" he wiggled his arms but the tie was too strong. He scolded himself for creating titanium threaded ropes to be used as binds.
They are extremely strong cause when tested on Raph, the big guy could not break it.
"Damn you little-"
"Tut, tut, tut" She giggled and secured the pouch over herself. Donnie watched as she twirled his tech-bo expertly then used the sharper end to poke him and push him backwards. Donnie held his ground testing her. "Don't make me fight you." she threatened switching to a darker tone,  "My only job is to send this to my employer or he might just have my hide. I don't hurt you or your brothers. Test my hand and I will be forced to so."
"You lie"
"Believe your wristband though. Since it somehow is able to scan my pulse." she nodded to the wristband on his arm and Donnie flushed. "Let me walk away, now" she asked again.
Donnie's brows furrowed with frustration, "I cannot let you do that." With his hands binded, he couldn't fight back much but discretely tapped the panic button on his wristband. The nameless thief used the sharp end to push Donatello into the abandoned chair.
She fished out a rope of her own from her pouch. Donnie managed a peek. "Beautiful, right. The meteorite reflects and refracts surrounding light, giving it ethereal beauty. When she turned to face Donnie his heart nearly fail and so did hers. They were stuck in a hold when each found the others eyes reflecting the light from the meteorite. The dark abys of Donnie's eyes looked the star filled night sky while her's looked like the galaxy swam in it. Familiar feelings of comfort began to settle within themselves, so inviting and warm and natural. Not realising the fact that her body grew closer to his, she heard his whisper, "You're so... beautiful"
Red covered her cheeks and she drew back. Donnie blinked furiously, too stunned to say anything. The thief shook her head, zipped the pouch to the meteor's light would not distract them and proceeded to tie Donnie to the chair. She paused in front of his seat, watching him one last time. She closed her distance and placed the tech-bo on his lap. The she thief looked at Donatello once again, blush rising ever so slightly. "I'll see you someday I guess. Goodbye, smooth operator."
Donnie was stunned but not defeated. While the thief thought she was home free, she turned around only to be met by a katana blade held to her throat. "Hope your not thinking of leaving so soon?"
Leo smirked as he saw the wince on her face. The swinging of nunchucks with the sudden roar of Raph's mystic sai's activating told her she was cornered. Her eyes darted around watching the three like a hawk. Then she played a smirk of her own and snapped her fingers.
When nothing happened she grew a little worried. She snapped again but felt no rush of her mystic energy. Leo laughed victoriously, using his other blade to lightly knock the forgotten mystic cuffs around her hands. Finally she heard footsteps approach her from the back. She spun with force and prepared to punch the attacker but Donnie dodged her attack, grabbed her wrist and twisted it onto her back. She was faced once again with Leo's swords.
"The meteor is in the pouch?" Leo asked his twin and the latter nodded. "Good, we will return it now."
"No," "NO!" Donnie and the thied protested at the same time, the turtle being the calmer. "She mentioned the meteorite containing rare materials from space that her employer is using in the study of yokai and mutants. I need to study it and see if there are any other artifacts like these and what they could possibly be used for."
Raph grew a little tense, "Did she mention who her employer is?". Donnie shook his head.
"Could you tell us, please?" Mikey asked quietly. The thief looked at the only turtle she felt very comfortable with at the moment and denied his request. "My job requires me to be discrete. My employer's identity is a need to know basis and you do NOT need to know,"
Leo sheated his swords and approached. If its one thing that he had great distaste for are people that could possible threaten the life of yokais and mutants. Draxum used to be one off them, mutating humans then came the Krang that wanted to infect and reform humans to the image of Krang. Whoever this employer of her was, he hated every bit of it. "Then we will keep you here until you decide to speak,"
"Come on, hermanos. We're done. Donnie, you can keep the meteor."
"What do we do with her?" Raph asked. "We lock her in the medbay and keep her there until she decides to speak. I will obviously drop by to annoy her daily," the red-earred-slider slipped back into his cheerful and playful side.
"What about Dad?" Mikey added.
Leo grimaced, "Uhm.... you can handle him?". Mikey gave Leo an annoyed look but he agreed anyways.
"Alright. That settles it. We rest tonight and inform the fam tomorrow." Raph wrapped up the session and marched back to his room, Leo walking ahead to join him. Mikey turned to the girl, feeling a little bad about her situation, but hey, she is still a thief. "Sorry it had to be this way,"
The girl gave him one of his rare smiles, "No worries. Plus I think with you around, I'll be fine. I have a feeling you wouldn't let twinkle toes blue boy to bully me as much,"
Mikey chuckled then wished her goodnight.
Donnie and herself left to their lonesome. The genius huffed and pushed her forward with the hand behind her back, making the shorter girl hiss in sudden pain. Donnie eyed her wrist in confusion and loosened his grip there, which made her less tense.
At the medbay, purple set up a simple bed for her. He look the pouch off her body and told her to remove and weapons she had. She complied and dumped it all on the floor. Donnie kept looking at her expectantly. "What? You want me to remove my gear to? It's the only clothing I have on me" She growled and Donnie raised his hands in surrender, muttering an audible sorry and quickly looked away.
She sat on the bed with a huff. Donnie shuffled around the room with her hawk like eyes on his back. On the table beside her, he placed a bottle of water and a green button. "If you need anything press the button. One of us will come and see you. Bathroom is at the right of this room." Then he handed her a pack of toiletries for her use.
She nodded quietly thinking that was the end but Donnie asked her one more question. "Your wrist is fine?"
The girl cocked an eyebrow, catching her wrists in reflex "Yeah it's fine,"
"Your rubbing it. Wrist not that flexible or something?" Donnie pressed.
"I said I am fine." Donnie sighed and decided to leave her alone. Her pulse was erratic due to stress and anger.
"Alright. Call if you need anything. And also, " he took her hand gently, unexpected by her, and pressed into her palm a soft roll of material and a small bottle. "...keep that."
Then he bid her goodnight and left the medbay, locking the room behind him.
She stared after the turtle through the glass doors. Once he disappeared she opened her palms to find a roll of bandage and a bottle of shooting balm. On a piece of paper she read, "Better wrap those wrists" ~ Mr.Hamato.
The girl felt warmth rise to her cheeks. Damn that smooth operator's misdirection.
Timestamp - New York City's Apocalyptic Future
- 3 years after Cassandra Jones', and 4 years after Raphael's death-
Dianne stood in the showers. She relished what little water ran through the underground pipe systems, which somehow managed to survive nearly a decade of war and famine. It has been almost 21 days since her last shower. Now the grime was no longer caked on her skin, not to say that it wasn't squeaky clean but manageable and a blessing altogether.
The fight today was relatively tame. Dianne and her team were deployed to the barren streets of NYC to scavenge for any medical supplies to bring back to the Krang Rebellion Underground Base (KRUB). Thank to whatever celestial that existed aside from the brain aliens, the scavenging team returned safely.
Now, Dianne lazily leaned on the bathroom wall and allowed the trickle of water to distract her from any thoughts.
A light thrumming sound echoed into the steaming bathroom. Dianne was pulled from the thoughts, "Shel?"
Within seconds a gleeful robotic voice replied, "It's Dad! He's back!". Finally releasing the breath she held in, Dianne sighed with relief and thanked Sheldon for announcing her dear husband's return. Some rustling could be heard from outside the shower, a little chatter between father and son. No doubt both were more than delighted to see each other again after her husband's 14day absence. Away on a mission, as usual.
Dianne just smiled at the little domestic interaction. Her heart finally calmed when soft but sturdy footsteps entered the bathroom, and the person closed the door behind them. Locking the two lovers in blissful peace.
Dianne laughed gently as Donatello's hands enveloped her steaming body in a tight hug. Her hand came over to cover his own and she turned her head to lean more into his plastron. Hamato Donatello's smile grew ever sweeter and he buried his face into the crook of his wife's neck. " 'M happy to be home," he said then continued to hold his wife ever closer, running his worn hands over her damp skin and silently thanking her for surviving her scavenging mission. Dianne tilted her head so that her forehead met with his, " Thank you for coming back home safely, Mr.Hamato.". Donatello grinned into her shoulder and then planted a kiss on her forehead.
Yes, the warm shower was wonderful on the softshell's turtle's skin. Being cold-blooded and all, he never denied warmth. However, add the warmth provided by his loving wife; now, why would he ever be such a dumb dumb and say no to that?
"For you, everything, Mrs. Hamato."
---
After the warm bath, Donatello and Dianne snuggled together on their bed. Both husband and wife hummed in contentment as they basked in each other's presence. Maternal instincts took over as Dianne noticed the absence of her AI-brought-to-life-son. "Where's Sheldon?"
"With April, Mikey, and Nardo'. He wanted to meet Casey Jr as soon as we got back from missions,"
Dianne smiled thoughtfully. Sheldon and Casey acknowledged each other as cousins. Casey obviously takes Leonardo as his foster dad after Cassandra died a warrior's death. The red-eared slider had no qualms about this, as he was definitely taken by the young Casey Jr as well. Sheldon on the other hand was brought to life, literally. Donatello being the tech whiz he is did what was considered impossible.
After getting his hands on some Krang tech, mainly, growing metal, he built a cyborg body for Sheldon and brought his brainchild to life. Since Sheldon is made of growing metal, he could age and grow like a normal person. Feel and love and live like a human being. Donatello also aged making him just right so that the two young boys were of the same age. Both at the tender age of 11, the youngest of the Hamato clan.
Donatello raised a brow, looking to his wife who decided to turn in his arms. Her beautiful face met his and immediately she grazed Donatello's cheek with her thumb. "That's good. The boys should experience a good life." Her husband chuckled weakly, "If you consider living in the sewers during a worldwide Krang Apocalypse normal, sure."
Dianne couldn't help but shake her head in amusement. Donatello never lost his sarcasm. "Come on, you know what I mean, love," she mused. Donatello gave one of his half-second unamused looks, razzing his wife. "Gasp, I don't know, dear. Shall my loving wife enlighten me with her dazzling knowledge?"
"Donnie..."
"Shall my dearest bestow upon me not just the elegance and beauty but her innate smarts as well?" Donnie pulled Dianne closer by the waist, flustering Dianne immensely. His legs intertwined with hers trapping her body to himself. He wasn't a touchy-feely person when they first met as teens, but after getting together, and lords have mercy, after their marriage, Donnie could not seem to get his hands off her. Neither could she get her hands off him.
Dianne giggled, putting her hands on his plastron and finally bursting into laughter as Donnie began to tickle her sides, "Gah,Dee sto- stop-"
"Come on, love. Just tell me.." Donnie said and peppered tiny kisses all over his lover's face and neck. "D-Don, you k-know what I mean-" Dianne squealed with joy and made Donnie's chest rumble with his own laughter.
The happy couple settled after a while, but their smiles were still bright on their faces. Donnie brought Dianne's hand's to his lips, "I love you, so much," he kissed her knuckles, "I love you with all my heart, Hamato Dianne", the placed one kiss in each of her palms. Dianne melted into her husband, reaching out one hand so that her slender fingers could gently graze his jawline. She finally held to the side of his face and brought Donnie down for a sweet kiss.
Longing and passion could be felt as Donnie melted into her touch, letting his soul be once again drawn into her being. For it is her that Donnie would drown his sorrows in, as he lets Dianne drown her sorrows in him. As long as both of them had each other, come Krang or not, Donnie and Dianne would always be there for each other.
"I love you too, Hamato Donatello,"
Prologue 2: Casualties: Mr and Mrs Hamato
Timestamp - Day of Reckoning, 6 years after Raphael's death
The blaring alarm ripped through the KRUB. Leonardo burst into the security room, Miker hot on his heels. Donatello was frantically looking over the security feedback "Don, talk to me buddy. What's going on?"
Donnie banged his console angrily, "Get everyone out of here, now!" Just as he said that Donnie slammed the all-panic button, sending out the emergency evacuation wave throughout the base. The tech whiz turned around only to find his two brother's still looking at him, "Are you guys insane? I said get out of here!."
"Don, answer the question," Mikey begged. Donnie watched his youngest brother with sad eyes, "Angelo, we have been discovered."
Leo shook his head in confusion and then begged Donnie to explain in detail but the softshell walked out of the security room hastily and headed for his lab, both his brothers followed suit. As Donnie secured his battle shell and fighting gear on as he told Leo the weight of the issue, "One of the three main Krang, the Sister has found our base and is currently ripping through the tertiary and secondary security vaults. The system is not holding, she's too powerful!"
"We can fight our way through Don-"
"NO, LEONARDO WE CANNOT"
youtube
The two brothers flinched at the genius' outburst, knowing full well that this tone of voice meant only one thing, they were doomed. After all, the only other times he used this voice was when Cassandra and Raph met their timely ends.
Thankfully, Splinter and Draxum had long passed on to the ancestral plane well before the apocalypse hit its peak. They at least died happy and kind deaths.
At his brother's silence, Donnie tried to reassure them the best he could, "Look, let's just gear up and get everyone out of this base, kay? I've contacted the nearest base for medical, evacuation, and artillery backup. They're on their way as we speak."
Mikey and Leo nodded in understanding and began to gear up as well. Taking whatever tech Donnie passed on to them.
As the three left the lab, Donnie asked Mikey to use his mystic powers to aid the evacuation by creating multiple portal corridors. "I won't let you down, Dee. If any Krangg gets in my way I'll bring out Dr. Delicate Touch,"
"You do that little brother." Donnie was about to turn away when Mikey suddenly engulfed him in a hug. Out of all the 'stay-safe' hugs, this one oddly felt the saddest, neither Donnie nor Mikey understood why. As the youngest Hamato brother disappeared into action, Donnie continued his march to the security room.
"Alright, what now?"
"Nardo, you do your uh, leader thing. Yes! You will 'leader' every one of this base and continue to 'leader' them until you bust Krang butt and save the planet from Krangification!"
Leo stared estranged at his strange brother, "What are you talking about? And what are you doing here? We need to fight our way out"
Donnie sighed tiredly but he kept his eyes glued to his monitors. He eyed every movement the Krang Sister made and counter-attacked her with the in-built security system that he could only automate from the security room.
"Nardo, I will say this once and I will never repeat it again. The Krang Sister is tearing through all the security levels and the systems are failing. I have automated security backups that I can unfortunately only automate from this room. I cannot leave and join the fight because my fight is here, buying you time. Buying you enough time, so that you can get your dum dum self, saving the dum dum people, and bringing them to dum dum safe-ville, away from the dum dum Krang."
"And before you point out that it's automated, Nardo, keep in mind that the systems are intact failing and so has the automation. But I refuse to call it manual work just because some oversized wrinkled up brain chewing gum she beast alien decided to destroy all my tech!"
Leo miraculously got all of that, amidst the blaring alarms and screaming people. "R-right," Leo nodded to himself and ran out of the room, only to run back in with worry on his face, "What about you?!"
"Leo- what? WHAT'S WITH THE INTERROGATION? EVERYTHING IS FINE, I SAID!"
"Damn it Donnie, what about you? You can be left here alone with no defense!"
"I have my battle shell and my mystic tech bo, Leo!" Donnie growled growing ever more frustrated. Try fighting an oversized brain alien on a small console while talking to your sibling.
"Don! I'm commanding you to leave your station and evacuate like everyone else!" Leo yanked Donnie's shoulder so that they would face each other.
Donnie was about to shout back and retaliate but when he saw Leo's eyes, he understood. Leo was tearing up and crying. His jaw clamped tight and his fingers grasped onto Donnie. Leo was worrying.
Leo was crying.
As the red alarm lights failed, Donnie gently clasped Leo's shaky hands, "Brother, I will be right behind you. I will-"
"That's a lie. Don, I know when you're lying,"
True enough, Donnie knew from the start of this attack, this would be his last mission on Earth. No one else could man the security system. No one else than his wife and son but he wasn't going to drag his family into this mess. This sacrifice was going to be made so that everyone can get out.
The determination in Donnie's eyes and the finality of his last spoken words told Leo, there was no turning back. "I am, Leo. I can't leave this station. It's the only way I can buy all of you the time needed to escape."
Leo almost collapsed on his knees, but Donnie held him up and brought Leo into a hug. "Anata wa hitori ja nai," .
Leo gasped and clutched onto Donnie, crying into his shirt. The softshell held the slider close, then pushed him away. His twin. This would be the last time he would ever see his twin.
"I love you, Nardo'. Take care of Dianne and Sheldon for me. Stay strong, brother."
---
Over at the other side of the base, Mikey was sustaining multiple portals. April made sure that every department in the rebellion made quick work to leave and abandoned the base. Finally, she saw Leo running through the crowd, "Commander, where's Dianne?"
"Dianne went to evacuate the children, the injured, and the sickly."
Leo nodded and began to make his way to the medbay. "Dianne!"
Screaming children and worried medical practitioners were all he could hear and see. If Dianne weren't there, he swore Donnie would haunt his soul forever. "LEO! Over here!". Sheldon and Casey Jr were by her side.
The Slider dashed over when he spotted her "Help me move this beam up! There are children and patients in there." As soon as the beam lifted, the rest of the medical crew brought the last of the people out of the medbay.
"Master Leonardo, what's going on?" Casey asked. Dianne watched Leo with worry as she held the two young boys close. Leo urged them to walk and explain on the way. "Wait, we need to leave home?" Sheldon cried out with sadness. Leo crouched down to his nephew and gave him an encouraging squeeze on the shoulder, "Hey, home is where the heart is, alright. As long you have your family with you and in your heart, you will always have a home."
Then he brought his son into the hug as well, having both the boys in his tight but comforting grasp, "Anata wa hitori ja nai." What words would bring comfort to the boys, brought a panning hurt to Dianne's heart, she knew of what was to come. "Now take care of each other and go find Aunty April. She will lead you to the evac, alright."
The boys nodded, then turned to Dianne. "Stay safe, aunty. Come back in one piece, please? Bring Uncle Donnie with you." Dianne smiled and hugged Casey, "I will."
She then took her only son and brought him to a hug. Sheldon immediately buried himself in her warmth, "Don't leave me, mom. I need you. Please don't go...I want dad" Dianne felt her heartstrings pull but she maintained her strong persona. "I will be right behind you, baby. I will always be with you."
"Now, I am going to get your father and make sure he is alright. We'll meet each other soon, alright baby."
She kissed Sheldon on the forehead and then urged both boys to leave immediately.
What was left was the deafening silence. The alarms had finally given out about thirty seconds ago, save for the eerie three-minute self-destruct countdown. Without needing him to say it, Dianne already knew about Donnie's decision to stay behind. I was apparent. The self-destruct had not been fully automated yet and every bit had to be manually controlled.
"I think this is goodbye..."
Leo downright refused to look into Dianne's eyes. He was already crying his heart out. Dianne took matters into her own hands and wrapped Leo in a final hug. "Take care of the boys. Take care of April and Mikey and yourself. Be strong and don't give up."
Leo finally gave in and hugged his best friend. Dianne sobbed quietly, "I will miss you bestie." Leo whispered. Dianne chuckled weakly and let the slider go. Just as she turned a corner, she decided to leave Leo with one important piece of knowledge, "Donnie loves you very much, and he is very proud of the person you have become."
Then Leo watched as his best friend leave for the last time ever.
---
"DONNIE!"
"Dianne?" Bile rose up in Donnie's throat. "You're not supposed to be here."
"I know, but here I am. Now tell me what to do,"
"Dianne, go!"
"DONNIE! I am not leaving you here. You know this console needs to be manned by two people. And, we both know that we would never let Sheldon handle this much technical pressure. Not yet, and definitely not now."
Donnie grumbled, he knew she was right. They discussed this before. Like any parents, they would sacrifice their lives if it meant securing a chance for a better future for their children.
Donnie nodded and told Dianne which key sequence to initiate. The self-destruct was finally brought down to the remaining 30 seconds. On the security monitors, the last of the portals Mikey made had just closed. All areas of the Krang Rebellion Underground Base had been successfully evacuated. The Krang Sister just made it to the main facility only to find the place abandoned. She screamed and trashed at everything. If they were going down, that alien will burn and die with them.
20 seconds left to countdown.
Donnie and Dianne sunk to the floor, holding each other in an eternal embrace. "...take care. We love you." Donnie pressed the button of his wrist gadget and sent their last message to their family.
10 seconds left to countdown.
"Don, I love you," Dianne looked up at him with tired eyes. "I love you, so much."
Donatello held his wife's face in his hands, planting one final kiss on her lips and holding her tight. "I love you too, forever, Dianne."
---
From the evacuation ship, everyone watched the KRUB die in a powerful explosion. Silence enveloped the ship and silent tears were shed at the knowledge of the two great sacrifices that day. Two more members of the Hamato clan finally being able to join their ancestors.
Sheldon picked up a message originating from the KRUB just 30 seconds before the base blew up. The Hamato clan played it and all heard the final message from Mr. and Mrs. Hamato. The final smiles, to be seen.
" Our dear family," Hamato Dianne started, "... continue fighting and living. Continue hoping and loving."
Hamato Donatello came in, "To my brothers, Leo, Mikey, continue being strong, I'm very proud to have led by your sides. To our best friend, April, keep up the O'Neil spirit, Commander."
"To Leo, hope is a ninja's best weapon. Mikey, continue being the best mystic arts user ever." Hamato Dianne spoke with determination.
"To our nephew, don't give up hope. Learn to survive." the couple said together.
"And finally to our son," Hamato Donatello and Hamato Dianne had tears in their eyes, "We are proud of you son. Never let this day drag you down," the mother spoke. "Survive and be strong. You are my pride and joy, Sheldon." said the father.
"Always remember, anata wa hitori janai. Take care. We love you,"
