Here's my final #tifa shot from @conography 💖🌟 Moving forward, there's still some alterations I'd like to make on this cosplay, particularly the wig (I'm thinking about removing some wefts - it's way too heavy and gives me a headache!) and the gloves (I'd love to somehow alter some actual MMA gloves). Aside from finishing touches, though, I'd basically consider this cosplay complete, and I'm ready to start planning for #MTAC2019 ☪ I have two main ideas, and I just can't decide which one I want to tackle! Here's the first of my #tifalockhart spam! (^^) I ADORE cosplaying Tifa. Aside from the joy I get from cosplaying one of my all-time favorite characters, wearing Tifa makes me feel strong, cute, and sexy. I meticulously chose every piece of her outfit with perfect care, styled the wig (with some help) crafted her armor, altered her gloves, suspenders, and sleeves, and practiced lots of new makeup techniques. This was the first big cosplay that I really spent some time on perfecting to the best of my abilities. I've received almost nothing but praise (thank you guys! 💖), but this cosplay also caused me to deal with my first round of hate. People called my cosplay mediocre, and they basically assumed that I only cosplayed this character so that I could push my breasts up and look sexy/appeal to fanservice. At the same time, people also managed to somehow shame me for both being too fat, and too skinny, at the same time. Oddly enough, the body shaming didn't bother me too much, because I am comfortable in my body. But the remarks that my work was mediocre, when I am a practicing/learning crafter, seamstress, and cosplayer... Well, that stung a little. But then, I remembered how Tifa would act if some stranger hurt her feelings. She'd probably feel bad for them and assume that something bad in their life has made them bitter. Then she'd forgive them, stand up tall and proud, and continue her work. She wouldn't care about comments directed towards her body. She's heard those types of comments for years, I'm sure, and has become respected for her abilities, despite her dress and appearance. So I'm going to continue to do my best, improve my work, stay healthy (in both mind, and body, to the best of my abilities), and I'm going to be like Tifa. The joy I get from seeing MY WORK come to life... The fun I have with my friends... The confidence I feel when I transform from "me" into a totally different person...
