Yesterday, I was like enough is enough. I set out to get back into my more productive routine and set about organising my week. I use SkedPal to schedule my week. I’ve found that it makes it a bit easier for me because it automatically schedules things according to what I’ve specified are potentially good times and around events from my Google Calendar. Essentially, I don’t have to sit around manually deciding where every single task goes.
I made notes on Newton’s Law of Motions. The concepts are easy to understand from the textbook I’m using, which is the OpenStax College Physics.
I also have to find time to fit in some Chem study for the GAMSAT as well...
Happy studying!

The thing that is stressing me out about studying for the GAMSAT is that I understand what the type of thinking they require from me. I understand that they don’t want me to rote learn formulas and numbers and regurgitate it. They want me to demonstrate the ability to think critically under pressure. The problem is I don’t know how to emulate that style of thinking. I don’t know where to start in order to develop that thinking.
On top of that, I just feel overwhelmed with everything else that I have to do. I don’t know how to fit it all in. 24 hours doesn’t seem enough.
On a more positive note, I managed to sneak in a quick run on the treadmill. I’ve been feeling sluggish not doing exercise.
Happy studying!

I am in the process of decluttering my room. Yesterday, I just sorted through the top of my wardrobe and there is a lot of junk up there. This includes bags that I’ve kept for 10+ years that no longer suit my style, pure cringe-worthy stuff.
I’ve decided to throw out my old school books each year. One year of schooling will be thrown out each year. It’s been heaps long since I’ve been a year 8 and I don’t know why I’m holding on to my maths exercise books. When will I ever take out my maths exercise book and reminisce about that time I learnt about negative numbers or whatever? I’m just going to keep the work that I’m really proud of like awards, certificates and projects.
In regards to what I’m studying, I’ve done one physics question.

I did one physics question on velocity and time. I’ve been doing questions on velocity and time for a while. Moving slowly... but still moving.
I cleaned my room and I’ve realised that I have so much stuff. Why do I have so much stuff? I’m slowly clearing the stuff out but I have to find somewhere else for it all to go.
Happy studying!

Today, I formatted my physics study schedule so I can monitor how I’m progressing with my study. I’m ahead of my schedule 😎.
However, I have to be careful that I don’t spend too much time playing around with the formatting on my schedule. (I’ve spent a lot of time recently discovering the magic of Microsoft Excel.)
Happy studying.

Saturday and Sunday was really busy. I managed to complete one physics question today. I need to think about how to use my time better after work. I just come home really tired and it is seriously hard sometimes to find the energy and focus to do anything.

I anticipated that I would get more done on my presentation for my day job but then the day turned out to be busy. Reverse psychology when you think it isn’t going to be busy, it turns out to be. Just do your best. I’ll have to finish it tomorrow.
Happy studying!

Here are my poor brushes, I don’t look after them very well.
I have moved on to the next chapter and am now doing 2D kinematics. Yay!
It took a lot of energy today to get things done. It’s a terribly dark and gloomy day, which isn’t particularly inspiring. It just made me want to curl up in bed and sleep.
However, I’m a bit surprised with myself since attempting to do a bit of physics study everyday. It doesn’t actually take that long. The biggest struggle that I had previously was forcing myself to do the textbook questions and I’ve slowly worked myself up. This time, I set out to do one question and each day I keep doing one more question. Today, I did four questions. Hey, it’s the little things that count. Making notes actually isn’t that bad because I’m familiar with a few of the concepts presented right now but it’s doing the questions that actually let me know if I understand or not.
Happy studying!

This is a screenshot of my excel file that I use to keep track of my physics study.
I discovered the power of formulas and conditional formatting and I am going to say that I am in love with the powers of Microsoft Excel. It is a beautiful piece of software.
I find it motivating that I can see how many questions I have done and what I have to study and where I am with my study. At first I found that I was zooming through the chapter so I bumped up the amount of work to get done in a day from one subheading to two subheadings.
I’ve found that it is very useful to keep track of what I’m doing then I can actually see the progress instead of keeping it all in my head.
Happy studying!

I did another physics question today. I’ve been doing the questions in a rather lazy manner and haven’t been reviewing how or why I got the answers that I did. The problem is the textbook I’m using doesn’t provide all the answers in the solutions so I’ve finally decided to sign up to Chegg. I need to put out some time to review my answers.

Today, I did one physics question in my head mentally. Was it the most effective way to study? Probably not but I’m saying good on me for looking at physics every day.
Saturdays are usually a very busy day for me because I tutor most of it and then I’m knackered by the end of the day. I need to find a way to plan physics study for the times when I am busy or when something unexpected happens so that my study is still effective.
Anyways... happy studying!

I did some physics questions on 2D kinematics this morning. It’s amazing what I can do if I organise and prioritise.
I intended to get some revision for Chapter 2 Kinematics. After tutoring though, I ended up talking to my sister and then my mum and then it got too late. But sometimes your priorities have got to shift, if missing out on one bit of study so you can make the people you love laugh then yeah... sorry physics, I need some balance in my life.
Happy studying!

I had work today and I was left with the decision to read or do physics questions before heading off for work. I ended up doing physics questions because I rationalised that it is easier to read a book at work than do physics questions. It was a good thing that I listened to this rational thought because we were busy today. I still managed to sneak in a few pages of reading though, but concentrating on physics questions would have been close to impossible.
In order to get things done, you just have to prioritise and determine where is the best situation to do a task. Not all tasks are equal and sometimes you can’t hope for the best but you can plan to do whatever is your best today.
Happy studying.

I almost didn’t do physics today, but I pulled through. I made it.
I feel tired all of the time and yesterday was the worst. Being tired means that I spend a lot more time deciding to do things. I end up doing a whole internal monologue about why I should be doing something. It’s very draining making myself do anything at all and therefore it makes it easier to just give up.
I’ve decided to tackle this tiredness, to take back my energy. The first step that I’ve set for myself is to get more sun.
Happy studying (but also remember happy self-caring)!

A change of imagery, some flowers instead of my “lovely” physics notes.
I had a personal epiphany a few days ago and that is...
My actions are my responsibility.
I know right? Mind blowing 🙃.
I need to think this thought more often instead of coming up with excuses like...
It’s because of procrastination.
I’m not motivated.
I need this [insert unnecessary equipment].
It’s not the right time of the day
etc.
Isn’t it great that your mind can come up with both your problems and solutions?
Happy studying!
