Savant Lore: Gracefallers

While the Savants fought evil spirits, the masterminds controlling these spirits are known as Gracefallers. Once Savants themselves, they are born from a sense of uselessness. When a Savant gives up on the talent that granted them magical power, that power usually fights back in a sense, and consumes the Gracefaller.

Keep in mind, retiring from Savant duties and becoming a Gracefaller are two different things. Retirement still leaves some room for hope in using ones talents for more mundane purposes. Gracefallers have abandoned their talents entirely.
