Read Scott Pilgrim recently and like. Why did Bryan Lee O'Malley give Scott a social circle consisting almost entirely of women and gay men? Like, Scott is supposed to be a straight dude but he has literally two straight dude friends and one of them later turns out to be gay. It's not even like this is some accident of how the supporting cast happened to shake out either, Scott explicitly says that all his friends in high school were girls. This is a deliberate characterization choice and like... why?

Wallace sat at the bar of, A New Place, a club that wasn't actually all that new. In fact it had a few flyers around adverting it's 7th anniversary party happening next week. He had been just flirting with a tall, handsome man, only to have him not be interested and (not so polity) rejected him.

He was here for two things. To get drunk, and to find someone to go home with. If the later didn't work out, he still had his alcohol. He set some cash on the table and slid it towards the bar tender. "This should be enough for the last few drinks I've had" he told them with an nod, "but don't worry, I'll be back. I wanna go show off my dance moves." He smiled and gave the bar a little slap before getting up

Then, he made his way to the dance floor.

juniper held herself back from rolling her eyes at the denial that immediately spewed from her ex’s mouth. “listen, it’s only for one day. can you just help me out one last time? it’s not going to kill you.” juniper begged the other, trying her absolute best to not speak to them with a negative tone, already pissed off. she was absolutely convinced they were blowing this whole thing out of proportion. yes, their break up was on bad terms. and yes, she had been incredibly mean to them afterwards. but, her family loved them so much. her connection to her ex somehow made her relatives respect her, ask her more questions, notice her, and she wasn’t going to just let that go because they broke up.

Wallace   is   surprised   by   her   words.   Or   the   fact   she   is   not   with   any   of   the   other   ladies.   House   Royce   of   the   Gates   has   a   grand   tournament   ahead   of   them   and   those   were   always   meant   for   trouble   and   it   seems   he   had   tangled   himself   into   one   as   well,   the   moment   the   young   woman   appears   before   him.   They   had   danced   all   night,   a   stroll   or   two,   and   he   certainly   feels   something.   But   Wallace   thinks   he   is   a   gentleman,   by   the   Gods,   he   wants   to   believe   that,   but   her   tone   tells   him   that   this   is   something   she   needs,   not �� just   a   whim   of   the   moment.   "Your   father   would   have   my   head   if   he   found   out   you   are   here."   And   he   does   not   wish   to   ruin   her.  

Yet,   he   walks   close   to   where   she   stands   and   press   his   hand   to   her   chin,   thumb   tracing   the   lines   of   her   lips,   they   always   felt   so   enticing,   and   in   the   promise   of   intimacy,   almost   irresistible.   "There   are   many   things   that   we   can   do   without   you   losing   your   honor,   if   you   still   want   me   to,   I   can   show   you."   Wallace   offers   instead.   If   she   wants   him   in   full,   then   he   will   lose   his   head   for   a   good   cause   but   he   is   giving   her   options   in   the   moment,   allowing   her   to   choose   what   they   could   do   in   that   moment.

  His   hand   moves   lower,   to   trace   the   line   of   her   neck.   "Because   I   want   to   show   you.   And   I   promise,   you   will   feel   something,   and   forget   plenty,   at   least   for   a   moment."   And   green   eyes   look   back   at   those   deep   eyes   of   hers,   and   he   knows   she   desires   exactly   that.   What   exactly,   he   is   not   sure,   but   he   is   willing   to   give   it   to   her.   He   is   a   knight   after   all,   is   he   not?   He   is   there   to   serve.
