Not sure if I should slide in with this between all these very serious and nuanced discussions, but your hc on Alpha's "snapping" activated my angst brain. It seriously sounds like something that would cause people to be wary about sending omegas into battle alongside alphas they are close to (mated or otherwise). But the lions are mostly nobles who can't afford to sit out fights (especially Dimitri as king) and do need to work together closely on the field. So I thought about (1/?)

Felix getting critically injured in battle. And Sylvain, who always tries to protect him, who you noted as basically thinking of Felix as his mate already on an instinctual level, just loses it completely thinking he is dead. He goes on something of a rampage while still holding onto Felix’s unconscious body, and it takes the combined efforts of Dimitri and Ingrid to calm him down enough so they can take Felix to the healers. This would obviously be fucking terrifying to Dimitri and Ingrid (2/3)

because they’d be scared of either having to cut down Sylvain or being too late to save Felix (or, in the worst case, both). Sylvain would also feel immense guilt for both failing to protect him in the first place, and then almost have him die because of his own instincts. I am curious about how they would deal with such a situation going forward. Sorry, this is super self-indulgent again.. Please ignore if it feels too out of place right now. (3/3)

No I absolutely fucking love this. Someone mentioned this on another post but it might make perfect sense for Faerghus to train their Omegas to fight. Mostly because they cant afford to have a third of the population not fight. And if they train them to fight then they can handle themselves.

I imagine that Dimitri has to physically hold Sylvain down and Ingrid has to pry Felix from his arms so they can get him to a healer, and the entire time Sylvain is snarling and trying to shake Dimitri off/get Felix back and they’re both just screaming “Sylvain he’s still alive! He’s still alive and you’re not helping!” 

And I imagine feral Alphas are extremely strong and difficult to contain so it’s a minor miracle that Dimitri can hold him (even with his super strength). Thankfully something probably gets through his head (probably a combination of their words and the fact that Felix’s scent is still alive and faint).

Honestly I think Sylvain would beg everyone not to tell Felix just how crazy he went. Partly because he’s ashamed, and partly because he doesn’t want Felix to know how much he really cares about him (since Felix is delicate when it comes to his relationships and pushing him could push him away). But he still sits by his bedside until he wakes up. And after that he’s determined to protect Felix (which ties very nicely into their A supports)
