okay i vaguely remember a while ago your comments about lee minho's acting? so i was curious if there are any korean actors/actresses you think are particularly good or their drama choices tend to be good? i have trouble watching things because so many of them seem hmmm

frankly, i think the standard of acting post boys over flowers (most dramas after 2010) has just gone down dramatically. i still watch korean dramas now but it’s more for the story (before the ending Always gets diced) than the acting when it really used to be about both. a lot of the actors are replaceable and they’re all the same flavor of acting, just shuffled from role to role. my mothers an avid watcher (why i’ve watched so many) and her complaint is that no ones charismatic anymore ..they don’t hold their own.

my fave korean actor of all time is lee young-ae, she’s known in the west for park chan wooks lady vengeance but she became a household name for the dramas she was in since the 1990s. her most popular drama is dae jang geum but she has more than that. she’s from what i call the older generation of actors. youn yuh-jung is among that generation even older but she used to play the mom/aunt on so many dramas when i was growing up…i feel like she only won in minari bcuz that’s the only thing the west has seen her in
