Coworker offered me money to teach her how to paint. MONEY MY ASS WE WILL GO TO THE PARK ILL BRING YOU TEA AND YOU WILL LEARN NOT TO FEAR ENJOYING YOURSELF THROUGH ART AND CREATION I DONT WANT MONEY I WANT YOU TO CREATE AND BE HAPPY. I will go and not only teach her how to paint with watercolours but to enjoy doing things even if you think they're ugly while you are learning. Art is not for anyone else but for you. It is a means to an end and you put your soul in it not for it to be criticised by what you think others Think is ugly. It is for you to have a swell time and look back on and remember how you felt. It is for you at 4am to cry into and feel lighter after. It is not supposed to be pretty by master standards if you're just starting and it makes you feel better. And if you wanna pursue a more knowledgeable path you will be able to do so WITHOUT SHAME.
#to learn art is to stop being ashamed of your hands and your eye first. and FOREMOST.#i will forever say this because i think it. do not be afraid of starting because someone else has 'more talent' that is a lie.#if you want a means for your feelings and font plan on being criticised in a gallery and have a career in it. do not shame yourself#into quitting or even not starting#art is in everything and in the eye of the beholder and you never have to be afraid of making ugly things.#my sketchbooks are FULL OF ugly shit and wasted pages#thats the point#misc#beginners don't need to be put down. just teach them the basics and give lots of encouragement. nourish the soul with what you do#im so opinionated about this but its something i feel so strongly because i deeply hate making things solely for the consumption of#the public and marking everything pretty or just not making it at all#it is trial and error and whats an error is up to you because you can learn so many damn things!!!! there is so much to teach yourself
