Coworker offered me money to teach her how to paint. MONEY MY ASS WE WILL GO TO THE PARK ILL BRING YOU TEA AND YOU WILL LEARN NOT TO FEAR ENJOYING YOURSELF THROUGH ART AND CREATION I DONT WANT MONEY I WANT YOU TO CREATE AND BE HAPPY. I will go and not only teach her how to paint with watercolours but to enjoy doing things even if you think they're ugly while you are learning. Art is not for anyone else but for you. It is a means to an end and you put your soul in it not for it to be criticised by what you think others Think is ugly. It is for you to have a swell time and look back on and remember how you felt. It is for you at 4am to cry into and feel lighter after. It is not supposed to be pretty by master standards if you're just starting and it makes you feel better. And if you wanna pursue a more knowledgeable path you will be able to do so WITHOUT SHAME.

#to learn art is to stop being ashamed of your hands and your eye first. and FOREMOST.#i will forever say this because i think it. do not be afraid of starting because someone else has 'more talent' that is a lie.#if you want a means for your feelings and font plan on being criticised in a gallery and have a career in it. do not shame yourself #into quitting or even not starting #art is in everything and in the eye of the beholder and you never have to be afraid of making ugly things.#my sketchbooks are FULL OF ugly shit and wasted pages #thats the point #misc #beginners don't need to be put down. just teach them the basics and give lots of encouragement. nourish the soul with what you do #im so opinionated about this but its something i feel so strongly because i deeply hate making things solely for the consumption of #the public and marking everything pretty or just not making it at all #it is trial and error and whats an error is up to you because you can learn so many damn things!!!! there is so much to teach yourself

oh my god i forgot to post my absolute favorite strip from gay comix (issue #2, 1981)

#this collection is full of so many hilarious vignettes #between the fictional and biographical they range from hilarious to saddening but theyre all candid looks at #lgbt life in the 60s 70s and 80s #id recommend it if you're interested in older underground work #edit: for ppl who notice the opening blurb i will say this:#1. Many artists in the underground comix scene (yes the lgbt ones too) delighted in being overly provocative for the sake of it #hence the cringeworthy 'political unity is not the goal' line #2. i worried abt this too when i started going thru the issues but there are quite a few strips and comics focusing on the trans experience #that said. there are unfortunately not a lot of transgender artists involved in this collection #3. given the preceding two points i think its fair to say that a good chunk of the strips in gay comix just. Suck #but like they actually said it's important that we're capable of recognizing that a full 40 years down the line #so we can actually learn something from the life experiences the mistakes and even the lack of perspective tht sm of these artists displayed #nocturnal writings

something i did when i saw a post of joku talking about this topic: it's an interesting concept but practically impossible because nothing stops artists from continuing to create (this is convenient for ink), based on this i tried to adjust the words of the creator of dreamtale herself to her characters under an objective truth— there is no limit to the multiverse

That's Right #lackadaisy #WHICH i have been reading since at least '07 when i was thirteen my god b/c this animation is based on the ongoing webcomic #like does its influence show up Directly in some Discrete way i can point to in my art? not very easily probably.
