Do you have opinions about soil microbes? Mycorhizae delight and confound me

I know very little about microbio (I'm just realizing every model organism I've worked with in a serious capacity has been an animal lol), but I once helped a microbio prof set up some sequencing assays for bacterial diversity in the soil. It blows my fucking mind that there are completely novel strains of bacteria living, dying, evolving, and going extinct literally fucking constantly, in every tiny little patch of dirt you've ever seen or thought of. It's wild as fuck. Mycorhizae fascinate me because of the mild endosymbiosis aspect is has sometimes, when different complex, multicellular organisms start intruding on the cells of another organism.

the honey fungus is over 2000 years old!! its also the biggest and oldest fungus known so far!!

the reason we have forests is because of mycorhiza (i think thats how u spell it!) fungus!!! they serve as extensions to roots to help gather nutrients!!!

oyster mushrooms are a vegan food for humans but are cannibals! they eat themselves!

trees use mycelium to talk to other trees and warn them of danger so they know where to grow!!

its said that our ancestors ate psychedelic mushrooms and their drug trip is why we're like how we are today!!!

there are mushrooms that can control ants and insects and make them into zombies so they can infect the rest of the nest and die so the fungus can eat them!!!
