A beautiful sunny day but cold (I had to scrape ice off the car this morning). We caught the sunset down at a very busy St Ouen’s beach this evening. I guess with all the shops and cafes closed the beach is the only place to go! La première cascade, la plus accessible (quelques minutes à pieds) s’appelle VAIMAHUTA (80 m de chute d’eau). Les deux autres (20 à 30 minutes de marche) sont HAAMAREMARE RAHI (100 m) et ITI (40m). Lors de fortes pluies, l’eau dévale les pentes pour former des rivières qui tombent en cascades successives. La montagne composée essentiellement de roche basaltique s’est peu à peu érodée, puis effondrée par endroit sous l’action pour former une barrière rocheuse en forme de fer à cheval. Happy New Year! It certainly hasn’t been the year we all expected and we’re not out of the woods yet in terms of the pandemic but there is light on the horizon with the vaccine being rolled out and I’m hoping that means *maybe* we get to travel a bit more next year. For now I’m not making any plans, I’m just going to continue to enjoy what the island has to offer and practice gratitude for being here in this beautiful place.
