Haven't finished brainstorming for everyone, but I do have some theme songs lined up for relevant characters.

In no particular order..

These might change in the future as I'm drafting section 1. Also keep in mind, theme songs are planned to change to better reflect the character for a particular section and/or part.

Anyway, I'm gonna disappear for a few to get the last skins done as well as the last of the brainstorming done. So I will be back.. Whenever I finish all of that and finally get to the drawing stage.

using a side blog because i have shame /silly

hi aphblr, i recently got back into watching the old rps after half a decade as my own high school journey is coming to an end in less than a week. got inspired by the rewrite ideas i saw and wanted to see if there was interest in a little self-indulgent rewrite/reimagining of phoenix drop high (and maybe even mystreet later on) swimming in my head :3c

i actually don't know what medium i'll be using to share this if i ever do execute this alongside the fact I've only finished rewatching diaries s1 and started pdh s1 erm

anyway!!!

phoenix drop high and o'khasis prep are neighboring premier college prep high schools in the same school district in a well-off part of the city. both schools have interacted with each other for events and refer to each other as friends, but both faculty and students have unspoken beef w/ each other nonetheless (this rivalry could be an important plot point later)

who's to stop a few students from finding thrill in crossing the lines of peer scrutiny and dating someone from the other school?

phoenix drop in particular has (metaphorical) rebirth as one of its core values and aims to have its students become the best versions of themselves by the time they leave. no character will be leaving unchanged

everyone will be lumped in together as either juniors or seniors from the beginning

just a happy silly vibe with some serious moments ala fruits basket season 1

there will be some implied romance between characters, but i don't see anyone becoming endgame aside from the casual relationship here and there. i so want to focus more on the slice of life aspect, friendships and the cast going through the stress of acads, extracurriculars + etc. together as graduation looms over faster than they expect

very unsure about how to handle aarmau, hence why i just wanted to not give any ships a concrete conclusion and let the actual romance happen and go with the flow if i somehow get around to conceptualizing mystreet down the line

school fair to raise funds arc! intramurals arc! prom and graduation ball!! junior senior turnover or whatever

LAUR LAUR!!! my pookie my baby my husbanndddddd!!! SINCE you didnt specify the series, im just going to cover my thoughts on both because while theyre similar, i still wanna talk about em okay

MCD Laurence

i HEART mcd laurence with a burning passion. obviously he is the superior laurence. i just want to put him into a box and protect him because he doesnt deserve the CHARACTER SLANDER that he goes thru in mcd.

laurence is kind, funny, brave and i LOVE a good cassanova trope its always fun (when done correctly). i seriously wish that laurence wasnt in the hands of jesson because they did him so dirty in mcd like thats MY BOY..... he deserved a better character arc than what he got

MYST. Laurence

my opinion on ms laurence is a little bit different simply because jesson decided it would be a good idea to make laurence a creepy stalker obsessed with aphmau to the point of where i had to pause the series multiple times and go "why has aphmau not gotten a restraining order?"

in pdh laurence was good for about 4 episodes and then the weird obsession with a person youve barely met started and continued until your TWENTIES. YOUR. TWENTIES. absolutely insane

MMMBBUUTTT why i still love him is because simply put, it's not his fault. im not going to sit here and say that i know the character better than the writers do but in this case i do because mcd laurence would NEVER and if (supposedly) mystreet is supposed to be like a modern au/reimagining of "what could've been" with the mcd cast then laurence should be WAY MORE similar to mcd laurence besides sharing a name, face, and voice

because laurence in mcd literally was like "yo if this genuinely makes you uncomfortable i will stop" and while pdh/ms laurence does that, his actions of continuously trying to punk aphmau into dating him says otherwise

i could yap for hours, days, even YEARS about the mistreatment of laurence (and some of the other guys) but thats NOOOOT what this is about!!

Part 2/11

Next up is Garroth and Laurence.

First, Garroth.

Since he takes a back seat in season 2, there isn't much to him compared to characters like Aphmau and Aaron. So, really all I have to showcase are his sophomore skins.

Overall: I didn't change much. His eyes are still blue, his hair is still blond, his skin is still white. If the time ever comes for a machinima production, I'd probably make his hair a smidge darker. But these skins serve their purpose for visualisation well enough for now.

Casual: Aside from changing his varsity jacket into a school varsity jacket with the school's initial on the back and the obligatory colour changes, I didn't see a need to change his casual outfit much.

Uniform: Unfom is unifom. v gud. glad we got that out of the way.

Dinner: Aside from changing his pants to black for more contrast and puckering his shirt where it's tucked into his pants, I didn't change this one much.

Prom: Aaron's suit bat blu. v gud. glad we got that out of the way.

Laurence. Again, not much changed. I don't think I even need to list what I changed. His hair is still brown, his eyes are still weezer blue (/hj /ref), and his skin's still tan. Albeit, his skin colour is lighter than I intended. I'll probably tweak it if need be. But it's a skin purely for the help of visualisation.

The casual outfit is still the same save for minor tweaks, his uniform is a uniform. I'm ranting at nobody. I'm throwing this at a brick wall purely because I want to document this.

Part 6/11

I.. I don't think I need to say it. It speaks for itself.

Vylad. Also planned to be a more prevalent character.

And, say it with me now; Not much changed.

Save for the piercings I gave him in his sophomore outfits (there's two, casual and uniform), I really didn't do much. He already had a pretty solid catalog of outfits.

Part 5/11

Travis.

Misc: Outside of his hair not being greasy anymore, his sophomore base skin is much the same as what his freshman base is. One of the miscellaneous things in the story I plan to add is Travis struggling with his hygiene in part 1 of section 1. (More on the section thing later.)

Formal: I changed his waistcoat to a tail coat. That's it aside from the obligatory colour changes. I might make everything for is formal pallet darker when I draw all of this out.

Sophomore casual: Like the majority of S1's main cast, Travis takes a back seat in S2. I think, if memory serves, he's delegated to comedy scenes in both S1 and S2 after he serves his role as the "teacher of how to act in high school" for Aph in the early episodes of S1. That's besides the point, though. Since I plan to make him a more prevalent character in part 2 of section 1, I made him a sophomore casual outfit. Which is really simple, honestly. Just a black jacket over a forest green shirt, worn jeans, and the same shoes as his freshman casual.

You guessed it; Obligatory colour changes. ...And some weathered jeans. :3

First, the skins which I will break up into multiple posts due to the 30 image limit.

Part 1/11

First batch is Aphmau.

Starting with her Freshman skins that I've finished.

Ro'Meave Dinner: Pretty much the same save for some stockings (pantyhose) and some colour changes. Nothing too crazy like the pdh uniform overhaul.

Bake Sale: I changed up the entire maid outfit, plus made it slightly.. less provocative maybe? considering the inspiration and everything. The inspiration being the Shizuku-tan costume from My Dress Up Darling.

Prom Night: Save for the dress shape, shoe, and rose colour change, nothing much was changed.

Pajamas: Again, nothing much aside from colour changes and a sock being rolled down. Though it's attributed as a freshman skin, it's likely I'll tweak it a bit if I am able to make the pipe dream of a machinima production a reality at some point in the future.

Next, her Sophomore skins.

Casual: I took some inspiration from y2k fashion I found on google. Instead of.. Idk what she was wearing in the source material- instead of that, I gave her a tank top layered underneath a shirt, some jean shorts layered over a pair of black leggings, and some purple sneakers rather than her ratty red runners in her freshman year skins.

Pajamas: Save for her night shirt being baggier, the overlay details, and colour changes, not much was changed. Again, I might tweak this and every other skin that might need it if I'm able to do a machinima production of my reimagining.

Activewear: Nothing much changed again aside from her tanktop being changed into a shirt and some colour changed.

As for her sophomore uniform, it's functionally the same as her freshman uniform. The only thing different is her hair and shoes. Therefore it's kinda useless to show it here and list off what I've already said in this paragraph.

Next batch, Aaron.

First order of business is his senior outfits.

Overall: Aside from making his hair tinted red, I kept everything mostly the same. Sticking to the hair guide I drafted up a while back.

Uniform: The first instance I've shown where the uniform differs slightly. When I made the uniform templates, I made three main variants for both 4px and 3px skins. The one Aphmau, Travis, and Zane sport is the tidy variant, whereas the one Aaron's sporting is the sleeves-rolled up variant. Well, one of the variants with the sleeves rolled up. The variants I made at the time were the one Aaron's wearing, the tidy variant, and the "untidy" variant, which 2 of the characters currently finished wear.

Casual: Again, I didn't change much from the source material on this one, just a few colour changes.

Prom: And once again, nothing much changed. The suit I made myself, but the rose and colour choices (namely red-tinted-black) were kept the same.

Next, his freshman university skins.

Casual: Exactly the same as his senior year casual, however, I ripped his jeans, frayed the rips slightly, added a bit more weathering, fixed his shirt, and rolled his sleeves down one pixel.

Uniform: The same aside from his were wolf ears and tail.

I'm back. Anyone miss me? I hope not, then I'd feel bad for dropping off the face of the planet for 6 months.

In any case, new year, new things. I got back on the grind and finished a few things. Over all, I have 36 finished skins. Most of which being Aphmau, shock fuckin' horror.

As for the sets of skins I've finished, I have finished; The rest of Aphmau's high school looks +her graduation gown The rest of Travis' high school looks +his graduation gown Zane's graduation gown (he did not get as many looks in pdh as I thought he did) And Kawaii~Chan's entire (high school) wardrobe

Words cannot describe how much trouble that little bun/bow combo in the back gave me. I wasn't tearing my hair out, but I got pretty damn close.

I digress. I am tired. Eepy, even. So I will post one last thing on here after this before I go get some rest.

Zane Freshman Year skins; "Zane's freshman year casual outfit; It stayed the same. Accept for the hair, but that'll be explained at a later date once I've finished his sophomore skin batch." "Zane's uniform; Once again, it stayed pretty much the same, his source material skins were pretty solid in terms of design and sense. Emo wears emo clothes, 'nuff said."

it’s good that you’re recognizing which characters are whitewashed and fixing it :)

I mean.. yeah? I don’t see why someone would make a big fuss over keeping the lighter skin tones.

To me it looks wrong to have them that white anyway.

Idk whether that’s nostalgia speaking or my character designer brain going apeshit, either way their skin tones are getting fixed. For my own peace of mind if nothing else.

Aside from skin tones, I might tweak other colour choices when I draw them. For now, I might just take a break from skins and designs and try to get the creative juices flowing so I can brainstorm and flesh everything out.

On the topic of whitewashing, I feel like it's important to note I've made skins for 26 characters so far. Most of which have more than one outfit in PDH alone.

On top of that, because I'm not used to applying myself this much to a single project, I've been more drained recently. I also haven't been showing any of these skins to people outside of Tumblr that know Mystreet and its characters. If at all.

Though it's not an excuse, it's definitely an explanation as to why so many characters ended up with lighter skin than intended. I am just one person doing all of this.

Aren't I glad this website isn't the cesspool others are. Had I chosen another website to showcase the skins I've made, I think my head would be on a pike by now.

Ah, yeah, I see that now that I look at a it and a ref side by side. I’ll get around to fixing that when I draw them.

For now, I just want to focus on finishing the skins that’re still pending.

I might double check every character’s skin tone to make sure there aren’t more I’ve done this to when I get to that drawing stage, now that I think about it.

But, again, rest assured, I’ll make sure his skin tone isn’t so light when I get around to it. ^^

Mostly! I just realised Michi's neck is still whitewashed. But that's an easy fix.

Anyway! I'll get around to the teachers, parents, OCs, and misc characters tomorrow. I'm gonna get some sleep for now.

I can't thank the person who took the time out of their day to list all of these characters. I did not realise how many I whitewashed.

I think I had a mini-heart attack when I realised how white I made Lucinda.

I digress. I'm gonna quickly fix Michi's neck, and then I'll be off to bed.

skins are very cute but was not expecting to see a white michi and a white vylad lol

pfft, yeah. I'm fixing their's and others skin tones right now. I knew I accidentally whitewashed Gene and Laurence, but I didn't realise I'd whitewashed others until the last ask pointed them out.

Multiple skin redesigns seem very much whitewashed for some reason

Namely; Laurance, Zenix, Gene, VYLAD!! (He is VERY whitewashed), Lucinda and Michi(also VERY whitewashed),

It could be an honest mistake, I just wanted to point it out

Don't worry! I plan to make their skins darker, their skin colours ended up much lighter than I expected them to look.

I think I was much more concerned with the contrast and making sure things didn't blend together where they weren't supposed to. These skins are mainly for visualisation and I plan to draw their designs out in a bit more detail once I've got everyone done, so that'll probably be where you'll see their skin tones fixed.
