Guys I will defend NAMOR until death do me part. Yes he killed the queen of wakanda. He fucking drowned her and probably a lot of other fictional people too. But am I the only one reading into the theme that imperialism pits marginalized groups of people against each other. and by doing that it can cause drastic affects in marginalized communities that might make us lose sight of the systems in place that’s function is to harm us. And by succumbing to vengeance we only cause more damage to ourselves.
I would even personally understand if Shuri killed Namor but just imagine the effect It would’ve had on his people. If shuri had killed Namor I would still think the best option is for the people of Atlantis to forgive her and understand what she was going through. but honestly how could you ask that of them 2 when all they see is someone who killed their Protector just like namor did to shuri killing her mom. If they don’t want perpetual war at some point somebody is gonna have to forgive somebody else and it’s better if it’d be earlier than later so less damage is caused.
It’s either forgiveness or damnation on both empires and never actually dealing with any of the problems that got them they’re just worsening them.
Neither of them are the center of the problem at the end of the day in the story. The problem is Those who want to cause Instability with vibranium. The battle between their armies is just causing both fictional empires unnecessary harm. They Need to stop their war and if they really want to reduce these kinds of tragedy. They need to focus their strength on those who threaten their empire/communities and who oppress people across the marvel Cinematic universe. if they want to reduce harm they need to kiss and make up. They need to fight together and not against each other anymore.
That’s a strong fucking message about how we all need to stop falling for scapegoats. And how we all need to become more critical of our justice system for Blinding us by seeking vengeance instead of healing The wounds it has caused. how we need to become more critical of just actively causing our communities more harm instead of trying to actually reduce the harm. By radically changing systems that keep people oppressed. and that’s how I’m choosing to connect to the story the protagonist, antagonist, and team that worked on Wakanda forever presented us.

This took me SO LONG to write but here it finally is. Look, friends, I found another rarepair to sink my teeth into! When M’Baku looked like he was about to nut the moment he saw Namor’s powerful body in action, I felt that. A lot.
Fandom/Series: Marvel/MCU/Black Panther:Wakanda Forever Characters: M’Baku, MCU!Namor, minor appearances by MCU!Namora and Ayo Pairing: Nam’Baku (Namor/M’Baku) Rating: M Length: 6,447 words Summary: Negotiations between Talokan and Wakanda have been going well, until they are interrupted by an assassination attempt on King M’Baku. Namor takes the hit and almost dies from it. In the aftermath, the two rules not only have to puzzle out the growing attraction between them, but also try to prevent further attacks... Warnings: Namor whump, Hurt/Comfort, some violence and traumatic nightmares
“Why?” M’Baku asks, with the frankness that Namor so appreciates in him. Despite his exhaustion, Namor considers his answer before he speaks. Because another dead Wakandan monarch would help nobody, least of all us, might be true, but isn’t the whole truth. As is ‘Because you deserve a better end than at the hands of one cowardly assassin’.
“Instinct,” he finally says. It is the truth, or as close to it as he can manage. If he has to be completely honest, he hadn’t really been thinking at all, everything had happened far too fast.
“Instinct to protect a surface dweller?” M’Baku’s lips are twitching, belying the mock-serious tone of his question.
“Instinct to protect a fellow king.” Namor knows they are alone, that nobody is listening. That and his current rattled state are the only reason why he lets himself continue the sentence. “And a decent man.”
“Oh?” M’Baku’s eyebrows rise, and he gives a hearty laugh. “’A decent man’,” he repeats. “Is that how you refer to everyone you’ve had carnal relations with?”
Namor frowns, his fingers tightening, despite the pain that the movement sends through his arm.

I don’t really write, and like I have only seen the movie once, and idk characterization, but @chimerathewriter ‘s reply on my post had me excited and I thought I would try and write a tiny little snippet, so here it is
The meetings were necessary for their alliance, an alliance that remained tentative at best still. The rage and pain felt by the Wakandan’s had begun to be soothed away. It was a process though, and the tension with the Talocan’s remained high.
M'Baku met the meetings, like he did everything else, with a sense of disagreement with everything and everyone. His snark was met with a patience he was not used to and he found himself not liking it at all. He felt like he was being indulged as if he was not worth the other’s reactions. Okoye liked to point out to him that he should probably not antagonize the other king.
He leaned back on his chair and took a deep breath. His sternum ached, and he knew there was nothing wrong, but the phantom feeling haunted him during these meetings. Namor’s punch could have easily caused him a major injury.
The sound of water splashing broke him out of his thoughts, and he straightened himself, the guards behind him tensed up. The council had not been happy with the choice to have a designated meeting place by the water. It would make M'Baku an easy target, but he knew that for this alliance to work, they needed to provide a show of trust.
Namor walked out of the water, “ǹdeèwo!” he called out, startling M'Baku .
“Excuse me?” M'Baku blurted out and for the first time since their meetings started, M'Baku watched Namor falter in his step. Hesitation flashed across Namor’s face, eyebrows furrowing, “is that not hello?” even the question was tinted in hesitation and M'Baku was completely baffled by it. He was baffled by this whole interaction.
“Your accent is terrible,” was the first thing that spilled out of M’Baku’s mouth, and to his surprise, Namor’s face seem to blank out to the non-expressive look of their previous meetings, “but I will fix that. You will be fluent in Igbo in no time,” M'Baku decided to add, without meaning to. Namor’s expressionless face faded away and corner of his mouth twitched up into what was almost a smile. M'Baku felt another pang in his chest.
M'Baku did not tell Namor that ǹdeèwo was a casual greeting, more for people who had a fond relationship, which was definitely not them. Okoye was going to have a field day when she finds out.
-
I used https://nkowaokwu.com/search?word=hello&page=0 to find the translation for hello, chose ndeewo because it said it is casually used to show appreciation? which Namor and M’baku are not there yet since this is like their idk third meeting, so i thought it be more startling for the lack of formality

Nam’baku makes a lot of sense because if m’baku becomes king of wakanda namor is gonna have to go through him now and two boyfriends raging war on racism in the mcu is iconic. Do you also see the vision?
