Why The Gang Became Robbers
CW: Discussions of Poverty and Money
So, it’s somewhat theorized that the gang started stealing because of financial reasons. There’s actually some allusions to this in the movie itself, with them planning to stop stealing after the heist they were eventually caught for, them seeming to live in the shop, Johnny’s clothes seeming to be hand-me-downs (his dad’s jacket, a shirt that’s a few sizes too big with worn out sleeves, well worn-too large jeans), and mostly using walkie talkies instead of their phones (data is expensive). I started to wonder how deep in debt they actually were sooo... I did some calculations.
--------------------------
Disclaimer: All of these were based of the average costs of everything in the state of California (Calatonia is based on LA and San Francisco). There were some generosity here in debt calculations including giving them a good credit score when they applied for the loan and assuming they had only been in the states 7 years. Oh and that they had a bit money when they came to the US.
----------------------------------------------------
Debts
The Garage Itself
Building Price: $2,250,00
Down Payment (20%): $450,000
30-Year Fixed Loan Plan with Interest of 5.395%
Credit Score (I’m trying to help them out here): 729
Annual Property Tax: $28,125
Annual Home Insurance: $7,875
Monthly Payment: $13,102
Annual Total Building Payments: $193,224
Plus Other Expenses (calculated from average 2 person household costs)
Food, Water, Electricity: $24,475.8
Health Insurance: $0
Car Insurance: $0
----------------------------------------------------
Now, the total mortgage would be around 4.62708 million when calculating in 7 years of interest rates. And if we look at the average yearly income of a mechanic in California...
Tumblr media
Yeah, Marcus is only taking home around $16,958 dollars per year, and that’s being generous with both rates and overtime. So, without even factoring in the debt, as well as assuming that Stan and Barry are not included in their household income, the Taylor family is almost $2,000 dollars below the Californian poverty line.
Now, let’s take a look at their plan here. We know that the gold shipment they were planning on stealing in Sing 1 was around 25 million dollars worth. Well, that would clearly pay off their entire mortgage, as well as probably help Stan and Barry with whatever financial issues they might be facing. It would also give them a good cushion for a few years going forward, preventing them from going into debt easily again.
With the seven years of payments totaling $599,844, and assuming that they have stolen at least $2.163,677 to pay towards the debt before, in Sing 1, they only owe a much more reasonable $1,863,559.
And while that is still a lot, if a rich person, say an old musical theatre star, wanted to guarantee that the performers at their old theatre troupe wouldn’t be falling onto a bad path, they could pay that off much easier than the full mortgage.
So, in conclusion, Johnny and his family, stolen money included in this, are still some of the poorest characters in all of Sing. They probably didn’t want to steal in the first place either, judging by how they were planning on stopping after the flubbed heist anyway. They were just desperate. they needed money, and clearly the garage plus whatever side jobs Johnny could have potentially had were not enough.
I believe that the main reason we don’t see them still stealing in Sing 2 is that their debts were paid off, more than likely by Nana Noodleman as she’s the only one with that amount of money lying around. This allowed them to begin working again without a immediate threat of debt, and with the money Johnny’s bringing in from the theatre, the family is probably in a bit better shape.

sing 2 spoilers
AHHHHHH I LOVED SING 2!!!! IT HAD A LOT OF STUFF THAT I WANTED
The animation was freaking gorgeous, especially on the big screen
Buster... I would die for him okay I HATE when he’s sad and he spends so much of this movie sad and scared and I just wanna give him a hug
I love that they all had more interactions with each other!! It’s such a fun group of characters, and it was nice to have all their little arcs be tied together like they were as opposed to the first movie where they’re all dealing with their stuff by themselves
Buster just loves his crew so much... it’s so sweet they’re basically his family now and they all clearly adore him just as much
OH I LOVE THAT BUSTER FINALLY HAS A BED. That was so cute that he has a little apartment in his theater!! He doesn’t have to sleep in his desk drawer anymore!!
But he hides in there when he’s upset/anxious??? That’s fucking adorable AND I LOVE HOW NANA WAS PEEKING IN ALL THE LITTLE CORNERS WHEN SHE WAS LOOKING FOR HIM LIKE SHE KNEW HE LIKES TO HIDE IN SMALL SPACES???
NANA!!! THE ENCOURAGEMENT!! I think she like adopted him as an honorary grandson or something after the first movie. She looks so concerned and fond of him in their scene together, I love this
On that note WHERE WAS EDDIE. WHY WASN’T HE HERE!! At the very least they could’ve thrown him in at the end and have him accompany Nana to see the show with Buster at the end with all the other miscellaneous characters, he wouldn’t have even had to have any lines. Buster and Eddie are absolutely dating I will not be convinced otherwise, it’s partially why Nana is so fond of him now as well
MEENA. I WOULD ALSO DIE FOR MEENA SHE’S SO GOOD. I sort of expected her love interest to be in this more?? But I’m not upset about it, she was so cute crushing on him and not knowing what to do. I love Meena she’s the best
Johnny!! He’s trying his best!! I like that they didn’t shy away from showing how anxious this show was making him (and Rosita too). and Nooshy!! She was super cool, I adored their friendship and how they all brought her right into the show
And Johnny’s dad!! He and his gang out of prison!! Whole-heartedly supporting Johnny!!! Them coming immediately to help the crew and beat up the security guards for them!!! I LOVED THIS SO MUCH AND THE ENTHUSIASTIC GREETING JOHNNY HAD HE WAS SO HAPPY TO SEE HIS DAD... I’M GLAD THEY’RE OKAY NOW
Rosita!! I loved seeing her and Norman together, they definitely have a much better relationship in this movie. Them and their kids together were great, I died laughing when she told him to “release the piglets” and he just lets them wreak havoc. And like with Johnny seeing all the emotion she had about the show and the anxiety, it just felt very real and you really hurt for her. I love Rosita sm
Ash! I almost felt like she... got the least to work with?? Idk how to explain it, she just didn’t feel quite the same as the first movie?? First movie she’s very upfront, tells it like it is, and in this one after her first scene she seems like really calm and chilled out?? Idk I didn’t really have a problem with it though, I loved her being the one to get through to Clay it was very soft and sweet
GUNTER. I love that he actually had something to do, writing the show!! He didn’t get to have an plot in the last movie and this time he did, good for him.
Miss Crawly. Best old lady. Would die for.
Buster almost dying. Twice. Suki letting him out of the room and helping him and the crew even after she slammed them before. Rosita saving him when Crystal shoves him over the platform. Beautiful.
All the crew pulling him on stage to take a bow with them!!! They adore him!!!
But!! The whole idea of the first movie was that he wanted his theater so... why does he so willingly leave it for the big time here??? That felt very sudden, like I’m glad he’s happy but did he just really ditch his theater that meant everything to him?? No mention of his beloved dad at all, huh?? I did love that very ending shot of Buster hanging over the railing watching the show that mirrored the opening of the first movie when he does the same thing as a little kid?? That was good shit
I got my hopes up thinking they’d tell us what happened to Mike. No mention at all, just pretend he didn’t exist it’s fine!!! He’s probably dead lol
The ending was beautiful. The song choice... excellent. Buster watching the show with Nana and Miss Crawly and Norman and Alfonso and I think the talent scout lady was there too?? Or Johnny’s dad?? There was a sixth person sitting with them I forget who it was. But it gave me such feels. It felt like a a very final ending which kinda sucks because I want to see more of all these guys 🥺 they could make a very good tv show out of these characters, I’d kill to see that

After finally seeing sing 2 after years of waiting, I’ve got long, spoilery thoughts about it!! Here’s what I managed to gather so far.
MASSIVE SPOILER WARNING BELOW
- All the visuals improved. The textures, the facial expressions, all are amazing. Those shots of realistic foliage are basically Illumination flexing, lmao. Also it was so hard to sit still and pay attention to details because it was so easy to get lost in the music.
- So basically the plot wouldn’t have happened if Buster could take criticism and light praise lol
- No explanation to where Eddie went. I like to think he got an internship abroad to find a purpose in his life. Maybe Nana is portrayed as the new Moon Theater’s patron, if not owner, but it feels like her roles were originally meant for Eddie.
- I will say that the pacing in the first half is a little weird. I feel like there were a few important moments of character development that happened offscreen, especially between the old and new character interactions.
- That said, I loved that first little hint that Porscha isn’t happy with her dad’s treatment when we see a brief crestfallen look when he leaves. Consider how betrayed she must have felt, thinking her father would console her after getting “fired.” Instead he makes it all about him and has these total strangers handle her instead of himself. I can guarantee you that, offscreen, Porscha forgot about getting “fired” and now just cried about how little her Stage Dad cared for her.
- Anyway I love Porscha, even if I didn’t vibe with her at first. She only slips into her mean spoiled princess act when she doesn’t get way, but outside of that, she acts more like Elle Woods mixed with Charlotte from the Princess and The Frog.
- I feel like the upbeat nature of A Sky Full of Stars didn’t really fit the play’s war scene. It should’ve been Imagine Dragons’ Radioactive, especially given that the live version of that song contains a crescendo drum number that the movie incorporated. Although if Johnny needed a fast-paced song to dance to, maybe a hip-hop song would’ve done the job too.
- Ryan seems like a chill guy. Cool tiger. I want him and Johnny to hang out.
- I love Nooshy getting especially exited at the prospect of committing crimes. And the way she initially thought Johnny was asking her out on a date was priceless. Headcanon: lesbian….
- More on Nooshy, she acts a more childish than I originally assumed, so I really don’t know how old she is… I still think she’s in her early 20’s, and just probably acts immature. I want to know her past, especially since it’s obvious she likes to skirt the law…
- My gosh, I love that Gunter is the author of the screenplay, even though Buster had to spend effort helping him form it into a slightly more coherent plot. He’s got a creative mind and I’m proud of him, even if he’s indecisive. (He and my Christine have potential to clash. The silly storyteller vs the “serious” one.)
- I actually kinda dig that the in-universe play for Alice in Wonderland takes place in modern times, with a modern-day Alice in high school going into Wonderland.
- Alfonso must’ve somehow seen Meena before, and practiced that pickup line for her. Smooth.
- I thought Darius was gonna be enough of a jerk to have Alfonso replace him at the last minute, but the yak’s a competent actor and not a terrible person outside of his annoying pride. I have a feeling that might’ve been on the original draft of the script? But Meena imagining her crush on Darius’ place so she would feel comfortable acting romantic with an actor she isn’t into is pretty poignant from an acting perspective.
- Suki was surprisingly good. I didn’t expect her to join the gang.
- The cat though? He’s basically LeFou as a feline, which I’m pretty sure was completely intentional. Definitely a gay simp.
- The kids in my theater CLAPPED and CHEERED when Big Daddy came back. I didn’t know he was popular lol
- I don’t even have to change the script too much to make it fit the Ash Moon AU. Ash acts very close to Buster, beaming at him, and hugging him tightly at the beginning. It’s *adorable*. Imagine Porscha feeling even more inspired to stand up to her dad after seeing what real affection between father and daughter looks like, despite not even being related by blood.

Just finished watching Sing 1. It was so good I absolutely loved it, and will definitely have to give it some rewatches later, too. I still prefer Sing 2, but both are insanely good. I also took a bunch of notes while watching, so enjoy that: ♫ buster moon references being the first koala in space ♫ buster tells meena just sing and she wont be afraid anymore ♫ buster moon, certified dilf ♫ also moon definitely is dating eddie ♫ also why is he committing so many crimes ♫ the scene where moon wakes up is supreme, too ♫ carwash scene - hes so tired :( ♫ buster moon says "help" when attacked by the piglets, just like in sing 2 ♫ qteez show up again front row for ash after her show, just like how they show up for her at her concert at the beginning of sing 2 ♫ also her song is so good ♫ mike is roughly the same size and shape as a mic..micro...microphone (im hilarious trust me) ♫ god i love johnnys dad, he cares about his son so much ♫ i cant believe people called meena a pickme girl. she literally just has anxiety and wants to make her family proud ♫ oh yeah, moon telling meena to sing and her fears will go away is kinda just like what ash tells to clay calloway lol ♫ i hate when the piglets make noises during the songs ♫ vore ♫ ohmygod does the bear kill mike? i hope so thank god ♫ me and my friend agreed that ash is definitely punk. (lance is a poser) ♫ why did they make moon so cute in this movie ♫ nana is proud of him omg lets goooooo ♫ AND THE MOON BOWING. ♫ "all creatures great and small" he says this at the start of "Out of This World" There's a lot of neat small little parallels, and overall I loved the movie so much. Amazing watch. My favorite song would have to be Set It All Free [x]

‘The Winds Have Changed’ (Part 4) Noodlemoon
Part 4.
Note: Hooray for another update!
Eddie awoke rather lazily. He somehow managed to make it to his couch to sleep the night rather than his own bed. No matter; the sheep slept comfortably enough. He stretched his body across the comfortable surface and rolled over. He tried going back to sleep but the urge to use the bathroom overwhelmed him and so he got up. Once risen from the couch, Eddie experienced a massive head rush and placed a hoof to his temple. Yup, going to need painkillers for that, he thought. He headed to the kitchen and browsed his medicine cabinet until he found them. After addressing the morning hangover, Eddie made a breakfast of oatmeal and assorted fruits with complimentary orange juice. He never really cared for cooking, but living on his own made him learn more about it and the more he was forced to do it, the more he enjoyed it; primarily because he was actually creating edible dishes now. Once he was done, he sat down and began to eat. While doing so, Eddie tried thinking about the events of the night before. He and Buster had hung out and played games, had dinner, picked a movie, had made himself a really good cocktail... and that's about it, he thought. Nothing exciting. He had thought he remembered an intimate moment, as if he had kissed someone but he brushed the thought aside and figured it was just a thought he had the night before. He took another bite. As the sleepy hazed brushed to the side, more memories began to come back to him. He remembered Buster leaving in a rush. Like he was scared of something... Eddie shook his head; why would Buster be afraid? It was just the two of them. Maybe something with the bank... Eddie wracked his brain. No, Buster in financially stable now... Another bite of oatmeal. That's right, we talked about his bachelor status. Eddie grinned at the thought of teasing Buster about being single. He took another bite of his meal. Maybe he was afraid of me asking about such personal things? I mean, I'm no stud either. Another bite. Oh yeah, I asked him about liking guys. Probably made the poor guy nervous, Eddie recalled his actions while in his drunken state. Always thought Buster had a thing for guys and girls, never thought he was a full out queer. Then again, I guess not many people would guess the same about me. Eddie mused about his romantic life. He really did miss having a partner, a boyfriend. His mind went back to Buster. He again scooped some oatmeal onto his spoon and took a bite. He is really cute... Eddie spat out the mouthful of oatmeal and choked on the last bit of it. He stood up from the kitchen island and beat his chest to help cough out the rest of the oatmeal remnants.
"Oh my God..." Eddie held a hoof to his mouth and began tapping the other feverishly against the island's top.
"Oh my God, oh my God ohmyGod..."
Eddie began to hold his head in his hands. He let out a multitude of curses as he remembered last night. He remembered why Buster left in a frightened state.
"Shit, how am I going to make it up to him for that?"
Buster and Johnny had been perusing the impressive bike shop. Buster was overwhelmed with all the different brands and models he didn't know where to start. Johnny had gone over to where the skateboards were held which left Buster to browse on his own. Buster decided to narrow down his selection by talking to an employee, a gazelle.
"Yes, excuse me sir, but do you have any bikes with fitted pedals for individuals of my size?"
The gazelle swung himself over th counter and had a rugged look to him. He looked at the koala like he hadn't heard what he said and when Buster was about to speak again, he was cut off.
"Yeah, I'll take you to them." The gazelle swaggered in front of him and started walking. Buster suddenly became very thankful of the teens he worked with. Meena, Ash and Johnny (until two months ago) were never so aloof with him. Buster was led to rows of bikes that had fitted pedals to accommodate his short legs. One by one, he hopped onto them and tested out how the bikes fit him. When he came to one that he especially liked, he rode it for a bit in the back parking lot and brought it to the front of the store to be checked out.
"I think this one will do!" Buster said enthusiastically.
The gazelle was looking in a separate direction trying on hid phone. Buster gave a cough. The teen was slow to be brought back to type on the computer the serial number for the bike. Buster tapped his fingers impatiently against the side of the bike. Finally, the teen looked up again from the screen.
"That'll be eight-hundred and fifty-two dollars and some change."
Buster shook his head at the gazelle saying 'and some change' and fished for his debit card.
"Here you go." Buster said and he handed over the card.
Bikes are expensive these days, he thought. But he really liked the look and model of the bike so he didn't mind spending a little extra for it. Plus it came with a warranty, so that was a bonus. The gazelle handed him back his card and a copy of his receipt to sign. As he was signing he heard Johnny telling the worker he was with the have a good day. Once Buster was done with the transaction Johnny came over and whistled.
"That's a fine lookin' bike there, Buster!"
"Glad you agree, Johnny! Spent a little more than I normally would but, hey, we all have to splurge at some point!" He gave the bike seat a rub.
"Yea, you bet!" Johnny run his hands over the framework and handles.
Buster turned his attention to the gazelle.
"Thank you, sir." He said a little awkwardly whilst giving a slight wave and turning away with the bike.
"No problem dude." He replied while on his phone again.
Johnny and Buster exited the shop and headed back to the same bus stop.
"Did you find what you were looking for?" Buster asked the gorilla.
"Yea, there were right kind bout' 'elping me, too! Put the trucks in and even replaced the paper of my board as well!" Johnny looked satisfied with his visit.
"Sounds like a good time. I unfortunately had to deal with that teenager. He wasn't much help; just kinda stood there on his phone and shrugged his shoulders when I asked him something."
"It did seem rather quiet over there with the two of you."
They arrived at the bus stop when Buster got an idea.
"Hey, how far away are we from the theater?"
The gorilla tapped his fingers. "bout' ten miles I'd say."
Buster thought a bit more.
"If you don't mind I think I'm going to test this cruiser out for a bit." He patted the bike.
"No, I don't mind at all. Have fun with it! And don't get hit by a car or anythin'!"
Buster laughed. "I'll make sure to keep that in mind!"
He hopped onto the bike seat and waved goodbye as he sped down the street. Although Buster was wobbly at first, he soon fell back into the familiar motions of biking; shifting his weight, timing his pedaling, braking at turns. It was an enjoyable experience riding the streets once again for the koala. Once he returned home to the theater, he set to work about scheduling an appointment with a real-estate agent and called until he found one that would book the rest of the day with him; not that that was hard considering he was the Buster Moon.
"Yeah, 2:45 should work!" Buster said on the phone. He was leaned back in his chair and twisted a finger through the cords. "Oh, You'll be providing a ride? Sounds lovely! I'll see you then! Thank you!"
Right when he hung up his work phone his personal cellphone started to chirp with an incoming call. Buster looked at his phone and saw that it was Eddie trying to reach him. There was a moment of panic that flung through him like a rip tide. For a moment, Buster contemplated just declining the call there but then decided that would be immature. He decided to overcome his anxiety and pick up the phone.
"Hello?" He said, wishing someone else would answer.
"Heyyy Buster... How's it going?" The sheep said, sounding a little uncomfortable.
"It's going good, and you?" He said, leaning a bit on his desk and trying his best to not sound awkward.
"Yeah man, same here. I, uh, you want anything?"
Buster was now definitely confused by the sheep.
"What do you mean?"
"Like, uh, a car or like, I don't know, a new desk..." Eddie's voice broke a bit.
"Uhh, no, Eddie, I'm fine. Plus your Nana refurbished the office, so... Thanks for the random, er, generosity though."
There was a moment of silence between the two. Buster ran a hand over his pant-leg to remove the sweat that had formed on his palm. Eddie broke the silence.
"Uh, okay, just let me know if you, ya know, want anything."
"I'll keep that in mind, Eddie. Thank you."
Buster knew he was running away from the situation. Here Eddie was, his forming object of desire. But he didn't know what to say or ask without sounding creepy or obvious. Something was bothering Eddie, though, and Buster instincts as his close friend overrode his bearing thoughts.
"Is there something you want, Eddie? Do you need me for anything?"
     A pause.
"Uh, no. No, just wandering if my good friend Buster needs anything or wants anything."
"Okay Eddie, just checking in."
Buster was about hang up the phone when he thought of something. Something incredibly stupid.
"Hey, want to know what I need, Eddie?"
"Uh, yeah, what is it?" It sounded as though Eddie was relieved about something.
"I could use a really good dinner is what I could use."
"Alright man, do you want to meet at that restaurant we always met at but never actually ate at?"
Buster laughed at the statement. That sounds more like Eddie.
"Sounds good to me. What time?"
"Whatever is best for you."
"Alright, sounds like a plan. Set a nice reservation for six, would you?"
"Alright, I got it."
"See you at six."
"You too."
Buster hung up the phone and placed it back into his jacket's inner pocket. Although he was nervous, Buster was also excited to have dinner with Eddie. The phone call had eradicated any fear Buster had of the two hanging out since getting the awkward bit out of the way was now done. He looked out his office window and walked over to let some air in. When he looked to the street below, he saw a sleek black car out front and a skunk in a suit waiting outside it. Buster checked the time and ran down to meet the lady while not believing it was 2:48 already.
"Hey, uh, sorry about the wait. I didn't mean to keep such a nice lady waiting! Especially one that freed her after noon for little ol' me." Buster said to the skunk apologetically. He was hoping his charm would eradicate any negative feelings she might have towards him.
"It's no problem, Mr. Moon! I wasn't waiting long. Are you ready to start browsing? I already have some locations in mind for you!" She opened the passenger side door for him.
"Sounds absolutely lovely, my dear!" He hopped into the car and they drove off.
"Boy am I a goddamn moron." Eddie slammed his head against the couch cushion.
He moped some more after he ended the phone call with Buster and thought over what had happened. Why did I say that? Did I really think he would just let me... Why I am I so dumb? It would've been easier to just apologize for what happened. Now I have to go to dinner with the guy... Eddie just realized it wasn't any dinner; it was an expensive dinner. A dinner he didn't have money for. Eddie wasn't living paycheck by paycheck and had some wiggle room, but he couldn't afford to pay over a hundred dollars on a meal for two. I did tell him whatever he wanted. I was so desperate to even offer to buy him a car. Nana wouldn't have liked to have heard about that. Eddie shot up from the couch.
   "Nana!"
Eddie made quick work to freshen himself up. He chose a jacket and sped out the door to his car. He engine ignited and he sped out of the parking lot towards his grandmothers house. He would usually call his grandmother to let her know he was coming but the situation was too dire to waste time in a phone call when he could just talk to her and try his best to get the money for the night. He hoped she would understand since he never once asked her for money before seeing it as extremely rude to try and make a buck off of her retirement funds (no matter how excessive they were). He became nervous at the prospect of asking Nana for money but decided to take the risk because she had become softer, well, as soft as a women of her stature could be, after the rebuilding of the theater and the fact she was able to go see shows there whenever she wanted. Nana also loved helping out directing the cast from time to time and suggesting shows to Buster. And Buster always put on a show Nana wanted to see. Buster is such a good guy, Eddie thought as he remembered how excited his grandmother looked when she first heard Buster was putting on one of her favorite musicals. He pulled into the elaborate parking space in front of the mansion and rung the doorbell. He heard the butler through the speaker.
"Welcome to the Noodleman estate currently housed by Nana Noodleman. May I ask who is looking to visit today?"
Eddie pressed the intercom's button and spoke. "Hey Aaron, it's Eddie. I have to speak to my Nana for a bit."
"Of course, sir." The gate was opened and Eddie walked up the steps to the waiting open door.
The penguin closed the door after him as he entered. He was used to his nana walking down the steps for his arrival but saw she wasn't there.
"Your grandmother is taking a moment to get ready, sir. Would you like anything while you wait? A seat? Refreshment?" The penguin offered.
"Uh, no, I'm good where I am but thank you." Eddie stood awkwardly at the entrance.
Aaron never had really asked Eddie if he needed anything because he was usually busy being scolded by his grandmother at this point.
"As you will, sir."
So the two stood still at the entrance. Eddie began tapping his foot lightly against the marble and started to whistle softly. Just when the silence was about to become unbearable, a sight of purple caught his eyes and he looked up. Nana had begum walking down the steps and was still tying her headband unto her wool.
"Oh, it's just my grandson! Gosh, I thought it was someone actually important..."
Eddie just sighed at the usual comments.
"Hey, Nana. How are you doing?" Eddie walked towards the spiral staircase.
"Perfectly fine until I rushed to become presentable. Should've called, Eddie, to let your poor grandmother know to not worry." She booped him on the nose with her fan.
Eddie just slightly rubbed the spot and replied, "Well, I was in bit of a rush and just decided to come over and talk about it-"
"And talk about what exactly?" She said, cutting him off, as she started walking to one of many side rooms.
    Eddie followed behind her.
"Uh, well, uh..." Eddie didn't know whether to tell the truth or to just lie about the situation.
I can't lie to her; she is my nana! Well, I guess I don't have to tell the whole truth...
"Stop blubbering child and just spit it out! I like that color on you, by the way; red suits you nicely." She seated herself on a plush chair and Eddie sat in the one across from her. Aaron had come back with tea and biscuit spread and placed it on the coffee table and exited the room, closing the doors behind him.
"Well, I'm kinda in a situation..." Eddie said. He could feel the beginning of the embarrassment forming to a point where his grandmother's statement washed over him.
"Oh, and here I thought you actually just wanted to see me!" Nana took a sip of tea.
"C'mon, Nana. You know I love you despite your, um, harsh ways."
Nana smiled behind her tea mug.
"I love you too, dear." She took a sip. "So, go ahead and talk to me about your situation." She waved a hand at him.
Eddie took a gulp. He sat rather stiff with his legs together and hands folded trying his best to look respectable.
"Well, I kinda promised someone I would take them out to a nice dinner. And, well, I haven't really got the money for it now." He looked at his grandmother expecting a response. Since she remained silent Eddie continued. "I've never once asked money from you, Nana, and, believe me, I feel really bad about asking and I promise to make it up to you in any way I can after the fact. It's just, I'm in a hard place right now and can't afford such a fancy place to take him-" Eddie closed his mouth when he realized he said 'him'.
"Oh! A man I see. Always knew you were a little queer boy. Helped raise you right then." Nana chuckled at her own form of humor.
Eddie turned red. "Oh, no no no, it's not like that."
    Nana sat up strait.
"Do not lie to me Edward James Noodelman!" She did a dramatic close of her fan.
I guess I'm being forced into a lie.
"Uh, okay. Yeah, I'm going on a date with a guy tonight. Ya know, wanted to impress him and all that." Eddie felt the heat in his face and looked away. He then panicked. "Nana, please don't mention it to anyone, okay?"
Nana settled back into her chair. "I won't dear. How much do you think you'll need? You'll also need a haircut. Good lord boy, that wool is far too long."
"Uh-" Before Eddie could come up with a number, Nana called for Aaron to bring her 'pocket-book'.
Nana fished out some hundred dollar bills.
"You're right Eddie, you've never asked money from me so enjoy the extra. You needn't pay me back."
"Aw, thanks Nana-" As he reached for the bills Nana quickly drew her arm back.
"You can get them on one account, though."
    Oh, great.
"And what would that be, Nana?"
    Nana leaned close to Eddie.
    "Who is the lucky guy?"
Eddie's heart stopped. He instinctively brought his shoulders up in defense. He opened his mouth but words weren't forming. Shit, didn't think this through. His nana pressed on despite his panic.
"Is it another sheep? Are they a larger or smaller animal? How old is he? Don't date snakes, dear, they're a mess. My goodness Eddie, you need some water? You're sweating an awful lot-" Nana halted her inquiries.
Eddie looked at her confused as he tried to think of a bachelor in his mind. Nana noticed Eddie's discomfort and began thinking as to why her grandson would be so uncomfortable. Nana had a look of bewilderment on her face and she covered her mouth with a hoof.
"Edward. Goodness! Isn't he, well, isn't he a little old for you?"
Eddie was in panic mode now. "W-what do you mean? Who? Who's too old for me?"
Nana stood up and started walking around the room. "Well, I mean, he is rather charming if I do say so myself. And he is hygienic; always look so well groomed and refreshed. And you two have been around each other a while. I mean, I guess it could work. How old is he anyway? Can't be too much, certainly doesn't look it."
Eddie was listening to Nana speak and was trying so hard to not believe she was thinking the same person he was.
He desperately asked, "Nana! Who are you talking about?"
Nana turned around and looked directly at Eddie, closing her fan once again.
    "Why, that koala; Buster Moon!"
Eddie's throat closed as he heard the name he feared spoken aloud.
"Nana! No, it's not-"
It was too late. Nana was already walking out of the room. She shoved the bills to Eddie as he frantically followed after her and almost knocked him over.
"Nana please-"
"There you are, Eddie. Now go and enjoy your evening with Mr. Moon. If he even tries doing anything devilish with you though..." She spun around far quicker than any women her age should be able to and pointed the fan at Eddie's face. "I'll personally see to it he doesn't have a theater anymore."
"Uh, Nana-"
"Have a good night, Eddie. Let me know how it goes when you visit me next Wednesday!" She started up the stairs.
Eddie quietly says, "Nana..." before giving up on it.
He turns to leave and hears her call after him again.
"And make sure to tell him I'm only eighty-two!"
Eddie exits the mansion and mumbles a 'thanks' to Aaron for holding the door for him before getting into his car. He spent a minute pocketing the money and rested his head on the seering wheel. He could feel himself getting a headache at the situation he was now in and rubbed his temples. He peered over at the clock and saw it was nearing four. Still have to make reservations, he grumpily thought. For my date... He shook his head and decided he had to do something to distract himself from the whole ordeal. He first decided to set a reservation at the restaurant. Eddie sat back in his car seat while he talked to the chimpanzee ensuring him that this time they would definitely be paying for a meal. He played with a stray strand of wool swirling out from the rest and sat a bit more. Maybe going to a barber is a good idea. He set a GPS to a well rated shop and drove away from the Nana Noodleman Estate. As Eddie drove he hoped that things would go well between Buster and him during their dinner. Eddie was still wondering which was the better option; apologize to Buster and address the situation or continue to pretend as if it didn't happen. Eddie couldn't see why he just couldn't muster the courage to apologize like an adult to Buster. Today, it also seemed like Buster didn't care much or seemed worried talking with me. And the fact he suggested dinner means he is just probably over it by now. Nothing to stress, Eddie, absolutely nothing. Eddie reached a stop light. As he waited his hooves started tapping against the steering wheel again. He groaned again in frustration.
I am extremely stressed.  How am I suppose to make it thorough tonight...
