Dandadan Anime Officially Announced

Dandadan (and just anime in general) fans rejoice, Dandadan's anime has been announced, and brings with it some impressively good news! Being animated by Science Saru, coming in 2024, the series packs a lot of great information into only just a few staff roles, and I'd love to give a background on them.

So, let's start from the top, Science Saru. Everyone and their dog has been watching the Scott Pilgrim anime, and for good reason. Science Saru boasts incredible quality alongside creativity that seems perfectly fitted to the story, and that's really their MO with their series. Heike Monogatari, Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken, Inu-Ou, even Time Machine Blues. All incredibly refined and insanely creative series that you would struggle to find a single fault in.

And the same will most likely be said about Dandadan. Just take a look at the staff.

Fuuga Yamashiro as a lead director is a name that most probably will have never encountered, but will have 100% watched something from. Truthfully, this is their first time as a lead director, but they got their start with assistance direction under arguably two of the greatest to ever do it: Masaaki Yuasa and Shingo Natsume. So even if it's their first rodeo holding the reins, I have absolute confidence in their ability to deliver something quite literally out of this world.

It does also help having Hiroshi Seko on series composition. Now, I might have a bone to pick with them in regards to things like JJK season 2, butttt, considering what Mappa's been like lately and that Seko's work prior to this whole Mappa mess has been stellar, I have no complaints with their involvement.

Another similar story is musician Kensuke Ushio. Their work at Mappa has been... disappointing, to say the least thanks to series like Chainsaw Man. Thankfully, they have a very storied history with Science Saru in the role, and have more than delivered in each instance. Because of that I'm really looking forward to what they're able to cook up here.

As for the character designer and yokai designer, I don't have too much to add. Naoyuki Onda is about as steady as you could expect, doing impressive work with character designs across a wide range, going from something like Hathaway's Flash to MF Ghost and nailing both. Kameda Yoshimichi is in a somewhat similar position. I mean, they did the character designs for Mob Psycho in its entirety, as well as assisting with the S1 OPM character designs.

This is just an absolutely rock solid core of high level staff members, and coming off the heel of Science Saru's mega hit in Scott Pilgrim, it's hard to believe that they wouldn't be able to just absolutely knock it out of the park with this series. Really excited to learn more as we inevitably will at Jump Festa this year.

Une date de prévue pour partir à la chasse aux fantômes et aux aliens en octobre 2024 sur ADN Anime, Crunchyroll et Netflix… Autrement dit, vu le nombre de plateforme qui va diffuser l'anime, vous n'avez pas beaucoup d'excuse de le rater… sauf si vous n'aimez pas l'histoire.

C'est donc DanDaDan de Yukinobu Tatsu qui va être sérialisé avec à la réalisation Fuga Yamashiro et le scénario est confié à Hiroshi Seko (L'attaque des Titans, Jujutsu Kaisen...). Le character design est garantie par Naoyuki Onda et la musique assurée par Kensuke Ushio (Chainsaw Man pour le plus connu)

Le tout est porté par le studio Science SARU qui a porté par exemple à l'écran Devilman crybaby.

Chaque semaine, les aficionados pourront découvrir un nouvel épisode.

Rappel de l'histoire : "Momo Ayase et Ken Takakura sont tous deux lycéens. Tandis que la première croit aux fantômes et une passionné de l'occultisme, le second est fasciné par les extraterrestres. Évidemment, chacun se moque des croyances de l'autre. Incapables de se convaincre, ils se lancent un défi pour savoir lequel des deux a raison.

Momo se retrouve dans un hôpital où des créatures de l'espace sont censées se trouver et Ken dans un tunnel hanté. Bien évidemment, tous les deux se retrouvent face à ce qu'ils niaient quelques minutes auparavant.

C'est le début d'une romance survoltée où l'occulte, le paranormal et le surnaturel se bousculent dans un chaos haletant !

Dan Da DAn est à découvrir en manga aux éditions Crunchyroll avec au moment où le billet est écrit 10 tomes en France.

ANIME RECAP: per decreto dell'Imperatore, tutte le news disperse si radunino in questo post!

Questa settimana ho raccolto per voi altre 10 novità.

Nella tetra oscurità di questo piovoso sabato sera ci sono solo trailer, più un aggiornamento che sa di annuncio. Disney, Crunchyroll e gli editori giapponesi potranno anche bombardarmi a tappeto tutta la settimana con news di ogni tipo, ma il sacro ANIME RECAP è un bastione inespugnabile!

🔶🔸KIMI NO IRO

Ve ne avevo già parlato nell'ANIME RECAP di qualche settimana fa, ma oggi c'è stato il reveal ufficiale: il nuovo film diretto da Naoko Yamada (K-On!, Tamako Market, Liz e l’uccellino azzurro, La forma della voce, Heike monogatari) debutterà nelle sale giapponesi nell'autunno 2023.  

La storia è incentrata su Totsuko, una liceale che può vedere i "colori" delle emozioni nel cuore delle persone. Pur di evitare che i suoi amici e la sua famiglia provino sentimenti oscuri, fa di tutto per appianare le situazioni, anche mentire. Il caso la porterà a formare una piccola band, assieme ad una ragazza che emana dei colori incredibili e un ragazzo appassionato di musica.

Nato da un'idea originale della regista, il lungometraggio è sceneggiato da Reiko Yoshida (Ride Your Wave, Violet Evergarden) e in produzione presso lo studio SCIENCE SARU (Inu-Oh, The Tatami Time Machine Blues).

🔶🔸TRIGUN STAMPEDE

Online il main trailer per l’attesa nuova serie animata tratta dal celebre manga di Yasuhiro Nightow (Blood Blockade Battlefront), che potremo seguire su Crunchyroll, a partire dal  7 gennaio 2023.

Realizzato in computer grafica presso ORANGE (Land of the Lustrous, Beastars), questo nuovo adattamento, in chiave moderna e finalmente completo, dell’iconico western sci-fi anni ‘90, è diretto da Kenji Muto (direttore d’episodio in Land of the Lustrous e in Garo: Honoo no Kokuin).

🔶🔸FARMING LIFE IN ANOTHER WORLD

Secondo l'anime logic, curare un tuo orto non ti rifornisce solo di ottimi ortaggi, ma anche di graziose waifu.

Tutto confermato nel primo trailer dell’harem fantasy slice of life tratto dalla light novel di Kinosuke Naito. Che bella vita che fanno i protagonisti degli isekai!

La serie andrà in onda dal 6 gennaio 2023 ed è diretta da Ryoichi Kuraya (Tsugumomo) presso lo studio ZERO-G (Science Fell in Love So I Tried to Prove It).

🔶🔸APPARENTLY, DISILLUSIONED ADVENTURERS WILL SAVE THE WORLD

Locandina e nuovo trailer per l’avventura fantasy (sì, non è un iseaki!) con protagonista il party di reietti creato da Shinta Fuji. La trasposizione televisiva della light novel inizierà ad andare in onda dal 10 gennaio.

 La regia e la sceneggiatura sono in mano a Itsuki Imazaki (Hensuki, Ai-Mai-Mi Surgical Friends), che sta supervisionando i lavori in corso presso gli studi GEEK TOYS (Date A Live IV, Hensuki) e SEVEN (Hensuki, Peter Grill and the Philosopher’s Time: Super Extra).

🔶🔸REBORN TO MASTER THE BLADE

Secondo trailer anche per l'action fantasy, dal twist gender bender, che sbarcherà dal 9 gennaio in simulcast su Crunchyroll.

L’adattamento della light novel di Hayaken è in lavorazione presso STUDIO COMET (Fairy Ranmaru, Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE!) e alla regia troviamo Naoyuki Kuzuya (Bikini Warriors),

🔶🔸 KIZUNA NO ALLELE

L'anime di Kizuna Ai si mostra finalmente in un primo trailer, che ne fissa il debutto per il 2023. Al contrario di quanto si pensasse all'inizio, la serie non avrà come protagonista la celebre V-tuber, ma piuttosto delle inedite virtual artist in erba, che da lei prendono la loro ispirazione.

La serie è prodotta in collaborazione da SIGNAL.MD (Platinum End) e WIT STUDIO (Ranking of Kings). La regia e la sceneggiatura sono affidate, rispettivamente, a Kenichiro Komaya e Deko Akao (When Will Ayumu Make His Move?).

🔶🔸 SAINT SEIYA: KNIGHTS OF THE ZODIAC

Al tempo, la visione di "Dragonball Evolution" mi ha traumatizzato talmente tanto, che ho guardato questo primo trailer dell'adattamento live action dell'iconica saga di Masami Kurumada con gli occhi mezzi coperti.

Il debutto è programmato ancora per un generico 2023 e già si parla, potenzialmente, della realizzazione di sei film. A quanto pare, di questi tempi i produttori sono ingenuamente ottimisti.

Questa prima pellicola è diretta da Tomasz Baginski (che finora si è occupato solo di cortometraggi e della produzione della serie Netflix di The Witcher) e sceneggiata da Kiel Murray (Raya e l'ultimo drago), Josh Campbell (10 Cloverfield Lane) e Matt Stuecken (Notorious Nick).

🔶🔸 LUPIN ZERO

Ecco il trailer della nuova miniserie dedicata ai fan più irriducibili del mitico ladro gentiluomo creato dal compianto Monkey Punch.

I 6 episodi usciranno in streaming il 16 dicembre (sfortunatamente pare siano capitati nelle manacce di HIDIVE, ma vedremo) e ci porteranno nella Tokyo degli anni ‘60, da un giovanissimo Arsenio Lupin III.

Questo ennesimo capitolo del franchise vede cimentarsi alla regia il debuttante Daisuke Sako, mentre la sceneggiatura è a cura di Ichiro Okouchi (Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, Lupin III - Ritorno alle origini).

🔶🔸 DETECTIVE CONAN: KUROGANE NO SUBMARINE

Primo breve trailer anche per il consueto nuovo film annuale del franchise, con protagonista il piccolo grande detective di Gosho Aoyama.

La 26a pellicola della saga, diretta eccezionalmente da Yuzuru Tachikawa (Mob Psycho 100, Death Parade), uscirà in Giappone il 14 aprile 2023.

🔶🔸ZAN

Questo progetto era caduto talmente nell'oblio che ne avevo solo l'ombra di un ricordo. Vi porto indietro di qualche anno: nel 2010 si era parlato di un film d'animazione, diretto nientemeno che da Yoshitaka Amano (Final fantasy, Vampire Hunter D, Exception). Come avrete già capito, poi non se n'è fatto nulla.

Il 2022 è agli sgoccioli e il progetto è stato resuscitato, stavolta sottoforma di serie animata, sempre ispirata alla collezione DEVA ZAN del celebre artista.

Il protagonista della storia è un samurai logorato da una vita in costante guerra, in un epoca Edo ormai al tramonto. Un giorno, una misteriosa voce di donna lo guida verso un altro mondo, oltre lo spazio e il tempo, dove si imbatterà in novi nemici e verità dimenticate.

Dandadan TV anime - PV2

The TV anime adaptation of Yukinobu Tatsu’s Dandadan manga will premiere in October 2024. Netflix will stream the anime worldwide in October, and Crunchyroll will also stream the anime. GKIDS has acquired the theatrical, videogram, and digital transactional rights.

Creepy Nuts will perform the opening theme song “Otonoke”.
