Day 1: MinaxSaku💕

Okay, imma explain myself. Out of curiosity, what if and I say WHAT IF--Sakura would go back in time and meet Minato? I just thought--oh! That'll be great because i feel like they could be good friends BUT WAIT! I looked it up, searched some fanfictions and saw them paired up and thought huh, this is weird but let's give it a try and then BOOM!!! I was blown away by the amount of chemistry that they have in that one fanfiction (Start at the Beginning to Get to the End by FireThatFox) Amazing work Love it so much😭❤ and that's how my addiction to this pairing started but I was too shy to draw some and THEN I saw a post by @multisakumonth2k in which encouraged me to draw my very first MinaSaku pair AAAAACK!!!💖 This fanart is inspired from that wonderful fanfiction wherein Sakura was back from time traveling and Minato sensed her the minute he entered the Konoha gates, rushed to her and watches her sleeping. Of course our Sakura slapped the daylights out of him. Read it! The fanfics fun, angsty and spicy😉. Maybe confusing at first but read it 'til the end I promise it's good.

So apparently, Kishimoto will be drawing a short manga about the winner, Minato Namekaze (congratulations!).

He will also create original artwork of each of the characters in the top 20, and has supposedly said that he’ll include Might Guy (spring time!) and Kurama (doggo), who both landed on the 21st and 22nd spot respectively.

I voted for Sasuke (obviously), but I’m hella stoked about seeing the artwork for not only my Main Man, but also for our very own sunshine baby Naruto, Madara (the mad king), Deidara (the disaster artist), Gaara (my first favourite character when I started watching the show a million years ago because I was a slut for angsty guyliner and a sucker for redheads), Rock Lee (who embodies what the Will of Fire should have been) and Neji (my gorgeous darling genius who deserved so much better).

We know that some characters only landed in the top 20 due to spam voting by their obsessive stans (no names mentioned because y’all know which characters I’m referring to), but that was to be expected. No bother.

Let’s rejoice about the fact that Kishi will create some new artwork! Not SP! Kishi! The maddest lad (and biggest sns shipper)! So we’ll see what the characters, devoid of the twisted preferences of the studio, look like in his own vision! What a treat!

My Naruto Popularity Poll Conspiracy Theory

Okay, you know the character popularity poll going around for Naruto? Kishimoto will draw the top 20 characters, and the top character will get a mini-manga.

Call me paranoid, but I think the poll’s about more than hyping up your favorite characters. 

Think about it: We know Code is gearing up to attack Konoha. Kishimoto has said he’s okay with killing off his original characters. I think the poll is a way to see who he can kill off for drama. 

I don’t think it’s as simple as saying the lowest-ranking characters will die. Not too many people are going to care if Code kills Sukima from the first Chuunin exams. But if Sasuke dies, the whole franchise will go with him.

So where is the safe range? Well, let’s look at other major deaths and where characters ranked in the polls before they died.

Asuma

Asuma died in manga chapter 328. In Character Poll 6 (chapter 292), he ranked #21.

Jiraiya

Jiraiya died in manga chapter 383.  In Character Poll 6, he did not make the list of top 30. Although he did make #19 in the 10th Anniversary Poll, which combined the results of Polls 1-6.

Neji

Neji died in manga chapter 614. In Character Poll 7 (chapter 531), he ranked #15.

Kurama

Kurama died in the Boruto manga chapter 55. He didn’t make the top 21 in the 2021 Boruto Character Popularity Poll. In Character Poll 7, though, he ranked #52.

So based on this ridiculously small data set, we can guesstimate that the danger zone in popularity polls is between ranks 15 and 55, with 20 being the red-hot death spot. 

If you stan one of the Konoha 12 like Tenten or Choji, you’ll need to vote like hell to get them above rank 15. Doubly so if they are a parent whose death could provide convenient angst for a next-gen child. 

But if you’re all-time favorite is somebody like Anko or Pakkun, then you’re probably better off crossing your fingers and hoping they stay off everybody’s radar.

Masashi Kishimoto's new one-shot manga, NARUTO Gaiden ~Uzu no Naka no Tsumujikaze~ , featuring Naruto Uzumaki's father Minato Namikaze will run in  Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump 2023 magazine issue #33 on July 18, 2023. The new one-shot will have color pages to commemorate the results of NARUTOP99 and the 55th Anniversary of the magazine.

Minato Namikaze won the worldwide character popularity poll "Narutop 99" that was held in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Naruto franchise earlier in 2023.
