If I’m lucky, once every few years I get to meet my friend @shelleycameronmccarron. We live across the country from each other, but no matter how much time has gone by, we pick up exactly where we left off. That’s friendship. And it’s no surprise, that like Shelley and I, the 📷 of this pic is part of the travel community. We found this pic on Twitter, snapped by a Mexican journalist attending #gomedia2019 as we are. Today old friends reconnected in Gatineau Park, but we made several new connections, too. Thank you, Elsa Navarrete 🙏🏻❤️ full. #ExploreCanada * * * * * #outaouaisfun #myottawa #travelfriendships #gatineaupark #nationalcapitalcommission #forestbathing #forestbathingtherapy #friendship_goals #canadagram #canada_pic #lovetheworldtoday #lovetheworldtraveling #littlestoriesofmylife #theeverygirl #huffpostcanada #canada_gram #canadaeh #quebecoriginal #gatineau #gatineauhills #oldfriendships (at Gatineau, Quebec) https://www.instagram.com/p/B1FImeqhiaY/?igshid=1rn4pxqy4jae5

I got to know Stephen Fearing a little bit over his repeated appearances at @harbourfrontcentre where I was working as a production coordinator from about 1989-1999. I was always struck by the profoundly emotional response he aroused in me and anyone else in earshot with his song "The Longest Road". As the idea for Six String Nation began to take shape I (perhaps foolishly) let Stephen know what I was planning and that I wanted "The Longest Road" to be the first song played on it. He very politely took that as a compliment (I hope) but likely not much more as it would be 11 years for the guitar to make the leap from concept to actual instrument. But I never wavered in my plan for that to be the first song performed on this new creation.⠀ ⠀ After a November 2005 article about the project in the @globeandmail I was approached by the #nationalcapitalcommission who were then producing the Canada Day festivities on Parliament Hill asking if the guitar would be ready for July 1st so they could build the show around it. I (again, perhaps foolishly) said yes and we began to have regular meetings. At one of those meetings with Dr. Mark Kristmanson and his team I mentioned "The Longest Road" and provided an MP3 of the song. Next thing I knew, Stephen was booked to do the honours of the official launch on the main stage and his band, Blackie & the Rodeo Kings, was booked for one of the satellite stages as well.⠀ ⠀ The day, when it finally came, rolled out as if from a dream and was an unforgettable start to the journey of this guitar. ⠀ ⠀ Find out more about the Six String Nation project and book a live presentation at https://www.sixstringnation.com⠀ ⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ #CanadaDay #CanadianHistory #CanEd #CanadianMusic #SocialStudies #Indigenous #FirstNations #CanadianGuitar #acousticguitar #parliamenthill #CanadianTeachers #TruthAndReconciliation #keynotespeaker #blackieandtherodeokings #newfoundlandlabrador #novascotia⠀ #princeedwardisland #newbrunswick #quebec #ontario #manitoba #saskatchewan #alberta #britishcolumbia #yukon #northwestterritories #nunavut #VoiceEd #livemusic via Instagram https://ift.tt/2YrKW14
