The first couple of weeks back to school can be an especially rough time for children as they learn to cope with new stresses. Get them to open up about their day with a few minutes of helpful playtime with aromatherapy playdough! You’ll Need: -1 cup all-purpose flour -1/2 cup salt -2 tsp. cream of tartar -1 cup water -1.5 tbs. liquid cooking oil -Natural Food coloring -6-8 drops of essential oils Surprise your little one by preparing it for them, or make it together by stirring the flour, salt, and cream of tartar together in a saucepan. Carefully add the water, cooking oil, and food coloring and mix until smooth. Stir the mixture over medium-low heat until it becomes a ball. At this point (where it resembles playdough), allow it to cool 3-4 minutes away from the heat. Once cooled, add in your preferred oils by kneading a few drops into the dough. I love this recipe because it can last for months if stored in an airtight container (and even longer if the container is in the fridge)! FUN (AND HEALTHY) ACTIVITY FOR YOUR KIDS! With your guidance, your children can learn how to make their own Orange Creamsicle Lip Balms to use and show off. Look how easy this is: Ingredients: 1/2 ounce beeswax 1/2 ounce coconut oil 1/4 ounce shea butter 1/4 ounce cocoa butter 30 drops Wild Orange essential oil 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract Lip balm containers Directions: 1- Place everything, but Wild Orange essential oil and vanilla extract into glass measuring cup or bowl. 2- Fill large saucepan with 1-1.5 inches of water. Bring to boil. 3- Once boiling, place glass measuring cup in center of saucepan. 4- Stir every few minutes until ingredients have melted and are combined. 5- Once all wax is melted, remove from heat and let sit 3 minutes. 6- Add vanilla extract and Wild Orange essential oil. 7- Pour mixture into lip balm containers and let cool.
