In "Adoption of specific properties", a real branch has been 3D-scanned and then formed into a circle, newly milled out of the same wood; even the bark was transplanted from the original branch to the circle version in an arduous process. With this work, Kwade questions materiality and properties of transformation, while also connecting the idea of time to the artwork, as a circle has no end or beginning and is a mathematical form that does not exist as such in nature.

He’s survived encounters with bears, snakes, great white sharks. He almost didn't survive 1 encounter with a logging truck that cost him part of one of his legs in the late 70s. Years of stonemasonry, building and sculpting in hard stone on a prosthetic leg has led to chronic acute back pain these days. 1 BIG THING that’s inspired me about Werner Streicek is that he never stops learning. He’a hungry for knowledge & tho he can be stubborn once he’s done his research, he also tries to keep an open mind for new info. 🌊🌊🌊 BigThing2: His huge ♥️. Dad wants to give a portion of the sale of each piece to support youth-led organizations doing social and environmental justice work!!! He’s mentioned Black Lives Matter and also Idle No More and Sunrise. He’s given hope about humanity’s relationship to it’s true mama, by these youth-led orgs & is has long been inspired as you can see in his artwork by the ancient wisdom and living cultures of the indigenous people of the world who he sees as our true leaders.
