Twenty Questions for Fic Writers
Thanks for tagging me @anonmadsci !
How many works do you have on ao3?
I have 18! All but two are SGA
What's your total Ao3 word count?
421,430 yeesh, that's a little embarrassing to admit lol. Writing fic got me through college, and will probably get me through life.
What fandoms do you write for?
Stargate Atlantis, Good Omens (TV), and NBC Hannibal
Top five fics by kudos:
The Reconstruction of Will Graham (552) - Across the Universe (346) - Companion (172) - You Want It (139) - All Betts are off (107)
Do you respond to comments?
I always do eventually. Lately, I've been struggling with burnout and I've found that my capacity for doing anything online has shrunk way down. But that doesn't mean that I don't want to participate/respond, just that it might take a little longer. I appreciate every comment <3
What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
There's one that isn't finished. but in terms of finished fics, I think it's "Companion" (John/Todd) it ends with John getting his memory back and reliving a horrible past
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Across the Universe! That fic is my baby and my most indulgent. It ends with everyone happy and hopeful
Do you get hate on fics?
Just once on my Hannibal fic. Someone got really angry that I was "character bashing" (I wasn't) and even if I was, the whole thing they were referring to was noted in the tags and summary. They also criticized my use of ellipses lol
Do you write smut?
Yes, most of my fics have it. I've been doing it since what I want to call the Golden Age of Wattpad (like 2015-2018) (Though I axed all that stuff long ago. It was terrible)
Craziest crossover:
If I was ever going to finish the Hannibal fic (I won't because me and its coauthor broke up and don't speak) then it would have had the greek gods in it
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
God I hope not
Have you ever had a fic translated?
No, but it would be so cool
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes! The Hannibal fic (rip Hannibal fic) and me and @anonmadsci have an idea that I'd love to get back to!
All-time favourite ship?
John Sheppard/Todd the Wraith. They are my OTP
What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I have so many WIPs that are part of different series that I honestly have no idea. We'll have to see where inspiration takes me.
What are your writing strengths?
I think I'm good at setting, and I get good reactions to my dialogue and character internal monologue!
Thoughts on dialogue in another language?
I'm for it as long as I can look it up.
First fandom you wrote in?
First ever - Hamilton fic First that I put up somewhere - a smut fic for this Wattpad series called The Underworld Chronicles. My fic was on Wattpad and was culled (Wattpad used to delete stories that were pwp without any warning, they probably still do. I was twice a victim of that whole thing. eye roll). It's gone forever now.
Favourite fic you've written?
I am proudest of what I'm doing with "You're Too Sweet For Me" but my favorite will always be "Across the Universe."
This was fun!

ABC NEWS ANNOUNCES JACLYN LEE AND MELISSA ADAN AS MULTI-PLATFORM REPORTERS
Wendy Fisher, ABC News senior vice president of Newsgathering, sent the following note to the news division announcing that Jaclyn Lee and Melissa Adan are joining ABC News as multi-platform reporters.
Tumblr media
Pictured from left: Jaclyn Lee, Melissa Adan
I am excited to share that two new multi-platform reporters are joining our team this week. Jaclyn Lee begins today in New York, and Melissa Adan starts later this week and will be based in Los Angeles.
Jaclyn Lee joins us from our very own WPVI-TV in Philadelphia, where she served as an anchor/reporter since 2020. During her tenure, she spent time in the field, reporting on COVID-19, civil unrest, the 2020 presidential election and the unprecedented 2021 winter storm in Houston. Additionally, in response to the increase in anti-Asian American hate crimes nationwide, Jaclyn pitched and carried out an anti-Asian hate crime PSA that aired on OTV stations across the country.
Prior to WPVI, Jaclyn worked as a general assignment reporter and anchor at WVEC-TV, the ABC affiliate in Norfolk, Virginia. There she sharpened her investigative skills, reporting from the Virginia State Capitol on the blackface scandal and sexual assault allegations facing top state politicians. Jaclyn also spearheaded investigations into crucial shortages in the U.S. Navy, which caused officials to take action. Jaclyn’s work has also taken her around the globe. She reported on protestors against Machu Picchu tourism in Peru, the effort to preserve minority cultures in China, and the large number of sea lions dying in Chile, and she researched the aftermath of the 1994 genocide in Rwanda. Before relocating to Virginia, Jaclyn worked in Raleigh, North Carolina. She holds a degree in broadcast journalism from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill.
Melissa Adan comes to ABC from NBC 7 and Telemundo 20 in San Diego, where she worked as a general assignment news reporter and anchor since 2018. She is bilingual in English and Spanish, and her reporting has taken her worldwide. She recently traveled to Vatican City to cover Pope Francis’ appointment of new cardinals, has reported from Mexico on the immigration crisis at the border in Tijuana and Ciudad Juarez, and covered the 2018 migrant caravan in Tijuana. Her reporting in Australia on climate change in the aftermath of destructive wildfires won her a regional Emmy. She received the Al Neuharth Investigative Journalism Award from the National Association of Hispanic Journalists for her report on sex abuse and money mismanagement at migrant youth shelters in San Diego.
Previously, Melissa was a reporter/multimedia journalist at NBC 6 in South Florida. She covered many breaking news events, such as the mass shooting at the Fort Lauderdale airport, Hurricane Irma and the death of José Fernández, star pitcher for the Marlins. Melissa is a Miami, Florida native and a first-generation Cuban American. She has a master’s degree in criminal justice from Florida International University, a B.S. from Boston University's College of Communication and an A.A. from Miami Dade College, The Honors College.
Both Melissa and Jaclyn are skilled investigative reporters and great additions to our talented teams on both coasts.
Please join me in congratulating and welcoming Melissa and Jaclyn.

Movie Financials Uncovered - Spacenet TV's Box Office Analysis
Film studios aren't often able to disclose the budgets of their films. But there are ways to determine the cost of a film. Movies have to make money through a variety of sources beyond ticket sales. These include: ancillary revenue, sequels, merchandise, TV rights, and streaming. What's the word on box office profits? 1. Theatrical Revenue Tickets for movie theaters are the primary source of income for films. Whether a standard experience or an extravagant one the number of seats used during the filming process of a movie is directly linked to its overall potential for revenue. The big box office numbers you read about in the media are based on gross domestic and international revenues. Before the money is transferred to the studios they must deduct the costs. Then there's the sales tax and the shares of cinemas - which typically range from 40 to 45 percent. That's before the actors' share and the other distribution costs. A movie isn't considered profitable when the box office revenue exceeds twice the amount that was invested in its production. This is why some movies that have huge profits such as "Harry Potter" and "Bohemian Rhapsody" have to declare losses on their financial statements. Don't be too quick to judge. These losses are due to international sales and marketing. 2. Television Rights In the last few years, the rights for television market has experienced an abrupt shift. Pay-per-view and dedicated sports channels platforms have been fighting against broadcasters who are traditional, and tech giants have also gotten into the fray. Broadcast Rights (excluding Te Mangai Paho Funding) refers to the right to broadcast the Programme(s) as part of a linear television broadcast service using satellite, terrestrial, cable or fibre transmission network to allow public display and streaming, which includes delay or simultaneous retransmission or distribution, as well as making it available to the Internet or mobile broadcasting technology. Free TV Rights (excluding Te Mangai Paho), refers to the right to broadcast the Programme(s) in a regular linear manner on any independent or public network for public viewing as well as on-demand viewing. This includes the right to communicate the Programme(s) to the general public via any internet, cable, IPTV or wireless transmission networks where subscribers of the public are required to pay a fee or subscribe. 3. Merchandising The right to sell merchandise can be significant sources of income for both distributors and studios. Disney for instance, built a huge empire by selling Mickey Mouse ears as well as other items related to movies such E.T. The sale of movie products is a great way to promote a film, as well as generating new revenue. In the movie The Goonies a scene shows an infant giving Reese's Pieces to the main character. This led to an impressive increase in sales for company making Reese's Pieces. The application of this type of placement of products in major films is essential. Also, music from well-known films such as Saturday Night Fever and Flashdance can generate substantial revenues from soundtracks and also be utilized to increase awareness of the film. 4. Streaming
youtube
Streamers will prioritize shows on television that they produce (or show on channels owned or operated by their parent company such like NBC Universal TV Productions or 21st Century Fox Television). It lets them recoup the licensing fees they have paid for the show after having paid off their production costs. In turn, it's not uncommon to see some of the same names pop up on the lists of streaming originals and acquired shows. (Source: Nielsen Streaming Content Ratings, U.S., based on minutes viewed by persons 2and over.) NBC Universal TV productions rank among the streaming shows that are watched by the most people, followed by Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, Paramount+ and Peacock. Credits to YouTube

Tooning In 16. Craig Clark part 3 of 7
Tumblr media
DL: In 1983, you worked at a Company called Tigerfly.
What was that?
CC: That was and is Arnie Wong's company. I met him at Duck Soup in 1974. Arnie now lives in Hawaii. Tigerfly was in Santa Monica. We did commercials, development on a Möbius feature, Internal Transfer, Automan VFX etc. Superman director Peter Ramsey worked theirs as well as Disney FX sup. Marlon West. Also surf artist Rick Griffin.
DL: how was the environment at the studio?
CC: Creative , hip, funky , family of westside surf artists
youtube
He sends me a teaser of an project which ultimately never got made which was the collaboration with French comic artist Moebius, Internal Transfer, which he worked as an animator
youtube
youtube
Also some Sunkist and G.I. Joe commercials he sends me, also worked on as an animator. I’m surprised the latter one wasn’t done by Sunbow.
DL: You were on The
Philadelphia Experiment as a special effects animator, how was that?
CC: Cool, that was at New World in Venice at Roger Corman Studio......later became Digital Domain. hand drawn electro fx. There was a lot of work west of Sepulveda at the time. The guy on the bed with the electro fx https://youtu.be/WAmpXDi53YQ?si=vrhhlmW1wD0-u5n9
youtube
He sends me a trailer for The Philadelphia Experiment (1984)
DL: What was My Science Project, as you were
Special effects animator.
CC: My Science project was done at Namebrand FX in Santa Monica off the lot. John Scheele produced the FX, we shot the elements at his studio. The T rex at the end was my shot sequence.... https://youtu.be/nB2ToxVtoc4?si=21cPOJqje2orJAuX
youtube
He sends me a trailer for My Science Project (1985).
A bunch of electro fx not pictured there. Boy that was some cheesy 80's synth music on there lol!
DL: Well I guess you’re the electricity guy who drew the electric on paper than scan them into the film.
CC: Exactly. I would do the same over at Boss Film on Poltiergiest 2, Big Trouble in Little China, and SolarBabies. But it was all 70mm. Huge 22 field paper, later hand inked.
DL: You were special effects director for the TV series, Misfits of Science for NBC. And How did you felt being moved to
VFX director and what role does
he or she does.
CC: That was a Namebrand again, that was my day job, the night job was at Boss film from 6pm to 1am. Universal trusted me since I did a good job on Automan. So much so I was on call for other Universal shows like Miami Vice. The fx producer were David Garber and John Green. David Garber was famous for Battlestar Galactica so he was in good standing at Universal. I still love that show. Misfits was part of the Universal power line up on Friday Nights. we got good numbers but Knight Rider was already 3 seasons in and was closer to Syndication so we lasted one season. We did some cool stuff like slitcan stretching high speed fx with the characters. When ever my hand drawn electricity came on the the ratings went up, so they called for more of it. The Producer was James Parriot who later did Grey's Anatomy, It was also Courtney Cox's first show before Friends.
youtube
He sends me a compilation of the series where one of the main characters uses his electric powers.
DL: Ah, thought it was Mac and Me but I remember that was Jennifer Aniston!
I send him a laugh out loud emoji 😂
DL: You Worked as FX Assistant Animator for Boss Film company, did you felt like that was a downgrade from your previous Title?
CC: Yeah, but it was a feature with some IlM guys so that was cool. I met Wes Takahaski who helped me get into ILM later in 1994. Boss had just finished Ghostbusters at the time.
DL: How was the environment of Boss Film company?
CC: Fun, like an fx nightclub. Music playing, free popcorn. The day crew was more serious I think, but we just had a good time and did great work. Some Disney guys were there too like Scott Santoro, who I later worked with at Amblimation in London on Fievel Goes West.
DL: That's awesome!
CC: We were nominated for a VFX Oscar on Poltergeist 2. https://youtu.be/mjhr8EdGyD0?si=RldZcwzw_9-rMM0V
youtube
He sends me the trailer for Poltergeist 2 (1986)
DL: You was assistant special effects animator for Poltergeist 2.
CC: Yes, Following up of Mauro Maresa who later worked with me on Bill and Teds Excellent Adventure.
youtube
Sends me a clip from the film featuring all the times the characters use the iconic phone booth.
I did fx on it, phone booth.
DL: You were an
Special effects animator on Big
Trouble in Little China. How was that?
CC: Yeah , I think we already went over the Boss film stuff, part of the night crew when I was working on Misfits of Science during the day. Mauro Maressa, Scott Santaro, Kevin Cachaver, Ed Coffee, Wes Takahashi all on the show. There were Ghostbusters fx model sheets sitting around ....
youtube
He sends me the climax to Big Trouble in Little China (1986)
DL: So as we talk about previously, how worked
at Dream quest Images.How was
the enviroment at the studlo before the
company got bought by Disney in 1997?
CC: Dream Quest was a small but active studio stated by 5 UCLA students in Culver City. They did Vistavision work as well as 35mm work. They got all the fx shots that Boss Film could not do since they were all 70 mm.  The first Predictor movie was done there as well as Nightmare 3. I animation directed a few commericials, Taco Ball ,Golden Grahams, etc. https://youtu.be/aFwKhPnBs3Y?si=OtpjisO0bot3et6_
youtube
He sends me a commercial for Golden Grahams which he animated on.
DL: Is that supposed to be sonny? The Golden Grahams mascot?
CC: he didn't have a name....just called him dollop. I animated it solo. no assistants.
DL: Wow! That’s impressive!
CC: Thanks. I think I was 26 with a few credits so they gave me a shot.
DL: So, personal thoughts, I
Wanna spill on you that I find it strange that Disney would go on to buy Lucasfilm, which owns ILM, which you worked for later in 1994. Why did Disney bought the studio only to shut it down and buy Lucasfilm? (That’s a question for you, I forgot to mention.)
CC: Disney is a corporation looking for quarterly profits for their shareholders. It is no longer a company run by their family as you know.
DL: Yeah, I mean they own ILM now, so they own all the great special effects in the world! But anyway, you worked on Nightmare of Elm street 3 as a special effects animator, an upgrade from storyboard artist. How was the experience?
CC: Good, hears the shot do your stuff. This time we finished the plasma animation using watered down inks that were shot and comped. We went over that as well.
DL: What’s your thoughts on the Elm Street franchise ?
CC: Surprised it lasted. I've outgrown it but my kids love it. The horror genre has exploded over the years. There was a crew fan based  meeting at Notre Dame high school in the Valley in the 90's. Kids asked questions to the old crew. I forget most of it.
DL: You worked on My Demon Lover as a special effects animator, what was that about?
CC: That was through Chris Cassady's Roto FX of America studio. Quick fx job, I remember some faces or masks exploding. I did the animation over at Chris' studio, he shot the elements over at his place. I think he sent it our for opticals some were else. The studio was a Saward in Hollywood behind the old Bob Clampett building where we did the first Simpsons series. There were lots of Film labs there , CFI, Glenn Glenn sound. Old Republic Pictures and the Columbia Cartoon studio was there a long time ago. Historical street for film. Seward st.
DL: Your claim to fame, Bill Melendez Productions, how was the environment of the studio?
CC: Wow I'm famous for that? I'd like to work on the new ones in Canada... I worked directly under Bill Melendez for a week in studio. Then I just worked at home animating four Peanuts specials for him, as well as Cathy and Frosty Returns. And later another Peantuts one in the 2000's.
DL: What was the studio like? Was it magical?
CC: It was like a little house, actually two houses together. Folks were very nice. I love working there.
DL: Ah, so I think it was the only studio besides filmation who were doing TV animation in the US. And I believe the last.
CC: maybe so, but a few months later I started working on the first season of the Simpsons down the street in totally in house. 1989. Melendez was 1988 during the last bad writers strike.
DL: Ah, did you met Bill or Lee? The other guy who owns the studio. Lee Mendelson?
CC: Never saw Lee, just Bill. Shep Menkin also did voices but I did not know it at the time. (Forgive and Forget movie 1968)
DL: Ah, ok, so your friend was also on Peanuts.
CC: This is America Charlie Brown, yes.
DL: Did he did the adults? The “waa waa” voice?
CC:no?

Another long one.
Bob Jones University has the enviable reputation of presenting one of the finest cultural series to be offered anywhere in America. Certainly no other university offers as many top quality programs featuring internationally known artists as does the opera, concert, and drama series at BJU.
This season's programs will include a grand opera, two Shakespearean productions, a chamber symphony, a concert pianist, a musical drama, a vocal duet, a folk singer, and Verdi's "Requiem.
Nine programs are included in the series, and a limited number of season subscriptions are still available at the programs and productions office for $12.50 each. Individual tickets to the one-night performances will not be available.
All programs are presented in Rodeheaver Auditorium, and curtain time is 8 p.m.
Opening the 1967-68 series Oct. 24 will be Benjamin Britten's moving musical drama, "Curlew River." featuring a company of 25 including first desk players of the Little Orchestra Society and members of the Concert Opera Association of New York. Thomas Scherman will be musical director of the company.
The famed Bob Jones University Classic Players will present Shakespeare's "As You Like It," Thanksgiving Thursday and Friday, Nov. 23 and 24. The Shakespeare repertoire group is listed by the international "Shakespeare Survey" as one of the "noteworthy classic repertoire companies" in the United States.
On Dec. 7 Guiseppe Campora -- the distinguished young leading tenor of the Metropolitan Opera and La Scala, Milan -- joins his talents with one of America's most beautiful and gifted singing actresses, Dorothy Coulter, for a delightful evening of opera arias and duets.
Following a highly successful career in Europe. Campora made his Metropolitan Opera debut in 1955 in the role of Rodolfo in "La Boheme." Miss Coulter, a soprano, also made her debut at the Met in "La Boheme." She has appeared with major opera companies in this country and in Europe and has been featured in leading roles in several productions on NBC-TV opera.
America's first permanent chamber symphony -- the Chamber Symphony of Philadelphia -- will be heard in a concert Feb. 1. The symphony, composed of 36 players, will present a program featuring masterpieces of the baroque and romantic periods as well as compositions by outstanding contemporaries, some of which have been especially commissioned.
Anshel Brusilow, conductor, made his debut as a violinist at Carnegie Hall when he was just 17. He has conducted the world renown Philadelphia Orchestra and other major symphonies. Most recently, he was guest conductor of the National Symphony in Washington, D.C.
'The fifth program of the series will feature Stephen Bishop, American-born prodigy pianist, in a recital March 4. The 26-year-old pianist appeared with the San Francisco Symphony while still in his teens.
On March 28 and 30 the Bob Jones University Opera Association will present a fully staged production of Verdi's opera, "Rigoletto." Guest soloists from the Metropolitan and other leading opera companies include Sherrill Milnes, baritone, as Rigoletto; Doris Yarick, soprano, as Gilda; John Craig, tenor, as the Duke; and Ara Berberian, bass, as Sparafucile.
The latter two singers have appeared in BJU Opera Association productions on previous occasions Mr. Berberian sang in "Faust" in 1964, and Mr. Craig was heard in "Lucia di Lammermoor" in 1965.
The artistry of singer-guitarist Kay Britten has been heralded throughout England and the United States. She will present a recital at BJU April 30. Having a high degree of artistic integrity and devotion to folk music in its original and authentic form, she brings a dimension all her own to folk music. Her unusually large repertoire includes songs in several languages, and she has a particular interest in songs of the British Isles.
A highlight of the university's commencement week activities will be the second production of the season by the BJU Classic Players -- Shakespeare's "King Lear," on May 23 and 28. Dr. Bob Jones Jr., president of the university, will portray the title role.
The ninth and final production of the season will be Verdi's "Requiem," which will be presented May 25 and 27 by the BJU Oratorio Society and Symphony Orchestra. Guest artists singing the solo roles include Walter Fredericks, Peter Harrower, and Miss Antonio Kitsopoulos.

ORLANDO, FLORIDA -- The American lottery host named John Crow announced a record breaking, billionaire jackpot prize of Mega Billions, which temporarily dubbed as Mega Millions ballooning to U$D1.58B (PHP88.9B) last Tuesday night (August 8th, 2023 -- Atlanta local time).
Tumblr media
Per exclusive results overnight on USA Mega, only one person got all 6 numbers right without a Mega-plier (shorten as the Mega Multiplier). The same state of Florida, including North Carolina got 5 numbers with the aforesaid Mega-plier but no match for the Mega Ball, and to be paid out worth U$D1M (PHP56.261M).
Tumblr media
(Hailey is watching Mega Millions / via Disney Television Animation)
The numbers are: 13, 19, 20, 32, 33 - followed by the Mega Ball is 14, and the Mega-plier ends to 2x. Billionaire jackpot prize of Mega Millions is so deadly rare because of the odds beaten -- in a ratio of 1 in 302.6 million.

Disney XD's parent company of ABC News and Mass Communication News Intern in Orlando named Hailey Banks was found out that the winning billionaire ticket was reportedly sold in Publix Food & Pharmacy store at 630 Atlantic Boulevard, Neptune Beach, Florida, United States of America (U.S.A.) with a selling bonus of the store worth U$D100k (PHP5.641M).

While a millionaire bettor however, in a same state without a Mega Ball and including the Mega-plier strikes a little rich at a small store of Kwik Stop (also has a selling bonus of U$D1k or PHP56,410), which located at 830 Columbus Parkway, Hollywood, the said state (but not for California in a different city name). Both of these locations are near Jacksonville and Fort Lauderdale.
The winning bettor can choose to have the said billionaire amount to be fully paid in 30 annual installments within the next 3 decades by 2053 or take a one-time lump-sum of U$D783.3M (PHP44.1B), which is subject to federal taxes in America.
Disney XD News was learned that it was a largest billionaire jackpot in history since late-March 2018, 2 years before the Coronavirus Disease-19 (CoViD-19) pandemic in the United States of America (U.S.A.). The American Lottery ranked to #3 spot, ahead of Edwin Castro's win at the Joe's Service Service in Altadena, California for Powerball at #1 in November 2022.

First Coast News reporter named Tristan Hardy urgently advised to a Floridan lottery billionaire: "If you're the winner, take this into consideration. You don't have to claim it now, unless you have 6 months to make it happen. And if you don't have to quit your daytime job as well, don't quit it until you get the money if you know what I mean", Hardy said.
Both bettors in Florida have not yet come forward until their own decision was made back-to-back. The upcoming press conference is potentially on its way sooner before the name has yet to be called out, with the exception of the anonymous bettor role.
It is legal to remain anonymous in several states including Florida within few to several months after lottery drawings were shown on national TV. Mega Millions resets to U$D20M (PHP1.125B) on Friday night (August 11th, 2023 at 11pm).
Mega Millions is played in 45 states including Washington, District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands excluding Alabama, Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada and Utah. Here in the Philippines and around the world, players can purchase their lottery tickets exclusively through TheLotter website, with the exclusive partnership and official media broadcaster of DZKB-TV 9's CNN Philippines: Manila.
Miko Kubota and Rhayniel Saldasal Calimpong have independently contributed this news report.

*2nd UPDATE (August 9th, 2023 at 10:25pm -- Orlando local time): It seems that the press conference on both winners in Florida (excluding North Carolina) have not yet come forward as we furtherly confirmed exclusively to Disney XD News. Lottery winners in the said state needs more time to find an expert on how they can spend or invest that billionaire amount from Mega Billions.

Activate USA Network on Roku, Amazon Fire TV, and Apple TV [Updated 2022]

Let's go over everything you'll need to get USA Network on your streaming device and start watching episodes and movies.
Tumblr media
About USA Network
The NBCUniversal Television and Streaming subsidiary of Comcast's NBCUniversal owns USA Network (or simply USA). It is distributed by NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment. It debuted in 1977 as Madison Square Garden Sports Network, one of the first national sports cable television networks, before being relaunched on April 9, 1980, under its current name. Since then, USA has progressively grown in prominence thanks to its own content, a long-standing collaboration with WWE, and, for many years, limited sports programming, which grew dramatically in 2022 after NBCSN was shuttered.
As of September 2018, USA Network was commercially available to around 90.4 million households in the United States (98 percent of pay television households).
In a multibillion-dollar deal in 2003, General Electric agreed to merge NBC and its subsidiaries with Vivendi Universal's North American filmed entertainment holdings, including Universal Pictures and Universal Television Group, and rename the resulting firm NBC Universal. GE kept an 80% ownership stake in the new corporation, while Vivendi kept a 20% stake. In 2004, NBC Universal took over ownership of the USA and its sister cable stations (excluding Newsworld International). The 4400, a science fiction series, began in the United States that year.
With its original programming, USA Network has established a viewership foothold; this began in the 1990s with initial hits like Silk Stalkings and La Femme Nikita, and was gradually followed over the next two decades by series like Monk, Psych, Shooter, White Collar, Mr. Robot, Suits, Burn Notice, and Royal Pains.
