“If you had the choice, do you think you’d ever do it?” You asked one day, the two of you laying on your bed, your head on his chest with his fingers running through your hair.

“Do what?” Donghyuck asked, shifting so the two of you were eye to eye. You rested your hand on his chest, right above his heart. It didn’t beat anymore, but it was still the only way he’d be able to die — weird, right?

“Be human again.”

He doesn’t answer for a long while before his brown eyes connect with yours and softly whispered, “Would you want me to?”

“This isn’t about what I want,” you whispered back, not really knowing why you two were whispering. “It’s about what you want.”

“I want what you want, though,” he said and sat up, prompting you to sit up with him.

“I want you to choose for yourself,” you shook your head.

Donghyuck stared at you for a few moments before saying, “I’ll do it for you, yes. If it means I get to be with you, yes..” He then smiled sadly, “But there is no cure for vampirism, and you will grow old and have a family and children and a wonderful life without me.

You opened your mouth to respond but he shook his head and leaned forward, placing a hard kiss on your mouth, silently begging you to let the topic go.

Four months later, here you are as you stare at the so called cure. Donghyuck sits across from you on the bed as you sit on your desk chair, feet pulled up to your chest.

You laugh, shaking your head at him, “You don’t,” you hold up your hand to stop him from continuing, “I know you don’t. You seem to forget that I know you better than you do yourself, probably.” You open your fist and lay your palm out flat, staring at the clear liquid inside of the bottle, “You love being a vampire, you love witnessing the new eras and inventions and the super speed and the strength, you love travelling.”

You stop talking for a second before inhaling, “I see the way you stare at those old photographs in the box, I see the way your eyes are hungry for adventure and meeting new people and experiencing new things. You can’t do that if you’re a little old fragile, weak human, like me.”

“I’m not finished,” you cut him off almost sharply, “You can not do any of that if you’re like me, you do not want to have to go to school again and have to pay for things instead of just compelling them.” Your eyesight gets blurry, and you can barely see Donghyuck, “I want you with me, forever and ever. “I know,” your hand tightens around the cure.

“I love you,” he says.

A/N: hellow anon and thank you for requesting a mafia Taeyong with the medic student 🥹 it's been a year since I wrote that fic and a year plus since I became an NCTzen because of Taeyong. Till this day, I am amazed and surprised by the amount of people that found my blog and like my work T^T I hope that I can create more fics and interact with a lot more czennies in the future!

Anyways, onto the what y'all want to actually read, the Taeyong fic ehehehehe

Summary: after that whole incident, Taeyong mainly assessed you (the student) as the team's medic, but doesn’t really limit her to not help with the mission and such; but mainly reminded you that unless absolutely necessary, you shouldn’t go to the main battle. But when there was a mole in your team and you paid the price, Taeyong's decided to give a lesson to the academy to why he is their leader

[1:09 AM] - ever since the incident that happened where you were practically attacked by some of the students, Taeyong made sure to keep a tight watch on the other students, also making sure that his main team were always on watch. In addition, ever since he promoted you to be part of his main team, Taeyong assigned you to be the medic of your team with at least 2 of his main members leading the team.

It wasn't that Taeyong didn't trust you. It was that Taeyong wanted you to be safe. Especially after that incident, it was clear to everyone, mainly the main NCT members that you were Taeyong's girl and if anything were to happen to you, well, let's just say Taeyong wouldn't be too happy.

Like that time you came back with a scar on your cheek, Taeyong questioned the hell out of Johnny and Hendery who were in charge of the team. And by the end of the meeting, both Johnny and Hendery practically begged you to try and talk Taeyong out of punishing them.

Luckily, you managed to talk to Taeyong and practically "scolded" him for being mean to his own members, telling him off otherwise you wouldn't want to talk to him and Taeyong immediately switched to Bubu mode and begged for you to forgive him and he also gave the excuse that he doesn't want you to get anymore trauma than the ones you already have; which is honestly a sweet thought from him.

It took several months of talking to Taeyong, directly being under him and going on missions with him to convince him to let you lead your own team, just for an expedition.

"Please!! It's been half a year already. I'm completely fine!! Just a small expedition. I promise that I'll immediately contact you if anything happens. Promise!!" you pleaded as you were helping Taeyong go through some new assignments/missions in his office

"I know you won't make rash decisions but I'm still worried (Y/N). But, I do however have a small mission for you. Just a little expedition. I just need you and your team to check this hospital nearby. Apparently, there has been news that an illegal drug is going around in that hospital. Check it out and bring back a sample of it" Taeyong instructed going around his desk and sat on his desk, leaning forward to you

"Yess!! Will do boss!!" you exclaimed, doing little jumps, making Taeyong chuckle

"Stop calling me boss, I thought I told you that since that day. But anyways, be careful alright. If anything, just contact me. Don't even try to go through anything on your own; especially when I'm not assigning any of the other guys with you because they all have missions, alright?" Taeyong mentioned, pulling you so that you were in between his legs as he kissed your temple

"I'll be fine. I promise" you softly replied, but in all honesty, Taeyong was secretly worried and had a bad feeling that something might go wrong

During the day of the expedition, Taeyong was still able to send you and your team off, telling everyone to always be on guard and should any of them notice something is off, they should immediately contact headquarters. But for some reason, Taeyong kept his eyes on a certain member of the team. because that person has been checking on their gear far too much.

After bidding you and your team farewell, Taeyong had Haechan keep tabs in the hospital that you and your team went to, just to make sure of course. Every now and then, Taeyong would look to see how you and your team were doing. It was all fine up until you and your team were about to leave.

Taeyong just left to get some paperwork and came back to see the tab he opened was all black. Without thinking, Taeyong called his members, some to restore the camera while others to go to the actual site along with him.

Unfortunately, when Taeyong arrived at the scene, he was too late. While the hospital and everyone in the building was generally alright, one of the storage rooms was completely non-existent anymore.

"Search the entire place, find something!" Taeyong commanded, his team immediately dispersed

As Taeyong himself was looking around, he took his phone out, trying to call you but instead of a "no answer", he heard your ring tone somewhere, making his heart stop. Taeyong rushed to where he heard your phone, praying that you were here and alive but unfortunately, he only found your phone but you and your team were nowhere to be found.

It wasn't until he got a call from Taeil, saying that it was an ambush, that someone within your team was actually a mole working for an opposing gang which angered Taeyong. Taeyong asked Taeil if he got any sort of details and he said that the opposing leader wanted to have some sort of deal with Taeyong.

Taeyong then called an emergency meeting but only with his main members, being NCT 127, DREAM and WayV. Trying to figure out a plan to get you and your team members back but because Taeyong's mind was practically everywhere, all he could think of is how you are most likely to be tortured and all, Taeyong was starting to make rash decisions. Bombing the entire place, killing everyone and such. All he could see was red. And that's why he has Doyoung and Johnny with him to make sure that they have a well thought out plan.

It took time but once they found you and your team's location, Taeyong brought his main members to rescue you and your team. It didn't take long for his team to take out all the weak security and infiltrate the opposing gang's base. However, it took some time to actually find where you and your team were.

Luckily, some of the DREAM members found where your team were. However, they mentioned that the opposing gang took you away to be tortured since the mole didn't actually get any important information about NCT. Hearing this, Taeyong was more than ready to tear every single last one of the opposing gang with his own fingers.

Taeyong instructed Renjun, Haechan, Chenle, Yangyang, Kun, Jungwoo, Taeil and Doyoung to get your team out of here and back to the base while the rest of them split up to cover the area, to make sure that if any of the opposing enemies flee the base, the wouldn't be able to flee too far away.

"If any of them suddenly leave this place, shoot them. I don't care if they're dead or alive. Johnny, Jaehyun, Jeno, Jaemin, you four back me up while the rest cover all the grounds" Taeyong instructed as his members immediately made their move

Once Taeyong and the other 4 barged into the final room, he saw that you were held by the neck with the leader of the opposing gang and 3 other men surrounding you both. But what triggered Taeyong the most was the amount of physical abuse you had to endure all because he overlooked his own gut.

But Taeyong always had a backup plan. Ever since that incident, he asked his members to develop a special weapon that would help any member that might have been captured. With what little strength you had left, you signalled to Taeyong and the other members where the weapon was and not long, Taeyong triggered the weapon and his members quickly finishing the job whilst he gets you to safety.

After they were done with the opposing gang's base, Taeyong made sure that his members were all fine and had them burn the enemy's base to ashes before heading back to their own base.

Taeyong immediately handed you to Xiaojun and Renjun to get you treated. He also had Jeno, Jaemin, Sungchan, Shotaro and Jisung guard the operation room you were in whilst his members gather all of the students of the academy to the hall and other members brought the enemy and mole as well.

At the hall, all of the students were confused as to why they were called until they saw the main NCT members arrive at the hall, all still in their uniform, some members brought the enemy and mole, and chained them up in the centre of the hall, awaiting their leader's further instructions.

"You all have never had a class with me, did you? Well, let’s have a special class, shall we? All of you better watch and hear carefully. I don't like to repeat myself” Taeyong stated, not even changed out of his uniform

“Rule #1. And the most important rule. Once you’re in, you’ve practically vowed for the whole academy and team. So. (scratch) Don’t any of you. Fucking. Dare. Betray. Us” Taeyong growled, hitting the mole with his bat

“Rule #2. Another important rule. Just as important as rule #1. Mark this down. All of you. DON’T. YOU. FUCKING. DARE. TOUCH. WHAT. IS. MINE.” Taeyong snapped, stabbing every enemy every time he pause per word

The loud snap of the chopsticks made Beomgyu’s head turn to you uneasily, finding you staring off in the distance at something, eyes narrowed. He glanced from your clenched fist to the broken chopsticks to following your gaze, scoffing when he saw your ex-boyfriend with his new ‘friend’ walking inside Kwangya.

“Oh, you’re kidding,” he complained, staring at the two as they held hands, standing in front of Minjeong, the current hostess and one of your best friend’s. The brunette glanced between the two in disbelief before forcing a smile at the two and saying something.

“Oh, he has some fucking nerve,” you gritted through your teeth. Jeongin approached the table, sitting next to you and taking the broken chopsticks out of your hand as you continued to stare daggers into Chenle. If looks could kill, he’d be dead. “I was the one who showed him Kwangya! This was our place.”

“What a fucking loser,” Beomgyu snorted, watching as Minjeong turned to direct them to their booth, making short, wide-eyed eye contact with you three. You threw your hands up in disbelief at her as Beomgyu mouthed for her to trip Chenle.

Jeongin shook his head and pulled your attention to him, “Maybe Jiho was the one to pick the place.”

You scowled, “That’s his date’s name? Even if it was, he should’ve said no and picked something else.” You turned your head back to the couple, watching Minjeong slap their menus down on the table harshly. The two flinched slightly, Chenle looking slightly guilty while Jiho looked confused.

“I hate men,” you murmur after a moment of watching them, slowly turning to your food. You didn’t feel hungry anymore, pushing around the food with Jeongin’s chopsticks. “They suck.”

“Preach,” Ryujin commented, overhearing your comment on her way to another table.

“Uptown girl, she’s been living in her uptown world,” two voices belted out simultaneously, your head practically detaching from your neck at the sound of the familiar song and voice. Yet again, here was your ex-boyfriend with his … whatever, singing your song. You were the one who showed it to Chenle!

“Wow, the audacity of men,” Chaeryeong scoffed as she heard them, too. The two were in the music room, the same room you and your friends were going to go in a second ago, with Chenle playing the familiar tune of Uptown Girl on the piano to Jiho.

“Why I oughta—” As you started to walk towards the music room, Jeongin’s hand caught yours. When your eyes connected, he shook his head and you huffed, standing next to him again.

“He’s not even worth it,” Minjeong crossed her arms over her chest, eyeing him through the small window with disgust. “So unoriginal.”

“I hate him,” you seethed, feeling your nails dig into the palm of your hand when you noticed that Jiho was wearing his gray hoodie. You used to wear that damn hoodie he loved so much. It was practically yours, too. You suddenly wish you didn’t give it back after your break up. “I bet he tells Jiho he loves them in between the chorus and the verse. Ugh!” You felt a flood of emotions hit you all at once, similar to how it had been happening since your break up three weeks ago. “I’ll see you guys later.”

“Y/N, wait—” Minjeong tried to stop you but you waved her off, ignoring your friends’ looks.

You couldn’t believe that Chenle would use your couple things with another person. But it seemed like a lot of things were being revealed when you were no use for him anymore. Your heart clenched as you forced back an onset of tears and slowed your pace back to your dorm.

You looked up, and there he was. Chenle’s best friend, Park Jisung. With no Chenle in sight, and none of your friends to stop you, you stormed up to the boy angrily, knowing you would regret this but could take care too much in the moment.

“Park Jisung!” The boy looked up in surprise, an awkward look falling on his face when he saw it was you.

Jisung chuckled nervously, standing up straight and rubbing the back of his neck, “Hey, what’s up?”

“What the hell does your little bitch of a friend—” He blinked. “—think he’s doing?! Taking Jiho to my cafe, singing Uptown Girl with them, giving them my hoodie?! What’s wrong with him?”

“Everything,” Jisung spoke in amusement, “And I’m pretty sure you don’t own Kwangya or Uptown Girl. Or the hoodie that’s actually Chenle’s, and he loves that hoodie like a serious alarmingly amount. I’m thinking about forcing him to go to therapy.”

“Good, therapy would be fucking great for an asshole like him! Maybe he and his therapist can dig in that deep, soulless, heartless heart of his and figure out why he’s such an unoriginal asshole,” you smiled sarcastically at the taller boy. He stared at you in shock. “And then, maybe, just maybe, all three of you can go suck a dick and fall off a cliff!”

Without waiting for a reply, you turned abruptly and stumbled back slightly when you almost walked into someone. Your anger only grew when you saw the boy you were just talking about, staring at you in shock and … sadness? No. He didn’t deserve to be sad. You did.

You scoffed, glaring at him, “What? Are you following me now? Hope Jiho likes my sloppy seconds!” You stormed off in the opposite direction, not even realizing that you were heading away from your dorm.

“He loves me, he loves me not,” you murmured to yourself as you plucked off the wilting petals of a Baby’s Breath. “He loves me, he loves me … not.” You faltered. There were no more petals. You threw the flowerless stem to the ground, stomping on it for good measure like it was Chenle. “Jerk.”

“Y/N.”

You jumped, turning swiftly even though you knew who it was by his voice, “My God, Chenle. You’re really a stalker nowadays, aren't you?” You scoffed, crossing your arms over your chest. You don’t know when the anger started to fade away and turn into hurt. You just knew it hurt like hell to see him right now when he wasn’t yours and was recreating your memories with another person. “What the fuck do you want now? Haven’t you done enough?”

It was a lot easier to be angrier at someone than it was to say you were hurt.

Chenle sighed, “I deserve that.” Yeah, you do, asshole, you wanted to say, but he continued before you could open your mouth. “I just … I wanted to come and say I’m sorry.”

When he didn’t continue, your eyebrows rose as your foot tapped impatiently, “Do you even know what you’re supposed to be sorry for?” He probably didn’t. He usually never did because he thought he could do no wrong.

“Breaking your heart,” he said like it was nothing. “Stealing our old dates, our songs … Letting Jiho wear your jacket.”

“It’s not my jacket, it’s yours,” you replied offhandedly, Jisung having made you realize that technically it was. You paused, thinking of something and then failed to hide a smirk. “And you know what, Chenle? I forgive you.”

“What?” Chenle’s eyes comically bulged out of his head. He must’ve thought it would’ve been harder.

You shrugged, “Yeah. I mean … You can continue stealing our old dates, our songs, you can do everything we used to do with Jiho. Hell, even watch reruns of Glee with them, for all I care!” Your smile became devilish as you took a step towards him, his face faltering at your words. He didn’t expect any of this— you held grudges, just like he did. That’s part of the reason why you two broke up.

“What?” His voice cracked in a way that was once cute, but now you just wanted to laugh maliciously at it.

“Because … Every time you do,” your hand raised slowly, lifting a finger to caress his cheek lightly. He flinched at your touch, not expecting it, before slowly sinking into it. You forced yourself to not sink into it, either. “You’ll think of me. Jiho’ll think it’s special, all for them— when, really, it’s only special because of me. You’ll look them in the eyes, touch them, and wish it was me. You’ll hear my voice when they say something, you’ll see me in every damn thing around you and you’ll realize … you just lost the best damn thing to ever happen to you.”

Your hand dropped back to your side, stepping away from your ex-boyfriend and smiled again. “That’s why I’m OK with forgiving you. Because you’ll suffer for the rest of your life, wondering what could have been. And that’s good enough for me.”

Chenle stared at you in a mix of shock and hurt. Your heart pumped harshly in your chest, echoing in your ears and giving you away. You hoped he couldn’t hear it.

“Y/N …” He started but you shook your head, stopping him from speaking any more.

“You’re going to have the life you deserve, Chenle,” you said lastly. You turned and walked away as calmly as you could from him, even though your heart was beating erratically and your head was yelling at you for saying all those things to him.

You only believed in half of your words, you didn’t forgive him, but you were OK with him suffering without you as you suffered without him, too. It would be a two-way street. Your trembling fingers reached for your phone in your pocket, unlocking it and texting a message to the group chat.

YOU: just told chenle off lol. im done with him for good.

Your phone exploded with messages instantly.

The corner of your lips weakly twitched up, letting out a tearful laugh as you realized what you’ve done. You felt an odd sense of relief as a tear ran down your cheek, a flow of others following seconds later.

Amongst the almost indestructible cardboard beds that were rumored to prevent athlete contact and the condom supply they supposedly cannot use, the message the Olympic organizers tried to send were mixed. Many athletes saw this as a challenge, one athlete being Team Korea’s one and only, John Suh. The famed swimmer was ready and willing to take on this challenge but he couldn’t do it alone. He needed a partner for it and you—best friend, fellow teammate, and competitive swimmer—were the perfect match.
