My backstory for Isaac

Needed to write a backstory for Isaac for the Halloween Maze fic, so here it is. It's a little cliche, but Isaac reminds me of an anime rival, all smug and unfriendly but deep down inside he has a tragic history and a heart of gold, and it's up to the protagonist to teach him to enjoy life again through the power of friendship. So this is exactly the type of backstory he gets.

Sorry in advance for anyone that likes him, I might have traumatized him a little too much.

- lived in a small village close to Castle Village with his parents and younger brother

- the corruption in the Badlands was still stable at that point and no one was expecting for it to suddenly grow past it's original boundaries

- Isaac, 15 at the time, was coming back to the village after doing some errands in a neighbouring community

- saw something big moving in some bushes but dismissed it as some farm animal and ignored it

- later when he was in the yard he heard screaming and saw a bunch of skeletons running down the road

- ran inside the house and alerted his parents

- they all barricaded themselves inside the house but monsters were starting to break through the door

- parents told him to grab his younger brother and protect him

- they helped him and his brother slip through a back window but didn't had time to leave with them

- as Isaac and his brother were running another group of monsters spotted and attacked them

- Isaac got slashed in the face and his brother got badly hurt (broken hip and internal damage)

- suddenly something distracts the monsters attention (adventurers finally reached the area to kill the monsters, but Isaac didn't knew that at the time)

- they managed to hide somewhere (under a shed?), where Isaac had to watch his brother's health get worse and worse

- they were eventually found by the adventurers after a few hours, but his brother was in critical state at that point

- they were sent to a hospital and left there for surgery and rest

- after Isaac woke up someone from the government (cop, social worker, guild representative?) visited him in the hospital to ask him questions and explain the situation

- his parents have been killed, and so did most of the villagers, he was one of the few survivors

- his brother was alive but badly hurt, and was recovering after surgery

- it took a long while for his brother to wake up and get out of the hospital, and he never recovered fully from his injuries

- they still technically live together in Castle Village, but Isaac spends most of his time at the guild

- Isaac still feels like the tragedy is his fault, that if he would have been more alert and realize that monsters were gathering outside the village the tragedy wouldn't have happened

- he also feels guilty for his brother's health and that he failed to protect him

- he joined the guild out of guilt, to try and prevent this type of tragedy from happening to others

- he secretly feels guilty every time some colleague or civilian gets hurt, feeling like he failed to protect that person the same way he failed to protect his brother

- hates monsters and wants to see them all exterminated

- the village was raised off the face of the earth, swallowed by the corruption not long after the monster attack

Severen during your period - Part 1

-If for some reason you've been with the Hooker clan for some time but you haven't been bled yet, the unavoidable will eventually happen.

Maybe Severen has got it bad for you, and they want to make sure you're the right fit for the clan before turning you. Not that anything could change Sev's mind, but that's beyond the point. Just humor me with this, ok 👀

-One day, you start feeling that familiar sensation. Your mood changes, you feel bloated, your tits feel heavier, bigger and tender. I always experience depressive feelings too, so let's go with that. Your mood sours, you don't feel pretty. -But the harm is done. The mood has set in, and it's taken you to a dark place. The strangeness of the situation, of travelling with the clan and being an accessory to serial murder (you've lost the count of their victims since you've been with them at this point) is too much. You cry. You start hiding from him a bit, trying to spend time alone. This goes on for a couple of days, and Severen is actually really worried that Jesse will force him to do something radical about it. And he really, really wants to keep you.

-One day, something happens. Maybe he made a hurtful comment about you, or he muttered something lustfully about another guy or woman he had seen... And you snap. You shout at him, crying, upset at yourself for falling so hard for him. For allowing this to happen, for him to just show up and mess up your life like that.

-He just stays there, wide eyed... Looking at you just falling apart in front of him. And then, he notices it. The rich, coppery smell. Mixed with your own smell, your sweat, your pheromones.

Your period.

Honestly, thinking on it and my headcanons for Super Sonic, I've realized that he basically delivers constant AOE damage to enemies who are fueled by negative energies and emotions.

when it comes to black teas, dany is often torn between lemon and hibiscus—separately or mixed together, depending on her mood! she likes the tartness of the lemon and that earthy sweetness of hibiscus. for iced green teas, she has a preference for adding mint. 

i should note that dany isn’t particularly selective due to her experiences with food insecurity; usually, she is just grateful to have enough food to whet her appetite and to know that there is steady access to sustenance. regarding flavor profiles that excite her, though, she favors the rich, robust, and complex! she is drawn to flavors that make her toes curl and dance upon her tongue! these are the flavors that breathe life, that produce sparks in one's mind, and paint vibrancy in one's heart. it is easy to tell when daenerys likes a dish because her eyes will widen and soften and grow a bit hazy as she gives herself over to the flavors, and any tension in her body seems to melt away. she also tends to eat slowly, which is a holdover from her experiences with food insecurity—when she learned to eat slowly in attempts to both stave her hunger and savor/save whatever food she did have access to.

she loves tangy/sour things, like, she will just sink her teeth into a slice of lemon or lime! the tanginess is enough for her. she doesn't need to accompany that sort of flavor with anything (and there is a nostalgic piece that goes along with it, so sometimes she will literally just eat a slice of lemon because it reminds her of the tree outside her window at the house with the red door).

mixing the sweet with the savory also excites her! her eyes always sparkle a bit in delight when honeyed meats, particularly honeyed lamb and honeyed duck with crispy skin, are placed before her! she is also a fan of things like cinnamon-spiced meats and bacon-wrapped dates (oh, especially bacon-wrapped dates, which she will often request from the kitchens when she wants a more substantial snack!). she savors the way her mouth feels as she deciphers the opposing notes.

of course, she is also a massive lover of spicy foods, enjoying the sensation of her tongue and cheeks tingling and heating against the peppers and spices: jalapeño, habanero, poblano, ghost, chile, cayenne, peppercorn, chile powder, ginger, everything. in fact, her fondness for spice is noted in her canon, and it's implied that her love of spicy and spicy-sweet foods is so great that she will more often than not lean into appeasing that craving. hizdahr tried poisoning her with honeyed and spiced locusts, and he seemed shocked, angered, and annoyed that she refused to eat them. god, she would love szechuan food and the numbing effect of the peppers and spices.

she does have a sweet tooth, particularly for sweets that have something a little extra to them! so, things like tangy lemon cakes, burnt honey and tea cakes, whipped goat or whipped sheep’s cheese drizzled with honey, nuts tossed in honey and salt, chocolate treats with salt, and, of course, her favorite: honeyed figs. there is a definite bias towards honey.

she just cannot stand a bland, flavorless food. even when she’s eating greens or anything leafy, she prefers that there be something tangy added to interest her tongue.

Victor (Viktor!) sometimes creeps around a Hungarian bakery for the Free Childhood Nostalgia Smells

Oh absolutely, 120% accurate. Viktor can't help it. No matter how much of them they try to cut off and throw away to make room for their new purpose, they can't help themself when their path crosses this one little hole-in-the-wall, family owned Hungarian bakery. Every time, without fail, they let themself be drowned by all the good smells and memories of the simpler, if 'unenlightened' times.

While they usually stay hiding out back or in the alley where they can't be seen, occasionally they've been bold enough to lean against the wall near the front door like a creeping vine just so they can get a better smell of it: the kürtőskalács, the pogácsa, the array of tortes and cakes, all those little threads of memories keeping that clinging vestige of their old self holding on. Maybe one day it'll finally fall off for good, they think, but for now it's still there.

Once, the owner found a distressingly hand-shaped smear of something red on the glass door of the display, and a single slice of Dobos torte gone missing. Perhaps it's for the best that he never quite caught whoever it was...
