Naruto Characters Accidentally Calling their Girlfriend their Wife

MR KRABSSSS I HAVE AN IDEAAA

Fem reader (or if you want to be called wife)

Characters: Naruto, Sasuke, Shino, Kiba, Shikamaru, Choji, Neji, Rock Lee, Kankuro, and Gaara.

Naruto Uzumaki

He’s talking to some new people and enthusiastically pulls you to his side, a large smile on his face, and he says “This is my wife! Y/N!”

You can’t hide your shock, not fully at least. He’s never called you his wife before. I mean, he’s said things like “you’ll be my future wife, right?” As he giggles or something.

But you are in a state of shock that he introduced you that way.

Nonetheless, you’re happy.

If the person makes a comment about how young or cute you two are for a married couple, he’d realize. Likely, he’d respond a little oddly, stuttering, but recovers and just full sends with the claim you’re his wife.

Sasuke Uchiha

If he’s with you, you’re gonna be his wife anyways. He didn’t get with you until he was sure of that, because it took him a long time to realize he felt that way anyways.

So he calls you his wife with full confidence, before realizing his mistake. However, he doesn’t care too much to correct himself or anything.

Because you are gonna marry him right? (He’s actually really nervous to propose, but he won’t admit that.)

People would probably just believe him immediately considering just how serious he is about you to even be with you.

When you confront him about it later, he’ll ask you if that was okay, explain it was a mistake, but he’ll probably comment on how he’s dating to marry anyways so… you might as well be his wife.

You can probably expect a proposal soon.

Shino Aburame

I can’t fully see this happening tbh. However, let’s say that it does.

He’d probably over explain himself to the person he referred of you as his wife too.

Not that he doesn’t want you as his wife, but you haven’t said you’ll be his wife yet. So he can’t call you his wife. That’s how he sees it.

He’ll probably think he messed up and upset you, so you’ll have to explain it was cute.

Once you explain to him, he’ll see your point. Maybe with some reluctance to lighten up on himself.

He’ll be happy you want to be seen as his wife though.

Kiba Inuzuka

Realized his mistake, but he could not be bothered.

He will keep on as if there is no mistake. As if you are legally married.

He’ll be upset if you correct him in front of people.

It’ll turn into a bit of an argument if you correct him in any way other than sweetly.

Because what the big deal???

If you leave it alone, and talk to him later, now he’s nervous and stuttering. But he’ll likely comment on how he knows you want to marry him so you might as well be called his wife.

Shikamaru Nara

Immediately realizing what slipped out his mouth.

Does he really want you to be his wife? Well, of course he does. But that’s a lot for him to accidentally spill out to some strangers you’re both meeting.

They don’t know he made a mistake, because you roll with it.

Later, he’ll try to avoid talking about it, but if you bring it up, he’ll say it was a mistake, don’t take it so seriously.

If you seem down about his underwhelming response, he’ll likely have an actual talk about his future with you to reassure you that he was just being an idiot when he said that.

Choji Akimichi

He forgot you’re not his wife.

I think Choji would just love you so much that he would simply treat you like a wife. To the point he forgets, you’re not his wife.

If you comment on it, he’ll think about it and probably be like ohhhh right.

He’ll apologize, but more than likely you’ll just say it was cute.

I can see him calling you wifey.

But if he’s gonna call you that, he’s gotta get you that ring. He’s planning on it as yall speak.

Neji Hyuga

You two are waiting a while before calling it official. Plans of marriage are far off.

He’s a little too traditional to jump at marriage quickly.

So when he accidentally calls you his wife, it was to Hiashi. He went pale. Paler than usual.

Later, depending on how exactly that went, he’ll probably be in his head.

Let’s assume for this though, that Hiashi approves of you completely.

Hiashi made a comment, rather he meant it badly or not, Neji will take it the wrong way. Realize he jumped too far.

You’ll have to tell him you find it cute, and rather his uncle approves of you two or not, you’ll be his wife someday :)

Rock Lee

It COULD be an honest mistake.

But let’s be honest,

It’s Lee.

He calls you his wife to your face, to other people, hell, he’d shout it from the roof tops.

So it’s not an accident. He meant it. He will one day make you his wife, so why would he not call you his wife now!

If you have any reserves about being called his wife before actual marriage, he will pout and be upset. He won’t understand.

But, once that’s over, he’s crying and begging for forgiveness.

Please tell him it’s cute that he wants to marry you, even if you do want to have a talk with him about not assuming roles you don’t officially have.

Gaara

HE CALLED YOU HIS WIFE IN FRONT OF A CROWD. so now he’s blushing.

He might correct his mistake, might not. Depends.

He’s a confident speaker, but that threw him off a little bit.

Likely you were a strong shinobi or something and he was trying to give you credit where it’s due, but it didn’t go as planned.

When you too are alone later, you’ll bring it up likely.

If you tell him you thought it was cute or sweet, he’ll turn bright red like his hair.

He likely won’t go on calling you his wife or anything. Maybe in private.

But he’s not ashamed of it. After all, he’s strongly considering marriage.

Kankuro

Called you his wife to his siblings while you were over for dinner.

Temari is not letting him live it down.

“Hey, I think your wife is trying to get your attention.” “I don’t know, maybe ask your wife?” “What about your wife?” From then on out.

He’s frustrated because it was a mistake, BUTTTT honestly, eventually he’ll make some snarky comment about how at least he’s closer to marriage than she is. Then he probably harps on Shikamaru a little bit in defense for his own comment.

(He approves of Shikamaru tho, if he’s being real. He just thinks it’s a little funny)

As long as this is before a certain point.

He decides to call you his wife to your face.

He’ll call you that to tease you now.

Sasuke Uchiha : He was doing the dishes. He turned around when he felt you entering the kitchen. He slightly side eyed the bouquet you were holding delicately in your hands “What is that for ?” But you extended it towards him “It’s for you” you beamed. “You can set them there” he said pointing to the kitchen table, a hint of pink appearing on his cheeks. You knew he liked it even if he struggled to express it. Though he started to feel remorse for not acknowledging your present properly and with the due happiness it deserved. so the next day he made himself go to the flower shop and bought you one as well. Yes, the seller was shocked to see the Sasuke Uchiha come to their shop, and ask for help on a flower arrangement with a cold, distant tone. When he gave them to you still with a hint of pink on his cheeks, he saw the glint in your eyes and it made everything better.

Naruto Uzumaki : Flowers ?!? NO WAY ?!? He is just so excited. Seriously you could have given him some grass he would have been genuinely happy as it’s from you. He engulfs you in a bone crushing hug “Aaaah Y/n thank you thank you thank you !!” he screams. You’re so pleased to see this glint of pure joy in his eyes. He wants to know everything about them. He is so eager to put them in a pot. You help him. Unfortunately one dies in the process. So Here you are 45 later walking in the forest looking for THE perfect flower to add to the other. Well his tummy ended up having the better of him and you guys finished your stroll in the forest at Ichiraku’s. As if this could have ended in another way.

Itachi Uchiha : He was cooking when you entered your house. He knew you were going straight to him as he felt your aura approaching him “Hello my Love. Did you enjoy your day ?” Instead of answering him you just handed him the bouquet a huge smile plastered on your face. Which was quickly reciprocated on his own face “Thank you Precious this means a lot” he said carefully cradling the flowers against his chest. He extended a hand to tuck a strand of hair behind your ear as he left a white flower there “They are almost as beautiful as you. Almost” his voice was soft as he gazed into your eyes, silently asking permission to kiss you. Which you granted directly with a nod. He set a gentle hand on your cheek and pulled you closer to him eager to taste your lips once again. He peppered your lips with soft kisses expressing the depth of his love and longing for you. The next day he too was going to surprise you, with the velvety box he brought a week ago and safely tucked in his drawer.

Sai : Bro is so goofy. When you extended the bouquet towards him his face changed to a sad expression “I’m sorry for your loss” Your eyes widened “Sai my love no one died. They’re for you” Now it was the turn of his eyes to widen “Ooooh I see… thank you ?” he said. He didn’t really know how to act, as he never was gifted in this way. Though he couldn’t help the fireworks in his heart as you handed them in his hands. He put them against his heart “I’ll cherish them. Let me just- no here. Come here and hold them. I’m going to draw you” You complied happily and let him guide you into the pose he had in mind.

Neji Hyuga : When you handed him the flowers he looked at you with a surprised look. He was the man so why are you giving him the flowers ? Wasn’t it supposed to be the other way around ? Or maybe you had enough waiting for him to gift you so you did this to wake him up ? “Sunshine just take them. It’s from the bottom of my heart. I love you” He smiled softly at your words as he took the bouquet. Despite his reserved nature he took a step towards you and engulfed you in a gentle embrace, before giving a kiss to your neck “Thank you Y/n. I’ll do them honor and take good care of them” he stated, still holding you. You gave him a big smile. Even it was just flowers you were immensely happy that he wanted to cherish them like this.

Rock Lee : You don’t even have time to give them to him. The moment he understands it’s for him he knock your off your feet. He literally tackles you to the ground. Hot stream of tears strimming down how face - even some snot down his knows - as he nuzzles against your side “You don’t even know how this touches me deep in my heart ! I will cherish ad protect them with my life ! I will never forget your present ! Ever !” You laughed at his enthusiasm “Lee it’s just flowers. You don't need to get yourself into this state” you said rubbing his back hoping no one will come at the training ground and see you both on the ground, and also that he didn’t crush the flowers with his body. But when he helps you up from the ground and finally takes the flowers he sees a a petal falling from the bouquet almost in slow motion. His irises seem to shatter into fragments of glass as the petal hits the ground "NOOO ! I'm so sorry ! How could I let this happen ?!?" You began to reassure him "Don't worry, it would have happened sooner or later" And as he cried on your shoulder, you promised yourself to buy something that was less likely to break. Like weights, for example.

Gaara : He is SHOOK. What you took from your time to buy him something ? Was he worthy of your time and money like this ? He blushes furiously as the bouquet makes contact with his shaky hand “T-thank y-you Y/n. But I don’t think I deserv-” “Nonsense Peanut. It’s my pleasure. It’s only a mere proof for my love for you after all” you smiled trying to ease the tension building within him. It worked because the frown on his face gave way to a more relaxed smile. But then you took him by surprise and picked out a yellow flower from the bouquet and slided it between strands of his red hair “Perfect. You look the prettiest bride ever” He blushed even further “Y-Y/n ! I-I’m your h-husband” he whined as he stuttered against your neck. He didn’t want you to see how flustered you’ve made him. Now he had to find a way to fluster you as well. It would only be fair.

Hashirama Senju : You entered his Hokage office with the flowers in hands, opening the door with your back. He was so busy he didn’t even lift his nose from the stack of papers in front of him “Tobirama I told you earlier no I can’t change the colour of the wallflower just because you don’t like the yellow-” “I like the wallflower” you said chuckling at his lack of attention. “S-sweetie ! I didn’t know you were going to come-” his hazelnut eyes finally set on the bouquet “Oh are they for me ?” he said getting up. His eyes were glittering as he saw you nodding. “Thank you so much for the attention. Here put them there” he put a spare vase on his desk “That way I’ll always have a reminder of you” You chuckled at his words “You mean something more striking than the ring on your finger” sending him blush in the next century. “No no as strong. Of course not” He gave you a chaste kiss before walking back behind his desk. “If you’re willing to take a sit there and wait for me for… 30 min or so I’ll be able to leave early with you today. Hopefully Tobirama won’t catch us” he laughed as he took a sit and motioned for you to sit in front of him. Let’s just hope his brother isn’t going to come back to talk about this damn wallflower.

Madara Uchiha : He was at his office planning some missions for other ninjas when you quietly entered the room. He noticed right away the delicate flowers that you were holding. You set them in a vase in front of him and put your hands on his shoulders massaging gently. All this without uttering a word. You knew how tired he was and how much he just wanted to go to bed at hours like this. So you hoped they would bring him at least some joy. He took his time admiring the beautiful petal and the vivid green colour of the stalk. While letting you hands work their magic on his tired shoulders. Then in silence, he pulled you on his lap and gazed briefly into your eyes before giving a long and slow kiss to your forehead. The corners of his mouth lifting slightly as he attempted to smile despite his fatigue “Thank you my Love” he said breaking the silence “I’ll join you in bed son okay ?” you nodded “Okay” giving a kiss to his lips “I’ll stay with you there” you said setting your head on his shoulder. He felt his heart swell with love as he went back to his work. Fuelled in working better and faster by your presence.

Yamato : “I’ve finally found you. Here I got you these” you said showing him your gift. "Wow, they're incredible. What are these ? Poison ? Hidden kunais compartment ? Another kind of weapon ?" You laughed out loud, quickly putting a hand on your mouth “Yamato, Dear It’s only flowers” He makes a face. Not a face that looks like one of surprise as it should noooo. He makes his signature Yamato face with a creepy smile “I think he is happy” you thought. As you gave them to him he held them carefully almost scared to break them. You almost want to tell him that being an ANBU doesn’t make him a flower breaker, but you don’t want to make him even more anxious. He blinked slowly - like a cat - as he looked back at you “Thank you very much. I didn’t know or else I would have taken something for you as well. You’re important to me you know that” he said softly gazing into you eyes. “Don’t worry about this. Just knowing you came back safely means the world to me” Your words were his cue and finally he leaning in and kissed you deeply… the gear in his mind still working to find the perfect gift for you.

Sasori : He ✨side eyes ✨ the flowers as if they were a rotten apple “You know I don’t like flowers” he says. You don’t even know how he knows since his face stayed turned to the puppet he was fixing. “I thought it was because they were from someone else-” “From someone else or from you I don’t like flowers. That’s all” he said, as cold as ever. On your side you could sense he sounded kinda sad ? Maybe because the delicate plants were so fragile to the time and its flow. “I’m going to plant them. I’m sure they will grow taller. And every year their seed will make a new flower” you said leaving him to his work. Unbeknownst to you he stopped abruptly in his task, thinking about your words. And just like that he decided to get up and see how you were going to take care of them. How you were going to ensure their life in this world despite their short lifetime. Yeah you sparked something within him and for once in his life he was eager to wait and see how your care would save those little flowers.

Slow burn-ish ends starts here :

Iruka Umino : When his eyes set on the flowers he gets red. Almost as red as the roses you’re handing him “W-wow Y-Y/n they l-look so pretty. B-but I didn’t bring anything for you. I d-didn’t know y-you’d-” but you cut him off with a kiss on his rosy cheeks “It’s my pleasure Iruka. And I’ll bring you some as long as you like them. Just to see your wide smile, the sparkle in your beautiful eyes and the colors of your cheeks” you teased him pinching his cheek lightly. “Y-Y/nnnnnn” he whined looking as sheepish as ever “You’re teasing me” he tried to look up at you again without succeeding. finally after a deep breath he pulled you against his chest. He gave the top of your head a kiss, breathing in your scent “I want to take you out to dinner with me… i-if that’s fine with you” he mumbled. “I’d love that Iruka. We’ve both been busy lately. I think that would be really nice” He smiled widely hearing your words. Indeed it sounded really nice to spend the evening with you and maybe well have you come and sleep over…

Orochimaru : That little ✨shit✨ chuckles when you give him the bouquet. Making you almost self-conscious. You’re torturing yourself. Wondering if he likes them, or if he thinks you’re dumb for offering flowers to someone as powerful as him. His natural suave voice makes you shivers as he speaks “Ooh Pet look at you. Offering me something as fragile and vulnerable as you for me to take care of” he gets closer to you “I’m sorry to disappoint but my attention will stay solely on you my Dear. Well most of it since now I have to give them a little bit of care too” He tries to stay in character but inside it’s a whole firework going on ( 4th July for my fellow American and 14th July for my French comrades ) he wants to jump up and down with you in his arms while crying and ask the skies how they found him worthy of your time and love. But he doesn’t. Instead he gives you a long and needy kiss on the pulse point of your neck. And lets you here saying he is going to look for a vase. Letting you there longing for more.

Deidara : You didn’t even have time to give them to him that he screamed “Y/n ! Those are per-fect ! See those beautiful petals how soon they will fall. Slowly giving traits to the time passing and taking their beauty with it ! This is true art ! You’re an amazing partner ! I couldn’t dream nor create a better one ! Such beautiful flowers… quick quick I need to make something to help me remember how sumptuous they were !” He took the flowers from your hand and started running somewhere, his blond hair swaying with each jump. Suddenly you saw him run back to you. He gave you a passionate *French* kiss and with that rushed the other way. But not before screaming “Do not worry you will get rewarded later” You didn’t know which kind of reward he was meaning though with him literally anything was possible.

Kakashi Hatake : When he saw you entering your shared apartment with the flowers in hand,  he smiled under his mask “What a nice surprise. And to tell I was wondering what took you so long” He pulled down his mask and gave you a long awaited kiss after a long day of work for both of you. As he took them he took in there delicate parfum “And that smell as nice as they look. Thank you Y/n. I’ll see how I can make it up to you as well” Your heart swelled “Kakashi you don’t need too it’s my pleasure” But he took you of guard “Okay I’ll give you pleasure” “Huh ? What ?” with a swift motion the flowers were securely put in a vase and you were carried on his shoulder towards your bedroom.

Shikamaru Nara : When he saw you coming from afar he sighed before shaking his head slightly. When you handed him the flower he took them while a smirk was playing on his lips “My why are you always this troublesome ?” he said. But you knew he liked the present “This is going to be such a drag to water everyday” he took a step closer towards you “Though for you I’m sure I can make some room for that” he said twirling a strand of your hair around his finger. This time it was you who smirked “Only for that Shika ?” He chuckled at your comment before leaning in and pecking your lips chastely “Keep going and you’ll see I have plenty of room to make when it’s for you” “Well then What are you waitin-” you didn’t even finish your sentence that he swept you off your feet. Well at least now you were going to know what he was hinting at. Though a part of you knew damn well what it was going to be about.

Utakata : He saw you coming from afar. He noticed the pep in your step and followed you walking up to him from the corner of his eye “Utakata ?” you said it was clear that you were excited for some reason “Y/n ?” he said, unsure of what you were up to “I’ve brought you… this !” you said, taking the flowers from behind your back and guiding them into his hands. He looked at the bouquet which was now in his hands, then back at you. And back at the flowers and back at you “What are those for ?” he said. His usual cold tone accompanying each one of his words “They are for you Dear” “I see that but what for ?” “I think the pastel blue brings out your beautiful brown eyes, that's all” you said smiling at him. His eyes widened as he saw your face inching closer to his. Your lips looked very kissable from his point of vue all of a sudden. Maybe your training could wait only for one kiss or two after all. So he dipped in and tasted your soft lips “Mmmh still so exquisite” he thought. Yes, maybe training could wait a bit more.

Minato Namikaze : You’ve set him the surprise in a pretty vase and set it on the table waiting for him to discover it when he’ll be back from his Hokage office. He didn’t even notice them bruh or if he did he wouldn’t have though they were for them “My my does the fastest man of Konohagakure go so fast he doesn’t even see the flowers her wife bought for him ?” you joked. “Y-you’ve b-bought me f-flowers ? I don’t k-know what to say” You got up but in no time he went from the door to in front of you. You cupped his blushing cheek “Just a kiss will but even a smile will suffice” He immediately leaned in and pressed his lips to yours. As he pulled away though he took your hand in his “But if you allow me I can give you much more than just a kiss Y/n” he said. His eyes were twinkling with a mischievous glow despite his quiet tone. “Only if you’re not too tired” you responded. “I’m never tired for you. In fact…” he swept you off your feet and brought you to your room “…now I feel widely awake to do whatever you’re in for” And that’s how the next day you had troubles walking ; )

Tobirama Senju : He’s part of the side eye team as well. The bouquet receives a criminal offensive one “I’m a ninja I don’t need flowers” Despite his harsh answer you smirked. First because you knew he would react like this and second because you could sense he was glad you thought to grind him something even if he didn’t know how to actually handle the gift. So you decided to tease him further lmao. Pointing towards your chest you said “Those neither and if I recall yesterday you-“ You didn’t even finish your sentence his hand went to your mouth “Shhhhhhhhh ! Okay ! Okay fine ugh… thank you. They look pretty… I guess” you engulfed him into a hug “See it wasn’t that hard with a little help” you chuckled. He was looking at everything but you, his cheeks slightly flushed “You’re insufferable” he said, shaking his head slightly, though he couldn’t help the little smile that had appeared on his lips.

Hidan : He looks at you curiously when you extend the bouquet to him “Doll you know those aren’t part of my rituals for Jashin right ?” you giggled at his straightforwardness “Of course I know that. I bought them for you and no one else” He saw you walk toward a vase you also bought and set them on his night table. His purplish eyes followed your every move as you walked back up to him. His hands gripped your hips as he continued with a seductive tone “Mmh and what for then ?” you smiled at him “Well let’s just say that you worship Jashin and I worship…” you walked your fingers on his broad shoulder “…you” His eyes widened slightly at your words as a smirk spread on his lips “Oooh and can your worship lie in more than flowers or…” he let his words trail “All you ask I’ll do” you said breathlessly lost in his gaze as you started to feel his hands rubbing circles on the skin your shirt was showing “Okay then you see this cupboard ? Bend on it and let me do the rest. My good little worshiper” he said with a husky voice that gave you an inkling of what was to come.

Genma Shiranui : He raises an eyebrow at you, his tone teasing as always “Mmh look at that. A beautiful flower gifting me beautiful flowers. But between us you look appetizing compared to them” You blushed slightly at his suggestive comment “Genma just take them. Don’t embarrass me on the damn street. People will hear you” he chuckled darkly “Baby the whole village hears you when the night comes-” “Shhhhhhhhh !!!!!” you hissed. Making him chuckle even more. His arm circled your shoulders as he pulled you closer to him and kissed your temple “You know I like teasing you. I can’t help it. Your reactions are always delightful” he said, playing with the senbon between his teeth as he looked down at you. You playfully stuck your tongue out at him “You’re so mean” “But I know you love it” he chuckled rubbing his hand on your shoulder. And gosh know it was true.

ITACHI UCHIHA

When he finally manages to get glasses he is notorious for forgetting to wear them at first.

He had grown so accustomed to not wearing them and squinting at everthing he forgets he doesn't need to anymore lol.

Is that person who drinks water over other beverages.

Enjoys reading for long periods of time. Like could just spend the whole day reading away. Is the type to read books in one sitting, taking breaks to make tea and snack only.

Enjoys having company while reading though.

A nice cuddle. A thigh touching or even just one of you splayed over the other. The warmth and touch is nice.

Secretly likes being fussed over by a s/o since he spends a lot of time fussing over his loved ones.

NEJI HYUGA

Gets a bit stressed when things aren't done a certain way but he's grown up in an evironment where he's learnt he needs to internalise everything.

Voicing his opinions even when they come across kind of harsh actually mean Neji is comfortable enough to voice his concerns with you.

Even if it is 'How can you just leave all of your dirty laundry on the floor?' completely exasperated. He's not trying to judge you or be rude he's just- he can't leave it like this.

He can't have things out of place, they have to go where they belong which is the laundry basket.

His ears a sensitive. Not necessarily in a sexual way (it can be though) even brushing a finger against them and he flinches and shivers.

If you whisper into his ear or kiss it and you two are intimate and you're getting a shiver and blush from him immediately. Maybe a gasp too.

SASUKE UCHIHA

Naturally runs cold—I'm talking his hands, his feet, all naturally are colder to the touch.

This only changes when he actively infuses chakra and perfroms jutsu which warms him some. It's very interesting notice when you touch his hands those different times.

It's likely you run warmer (even if you run cold too. He's real cold).

Teaches them life lessons.

SHISUI UCHIHA: The best damn babysitter you could ask for and he knows it too. If you tell him though he'll get all bashful about it. He's so good with kids! Talks and plays with them like he is one. Being around kids helps him reset and forget his troubles. He can't help but want to protect them and their childhoods. Because of this just wants to show them the best time.

He encourages chaos in order to keep that watchful eye on them. He actually does an alright job.

TOBIRAMA SENJU: Great teacher. Terrible babysitter. Terrible with teensy children. Good with school level children in a teaching environment. But he just can't babysit. He's so bad with children that aren't his own or his students. He's just so awkward. You know how people hold toddlers like they're wild creatures with their arms completely stretched out in front of them? That's him holding them.

Everything becomes lectures when he talks to them and he's so theoretical and awkward at connecting and knows it. He honestly chooses to just not babysit.

I want to point out though he is really good at teaching children when they're his students. When they're old enough to somewhat take care of themselves and he just has to teach them the rest and theres time to make a connection—he can't explain it—it's just different. Like tweens he's good with tweens. Genuinely enjoys seeing the next generations flourish he just doesn't have those babysitting skills.

Pocky Game with Konoha Men

A/N: I'm one day late with this but I thought it would be really cute.

Naruto loves the pocky game and always looks forward to it when he notices you bought some. He's ready with a pocky stick in his mouth before you're even done unpacking the other groceries. His eyes sparkle with glee when you join him and slowly meet in the middle for a kiss.

Sasuke hated it when you started doing it. He didn't see the point of it so he would pull away before it was time and you'd always end up losing a piece of the pocky stick. It took you having to grab him by the shoulders and pull him into the kiss for him to realize why you love it so much. He likes it when your kisses are made even sweeter.

Kiba is always the one to buy the pocky sticks, but he buys them in a lot off different flavors so you two can try a little bit of everything and not get bored. He has to be careful when Akamaru is around though because he doesn't want his friend to get sick. So you batter help him make the pocky disappear.

Shikamaru will indulge you of course but it's nothing that special to him. If you want a kiss just ask him for one, no need to play these games. But at the same time he finds it very hard to say no to you when you're looking so damn cute and excited about it already. Fine, but only one.

Choji really, really likes the pocky game. It's not because of the sweets either despite what others may thing, he loves doing romantic things with you and the pocky game is a great excuse to be cute and romantic whenever the two of you want. He always buys his and yours favorite flavor and makes sure to carry some for date nights.

Rock Lee is always a little to fast and ends up breaking the stick in his haste to kiss you. He likes the game sure, but he'd rather get to the prize first and then enjoy the snack. A lot of pocky sticks have ended up on the floor because of this, you can't fault him when he's being cute about it and looking at you with one half still in his mouth.

Neji would get so flustered about it in the beginning. Especially if you offer him a pocky while you're sitting on a bench in the park or somewhere else where people might see. He would take it very, very slow to try not to break the stick before it was time and always have this overly concentrating look on his face too.

Shino is the one who offers you the pocky but only when you're at home alone. He sometimes teases you with it too, offering to share but then pulling away. He's not much of a tease but he knows how much you love pocky so he tries to prolong it a little when he can. It's not long before your lips are meeting in the middle though.

Neji stares, quite obviously unsure what to make of the scene. His eyes slide away from yours, tracking a glob of something slimy-looking and orange as it drips sluggishly from the edge of the counter.

"Welcome... home?" You shouldn't be asking a question, but somehow you are.

There was a time when the embarrassment you feel burning its way through your body would have been the worst feeling you could imagine.

But you are not a child anymore. You have seen war and death. Have watched tragedy unfurl in your hands like the petals of a spring blossom.

So, you think, this should be nothing. An inconsequential blip across the map of your existence. Because all that you have survived was so much worse. You are stronger for it, you tell yourself

And yet, now, you wonder if perhaps this blip will be your undoing.

"I can explain," you say. But you can't. Who could?

It looks as if a sticky orange monster has exploded in your kitchen, its insides globbed onto every surface, every part of you. You wonder how you will ever get the stuff out of your hair without shearing it down to your scalp.

The thought makes you wince.

"What happened?" Neji's voice is smooth and calm, a still pond to all your frazzled, manic whitewater.

"I was baking," you say, wincing again when you add, "but I guess I did something wrong."

Neji hums in agreement, pale eyes scanning the scene, scutinizing each detail. You bite your lip, feel the prickle of tears behind your eyes.

You know you will never be the sort of wife the Hyuga clan accepts, even for a member of the branch family (though they claim all that heirarchical garbage has long since been put to rest, you see the way the elders still look down at your husband and you internally curse them for it).

You don't come from a prominent clan, you had no dowry to offer when the two of you wed. All outdated ideals and customs, you know that, but it still stings a little when members of the clan make cutting remarks under their breath or disguise their distaste with half-compliments.

So you know you will never be an ideal Hyuga bride.

But you had thought you could do this, at least. Thought you could manage to make Neji a proper meal. A hearty curry. Sweet rice cakes for dessert.

But somewhere along the way, something went utterly, totally, horrifically awry.

Neji takes a careful step into the kitchen, avoiding a patch of rice flour on the floor, and peers into the pan before you. He sniffs and you notice the way his mouth turns down minutely at the corners, his distaste evident even as he tries to hide it.

"I'm sorry," you whisper, and you hate that the sound is so small, so obviously teetering on the edge of a sob.

Neji looks at you evenly, but you dart your eyes to the side, avoiding his intense gaze. You love his eyes--love everything about him--but you can't look at him now, the shame of your failure too fresh.

Your husband inhales slowly through his nose and back out again, and you wait for him to scold you gently, as he has before when you push yourself too hard in your training or take to heart some snide remark from one of his clanspeople.

You are staring at the wall when you hear him move, cataloguing the exact pattern of the culinary travesty staining the carefully chosen wallpaper when you recognize the clink of a bowl, the scrape of chopsticks pulled from a drawner.

You whip around to find Neji gripping a piece of something vaguely bell pepper-shaped--though not, you grimace, bell pepper-colored--between his chopsticks.

"Neji, you don't have--"

He pops the object in his mouth and chews, slowly. Thoughtfully. You watch as a small muscle in his temple twitches, as if the Byakugan is about to activate.

"Mmm," he hums, the sound strained slightly.

You all but melt, the vision of your husband eating your terrible cooking just to make you feel better almost too much to handle.

"It's... sweet?" he says, another errant question that should be a statement. "And... sour, too, a little."

You bite back a laugh as Neji takes a second bite, disguising an obvious gagging sound with another exaggerated, "Mmm."

You feel the tears threaten again, but this time it isn't because of shame or embarrsment, it's from love. From knowing that even if you will never be a perfect wife, Neji is a perfect husband.

You walk across the room to place a kiss against his twitching temple, giggling a little, "Come on," you say, "let's go out for dinner tonight."

Neji sighs, visibly relieved, "Are you sure?"

You nod enthusiastically, tugging him toward the door. He hesitates, though, brow furrowing. "Perhaps," he says carefully, "you should shower first?"

Not really a question, either, because there's no doubt you shouldn't be in public covered in whatever sticky sweet rice curry monstrosity still clings to you. You smile, nodding, and head toward the bathroom, dragging a blushing Neji along behind you.

"Hey, Pet?" Shikamaru's voice calls out, followed by the sound of the zipper of the tent Ino and I are sharing being pulled down. "Are you ready to meet up with everyone?" He asks, eyeing the swimsuit he never got the chance to see.

"Ya, are you ready?" I ask back, grabbing the beach bag before crawling out of my tent. Once I'm out and standing straight again, I fix the cover I've wrapped around my hips.

Shika hums a soft yes, his eyes trailing over my fingers as I fix the knot. "Let's go," he murmurs, gripping my wrist before he leads me forward. His hand slips into mine, toying with my fingers as we head towards the beach. "Hey?" He peeps up a few steps away from the start of the sand.

"Hey, what?"

"Come here," he mutters, tugging me toward him by our joint hands. I'm pressed against Shikamaru, his free hand sliding up to cup my neck before his lips brush against mine. His kisses are hungry and quickly get rougher the longer he kisses me.

"Hey," I giggle, gently pushing him away from me. "You know the rules. No conjugating on the friends’ weekend."

"Ya, I know," he grumbles, pecking my lips again before turning back to tugging me forward. "A kiss or two won't hurt though," he mutters, jumping down the small edge from the forest grass to the sand of the beach.

"I guess so," I mutter, jumping down the edge too, Shika's hands holding my waist on my way down. 'Hello's are thrown our way by our friends as we walk across the beach. Ino and Choji wave us over their spot, getting an eye roll from Shikamaru. "Come on, stop being so boring," I tease, taking over the tugging as I beeline for our friends.

"Ino!" I cheer, racing forward to gushing over her swimsuit. "You are looking so hot."

"Bsh, this old thing?" She says, fake coyness in her voice. "I just got it off the Clarence rack last season. Look at you though! Hot damn, mamas!"

We both giggle, getting groans from the other half of our little group. "Can we just go swimming now? That's the whole point of this trip," Choji teases, standing up from the sand to stretch. "Aside from the s'mores of course."

"Of course," the three of us mock, following after the large man.

When we get to the dock, Choji races forward, jumping into the lake and making a huge splash. Ino dives in after him, her jump a lot more majestic than Cho's. "Alright, our turn," Shikamaru says, taking hold of me, and hoisting me up before I can stop him. He jumps off the deck, tumbling the two of us off the deck.

"Shika!" I shriek, gripping his shoulders and taking a deep breath before I'm pulled under. The water envelopes us as we sink, the strands of our hair tangling together as we slowly float back up to the surface.

My head breaks the water surface first giving me the chance to catch my breath first. "Meanie!" I giggle, splashing him when he breaks the water’s surface too.

"'Come on, stop being so boring'," he teases, splashing me back before he swims towards me. "Come here," he grumbles again, wrapping his arms around my waist and tugging me against him again.

Shikamaru situates us, letting himself float on the water's surface with me sat on him like a surfboard. "What are you doing?" I ask, squeezing his sides with my thighs as my hands rest on his chest. I paddle my legs in the water, slowly shifting us around the lake.

"I'm going to take a nap," he murmurs, letting his eyes fall closed.

"Shika!" I whine, splashing him again. "We're supposed to be swimming."

"We are swimming," he answers, splashing me back. "Just relax, Pet. We can waste energy paddling around later. You should take a nap too."

I grumble but give into Shika's plans, leaning my head back with my thighs squeezed tighter. As I sink into a half float, I let my upper body rest in the water like he's doing.

In my upside-down sight, I catch a glimpse of Neji and Lee on the beach. Neji's sights are set on us, his face scrunched up as he looks our way. Jealousy or is Lee annoying him? It has to be Lee, Neji doesn't take me as the jealous type.

"Nara-Chan?" Neji's voice echoes from outside my tent, getting me a teasing look from the girls. "Are you still awake?"

"Yes, I am. Give me a second," I answer, shooting a look at them to knock it off before I unzip the tent.

He pops his head in, a huge smile on his face as he looks at me. "What are you girls up to?"

"Playing a game of poker, a game I'm winning by the way," Tenten taunts enjoying her victory streak and pulling mumbles from the other girls in the makeshift room. "How about you, Nej? What are you up to?"

"I came back to see if Nara-Chan wanted to go on a walk," he answers, focus turned toward me again. "Would you like to go on a walk?"

"Sure Neji," I say, my heart fluttering a bit. We haven't had any alone time since we got here and it would be nice to finally have some. A string of teasing noises spill from the girls as I climb out of the tent, making me roll my eyes. "Hey Nej," I greet once I'm out, climbing to my feet.

His hands shoot down, clinging to my elbows and helping me to my feet. "Hello, Nara-San."

"Would you stop calling me that?" I tease, enjoying the feeling of his hands on me.

     "I suppose I could call you something else. I will have to think about it though," he mutters, eyebrows pressed together in thought. "As for now, let us go on our walk." His arm slides into mine, hooking us together as we start our stroll away from the army of tents.

Our walk is sweet, the two of us walking in silence and enjoying the scenery. Soon the forest gives way to the beach again, a soft yellow of light poking into the night sky a few yards ahead. "Neji," I murmur, my senses heightening at the thought of someone else being around.

"Calm down, Princess."

"Princess?" I ask, the nickname catching me off guard.

"I set us up a spot to enjoy some time together," he explains, blowing off my question.

"Did you?" I ask, letting him lead me forward. He hums a yes, helping down the split between the forest and the sand of the beach. "That's so sweet Nej!" I coo, the little scene he set up falling into view.

A small fire burns, with a blanket laid out in front of it. Pillows and rose petals are littered across the blanket, adding to the romantic star-gazing spot. "Do you like it?" He asks, shifting behind me with his hands softly resting biceps.

"I love it! It's so sweet," I praise, leaning against his chest. After a beat, I take hold of his hand and race forward, sliding a bit in the sand. "How'd you manage all of this? Hasn't Lee been attached at your hip all day?"

"Lee helped me set it up," Neji explains, his hands gripping mine to help me onto the blanket. "He wants 'a full report of the night' when I get back," he adds, sinking to the ground as well.

"A 'full' report?" I tease, adjusting some of the pillows before I lay down. My fingertips got with some of the petals, enjoying how soft and smooth they are.

"Yes," he answers shortly, lying down next to me. "Lee is a bit invasive."

"He's just excited for you," I murmur, letting my eyes jump around the sky, lazily counting the stars.

We fall quiet again, enjoying our star gazing before Neji's voice rings out again. "Are Shikamaru and you something? I feel like I'm intruding."

"No, we're not together," I answer, my hand sliding over the blanket in search of his. When I find Neji's hand, I tangle our fingers together.

"Then what is going on between you two?" He asks, squeezing my hand gently a couple of times.

"Sometimes we just... help each other out... with... our needs."

"Is that so?" He asks, the sound of his head turning against the fabric of the pillow following his question.

I turn my head towards him, squeezing his hand in return. "Ya, that's so," I mutter, looking into his white eyes. "Does it bother you?"

"No, Tenten and I do the same thing on occasion." Neji's eyes jump around me before settling on my face again.

     "Oh ya?"

     "Yes, does that bother you?" He asks, a flicker of concern flashing across his face.

     "No, Nej, I'm not that sallow. I just assumed you were a virgin," I giggle, a string of laughter falling from me because of my honesty.

     "I am not a virgin! I have... been with a woman," he huffs out, cheeks turning red as he turns his head back toward the sky.

     "I don't believe you," I poke, turning toward the stars too. "I think you're a virgin that doesn't know what he's doing."

     "I know what I'm doing," he grumbles, squeezing my hand again. "I know what I'm doing," Neji repeats, now squeezing my hand in repeat.

     "Ya? Prove it. You won't though, I know you won't," I taunt, turning my head again as I let out another round of laughs.

     His voice and squeezing stop before his movements pick up. Neji turns over, the hand not wrapped up in mine slides into my hair, clinging to it as his head moves forward. His lips crash against mine, a bit unbalanced with nervousness for a moment before we fall into a pattern.

     "That..." I start to mutter when he pulls away, my eyes hazily opening to look at a red-faced Neji. "Proves nothing."

His lips purse together as he scans me again. "You are a very attitude-filled person," he mutters, shifting again so he's hovering over me, legs tangled with mine and hands pressed on either side of my head. "But that is alright. It is part of what attracts me to you."

This time it's my face going red as I turn my sights away from him, a smile breaking out on my face. Damn it, Neji, why do you have to be so straight-forward about everything?

"Well that's good," I peep out, slowly focusing back on the man hovering over me. "What else attracts you to me?" I ask, letting my hands wander over his sides.

We're both still in our swim attire, Neji in his swim trunks and a t-shirt, and me with a pair of shorts and my swim bottoms underneath, an open sweatshirt covering my arms and leaving nothing but my bikini top. It's pretty generic rom-com beach wear if I think about it.

"Aside from your attitude, you are also pretty, and nice, and devoted to your work, and good to the people of the village, and get along with Hinata," Neji starts, peppering kisses to my neck after every compliment that spills from her.

"Well... pretty beside the bruise Shikamaru seems to have left you," he mutters, tapping his nose against it before shifting further down my body. "You are very vocal too, at least when you're with close friends," Neji continues, now peppering kisses across the exposed parts of my breasts. "Are you vocal during other times as well?" He asks, head tilling up to lock eyes with me as his fingers toy with the elastic band of my swim bottoms. "Shall I test it out? After all, a virgin like me could use the experience."

Cocky little shit. I go for cocky little shits. "Well..." I stumble out, clinging to the material of his shirt as I get turned on by his soft touches. "Who... who am I to deny an eager student?"

Neji smiles at me softly, pecking my lips as his hand slowly snakes down to my bottoms undoing my shorts before continuing his trail down. He finds my clit almost instantly, rubbing slow circles into the material it's still hidden under. His mouth stays busy with softly sucking on my neck. "Ya... ya, okay," I mumble, fingers digging into the loose material of his shirt. "Defiantly not a virgin."
