Summary: After Nell's death you find him before the others do, Steven told you the news so you had to break it to Luke and he took it like a hammer to the eye.

Y/n POV.

My world felt like it was shattered, yet I didn't cry for a good minute. I was too shocked – too sad to move, let alone cry. Everything had just stopped, but then it all came crashing when Steven's words had really hit me. Nell was dead. My best friend, gone.

It felt like my heart was collapsing in on itself, but at the same time tearing itself apart. I felt like someone had kicked me directly in the chest, as if any oxygen in my lungs was ripped out.

That's when Steve had told me how she had died, she had hung herself. It only got worse and worse the more I thought about it. Then I realized, Luke doesn't know. I mean how could he, he had broken out of rehab the morning after she passed, Shirley had told me. There's no way he could know. I try to pull myself together as much as I can to even attempt to say anything.

"Stevie… Does Luke know?"

I question with a shaky voice, only met with silence from Steven as if he had forgotten to consider the fact that Luke would be more affected than most of us. I hear a heavy hearted sigh from the phone.

"Fuck… No. No, he doesn't. I don't even know where he is or how to reach him."

Steve explains, I nod, tears swelling in my eyes. I know where he'd be, well I can take a pretty damn good guess. Luke's rehab was closest to my place so I decide I need to be the one to find him since I know Steve isn't living as close anymore.

"I'll go get him. You're probably too far to find him in time, if he has.. y'know.. I could probably find him before it get's too bad."

I hear Steven sigh again, he knows it would be better for me to find him. I start looking for my purse and my car keys, staying on the call with Steve as I don't want to feel alone right now and I can tell he doesn't either.

"That means you'll have to be the one to tell him…"

Steve explains, I let out a shaky and nervous sigh, processing that he's right, I can't just tiptoe around the fact that his twin sister had just hung herself in the same house his mother had also died at her own hands in.

"If he hasn't relapsed, which I seriously doubt, this might push him to it. So just.. don't let him out of your sight and stay safe."

Steve stammers to the end of his sentence, realizing what he had done by giving Luke money, possibly helping him indulge in his vices on purpose.

"I'll be as safe as I can be and yeah, I'll watch him for a while, he can stay at my place so don't worry."

I attempt to reassure Steve but I'm also extremely worried and it shows in my tone so I doubt it helped much. As much as I don't want to, I hang up and get into my car.

After maybe twenty minutes of searching I find Luke. He's pacing up and down the sidewalk, mumbling as he's counting on his fingers repetitively, he's scared. He looks worse for wear, he's battered and bruised, he's clearly not okay.

"Luke..?"

I call out, catching his attention, his focus snaps towards me. I quickly get out of my car and walk up to him, he continues to mumble under his breath.

"I couldn't save her. I… I couldn't save her. I'm so sorry.."

He sobs as I pull him into a hug, his voice quiet but raspy. He hugs be back tightly, after a few seconds I let him go and he stares at me, waiting for me to speak, waiting for some kind of lecture because he broke out of rehab but I wasn't angry right now.

"You're clean right now, right?"

I ask in caution as his eyes widen slightly, realizing how he must look right now. He thinks about what he should say right now, looking for the easiest way to explain or to make me worry less.

"N.. no, I'm ninety days clean.. I swear… I.. I swear. Ninety days free, remember?"

He stuttered to the end of his sentence with a sense of urgency in a hope that I wasn't already disappointed. He's actually clean, which you wouldn't be able to tell based on how he looks right now but even though he's more himself there's still something wrong, he's shivering and incredibly uneasy.

"Luke, are you okay?"

I question out of pure concern, knowing that it's a loaded question when it comes to him. I place my hand on his shoulder and he stares down at the ground, trying to organize his thoughts. You don't just break out of rehab for no reason only to end up pacing in the streets with no shoes and looking like you were hit a bus or two. He says nothing, he reaches up and rubs the back of his neck, he must've got pretty hurt last night.

"I-I'm freezing cold, my body feels so stiff and my neck hurts like a bitch… It feels like really awful withdrawals but so much worse and I'm clean. I swear I didn't do anything last night… I swear."

Luke stammered as he leaned in a bit closer so I could hear him fully, I need to tell him about Nellie. I suck in a cold yet heavy breath, mentally preparing myself for what's about to happen. I don't know if I can do it without breaking down myself.

"Luke… It's Nellie, she's… She's. Uh.."

I struggle out the words but I can't get myself to say it, there's something inside of me deeply wanting it to not be real, for this just to be some vivid nightmare that I'll wake from, and Nell will be back at her house, sleeping peacefully and perfectly fine when I wake up – but it isn't a dream, I can't just wake up and everything will be okay, I can't just wake up from what feels like an endless nightmare because I'm not asleep, no matter now much I desperately want this all to be a dream… It's real and I can't just ignore it. Luke needs to know.

"She's… Dead. Nell died last night."

I cry as Luke freezes up, tears roll down his cheeks, he looks like he's completely crumbling.

"What…?"

He chokes up, unable to say anything else. Doing this felt worse than I thought it would, it didn't tug at my heartstrings, it ripped them out stomped on them. He stares at me as if I'm about to tell him it's just some sick joke, I wish I could, for his sake, but I just can't.

"Can you just please get in the car, I think you should stay with me until the funeral. We can talk about it more when we get to my place."

I stare down at the floor, unable to to look him in the eyes. He nods slowly as I open the car door for him. He gets into the car, still counting on his fingers but this time more agitated, more frightened.

We get back to my place after a while of sitting in a depressive silence in the car, neither of us felt like there was much we could say through minds clouded with tragedy.

He walks into the guest room and just sits on the edge of the bed unmoving. He sits, slouched forward with his head in his hands as he sobs quietly.

I walk up to the door and knock a few times. The knocks echo through the mostly silent house, aside from the faint sound of Luke in mourning.

"…come in."

Luke responds as I open the door and walk up the bed. I sit next to him, placing my hand on his shoulder. He stares back at me, while I try to find any words in the mess that is currently my mind to try and help him, to comfort him.

"I'm not gonna lie to you and say everything is okay, because it's really not… But… I'm here for you. I don't know how to make the pain all just go away but what I do know how to do is listen and offer any comfort I can give. We don't need to talk about it right now but when you're ready I'll be here."

I sympathize, my voice brittle and low as Luke gazes at me as he, tears still flowing down his face. A quiet thank you is all Luke's able to say in the moment, his voice remains hoarse.

"Do you mind if I sit here for a while?.. I don't really want to be alone right now."

I request, as Luke sits up and rests his head on my shoulder, his hand resting on my knee.

"Me neither."

god i know this is an unpopular opinion but i wish mike flanagan had just made his stupid show and called it something else. i hate that people associate the haunting of hill house with that show, and i’m not even saying that i think the show is bad. i don’t think it’s poorly made but it’s just not….the haunting of hill house. it rearranges the characters it strips so many of them of their personalities it just fundamentally changes so many crucial aspects of the story! and shirley jackson was a genius she was a major voice that informed the horror genre we know today and it’s so bizarre to me that someone took her story, rearranged it into something barely recognizable, and still used her title. and now it’s what people think of when they think of hill house and mike flanagan goes on documentaries and says stuff like “when i created the haunting of hill house” and he has a character named shirley but she isn’t even the one who wrote the titular novel within his show, they gave that to a man, and i hate it. i hate it so much. just make your thing and say it’s inspired by the haunting of hill house fuck me

Cabin In The Woods

It’s a Holden fanfic that I started December 28th, 2021 and it’s only 575 words in, but I am of course willing to finish it.

I cant really remember what exactly happens in the movie so I will have to rewatch it but I remember looking for a fanfic after I read it and their being none so I decided to do it myself.

I was only 773 words into it so I’m not sure where I was going with it but I think it was a comfort fanfic, with JJ as the love interest?

But I have been aiming to do a Sarah Cameron fanfic or another Kiara Carrera one-shot because writing for girls in fluffy stories is so much easy I don’t know why but it is. Maybe it’s because I know how girls think- because I am one, and I am totally clueless when it comes to guys and what they think.

The Walking Dead

So I don’t have any started as of yet but I am in my TWD era (don’t think I ever really left) so I have SO many ideas.

So Rick, I have one where reader is a cop in the hospital and she is one of the cops they take hostage in exchange for Beth. She talks to them a lot and actually helps them get Beth. I’m not sure if I’m gonna kill Beth off, but maybe it can be prevented if reader changed the story.

Daryl, I obviously need to write another chapter for the Dark cell series (I will start tonight) but I want to get a feel of how to write romance for him so I can make a series, here AND on Wattpad. I am kind of obsessed with short hair Daryl so I would like to do a fanfic of early seasons Daryl, maybe in season one at the quarry or maybe one at the farm with a Greene reader. (You guys can request if you want smut or not)

Rosita Espinosa, you can check my Masterlist and see that I have already written a smut for Rosita that takes place after the season 9 timeskip, but I really want to write for either season 5-6 Rosita when she first arrives at Alexandria where the reader is living and they flirt and it may turn into a smut because her outfit at the party is SO underrated or season 11 Ro in her commonwealth guard outfit because omg. Also helping Rosita take care of CoCo sounds so cute, and it would turn into more of a fluff mom-mom fanfic.

Maggie Rhee/Greene, I really want to do a season 2 Maggie and reader who met at the farm (obviously) and reader is a member of the quarry group, reader wants to go look for Sophia but Maggie is out there and they go look for her together. There is flirting but no smut until part two. Or one that takes place in season 10, and reader is Maggie’s girlfriend who she meets will Hershel a few years after she leaves Hiltop (will be shown) and it’s basically her meting the rest of Maggie’s group (Daryl, Carol, etc) they are skeptically at first because they don’t want to see Maggie hurt but once they see how the reader treats Maggie, Hershel and Lydia they decide that she is a part of their group and now love you because you make Maggie so happy.

The Haunting Of Hill House

Literally my second favourite show and it’s so sad that literally no one writes for it so I decided to bring the fandom back and write for these depressed characters to make them happy, even if it’s only in my fanfic :(

Nell, you are her therapist instead of Arthur and it’s basically her and reader falling in love, and y’all know that night that Arthur…yeah.. that doesn’t happen to reader but she does collapse and has to be hospitalized and even when Nell freaks out and feels guilty you reassure her and it’s a happy ending. Then on a sadder note instead of Nell dying you call her right before she goes into the house, changing her mind about going inside so she comes to your house instead. Then for the last and saddest, at Nell’s funeral you remiss about all the happy days you had will Nell.

Luke, he needs some love and help so reader is his sponsor and has been helping him stay clean, romance sparks between them after Luke has recovered only for them to have a fight where he says hurtful things, reader leaves and Luke relapses.

The Haunting Of Bly Manor

Dani, my little pookie. She deserved so much better. A one-shot where reader is Flora and Miles aunt (mother’s little sister) and she was helping with the kids before Dani came. Usually when someone watches the kids, reader leaves quickly after, not wanting to stay in the house longer than necessary but once Dani shows up she finds reasons to be visiting all the time. Aunt!reader again and Flora has a nightmare and begs Dani to call reader to comfort her. Reader drives to Bly and comforts Flora, not noticing how Dani is looking at her, once Flora is asleep, Dani reveals her feelings for reader. Also I have some more but if I keep going I won’t be able to stop.

Viola, to get revenge on her sister and husband she hooks up with her sisters secret girlfriend who is also hurt by their emotional affair. Story 2, Viola finds out she isn’t the only one trapped in the chest.

Jamie, reader is a decorator and is fixing up some of the rooms in the house, including the old wing, reader starts to face some possessions after angering a sprit in the home, Jamie is there to keep her safe. (This could also work for Dani)

Not very far but have already started another chapter. Spencer and Jason are the love interests but I’m leaning towards Spencer being endgame because she is the best lair. Winnie is an icon i don’t care.

OC is Carols daughter and Sophia’s big sister. The love interest is OC, and Kelly after the timeskip.

I just started season 2 and I’m not ready for Sophia’s death, it is going to heartbreaking. Nadia is by far my fav OC. She’s literally so iconic.

Rory being so mad about everyone blaming Jess is probably my favorite thing about this episode it is just great seeing somebody having Jess's back like that.

Also, her and Lorelai agreeing to disagree is so interesting I love how Jess is seen as this kind of differing opinion for the girls seeing Rory disagreeing with Lorelai is just so interesting (and if my brain wasn't mush right now i could get into why but it's midnight for me so mush it is)

also, the final scene of Rory and Luke talking about Jess is the sweetest thing these two being the only one to really care about Jess will never not warm my heart:

Comments: Inspired by Nell and Arthur from the haunting of hill house. First whatever this is so be nice, I think this is more general reader I tried to be ambiguous as possible. Can you tell I'm touch starved??

Your eyes open to meet the stone ceiling of your home on Yavin. Barely registering the soft comforting glow of the moonlight, too filled with fear from whatever you were previously running from. Instead you make a move to jolt forward, to run. But your limbs make no attempt to move, stuck in place, unable to move. You don't remember the dream you wake up from but you knew it was bad. Your breathing is heavy and you feel like you've just ran across the mountains of the small planet you inhabit. All you know right now is that something is after you, something is coming to burn down this quaint life you've built with Luke. Take you back to Nur, to that dark, lonely place. You feel your muscles go rigid as you try to fight this invisible force. You can hear yourself release some sleep covered whines, not like you want. Your eyesight grows blurred with tears but you strive to see past them anyway.

"Hey, hey." Luke's voice is soft, a bit gruff from sleep but you see him enter your line of sight. A hand landing on your cheek, grounding you. Your eyes meet his sterling blue and you can feel your muscles relax slightly, as they always seem to do around him. "It's been a long time." He shushes you with a soft kiss to your temple, his hand stroking your hair.

"Relax, breathe." He takes a deep breath in and you automatically follow him, his hand now tracing along your neck and arms. Taking your twitching fingers in his grasp to calm them, ground you. "Remember what we talked about? Your body is just moving slow, have to let it catch up." He brings your stiff hand to his lips, softly kissing your fingers as you finally lower your breathing.

"I'm going to turn on the light alright?" His arm that was previously snug under your head shifts as he removes it and your head dips into the pillow underneath you. You wish you could grab him and instead pull him closer but your muscles are still rigid, slowly but surely waking up.

The lamp brightens the room dramatically and before you can take a breathe in Luke is already back beside you, his hand coming back to your fingers. You manage to grasp his hand with the tips of your fingers, the pressure on your chest slowly but surely melting away. You take a deep breathe in, finally fully able to get the oxygen you need. You blink the tears away from your eyes, a few falling down you cheek.

"There we go, just like that, relax." The thumb of his real hand wipes your stray tears away and he leans forward to leave a lingering kiss on your forehead.

Minutes pass like this as you attempt to move, managing to relax and flex your shoulders, wiggle your toes. You close your eyes as you finally regain full control of your body again, a relieved sigh escaping you.

"You want to talk about it?" Luke is still on his side, fingers still tracing your cheek and eyes. You move your head closer to his form. If it was up to you, you would completely melt into him. Let him swallow you whole. You shake your head as a few extra tears make their way to your cheeks.

"I don't remember what I was dreaming. Just that something was after me. Something that was going to hurt you in the process." Your voice is weak, instead savoring the way his feather light fingers trace your eyebrows, your nose.

"Everything is fine, it's just you and me." Luke's voice is calm, like an anchor in a sea of tidal waves. "I'd never let anyone take you away, not again." It's spoken like a promise, and he takes your hand again, grabbing it firmly and bringing it back to his lips to place a kiss on your wrist.

"I know." You whisper and move your hand out of his grasp to softly cup his cheek. His stare is intense but to you he feels like the sun on a cold day, warming you. "I'm sorry I woke you." Your voice wavers but your hand still moves along the smooth skin of his face.

"Stop, you needed me, it's kind of my job."

"It's not your job to take care of me." You argue softly, no bite to your words, just worry. He shouldn't have to sacrifice a good nights sleep for you, shouldn't put his life on hold to pick up your broken pieces.

He knows what you're thinking, "Jokes on you, I like taking care of you." He grows that goofy smile as his hand comes up to cup your own hand that is now trailing his neck. You can't stop the smile that grows on your face as he leans in closer head settling on the pillow beside you. "I know what I've signed up for, I know you, and I'll let you know if I think you're taking advantage of me."

He leans forward and captures your lips into a slow kiss. It's short and sweet but leaves you dizzy in the head. "Thank you." Your voice is nothing but a whisper. "I love you."

Timeline Anon is back - I’ve decided to rewrite my timeline a bit with added dates. Kept some paragraphs with theories but the rest is just dates with receipts. Pin if you need. Enjoy, LOVE x!

I’m pretty sure they’ve only met in March this year at the Renegade Nell premiere on March 26. We know that Nic was on a 6 month press tour so seeing each other was probably difficult to do. However, they did have some time to hang out in April before she had to go to Australia, and Nic started posting quite a few interesting songs in her stories starting April. I have no idea which songs Jake was sharing during that time, however I do know that on May 18 he shared The Louvre and Nic shared Birds of a Feather. Then on June 2 she shared The Louvre. (We’ll come back to that later).

Nic wears a bucket hat with the words “Popup Bagels”. I know that it’s her hat because she followed the IG page in April and also owns a different hat with the same words. I know for a fact that on May 14, Jake already had his profile picture with the same bucket hat. I couldn’t tell you when he changed his pfp exactly, but I have a strong feeling that Nic bought this hat when she was in New York at the end of April when they left Australia, and I think Jake was with her in New York. It looks like he could be in a hotel room in his pfp. And it is her hat, not his. 

We first see Nic wearing this hat at the airport coming back from Brasil, May 22. Then funny enough, there were rumors going around that Nic and Luke were in Spain towards the end of May. We know Nic’s stylist was. But guess who else was in Spain? Jake. And guess who is wearing her bucket hat in Spain? Jake, on May 30. You can see that in his stories. 

And who is wearing that bucket hat again, a few days later? Nic, at the airport going to Toronto, on June 2. Why would you share a hat with someone that much? I have no clue if Nic was in Spain but they saw each other quite a lot during the two week break they had before she left for Toronto, that’s for sure. 

Like I said earlier, on June 2, Nic was the one to share the song The Louvre. This song literally means “It’s about new love. How complicated it can be & how infuriating & how perfect it is as well.” All right… 

June 10, Jake shared the song Pavement Tune by The Frames. On the very same day, two hours later, Nic shared Redemption/Your Face by The Frames.

June 12: Premiere of part 2, Jake attends the premiere and after party. 

June 15: Nic celebrated with Camilla, Jake, and other friends. You can see someone wearing her famous shirt, “Kiss me, I’m Irish and vaccinated”. Jake was the one wearing it and you can hear his voice in the video. 

June 17: Nic posts her Skims photos and Jake likes and shares in his stories very quickly. 

June 21: Nic shares about her new song and what I thought was interesting was that Jake shared a meme in his stories that said “Let’s work it out on the remix”. 

June 25: When Jake posted stories at the park playing Scrabble and you can see Nic’s purse. That’s when people knew they were hanging out just the two of them. 

27 juin: DM begins talking about Nic in a podcast saying that she could be dating somebody. They had no idea about Jake yet. 

June 30: Nic posts a story with a green flag with "women with perfect breasts" and wished a Happy pride to everyone. Jake didn’t post anything but I have a feeling they were all celebrating together with his/their friends because a few of his friends were sharing stories with similar flags. 

July 1: Jake posts a story at the theatre going to see People, Places & Things. Obviously you can’t see Nic anywhere, but now we know that they were together because someone saw them and shared to DM that they were “getting close”. Nic shares the song July by Mundy. 

July 4: Nic shares a PCFR post in her story about her fundraiser that raised over 2M $ and Jake likes very quickly (proud king). 

July 6: Jake posts a story inside her house. Once again, they looked to be hanging out alone at her place this time. Has she ever hung out with a guy friend this much alone before? Beside JVN. 

July 12. First big sighting. Them at the pub. Jake posted stories of him smiling at the camera holding a package and another one next to the poster of the movie Longlegs that was about to be released. Later DM released a picture of them drinking at the pub. 

July 13: Nic goes to Wimbledon. She posts pictures on IG.

July 14: People realize Nic has changed the polaroid on the back of her phone when pics of WD are released. Jake posts a story with Jack, and Luke Fethers posts a story with Eamon. They were at the same pub watching the football game. Nic shares a story only on July 29 for Jack’s birthday but it’s from that day, so she was present as well. 

July 15: Jake likes Nic’s pictures from Wimbledon. 

July 16: Nic posts late at night and Jake liked only a few minutes later and also made a story around the same time. Just thought it was interesting! 

July 20: Jack shared a story with Jake saying he showed him the trailer to Longlegs. Later Jake is seen with Nic at the pub. They were joined later by Jack. 

July 21: DM shares newsletter with the new Jake and Nic pic from the pub. 

July 23: Jake went to the movies again and I think this time Nic was with him because on July 25 Nic followed the company that made Longlegs.

July 24: Nic shared stories with her Derry Girls co-stars at a wedding. The first story she shares is deleted a few minutes later, only for her to share a new one where you can’t see the polaroid on the back of her phone. 

July 25: Jake posts photos with his Renegade Nell co-stars, Nic likes. 

July 28: Jake shares some photos taken in the last few days/weeks in his stories. Some were definitely taken by Nic imo.

July 31: Jake posts a new pic on his photography account and Nic likes. 

August 4: Nic shares a story of her French Toast breakfast. Was a certain someone with her? 

August 9: Nic shares a pic of a Scrabble board at a pub. 

August 10: Nic, Jake, and her friend Dank go to see a play in Edinburgh. She shares a story of Dani. Jake and Nic follow Julia Grogan, who follow them back as well as Louisa. Not sure if Louisa was present as well.

August 11: Nic shares a backyard pic on the same blanket she brought to the picnic date, wearing her Drink My Milk shirt. You can see a man in the reflection of her sunglasses. Looks like really short hair (let’s remember that Jake’s head is no longer fully shaved). 

August 13 : Jake follows Dani, Nic’s friend. We now have confirmation that he was definitely with them on August 10 when they went to see the play. Jake also shares news that his upcoming movie is having a world premiere at TIFF. Keep an eye out for September! Nic shares the song Bless the Telephone by Labi Siffre around eleven at night. Is our girl in love?

Sibling Showdown!!!

This showdown consists of 64 sibling sets facing off against each other, as well as a few one-off polls of sets who didn’t make the actual bracket but who I wanted to include in some capacity.  Polls will last a week.  Round One of section A will go live on April 16, with section B going live the day after, section C the day after that, and section D the day after that.

Propaganda is allowed!  I just ask that it be kept positive.  Argue for your faves instead of against someone else’s.  Every sibling set who made it in the showdown is there because someone wanted them to be, so keep it kind.

Will the winners be the siblings that love each other the most?  That are most capable of killing other sibling groups with their bare hands?  That have the most sibling swag?  It’s up to you to decide!  You get to choose the manner and parameters you judge each sibling set for.

Okay I'm finally at season 3 and there is so much stuff that I want to talk about so here I go (I'll talk about the Lit/Rory part of the episode in my next post):

First of all, the opening scene is so evil!!! I still remember the first time I watched it and even though I knew that Luke and Lorelai didn't get together this season (I went into the show knowing how it ended) I still had a moment where I thought: "Wait what's going on did I skip a bunch of seasons or something???"

anyway, Lorelai calls Rory and even Rory the Queen of denial herself is like "Mom you're in love with Luke" and Lorelai goes into denial about it (is that a genetical trait?)

Okay but what the hell was Rory's and I quote "Taylor hula-hooping dream" like am I supposed to just ignore that??? and what do you mean he had Dean's hair??? I need more context!!!

Paris quoting politicians in her sleep is one the best bit this show has ever done in my opinion it will never not make me laugh.

Okay but Sookie trying to make Jackson comfortable with the way the house looks is adorable (although not needed).

When I was watching the episode with my mom, she asked me who put the banana peel on Taylor's doorstep and I'm like 99% sure that we never found out and now I need to know!!!

By the way I love Lorelai's outfit with the bob hat!!

The fact that Luke stood his ground with Lorelai all summer is honestly impressive and also showcases how much he actually cares about Jess and while I hate the thought of JavaJunkie not getting along I do love the fact that Luke prioritizes Jess.

I love Jamie he is adorable, and I hate the way things ended between him and Paris. (Also, I still see Paris and that professor kissing in my nightmares bleh)

Rory and Lorelai reuniting is such a sweet scene I'm the first to talk about how unhealthy their relationship can be but it's scenes like that one that makes me love them still!!!

Okay I know that Lorelai was joking about the dogs but why does that sounds like something she would actually do?

Another instant of my mother and Lorelai being freakishly similar! every time I'm gone for as little as one night my pillow (and some of my clothes) will have disappeared it's as if no mother on earth as a good pillow!!!

I am not even going to acknowledge Christopher's existence because doing so will give me hives. But all I will say is he sucks, and I pity Sherry for having to carry his child.

And the Hazy Lazy Days of Summer song is stuck in my head once again!!!

Emily always blaming Lorelai for everything that happens with Chris always makes me so mad!!!! but sadly I'm never surprised. Although Richard jumping in and being on Christopher's side kind of surprises me, (I honestly didn't remember!) I know that Richard is really traditional but come on!!!

The scene of Luke and Lorelai making up is sweet!!!

Also, Lauren's acting in that scene is amazing!!!

While this isn't the best episode in the season, I still love it!!!

Papiri ercolanesi bruciati dall'eruzione del Vesuvio del 79 d.C. diventano leggibili duemila anni dopo grazie all'intelligenza artificiale. A riuscire nella storica impresa sono stati tre giovani studiosi che hanno risposto a una challenge lanciata da un'azienda della Silicon Valley. La challenge Dieci mesi fa Brent Seaes lanciò l'idea di utilizzare l'intelligenza artificiale per decifrare degli antichi papiri distrutti. Il docente di informatica presso l'università del Kentucky è impegnato da anni nell'utilizzo della tomografia a raggi X e dell'intelligenza artificiale in questo campo. L'interessamento di Nat Friedman e Daniel Gross, due imprenditori della Silicon Valley, ha portato alla nascita di una vera e propria challenge: la Vesuvius Challenge. Il primo studioso che fosse riuscito a decifrare quattro passaggi di un papiro di 140 caratteri entro il 31 dicembre 2023 si sarebbe aggiudicato un premio di 700.000 dollari. Per gli altri che avessero raggiunto risultati minori erano in palio premi di valore sempre decrescente. Tra i 1.500 informatici che hanno risposto alla competizione, si sono aggiudicati il premio il dottorando egiziano Youssef Nader, lo studente universitario Luke Farritor, tirocinante presso Space X, e Julian Schilliger, studente di robotica al Politecnico federale di Zurigo, che avevano lavorato insieme in team. I giovani studiosi, in realtà, hanno sbancato, come si suol dire, poiché sono riusciti a decifrare anche altre 11 colonne di testo per un totale di oltre 2.000 caratteri. Di cosa parlano i papiri ercolanesi decifrati Il testo ricostruito attraverso algoritmi di intelligenza artificiale addestrata sulle immagini tridimensionali di tomografia computerizzata è stato prontamente sottoposto allo studio di esperti filologi. La traduzione ha restituito frasi in cui si parla di piacere, nelle sue manifestazioni più plateali come il cibo e la musica. Quel piacere che sappiamo essere il nucleo della filosofia epicurea. Da queste indicazioni iniziali si può ipotizzare, quindi, che il testo sia stato scritto da un esponente dell'epicureismo, come ad esempio il filosofo greco Filodemo. Questi, infatti, visse nella villa di Ercolano nella quale sono stati rinvenuti i papiri analizzati. Quanto altro abbiamo ancora da scoprire dai testi che potranno essere decifrati grazie a questa tecnologia rivoluzionaria. Ci sono ancora centinaia di rotoli di papiri ancora da "srotolare" e leggere e dalle informazioni che forniranno potranno, forse, dare nuove indicazioni per ulteriori scavi e riportare alla luce, chissà, la biblioteca della Villa dei papiri: un tesoro inestimabile che secondo gli studiosi è ancora per la maggior parte sotterrato. L'eruzione del 79 d.C. Quella del 79 d.C. è l'eruzione principale del Vesuvio avvenuta in epoca storica. Avvenne dopo un lungo periodo di quiescenza del vulcano e colse la popolazione di sorpresa. In due giorni e mezzo (fu questa la durata dell'evento eruttivo) modificò la struttura del vulcano e distrusse intere città come Pompei, Ercolano, Oplonti e Stabia che rimasero sepolte sotto dieci metri di materiale eruttivo.
