day 9 of @radiomogai’s 1k coining event, ‘the lonely/letence’!
the flag uses the lectence format and mostly colors representing the ocean, with the vertical stripe representing space (since, at some times, those at point nemo are closer to iss astronauts than people on land). the term is 'nemo' + 'tence' from 'lectence'!

Worldbuilding Wednesday: Halaran Religion (Part 1)
I decided to do a little worldbuilding post for Halara every week, so I have a reasonable time and place to talk about it while day-to-day posts should be more about current projects. And yes, I realize it’s not Wednesday anymore but yesterday got ridiculously busy. This particular post is about the local human religion, also followed by many other beings but not native to them. Other religions will be forthcoming on other weeks.
Taglist: @blind-the-winds (I know you’re having a rough time though, so don’t feel any obligation to read through this right now)
The Halaran pantheon
In Halara, there are 8 deities (I refuse to call them gods because I’m staying away from gendering anything ever). I realized midway through writing this how long this post alone would get, so I will cover religious practices and lore in next week.
Tsap, the sun deity, is always depicted as a ku in skirt and blouse, often made of or trimmed in gold, and holding either a bundle of grain or some farming implement. Statues generally have her offering food to the hungry or, more common in later years, picking up weapons to defend her people. She is the guardian of life, patron of farmers and soldiers.
Nemot, the deity of death, is one of two deities not associated with any gender. Nemot may be depicted as any gender, sometimes matching the artists’ or one they lost, or merely mirroring the gender of whoever Nemot is leading onwards in the particular statue. Nemot’s primary color is the earthen brown of mourning and they are always shown to be a comfort, holding a child or embracing someone as friends. They are gentle and welcoming to the afterlife (more on that next time). Interestingly, it has also long been common to show them enjoying delicacies or joining a celebration and not just welcoming an individual.
Te is the deity of all water, but rivers in particular, and is always depicted as an aig in pants and slightly tighter shirts. He is the most moody of all the deities, at turns jolly and grinning or stormy and violent. In more traditional art he is depicted holding a fishing rod or standing thigh-deep in rushing water, but in more modern art may also be shown as a lone herder (who were originally a different cultural group and traditionally left out of much of Halaran lore) or leading an army. He is strong and wise, the patron of fishers as well as leaders and nobles.
Tsisu’o is the deity of the wilderness itself. In human form zie is depicted as a robed dakal, sometimes in clothes made of blossoms, leaves, berries, sticks, and bones, and sometimes in the faded and dirty clothes of someone long on the road. But zie also appears as animals, particularly deer or mountain lions. Zie is the patron of all who hunt or gather, as well as travelers. Zie is free, cunning, and independent. Zie represents everything that comes from the wild, which certainly includes much food, animals in general, and is sometimes stretched to gardens. But it also includes athletic pursuits and poisons, which led to zir also representing spies.
Kitso is the deity of craftsmanship, entertainment, and beauty. Ne is depicted as a zjigol in a finely patterned wrap-around skirt and sometimes in a matching rich shawl or in no shirt at all with painted patterns on nem chest and back. When depicted generally, ne is most often shown brewing ale or as a bard, but is also a common figurine for anyone who does any building, art, or showmanship, and then ne will be shown doing the relevant trade.
Shai is the deity of change. Kri is always shown as a kenba in a single-piece jumpsuit, but nothing else about krun appearance is consistent. Kri may be a youth or an elder or anything in between. Kri may have any physical features. Kri is most often shown straddling two seasons or as a merchant. Kri represents any and all transitions—growing up, beginning or ending of relationships, the change to the living surrounding births and deaths. Kri is the patron of merchants and trade in general, and is prayed to every fall with the beginning of a new year, when one marries or has a child or begins a new trade, etc.
Héz is the moon deity, depicted as a yo’em in short tunic and leggings, and generally in peaceful situations like standing among flowers or dancing. Vi is the patron of luck, new beginnings (a subtle difference from the transition between states but one might pray to both to be safe), and making amends for wrongs done. Vi is the most holy deity, as well as the most personal, and is the one you pray to if you don’t think any other specific one applies.
Harup is the deity of oaths and obligations, and is the other one not associated with a particular gender. Instead, they are always depicted as a child in the longer and looser leggings and tunic, but a particularly solemn child. They are often shown joining two peoples’ hands in a promise. However, they took on other meanings later, including hope, home, war, and betrayal, and as such there are beautiful and horrifying statues of them tattered and hurt and tearful, representing all those who have been betrayed or attacked.

One of these things is not as excited as the other. ⠀⠀ Louie’s just mad cuz he can’t fit in my new tent with me. 😂 It turns out the @nemoequipment Hornet 2-person tent is actually only big enough for 1 person and their gear. Or 2 very thin people with no gear. ⠀⠀ But definitely not for 2 regular or larger than regular sized people, and defffinitely not for a girl and the Great Dane she’s dogsitting. 🙆‍♀️ . . I went to my very first @rei Garage Sale this past weekend. And I magically found the exact tent I was hoping for! It’s originally $369.95, but I got it for $220.83! ⛺️👏 ⠀⠀ Despite being on the smaller side, I’m already loving my @nemoequipment Hornet 2P 3 season tent. It was super fast and easy to set up, and its packed weight is only 2 pounds 6 oz! . . I also snagged the @rei Joule 21 Women’s Down Sleeping Bag and the @seatosummitgear Comfort Light Insulated Sleeping Pad! Can’t wait for more adventures (and more REI member benefits like these Garage Sales). 👌 . . . . . #rei #reigaragesale #forceofnature #optoutside #dogsitterlife #greatdanelove #greatdanesofig #hikelikeagirl #reimember #nemohornet #nemotents #seatosummit #outdoorgear #outdoorgearwomen #outdoorbloggers #outdoorwomen #womeninthewild #happycamper #campingout #outdoorbella (at Land Park, Sacramento) https://www.instagram.com/p/B2el6b-BAQ-/?igshid=1rxsp6f1ul4q
