I just read the Blade with scared reader fic, could you possibly do that with Dan Heng too?

yes i sure can :D this was pretty fun to write! i feel like i don't get a lot of request for dan heng himself so it was a nice change! usually people request imbibitor lol :3

Dan Heng is, reasonably, upset over it. He’s worried about your health, skipping meals and missing sleep takes a toll on people, physically and mentally. It gets to the point where he starts drugging you to ensure you sleep. And while he isn’t exactly keen on force-feeding you, he compromises by giving you just enough to weaken you, make you more pliant, and then persuading you to eat.

He doesn’t like to be physically forceful, he knows you’re still going through the shock of being brought on to the Astral Express unwillingly and being kept there against your will. Himeko and Welt said you’d get over it soon, that you just needed time to adjust, but at this rate, you’d render yourself comatose before anything else,

Dan Heng is forceful with you, but still in a gentle way. He feels bad about manhandling you into the bathroom, but once you’re inside he lets you remove your own clothes and shower at your own will. He isn’t going to stand there and watch, he wants you to know that he still cares. The most forceful he gets is cuddling at night. He doesn’t need much, but he does like to have some part of himself touching you. It helps him sleep better, knowing you’re there and that you’re his. 

“Please, I- you haven’t eaten all week. Just… just take a few bites, you need to eat something.” Dan Heng pleads softly with you, hands nudging the plate of food back towards you. This had been going on for a few minutes now, with you pushing the plate back towards him, refusing the food. He didn’t want to have to drug you again, he already felt awful enough for having to do so last week, but you were still refusing to eat. Dan Heng wasn’t going to sit around and watch you waste away, but he still wanted you to know that you had this choice. That not everything had to be done the hard way.

Because of your resistance to food, you’re on a soft foods and liquids diet for a while, stuff that’s easy to feed you when you’re barely conscious. When you start opening up and eating more on your own, Dan Heng slowly begins to reintroduce other foods. Most of it he cooks himself, wanting to make sure it was perfect for you. It warms his heart to see you willingly eating it.

If you should never grow accustomed to him and staying with him, Dan Heng is not entirely against the idea of giving you a feeding tube. It’s a last resort kind of thing, something that would take well over a year to build to, but when it’s brought up as a possible solution, he starts to think on it more. It would make feeding you easier and it means you’d have to be drugged less, but it comes with the added problem of ensuring you don’t rip it out. Regardless, he will pursue that path if you should continue to be difficult with him.

one thing i find interesting about where ray is when the show ends is that, in many ways his arc is just beginning (i don't think this is specific to ray im just having a bunch of thoughts about him)

i think this is because a lot of who ray is as a character is tied to the baggage he carries. a lot of his conflict is him being stuck, living in the past as others move forward. his feelings for mew are stuck in that moment mew showed up when he felt truly alone, his alcoholism is tied to his mother's, his self-worth is tied to his childhood and his dads money, (even netutral things, like his music taste comes from what his mom left behind), and so on. his relationship with sand begins because this baggage triggers some low self-esteem induced carelessness with his life that sand saves him from, in that moment he is so caught up in his past he just can't bring himself to care about even having a future.

one thing i also find super fucking fascinating is that sand is almost the opposite. sand lives exclusively in the present, always living to try to make it to tomorrow. he doesn't like to hold a grudge because he likes to leave the past as the past, he isn't too lost in the concept of the future etc. the times we can see ray start to break out of the cycle he's in is when he's with sand. he smiles, he's free, he discovers new music, he discovers new experiances, he imagines himself being able to have a future for the first time, he even goes to rehab. even just visually speaking, his clothing changes to be influenced by sand as the show goes on.

we see sand as a bar singer who thinks its fun but doesnt think he'll become a professional musician, we see ray listen to the records his mother left behind, and we see them both pick new music together and plan to go to music festivals. we see sand's life in the present, ray living in the past, and together they can imagine a future.

ok returning to my original point we see ray get to decide to change, and we are left with that. i like to imagine the ray we know at the end of the series is a version of him willing to fight to break out of being overshadowed by his past, that he can dictate the direction of his life starting from someplace new. i also find this interesting given what we know of ray's future plans from the finale. him co-running the hostel is techniquely new but its also in his dad's old house and the set of a lot of painful moments for him. then there's sand's moonshining, sand saying he wants to stop selling his plum whine and find a new hustle is growth considering he's giving up something stable for him in present in order to help ray's recovery in the longterm, ray however says he should continue selling the plum whine but they can change the brand name. similar to the hostel this is something technically new but ultimately drenched in the past.

but these things aren't as significant imo because ultimately the most important thing about him in the finale is he has become somone who makes future plans at all.

" I have no idea how you convince me to do this Miles?"

Remy moaned when he ate the sloppy burger, and drank the sweet soda. Ethan observed him and could not help to curve his mouth to a smile at the over entusiatic young doctor who threatrical told a story.

" Come on Ramsey. We are here for the nostalgic you know?" The freckled doctors blue eyes beamed when the warm morning sun lit up the open air cafe. In the end having to basically shout when young kids gather around the games stall, going on wild carousels and just ran around shrieking and playing and laughing happily. " Imagen this. You are five or six years old. Everything in here is a adventure. Young Ethan wanting to be a explorer and bravely going into a hunted house. Then riding the pirate ship over the seven seas. Far away from reality. In the end of the day you are allowed to be sloppy and just stuff your mouth with colorful cotton candy."

If Remy had not know Ethan he would had missed the dark shadow who reflected in his else bright blue eyes. For in a second it was like it was never there.

" If you get tired of being a doctor you can always change to working as a actor Rookie."

Guilty Remy looked down on his food fiddling with his sunglasses.

" I am sorry Ethan. Maybe it was not like that for you. If you are uncomfortable, we can leave. I just dragged you here out of the blue after all."

The older mans eyes soften. Apprently his now colleague was very insightful and full of suprises.

" Its okay Remy. I want to come here. I agreed to it after all."

The freckled doctor blue eyes looked sadly on the doctor who wiped his glasses from condensation before looking back sighning.

" Do not give me those puppy eyes Miles. I got no bad childhood traumas from amusement parks. It rather the opposite. I have never been in one."

At once he start regret saying that when Remys blue eyes gleamed mishviously and his whole face beamed.

" We are doing everything!"

" Rookie...."

" Everythiiiiiiing..."

Giving in Ethan Ramsey ate his burger and smirked.

" Okay. Everything it is."

Quickly the day came to pass. The air turned chilly when it got darker, so Remy put on a long sleeve sweater. Going in line for churros. The other doctor stood a bit away giving the ton of stuffed animals he won to two mothers who pulled a baby stroller. Gladly they thanked him and move along. Wondering why his friend took so long, he looked at the kiosk where Remy quickly talked to a older jolly irish man with red hair, beard and a big belly. On his way back Remy turned to the man beaming.

" Slán agat!"

Chuckling the older man waved shouting.

" May the wind be at your back!"

Remy chuckled and waved going backwards. Holding the hot newly fried churros around his sleeves so he would not burn his hands.

" Miles I got it. You may be skilled when working. But outside you are clumsy." The doctor frown, with a hint of teasing, taking one wrapped churros away from him.

Theatrical he gasp wiping sugar of on his jeans.

" I am not!"

The blackheaded man snorted skeptical and very amuzed.

" If you say so Rookie. Are you parents Irish? I overheard you speaking to the jolly man in the kiosk."

" My dad is. He own a pub in Stockbridge. Me and Piper loved to learn irish from him and being with him at work. Our mom could often work late hours at the university, so dad and Pip and me helped to cook a meal either at home or in the rustic pub kitchen. One time me and Piper made Churros and dad proudly let all the evening customers taste it."

" Sounds lovely."

It was in a netutral tone tho Remy could not help to wonder if Ethan wanting to have a sibling of his own? The blue eyes did look like he wanted it. So casually the young doctor talked.

" Maybe we can cook sometime Piper you and me? I remember you said you like to make home made dinners. Plus Piper study to be a bartender. So she can give you the best whisky in Boston. How about it?"

" I can not say no to Whisky." The older doctor chuckled and smiled genuine. " Thank you Remy."

The freckled doctor moaned over the heavenly fresh pastery and looked up raising his brows.

" Why?."

" I had fun today. I may not have been your first choices, so I am glad your brought me. I am sorry I had not shared much of my past as you done today. Tho it seems like you had figure out a bit yourself, I like to share a thing."

Remy beamed.

" I would love to hear it."

" Growing up my dad wanted me to study and not to play around. But what he did not know, was that whenever I could I would sneak of and play outside, pretending I were a pirate captain."

" Ha! I knew it!"

" Alright Miles I guess you are allowed to be smug about it."

The doctors ate the pastry. Remy tried to muffle a giggle when Ethans mouth got all smudge of nutella and sugar. So as quiet and discreet as he could, he snapped a photo. Smugly scrolling down the camera roll, seeing them on a roller coaster, in the mirror and fun house, riding in radio cars and his fav photo of the day. Ethan jumping after being scared by a actor in the haunted house.

Lil Ragamuffin has just been hanging out at the Sage residence. Schrader has been very happy to have her there with them, Walter is rather netutral about it, being creepy and brooding as always. Schrader has been showing Lily around and such, holding her hand every step of the way X3

Garden Bud, keeping an eye on his little girl as always but also checking on Coraline. Not too happy what his brother’s been doing but…it’s somewhat understandable

Ryder’s been Ryder, but not that Ryder we know and despise with every fiber of our being. This Ryder is a good, just been here and there, taking care of his gorls. One of his gorls is as angsty as always, but he doesn’t mind and tries his best to be a good father. These are the reportable offenses on tumblr.com . I have reported people for multiple offenses before, not just spam. I literally just try to follow the rules. Someone told me people on Twitter are trying to get my account deleted but I did not break any of the offenses. I was never intentionally harassing anyone and I think a netutral third party like staff wouldn't think so either, so it's kind of funny that people not even on this platform are worked up about me.

I have seen too many people come into the fandom seeming netutral/not interested about ships at first, then after awhile that they start to be vague put a bit of this and that and then after they have gained enough support from both (or many) ships fandoms, they finally start to spill the beans about what they ship, because guess what? Yes they actually shipped something all along it’s just they never clearly stated it. It’s frustrating to support this kind of people just to see  they were faking all along, Be fucking transparent about who you like so people are not going to get the feeing of being fooled, we aready had Ku/bo for that.

In your recent Dan Heng fic, you mentioned Himeko and Welt giving him advice for his darling… do you think you could do something with the three of them trying to “socialize” the terrified darling?

Ah this is such a cute idea! I didn’t involve the three of them together so much as I did expand the idea of Dan Heng socializing Reader, so I hope you still like it :D

Things start off fairly rough at first, with Dan Heng trying to loop you in with everyone else instantly, but your behavior and reactions made it difficult to do so. This led to a different course of socialization, wherein Dan Heng would try to slowly introduce people to you on your own terms. He allowed you time to get acclimated to the bedroom the two of you shared before looping in Himeko for help.

Her and Welt had been the two he’d gone to for advice, they were older and wiser, it was only natural Dan Heng sought them out. Himeko also has a soft, almost mothering side to her when it came to the younger individuals on the express, making her the perfect to be the first to acclimate you to.

The plan was near to perfect, once you had settled in and gotten used to Dan Heng and your new bedroom, then slowly he’d introduce the members of the express to you until you had grown accustomed to everyone. Originally he had considered PomPom as the first choice, with the conductors soft looks and chipper demeanor, but he changed his mind when considering Himeko as an option. She was kind, almost motherly to the group, and had been a huge help alongside Welt in not only getting you on board the express, but in helping him with ideas for getting you settled.

“Since you have gotten comfortable a bit, I thought now would be a good time to introduce you to Himeko.” Dan Heng stays in the room with you two the whole time, chatting with the two of you over tea as one of his hands holds yours. This would be the first of many meetings to get you used to Himeko, some of which Dan Heng would be absent for. While he adored the way you used him as a shield, he wanted you to be comfortable without him around as well.

The order of which Dan Heng introduces you to everyone starts with Himeko, followed by Welt, next comes PomPom, then March, and so on. He tries to slowly build up to the more excitable personality types, starting off with Himeko and Welt for their older, almost parently type of personalities.

When you have at least met with everyone, he starts to bring you around the express with him more. Even if he’s just going to grab himself a drink, he has you walk there with him, to help you feel more at home aboard the express. He hopes to have you walking freely like everyone else, no longer tied down to just one room. He wants you to feel at home, like he does.
