We wanted to thank all our amazing #jamfam for coming out and shopping with us while the heat was so brutal recently. 🥵 It was hard for everyone but your continued support makes us all feel extra #grateful after wrapping up and packing everything away for a few days to focus on cooking this week. 🔥 After wrapping the week in #Newburyport today, we were also blessed to pick a bounty of raspberries from a friends homestead (no rest for the wicked). Tons upon tons of seeds drying from crafting this weeks #PawpawJam has us thinking a lot about our #trulylocal commitment. 🌎 Though the #pawpaw is North America’s largest indigenous fruit, it seems like so many of the folks we talk to have never even seen or tried one, let alone picked one up and put it in their pocket! 😂 It’s by no fault of ours that this #local treat has been left off the #locallandscape, but it can our opportunity to change that. ✊ We’ll be including a small packet of seeds with each Pawpaw Jam purchase for everyone to plant as they wish. Announcing the long awaited return of our #trulylocal #CapeGooseberryJam! ⚡️ Last season we were only able to make one small run of this geographically defying flavor, so this season we’ve added additional growers for our supply to ensure plenty more to spread around with our faithful #jamfam. Our first batch this season is crafted with berries from @libertyhillfarm of #Dracut. We’re not joking when we say it sold out in just three weeks (a record for any new flavor)! ⚡️ These delectable pineapple flavored berries have a magic all their own (a New England tropical taste as coined by Carolyn). ⚡️ Also known as the husk cherry, or ground cherry, this delectable golden berry grows naturally and at times evasively across the US and Canada. Jalapeno - Honey Jam glazed Zucchini parm over herbed Quinoa with stewed tomatoes 😋 This #vegan #glutenfree fish was inspired by a customer in search of more ways to use their pantry stash of our #jalapenohoneyjam. 🌶 While digging through to defrost our smallest freezer, we found a julienned zucchini from Walsh Family Farm and knew it screamed to be baked! Combine in a leftover empty jar of our jelly (or ramekin) take 1oz spicy jam and 3tbs hit water to make your binder, then dip each zucchini to coat and dip in fine cornmeal. #collaborationdinner 4 roasted chicken quarters from @nalliepastures 3 white onions from @millcitygrows Head of garlic from North of Boston 2 frozen diced bell peppers from the Walsh family farm 2 cups Jacob’s Cattle beans from @baersbestbeans 2 cups long grain brown rice 1 jar of our #JalapenoHoneyJam We love rice and beans, and it often goes with chicken when we make it up for a simple family dinner at our house. Soak your beans overnight in a bowl on your counter for the soft velvety texture everyone loves. Using half our jar (about 2 oz) with 2tbs salt, 1/2 vinegar (we opt for ACV) and 2 cups water, bribe chicken quarters together in a zip lock bag or large enough plastic container with a tight lid to brine. This will keep everything juicy when you roast them up. We love our old Dutch oven for beans, but try can be cooked stovetop however you like to do them best for your fam, just make sure you give them 45m-1h to summer covered in a small sauce out with 1” of water above the beans in pan. Chop onions and mince garlic into #nanaspan with a little olive oil then add frozen peppers and allow to cook till translucent. Pan fry your dried rice in the juices to unlock their starches before adding water and capping till tender. When the beans and rice are finished, combine both (in your bigger pan😉) and set aside till your chicken is ready to serve. Roast chicken in a glass baking dish at 325° for 25-35 minutes, with 5 minutes left glaze the top of each cut with a generous slathering if our Jalapeno - Honey Jam to get a sweet and spicy glaze everyone will love. This was the perfect meal to enjoy a sunny sunset on a gifted warm spring day on our patio to, and hope you’ll let us know where you enjoy your version of it.
