Shiv Sena (UBT) NCP (SP) Congress to contest upcoming Maharashtra polls together: Sharad Pawar
Addressing a news conference here, Pawar also said it is the moral responsibility of the major opposition parties in Maharashtra to protect in the state assembly polls the interests of smaller allies, which were part of the coalition in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar on Sunday said his party, Congress, and the Shiv Sena (UBT) led by Uddhav Thackeray will jointly contest the Maharashtra assembly polls, due in October this year. Addressing a news conference here, Pawar also said it is the moral responsibility of the major opposition parties in Maharashtra to protect in the state assembly polls the interests of smaller allies, which were part of the coalition in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The NCP (SP), Congress and the Shiv Sena (UBT) are constituents of the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), which was in power in the state from November 2019 till June 2022 before the collapse of the Thackeray-led government. Pawar said the opposition will keep a collective face before the people of Maharashtra. There is need for a change in the state and it is the moral responsibility of the opposition coalition to discharge it, Pawar said. “As Arjuna’s target (in the epic Mahabharata) was an eye (of a fish), our eyes are all set on the elections in Maharashtra. The Congress, NCP (SP) and Uddhav Thackeray’s Sena (UBT) will jointly contest the Vidhan Sabha polls,” he said. The former Maharashtra chief minister said talks on seat-sharing in the state have not begun, but will commence soon. The people gave a good response to the NCP (SP), Shiv Sena (UBT) and Congress in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, he noted. “But like these three parties, the Left parties, Peasants and Workers Party (PWP) were also a part of the coalition but we could not give them seats in the Lok Sabha. It is our moral responsibility to protect the interests of these parties,” he said. “So the efforts will be to go ahead with them (in the state assembly polls),” Pawar added. Asked about the state budget presented on Friday by the Eknath Shinde government, the NCP (SP) chief said, “What happens if you go with an empty pocket in a market? It’s a matter of a few days, reality will be seen soon.” A monthly allowance of Rs 1,500 to women in the 21 to 60 age group, three free LPG cylinders a year for households, farmer-friendly steps and a stipend of Rs 10,000 per month to youths for skill training were highlights of the Maharashtra government’s budget for 2024-25 presented on Friday, four months ahead of the state polls. Asked if he will participate in the Wari (pilgrimage) ‘palkhi’ procession which began here on Friday, Pawar said, “The palkhi travels to Pandharpur from my village in Baramati (in Pune district). I will welcome the Wari procession in Baramati.” The ‘palkhis’ (palanquins) carrying the footprints of revered saints Tukaram and Dnyaneshwar Maharaj set out from Pune’s Dehu and Alandi, respectively, to Pandharpur in Solapur district over the last two days. They will reach Lord Vitthal’s temple in Pandharpur on the occasion of Ashadhi Ekadashi on July 17. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Friday said the state government will send a proposal to United Nations agency UNESCO for world heritage nomination for the annual Pandharpur ‘wari’ which has a tradition of 1,000 years. He said the government will also set up a separate corporation to provide facilities to devotees of Lord Vitthal (called warkaris), who undertake the annual pilgrimage from Alandi and Dehu in Pune district to the Vitthal-Rukmini temple in Pandharpur. The Deputy CM also said the government has decided to provide a sum of Rs 20,000 per ‘dindi’ (group of devotees) of the pilgrimage from this year. An allocation of Rs 36.71 crore has been made for this in the budget. (Except for the headline, this story has not been edited by DNA staff and is published from PTI) Source link via The Novum Times

Govinda Joins Shiv Sena: A New Chapter in His Political Journey
Tumblr media
Bollywood actor Govinda, known for his energetic dance moves and comic timing, has stepped back into the political arena after a hiatus of 14 years. On a sunny Thursday afternoon, amidst the buzz of anticipation, Govinda officially joined the Shiv Sena party. Let’s delve into this significant development and explore what it means for both the actor and the party.
1. Govinda Joins Shiv Sena
Tumblr media
After a prolonged “vanvaas” (exile), Govinda’s re-entry into politics has caught the attention of many. The actor, who once served as a Member of Parliament from Mumbai North, is now aligning himself with the Shiv Sena led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The timing couldn’t be more intriguing, with the 2024 Lok Sabha elections on the horizon.
2. The Party’s Perspective
Shiv Sena leaders welcomed Govinda with open arms. Krishna Hegde, a prominent face within the party, visited Govinda at his Juhu residence. Speculation is rife that Govinda might contest from the Mumbai North West seat, pitting him against Amol Kirtikar. However, both Govinda and CM Shinde clarified that the actor’s entry wasn’t solely for an election ticket. 3. The Road Ahead
As Govinda embarks on this new chapter, he emphasizes his commitment to art and culture. His focus lies on elevating the state-controlled Film City to international standards. Perhaps this move is more about contributing to Maharashtra’s creative landscape than chasing political power.
Conclusion
Govinda’s return to politics adds an interesting twist to the upcoming elections. Whether he dances his way to victory or chooses a different rhythm altogether, only time will tell. For now, let’s watch as this Bollywood star navigates the political maze, bringing his unique flair to the Shiv Sena. Read the full article

Ashok Chavan Latest To Quit Congress After Milind Deora, Baba Siddique
In a big blow to the Congress in Maharashtra months ahead of the general election and state polls, former chief minister and former MP Ashok Chavan resigned from the party's primary membership amid reports that he was in talks with the BJP. The senior leader may get a ticket to the Rajya Sabha, according to sources.
Tumblr media
Mr Chavan, who represents Bhokar in the Assembly, met Speaker Rahul Narvekar and handed in his resignation. If he joins the BJP, it will be the second big switchover in Maharashtra after Congress leader Milind Deora quit the party last month and joined the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena.
Earlier, BJP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had been asked if Mr Chavan is joining the party. "I heard about Ashok Chavan from media. But only thing I can say now is that several good leaders from Congress are in touch of BJP. Those leaders who are connected with the masses are feeling suffocated in Congress. I am confident that some big faces will join Congress," he had then said.
According to Congress sources, Mr Chavan's differences with state party chief Nana Patole on selection of candidates may have played a major role in his decision to switch sides.
Son of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Shankarrao Chavan, Ashok Chavan wields significant influence in the Nanded region and this switch may hurt the Congress in the upcoming polls. This also plays out against the backdrop of the tall poll challenge facing the Maha Vikas Aghadi -- comprising the Uddhav Thackeray faction of Shiv Sena, the Sharad Pawar camp of NCP and the Congress.
Ashok Chavan has had an eventful political journey so far. Starting out as a student leader during his college days, he went on to hold key posts in the Congress, including Maharashtra Congress chief and a member of the Congress Working Committee. He has served as an MP from Nanded on two occasions and been a member of both Houses of the state legislature.
After serving as state minister, he was chosen for the Chief Minister post after Vilasrao Deshmukh stepped down in the aftermath of the 2008 terror attacks in Mumbai. The Congress retained him on the top post after the 2009 state polls. The stint was, however, short as Mr Chavan was forced to step down amid corruption allegations related to the Adarsh Housing Society scam.
Responding to Mr Chavan's decision, senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh took a "washing machine" jab -- washing machine is an oft-repeated reference the Congress uses to accuse the BJP of stalling criminal investigations against Opposition leaders who switch to their side.
When friends and colleagues leave a political party that has given them much — perhaps much more they deserved—it is always a matter of anguish. But to those who are vulnerable THAT Washing Machine will always prove more attractive than ideological commitment or personal loyalties," Mr Ramesh said. "These betrayers don't realise that their exit opens up vast new opportunities to those whose growth they have always stunted," he added.

India: Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde announces ‘New Healthcare Vision 2035’
CM Eknath Shinde, the chief minister of the state, has ordered the administration to double public health spending and improve the health system, particularly in rural regions, on a war footing, in order to ensure that such incidents don't occur again. The recent deaths of 31 persons in a government hospital in the western Indian state of Maharashtra during a 48-hour period highlighted various concerns about the state's healthcare system. Additionally, the Chief Minister has given the go-ahead for super-specialty hospitals to be built in each of the state's 34 districts.
Tumblr media
CM Eknath Shinde The statement was made at a high-level gathering that was also attended by Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, the state's deputy chief ministers. Healthcare financing and hiring were also on the agenda during the discussion. The Chief Minister has ordered that equipment and medications be purchased right away. The ability to use scheduled funds for purchases has been granted to all district collectors. They must always have access to the life-saving medications, and any shortage will not be tolerated. At least 25 out of the 34 districts are in urgent need of new hospitals. In light of this, the Chief Minister has ordered the establishment of brand-new, completely functional district hospitals and the deadline for submitting the project's blueprint is 15 days. The CM has ordered the creation of nine additional health circles in addition to the current eight, taking into account the need for healthcare, particularly in government and public hospitals. The government frequently receives complaints that its hospitals are unclean and lack sufficient sanitation; in response, the CM has ordered authorities to make routine inspections to guarantee high levels of cleanliness. The CM has instructed the relevant officials to prepare the draft of the "New Healthcare Vision 2035" within the next 15 days. BJP wants to break Maharashtra-Uddhav said
NCP Crisis:Maharashtra
Sharad Pawar has been removed from the post of National President after the rebellion in NCP under the leadership of Ajit Pawar. In the matter of numbers game, nephew Ajit has an upper hand over uncle Sharad.

FILE- Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray. Image source - PTI NCP Political Crisis: Amidst the ongoing political turmoil in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray targeted the BJP. Uddhav Thackeray said on Thursday (July 6) that the BJP has broken the Shiv Sena and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and wants to break Maharashtra. In his first reaction to the split in the NCP, Thackeray said, "They are against Maharashtra. He first broke Shiv Sena and now NCP. They want to break Maharashtra and do not want anyone who can stop them from getting out. The NCP has split after Ajit Pawar became the deputy CM in the Eknath Shinde-led Maharashtra government. Since then, the political battle between uncle Sharad Pawar and nephew Ajit to retain the leadership of NCP is going on. Ajit has declared himself the National President of NCP and has staked his claim regarding the party in the Election Commission. At the same time, Sharad Pawar has also reached the shelter of the Election Commission. All these things are happening just like what happened with Shiv Sena. Is Shinde faction angry? After Ajit Pawar's entry in the Maharashtra government, it is being claimed that many MLAs of Eknath Shinde faction are angry. Shiv Sena UBT leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut has also claimed that 17 to 18 MLAs of Shinde faction are angry with the rebellion in NCP and Ajit's entry in the state government and are in touch with him. Along with this, Sanjay Raut claimed that Maharashtra would get a new Chief Minister. Eknath Shinde faction leader and Industries Minister Uday Samant rejected all these claims outright. He said that all the speculations being made about CM Eknath Shinde are wrong. He said that whatever has happened (for that) the initiative was taken by Chief Minister Shinde. At the same time, while issuing a statement, several MLAs of the Shinde faction said that there is no need to panic. Read the full article

Maharashtra Political landscape, From DY CM Fadnavis to NCP Chief Sharad Pawar
In a recent interview with a media house, Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis opened up about his relationship with CM Eknath Shinde and a lot more related to the game of power and tackling hate speech in Maharashtra. When asked about his government completing one year in power and him living to the promises he made, Fadnavis replied, “Everything cannot happen in one year but we’ve put all infrastructure projects on a fast track. For instance, we can use a major portion of the Coastal Road by the end of this year. The Trans-Harbour Link will also be functional. We will begin one part of Metro Line-3 this year and the next part by next year. The Navi Mumbai airport will also be operational next year.”
He named all the major achievements of the government of Maharashtra in one year, including the approval of 10 medical colleges and the last leg of the Samruddhi Mahamarg (Nagpur-Mumbai Expressway). “Only 100 km of the Samruddhi Mahamarg (Nagpur-Mumbai Expressway) is left to be constructed and it will be completed in the next six months. We have also approved the construction of 10 medical colleges in the state and every district will have a medical college. In collaboration with the Central government, we have started work to upgrade the rural health infrastructure.
The Maharashtra political scene has become very interesting lately with NCP chief Sharad Pawar jumping into the main game every now and then.
On Sunday, Pawar  BJP leader was unaware of past events and his judgment of Pawar sprang from sheer ignorance.
“When I formed the government in 1977, the BJP, in the form of Jan Sangh, was with me. Uttamrao Patil was the deputy chief minister. There was Advani (Hashu). The government formed was inclusive, taking everyone along. He (Fadnavis) must have been in primary school then and hence know nothing about it,” said Pawar while speaking with the press in Baramati.

Ruckus in the Shinde faction on Ajit Panwar
Tumblr media
Maharashtra Politics: MLAs of Eknath Shinde faction are worried about snatching the department, MLAs are raising the question why Ajit Pawar was included in the government despite having absolute majority.
Tumblr media

Shinde camp's silence :-
According to Hindustan Times report, Eknath Shinde held a meeting with both his deputy Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar on July 4, but no result could be found in this meeting either. A lot of movement is being seen everywhere regarding the allocation of portfolios. The silence of the Shinde camp has also been mentioned in the report. In which sources have been quoted as saying that the Shinde camp looked quite calm during the cabinet meeting, while the Ajit Pawar camp was quite aggressive. Apart from this, there was a lot of conversation between Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, while the CM was sidelined.
Uproar over the finance department :-
The real ruckus on the division of departments started when a proposal was made by the BJP to hand over the responsibility of the finance department to Ajit Pawar. CM looked angry. The Shinde faction has opposed the proposal to give the finance portfolio to Pawar. After which a meeting can be held regarding this again. along with Eknath Shinde, 40 MLAs broke away from the Shiv Sena and supported the BJP and formed the government, but now the BJP has got another new friend in the form of Ajit Pawar. In such a situation, old friend i.e. Eknath Shinde is frightened that BJP may leave his hand. Many MLAs of Shinde faction have also raised questions on this. The MLAs say that when we had absolute majority then why there was a need to include Ajit Pawar?
Uproar in the Shinde faction :-
The statements of the opposition leaders are also being considered as one of the reasons for the upheaval in the Chingari Shinde faction. Many leaders including Sanjay Raut have claimed that Ajit Pawar is going to replace Shinde soon. Raut had claimed that Shinde would soon go down the CM's chair. Apart from this, Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan claimed that BJP has made a deal with Ajit Pawar for the post of Chief Minister. Bargaining has been done to remove Shinde from the post of CM and give it to Ajit Pawar. Amidst all these statements, there has been a stir in the Shinde group involved in the government and these rebel leaders of Shiv Sena are beginning to fear being thrown out of power. 'Mogambo khush hua' Uddhav Thackrey taunts Amit Shah after losing party name and symbol
After the Election Commission stripped Shiv Sena faction chief Uddhav Thackeray of the party name and its election symbol he attacked BJP and its chief strategist Amit Shah using the popular lines from the movie "Mr. India" -- 'Mogambo khush hua". He also attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that it was Shiv Sainiks who did themarvelouss job of saving Mumbai from the serial blasts of 1993, "Those talking of Hindutva now, where were they? Address is not known. Now they brag about a 56-inch chest. Where was that 56-inch chest then? He was sweating," he said.
He further talked about people wearing masks and said that once people wore "Modi masks at rallies, now it is PM Modi, who is after the mask of Balasaheb Thackeray," he added. On Friday, the month-long battle over the legacy of Bal Thackrey, father of Uddhav Thackrey settled in the favour of Eknath Shinde by the Election Commission.
"Yesterday, someone (Amit Shah) came to Pune. He asked how things are going in Maharashtra. Then someone said it was a very good day, because the name and symbol of Shiv Sena were given to the slaves who came with us. So he (Mr. Shah) said very well, 'Mogambo khush hua'," he said while attending a Public meeting in Andheri, Mumbai.
Citing the supervillains of Bollywood, Uddhav said, "These are the Mogambos of today. Like the original Mogambo, they want people to fight among each other, so they can enjoy power."
"They turned me out of my own house and the verdict went in the favour of thieves," he said as he warned other parties about BJP claiming that they are allowed to get away with anything and others must be on alert.
