Hunter Biden plea deal explodes

explains how Hunter Biden's plea agreement exploded in court. Basically, DoJ gave him an extremely favorable agreement, and more or less tried to keep the gun crime - and other crimes - out of sight of the judge. The lenient plea agreement was on the tax charges. There was an even more lenient diversion agreement on the gun charge. The judge has the responsibility to ensure that the accused understands all agreements and potential consequences. Because of concerted efforts to keep this on the downlow, there was no public agreement on those agreements and consequences. The judge said that the parties tried to get her to rubber stamp the plea agreements, and she didn't like that.

"U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika adjourned the hearing so that the two sides could refine and clarify the agreement." The parties are due back in court this fall.

Diversion is rare in the federal system, and Hunter Biden was about to receive that for a firearms crime. Diversion & immunity for every crime you ever committed? That's unheard of.
