It hadn’t been easy, realizing that she’d been sent back to a timeline where her father was alive, and her mother had perished on Reach — or perhaps a later engagement; she did not yet know. And it was even harder for the Renegade Spartan to actually work with her father, and he did not even know who she was. Although she knew it was better that way, some part of her didn’t wish it were. Some small, selfish part of her wished that her father could know who she was. Because then at least it would help to fill the aching, empty void within her chest. Because then, perhaps, she would not be so damn lonely.

To him, she would have simply been another impassive Spartan-IV, clad in sleek black MJOLNIR GEN2 armour. But deep down, she was so much more. He simply could never know that fact.

A weary sigh whuffled over the COM, as the Ensign slid out of her thoughts and came back to reality. She had not been much of a vocal mission partner. She was as silent as her RECON armour was black, and as imposing as her SCOUT helmet was sharp. Her blue-tinted visor swung towards her fath— teammate, and she noted that he, too was nearly as quiet as she, although she knew that that was a trait typical of a lot of Spartan-IIIs. He did not speak, when nothing needed to be said; there was no need to waste breath on pointless small talk.

Something irked at her, at the way this mission had been so easy thus far. Marines would have called it a milk run, and she was inclined to agree at this point. They had yet to reach their target, and the resistance they’d encountered along the way had been spread thin, and more bothersome than troublesome. Something didn’t sit right in her gut. But she did not break silence to voice those thoughts; her companion was an old pro at missions like these, and she didn’t want him to think any less of her. She did not want him to think of her as just one of those regular old Spartan-IVs. At the very least, she wanted to fit in with the better IVs; those who were more on par with the IIs and IIIs, despite the fact that their augmentations — and perhaps even training — were inferior to their predecessors’.

Her silent worries were well-founded, and came to fruition, when a pair of hulking Mgalekgolo lumbered into view, flanking a trio of high-ranked Sangheili. And higher above, all around the canyon they were marching through, were Prometheans. Dog-like Crawlers clung to the rocks, snapping their “jaws”, the more robotic Knights glared down at them with carapaces flapping, the human-like Soldiers popped about in anticipation, and quite a few Watchers hovered in place, waiting to revive any fallen armigers.

“Contact..... everywhere.” she muttered over the COM, grip tightening on her MA5D assault rifle. “This is gonna be one hell of a crossfire.....”

My first light frame of the Andromeda Galaxy. It turned out great but my scope was then attacked by Dew and so I couldn't image anymore. It's only a 2 minute exposure at iso 1600. Also the frame wasn't great but something to improve on in the future. It is a dark nebula of gas and dust that is located 1° south of the star ρ Ophiuchi of the constellation Ophiuchus. At an estimated distance of 131 ± 3 parsecs, it is one of the closest star-forming regions to the Solar System. They were Marked.

The Spartan in the deep blue armour did not realize it yet, but they were going to die. They had been Marked; Project: COLD MOON wanted them gone. And Project: PHOENIX would not stop until its target was dead.

Cold, cold, the icy wind was cold.

Dark, dark, the looming shadow of Project: PHOENIX was dark.

Boots thudding into the dirt, a Spartan clad in black SCOUT-class MJOLNIR GEN2 appeared as though out of thin air in front of its target. This close, they would have been able to see that its visor was black, and its armour was accented with pale grey. This close, they would have also been able to see the energy pike it carried, crackling with energy, and reminiscent of the energy staves the Sangheili once carried long ago.

Silent, silent, Project: PHOENIX was silent as it stared its target down.

It was barely shorter than its target, and certainly not as strongly built, but Project: PHOENIX was powerful nonetheless, and impressively fast. And very, very lethal to boot. Its target would hardly stand a chance.

“Come then, warrior. Let us duel.” Its tone would have been flat and completely empty, were it not for the seemingly natural huskiness to its voice. Did it like to play with its targets? Sometimes. Sometimes a streak of cruelty would rear its ugly head, and Project: PHOENIX would taunt and torment its target before killing them violently. This time would be no exception. And this time, it would be so much fun. It always liked watching the Spartans break; cry, beg for mercy.

Weak. They were always so weak.
