I don’t want to say that show is a mess…
…but it kind of is a mess.
Don’t get me wrong, I prefer the original cast, but wth are they doing? Kirsten was a main character and now she is either gone or recast AFTER they wrapped up filming season 1? What is going on?

Review: The Book Of Mormon
"The musical version of Cards Against Humanity" Read the Screen One review of The Book Of Mormon here #BookOfMormon #Musical #Review @bookofmormonuk @_domsimpson_ @AvivaTulley @MrStevieWebb @PrinceWales_UK
Book Of Mormon Trailer Now into its tenth year, Book of Mormon shows absolutely no signs of slowing down.  Still playing to packed houses at the Prince Of Wales Theatre in London, the musical from the minds of South Park’s Trey Parker and Matt Stone is still one of the most creatively brilliant and most shocking musicals you will find in the West End since Avenue Q (Which Robert Lopez, the third…

Severance (Season 1)
Tumblr media
TV Shows/Dramas watched in 2023
Severance (Season 1, USA, 2022)
Creator: Dan Erickson
Directors: Ben Stiller & Aoife McArdle
Mini-review:
I'm still reeling from that mind-blowing season finale (which might just be one of the best TV episodes I've ever seen), but one thing I can say for certain is that this show is my new obsession. It got me hooked right from the first episode. There's something so unsettling and hypnotizing about the setting, the locations, the cinematography, all of it. I couldn't tear my eyes away from the screen. And, on top of that, the story is just so original. I have never seen anything like this. I could never guess where the story was going, and all the plot twists caught me by surprise. Especially those in the final episode, which were absolutely insane.
The production design is also spectacular. All those endless, winding white corridors are a great way to express how madness-inducing the situation is. And I also loved all the little lighting and camera tricks they used to distinguish the inside and outside (this won't make sense until you watch it). The performances also helped a lot, cause the whole cast is absolutely perfect. I honestly think Severance is one of the best science-fiction TV shows I've ever seen, and I won't be able to stop thinking about it until the second season begins. Specially after that crazy cliffhanger. I guess now I'll start watching videos analyzing every little detail.
P.S. The title credits video is also brilliant and spine-chilling. Just as unforgettable as the rest of the show. It definitely sets the tone for the show.

Alexa: Did... did you ever think about having kids? Mark: With Gemma? Alexa: Yes. Mark: Yeah, we tried for a little while. It wasn't really working. We talked about adopting at one point, but... I don't know. Then you think, "Okay. This is the life you've been given. And, uh, that's another life, and you don't get that one. So do something with this." Alexa: That's very healthy. Mark: Well, it's mostly stuff she said. She was, uh, very pragmatic. Always had a plan B. You know, one time we were supposed to go on this camping trip and... Is it weird that I'm talking about her right now? I feel like... Alexa: No, I think it's all so healthy. Mark: Yeah, but we're on a date. I... Alexa: I haven't walked out on you yet. Mark: You know, sometimes I think... she'd want me to get off my ass. And sometimes I think she's not worried about me at all. She's just pissed that she's dead. Sorry, I know this doesn't totally make sense. Alexa: She's a part of you. You know? You can't just separate yourself... Mark: Oh, no, but you can, Alexa. Alexa: Oh. Oh, shit. Mark: With this exciting new procedure. Alexa: Walked right into that. Mark: Yes. You did.

Spoiler Alert - Movie Review
TL;DR – Well, if ugly crying in the cinema surrounded by people ugly crying in a cinema is a recommendation for you, then here it is.      ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rating: 3.5 out of 5. Post-Credit Scene – There is a mid-credit sceneDisclosure – I was invited to a press screening of this film. Spoiler Alert Review – I am someone who does not mind a good cry in the cinemas. It can be cathartic and shows that the…

Film after film: Spoiler Alert (dir. Michael Showalter, 2022)
Tumblr media
There's a lot of otherwises about this visually bland film, which reduces an otherwise potentially strong supporting cast to a batch of fluffy moments, peppering the syrupy melodrama that the relationship of the two leads eventually (and understandably, because it's a real-life heart-wrenching tragedy) becomes. Based on a real-life story, it easily managed to pump plenty of teary empathy into my sarcastic heart. But I would change so much about it, starting from the casting and characterization of both Parsons (lots of material for interesting psychologizing, yet bad acting) and Aldridge (not enough material, I don't know who this character is, why?!). They meet and hook up, with some glitches that could make up for a gripping whole full feature (otherwise). He comes out to his parents, they move out, and then the story jumps 14 years ahead, and they have relationship issues, so they separate, but then he gets cancer and dies. And all of this just glides on an auto-pilot. To sum up the gay-with-a-queer-flavor mainstream-film extravaganza of the past months: Fire Island? Yes! Bros? No! Spoiler Alert? Noooo!!

I have not seen a single other person mention it in the ten years since its release but I thought the movie version of Lucky Stiff was pretty okay. This song was definitely the best scene though, "Nice" is one of my favorite Flaherty and Ahrens songs and these two sound great on it. They never released the soundtrack so I'm ripping it and posting it here for easier access.
