how do each of the clans feel about outsiders and is it different for kittypets, loners, and rogues?

good question! i go into detail on this on the toyhou.se pages for each clan, but here's a rundown:

kittypets:

Glenclan is okay with accepting them into their ranks, as long as they prove themselves loyal to their Clanmates. Foxtuft and Hawktalon both have kittypet blood.

Pineclan, being the closest to twolegplace, is the most accepting to kittypets, though Vinestar tested this a bit with his strict loyalty values. Blackreed, Heronstalk, Thicketburr and Mistybush, Sunbelly and Curlear, and Jadewing started as or are descended from kittypets.

RiftClan will accept former kittypets or their descendants as long as they can prove their loyalty, though they can be less than accepting towards their Clanmates who seek out relationships with kittypets. Oceanroar and Whiskertail both have kittypet blood.

rogues: this goes for all three Clans, but the general definition i use for rogue is "cat(s) who are hostile towards or were banished from the clans." therefore, all three are very wary towards their like. Examples include banished cats like Tangleswirl, or rogue bands like Tempest. It is rare for a rogue to be brought into a Clan, but it does happen, like with Perry and Honeyglow.

loners:

GlenClan tends to be a little hesitant towards loners, generally harmless but still outsiders. They have a great relationship with the North Face band, where Jaystorm and Hawktalon originate from. They will accept loners into their ranks.

Loners hold immediate value to PineClan cats for the outside knowledge they can bring. They are seen as outsiders, but can easily trade information for other resources the Clan has. They will accept loners into their ranks, including Nitfeather.

RiftClan is wary of all outsiders, but will hesitantly accept a loner into their ranks if they need immediate aid or can prove their loyalty. A cat taking a loner as a mate can be harshly looked down upon, but if their mate were to join the Clan they would be peacefully recieved.

So I've decided to turn permaqueens into an actual rank? I was thinking about how important it would be to have someone knowledgeable around with the queens and kits all the time, so here it is:

Guardians: Some cats may choose to trade their warrior duties for spending all of their time in the nursery. This may seem like an easy life, but these cats have many responsibilities on their shoulders. It is their job to protect the nursery, take care of kits when their dams are away, and manage the wellbeing of all of the cats in the nursery. They are usually strong and fierce fighters, as well as compassionate and caring parental figures. Often, they will learn some basic medicine from the healer, as well as the kitting process so that they can help the queens, especially if the healer is unavailable. This position is usually taken by mollies, but is not exclusively a molly position, and more than a few toms have been known to become guardians. There are usually only one or two at any given time due to limited space in nurseries.

Current guardians are Goldenglow and Rainmist of GlenClan, Shimmertail, Nitfeather and Bouncefoot of PineClan, and Meadowmoth and (later) Dustplume of RiftClan.

The queens!! All of them got a glow-up, especially Nitfeather because my g o d her old design was so bad. It looked terrible. Looks better now tho. 

Aaaanyways we have:

- Shimmertail, the oldest queen who is kinda petty and self-centered (until the whole thing with Sheen, after that she kinda wisens up and figures herself out for the sake of Galerush and Driftrunner)

- Nitfeather, a former loner and one of the forerunners of the resistance against Vinestar, she was the mate of Blackreed and is the mother of Quickwhisper and Cindershock. She despises Shimmertail for a lot of reasons, which sometimes causes a bit of drama in the nursery.

- Bouncefoot, the beloved nursery tom! He’s very soft-spoken and reserved, much like his sister Fawnstreak. His mate Mistybush got sick and died not long after their kits Fleetkit, Tumblekit, and Littlekit were born, and he took care of them until they became apprentices. He was expected to return to warrior duties, but instead stayed in the nursery as he found it much more enjoyable to take care of kits and help out the queens. He acts as a father figure for kits who don’t have one. 

- Quickwhisper, a young warrior and the youngest of the queens. Her mate is Cloverlight, and their first kit was Swiftsky. She would have returned to warrior duties after he became an apprentice, but her first kitting was hard and left her with a longer recovery period than usual. Then her niece Strikekit was born, and Tangleflower left the nursery almost immediately.. and someone had to take care of her. She tries to stay out of the drama between the two older queens, but secretly she really dislikes Shimmertail as well and tries to offer support for her mother during their more heated spats. She’s a diehard supporter of Rosestar and Hollyfrost.

which cat was the easiest to draw, hardest to draw, took the most time and took the least time?

Most cats take about the same amount of time to draw, cats with a lot of scars (like Halfskip and Ruepetal) or cats with lots of fur or weird fur shapes (like Cindershock, Screestar, or Foxtuft) tend to take a bit longer.

As for hardest to draw, or design i guess, basically any tortie or cat with a lot of stripes takes a while. Nitfeather is a REALLY good example of this, she took quite some time to make a good design for. Other cats I struggled with include Blazeflower, Ruepetal, Goldenlight, Rosestar, Driftrunner, and Meadowmoth. The easiest ones are cats with only one or two colors, or simple markings that are clearly defined and anchored to certain spots on the body. And of course, cats I draw a lot get easier with time, like Tangleflower or Larkslip.

Your clans are so cool!! Do you have any tips for making unique character designs?

Thanks!! hmmmmm what tips can I give??? I’m not good at describing my processes but I’ll try^^

For unique body shapes I generally do a rough silhouette before I start actually designing the character. When I was making the original clan ref sheets I would have a bunch of silhouettes lined up before I started actually sketching characters to make sure they were all at least somewhat unique. Each clan has specific body types that are more common among them; Glenclan tends to be large, muscular, and sleek, with thick fur and bright coats quite common, Pineclan is often smaller, sturdier, and darker, and Riftclan is either small and wiry or absolutely BUILT with pale, desaturated pelts.

I often make the shapes related to things the name or the character’s personality remind me of (for example, Fleetfox being fox-shaped or Meadowmoth having big fluffy edges that remind me of moth wings/antennae) which sort of help me translate the character better and make each one unique.

I also try to give close families of cats specific traits or colors shared between them (examples being the nose spots/scar shared between Nitfeather, Cindershock, Quickwhisper, and Strikenose, the fuzzy ears shared by Meadowmoth, Smokestorm and Minksnout, the ginger on most of the Goldenlight/Wolfshadow fam, the short tails and neck ruffs on Screestar’s kits, etc.)

Ultimately I just pick and choose around and mess with traits and colors and things until I get a design with the same vibes as the character. I’ll use objects, animals, songs, color palettes, and other peoples’ designs as inspiration while I work to get a unique feel for each character. Making sure all of the characters mesh can be a little trickier, and it’s something I’m not great with so idk if i can give any tips, but it’s certainly something to watch out for as well.
