I don’t have much interest in post-RotJ Disney canon so I hadn’t planned on reading Shadow of the Sith. Then I heard there was a Depa cameo. I checked the book out from the library as an ebook so I could quickly find the cameo without needing to read the entire book. The cameo comprises the first section of “Chapter 11: Malathon IX, Expansion Region (Then).”

The substance of the cameo, for those who can’t or may have trouble reading the screencaps: The section is written from Ochi’s POV (the dead Sith dagger guy from TROS). He was hired to kill Depa and tracked her for five days through the jungle of Malathon IX. Mace remained behind in the planet’s spaceport village; Ochi was glad of that because he thought attempting to take the bounty on Mace was suicidal. When Depa walked to a river away from the four clones she was with, Ochi drew a beskar blade and jumped out of a tree to attack her, only to be tackled into the river by Mace, who had in fact been tracking Ochi. The scene ends with Mace raising his lightsaber above Ochi. Then Ochi is woken from his memory-dream.

There isn’t more context or resolution than that. Neither Depa nor Mace appear in the book again. All we know is this incident occurred sometime during the first two years of the Clone Wars because there was no mention of Depa having a padawan and Caleb was only on Kardoa, Mygeeto, and Kaller.
