Starter Guide For WordPress SEO - Scale your website traffic until you have 100k in monthly Traffic https://www.reddit.com/r/SEO/comments/ixveia/starter_guide_for_wordpress_seo_scale_your/
Nice to meet you all.
There’s a lot of content already on SEO, but a lot of it is pretty technical and/or fluffed up. This post will attempt to explain SEO in an easy to understand way. Without further ado let’s get started.
Primer
Let’s get a few things out the way, to set your expectations properly. We are going to cover the basics of SEO optimizing your website both on page and off page. There are no tricks or secret hacks. With a lot of time and effort your website will scale. All you need is discipline
We’ll cover topics under action phrases
You will have to create good quality content, that means content that is useful or interesting
Backlinking will be a huge task you will need to create a strategy for
Once again, no tricks. Just discipline.
#1 Improve your structure
Everything in life requires a foundation, and a website is no different. Your content must be designed in a way that will make it easier for visitors to use your website.
The perfect example is Google itself. A search bar in the middle for a question, and related links at the top. So simple and obvious, but so many websites still just cram elements onto a page. Don’t do that.
Basics
- You will need to submit a stiemap.xml file to google. It’s a literal map that tells the search engine how to navigate your website. If you are on WordPress, download YoastSEO and it’ll create a sitemap for you. You will have to submit the map to Google Search Console.
- Create a proper interlinking structure. If you have a page about services you offer, it should link to a F.A.Q. about what those services cover. If you have a post about puppies, put in some links about the best puppy food, or how to train them. Make sure you link to outside sources AND internal sources. Internal linking is so easy and a HUGE SEO boost
- Optimize. Your. Images. This affects multiple facets of SEO including giving more information to Google and improving page speed. Use next-gen formats whenever possible and if you are on WordPress you can download a plugin for it. Make sure they have a keyword focused alt text, title, and a caption explaining how the image is relevant. Make sure the images themselves are named properly and not DXADAFDSF2009
- Create good meta descriptions, titles, urls, and structured content. Meta descriptions and titles are crafted by you and they will be the text that will show up and represent your website in the search listings. Make sure the title has one to two keywords and your website name. URL’s should always contain the main keyword or phrase. You can use structured content to classify your content giving Google a better idea.
- Enable SSL. It’s pretty much mandatory for good rankings for several reasons. It allows users to trust your website with their financial information reducing bounce rates, and sends a signal to google that you care about encrypting their information from hackers. Seriously get a free one from letsencrypt.
#2 - Create Quality Content
Understanding this one is more difficult because of the subjectiveness of quality. But quality just means content that is easy to read, understand, and useful. It answers the question thoughts that pop up in your head, and it leaves you wanting more info.
- Perform keyword research. Keywords are words or phrases such as “best linking strategies” or “how to SEO optimize my website”. Google is a search engine. It has created algorithms that match these phrases exactly or almost exactly. When writing content make sure they include keywords that FLOW with the content. Do not just paste keywords into sentences.
- Go for keywords that are low competition until your website starts ranking up. Once it has built more authority you can go for higher competition keywords since it will be easier to compete. Start small, get big.
- Make sure your content is informative. You are writing for people primarily. If your content is riddled with grammar mistakes, myths, bad opinions (yes they exist), then you are going to turn off a lot of people. At the end of the day, people staying on your website is the end all be all of website SEO. All the other factors are just designed around this facet.
- Understand the difference between posts and pages. Posts are for content that won’t last. Such as “Who wins the superbowl this year?” “Cute dresses to buy this spring”.Pages are for timeless content such as “About us” or “How to solve an equation”. Write pages for information, write posts for events.
- Use headings, bold, italics, underlines, sections. Whatever else you can think of to break up walls of text into engaging content. When using headings use a proper structure of biggest to last. There should only be one H1 tag on your page. You shouldn’t see an H1 heading, then an H4 heading, then a H2 heading…. Make sure it goes H1, H2, H3.
- Word count. Don’t worry about it unless you can do better than your competitor. Everyone hates fluff. Short content that is informative is better than long content that has crumbs of information.
- Write for one audience at a time. If you are a business website you want a professional and formal tone. You don’t want to talk in a more casual and relaxed fashion in the same article. Leave that for articles that are INTENDED to be casual and relaxed.
#3 - Improve your reputation
This will cover the topic of external backlinks and branding. Because they both have one goal, to make your website more reputable so that it ranks higher. Link building will be the most difficult part of the entire process.
- Share your content on social media. People use social media to search for info almost as much as search engines these days. Make sure you have a strategy for sharing on sites such as twitter, facebook, youtube, reddit, pinterest, mix, and others. Don’t forget to use hashtags. The more likes and shares your content gets the better as a backlink.
- Do competitor analysis. Find out what backlinks they are using and create your own. Sometimes it won't be possible, so look for backlinks in your industry and make them. Anchor text is important. Anchor text is the text used to describe a backlink instead of just posting the link itself. Make sure the anchor text contains a keyword.
#4 - Audit your website
SEO is a constantly evolving process because Search Engines are a constantly evolving property. Google and Bing are always looking for new ways to provide quality content for their users. You should be reviewing your webpages at least once a month to see if there is any room for improvement. A few questions you should be asking
Content
Is the content well-written? Is it still relevant?
Do elements such as images, audio, or text sections add value? Are the images stock or irrelevant?
Are there enough keywords? Links to authoritative sources of information?
Can it be longer without taking away quality?
Structure
Does the content link to an adequate number of other internal articles or web pages? Is it linked from an adequate number of other internal articles or web pages?
How fast does the web page take to load?
Are the images optimized
Reputation
How many backlinks from authoritative websites does it have? Can it be improved?
Are the backlinks from the appropriate country?
Are the links high quality?
Are there any spam or low-quality links?

15 Websites for Free Design Resources
Thinking about design freebies and resources, your mind wanders back to your internship days when you never had enough time to come up with a decent design.
Where you had to scour the whole internet for high-quality royalty-free images because those were all the resources you had available to figure with.
Often, they come short of your demands, and you've got to accept a design you'll have made tons better if only you had the proper designer resources in hand.
It doesn't do justice to the planning you already had in mind.
Luckily, I've solved half your problem and compiled an inventory of the most uncomplicated 15 Websites for free of charge Design Resources and Freebies.
1. Dribbble

Dribbble little question contains a number of the most superficial quality of freebies.

Product or brand differentiation is an age-old problem for marketers, made even worse by the relative lack of geographical barriers that exist online. When a retailer doesn’t need to differentiate itself, it probably won’t, but one of the main retail problems experienced online is how to get customers when they have so much choice. For example, most people reading this in the UK will do their weekly shop at Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Asda or Morrisons. I’m willing to bet that decision is motivated almost entirely by convenience. If you live near a Tesco, but move to the other side of town and it’s now easier to do you shopping at Asda, do you care? Probably not. The same is true of other retail sectors that have physical shops. You’re about to redecorate your bedroom and need some paint. Do you choose between B&Q, Wickes or Homebase because you have a deep affinity with them? Or do you choose whichever happens to be the easiest to drive to? When it comes to online retailers that sell similar products, at similar prices to their competitors, they simply must find a way to differentiate themselves. However, it’s not enough to simply recognise that, organisations simply must find a way to put it into practice. In this blog post we’ll be exploring two ways in which retailers differentiate themselves in their marketing, using real examples and tips for how you can do the same. Retail with a conscience In 2019 and beyond, consumers are becoming increasingly aware of social, environmental and economic issues that are facing the world, and many are taking their hard-earned money and spending it with retailers who have differentiated themselves from the competition by having a conscience. In 2016, Morgan Stanley surveyed 1000 customers in the UK for their views on clothing retailers and found that while price and quality still rank as the most important factors affecting buying decisions, ethical concerns have increased by 9% in importance since 2010, especially among the younger consumer demographics. A study of 2000 US adult internet users in 2015 found that more than half of respondents stop buying from companies they believe are unethical. It’s clear that this is a growing trend and retailers that wish to succeed and differentiate themselves in 2019 need to make sure that they’re ethical. So, what’s an example of an ethical company that succeeds? Patagonia The high-end outdoor company that’s beloved of explorers, and trendies in equal measure is also a fantastic example of a company that’s differentiated itself in its market by walking the walk, not just talking the talk. It should seem like a no brainer for an outdoor company to be ethical but Patagonia have been the trendsetters that others have followed. Patagonia’s entire supply chain is ethical which includes certified organic cotton, a high percentage of recycled fabrics, excellent labour conditions, strong animal welfare policies and a general willingness to change when issues arise. Listed as one of 2018’s most Innovative Companies, they have openly bucked the trends of other major companies trying to stay neutral on hot topics and have encouraged their staff to take days off to vote in elections, to champion environmental protections, sued the Trump administration, and even donated their unexpected $10m windfall from Trump Tax Cuts to grassroots organisations that fight the causes of climate change. It’s something that seems to be working. Every time they amplify their social mission, their revenue grows even more. In fact, it’s estimated that from 2014 to now, revenue and profits have nearly quadrupled and now stand close to $1bn. Like it or not, the younger generation of consumers are increasingly conscious of how and who they spend their money with… and retailers need to act. In fact, it’s suggested that 92% of millennials are more likely to buy products from ethical brands and retailers. If you’re a retailer rather than a brand, you may not have the flexibility to be able to make wholesale changes, however, there are a number of things you can do to appeal to the ethical concerns of your customers. Examples could include: Ensuring your logistical partners are aware of and committed to reducing their carbon footprint. Committing to your own environmental policies. It could be committing to become carbon neutral, or plastic free by a specific date. Ensuring that any external delivery providers you use are committed to respecting worker’s rights. Shout out to Hermes here who have recently committed to do doing so. Ensuring your own workers are treated properly as a minimum and go above and beyond to treat them great. For example, compare the press coverage of Sports Direct with that of Richer Sounds. Investing in your own CSR efforts. Cultivate and Embrace a Community As we’ve already discussed, it can be hard to differentiate yourself from the competition, especially if the products you sell or the service you provide is similar. Currently it’s estimated that: 93% of millennials have made a purchase based on a recommendation from a friend or relative 89% of millennials trust these recommendations over the claims of the brand itself By 2025, 75% of the American workforce will be millennials Clearly, cultivating and embracing a community of customers and advocates could ensure an organisation’s continued success. So how do you go about this when every other retailer is looking to do the same? Broadly, brands that take something unique about their brand or service and amplify it tend to perform best when it comes to creating a community. And naturally, some industries lend themselves to this better than others. Let’s have a look at one of the best examples of this happening organically, and then explore how their lawyers very nearly ruined it all. IKEA Hackers This blog, started by Malaysian IKEA fan ‘Jules Yap’ in 2006 has grown to be one of the most well-known home and DIY blogs online. It’s also spawned social media communities on Instagram, Facebook and Reddit as people post their own hacks of famous IKEA furniture. These sorts of online communities and groups are worth their weight in (flat packed) gold and many retailers spend significant amounts of time and money to grow them, so the fact that this one grew organically is even more special. Of course, IKEA aren’t the only company that sells flat pack furniture, but through their product differentiation they certainly are the most associated with modern, sleek and innovative home furniture, and they have an army of devoted fans. That’s why what happened in 2014 is even more baffling. A tl:dr version of that link is that IKEA got their lawyers involved in a trademark dispute over the small amount of advertising revenue that Jules was making from her site. As Gizmodo put it… “It’s petty and tone deaf, a rare misstep for a company that has a knack for good PR. Instead of encouraging a blogger who has spent years creating what amounts to free publicity for Ikea—and helping people find more reasons to buy products they may otherwise have overlooked—the company is bullying her over a tiny amount of advertising revenue.” Ultimately, IKEA saw sense and reversed their decision, so long as the site doesn’t contain any commercial elements. Ultimately, they must have seen the value in an engaged and devoted online community. They probably didn’t want the bad PR either. Sephora The French beauty giant Sephora quite rightly gets lauded as one of the best when it comes to growing and maintaining an online community. Their Beauty Insider forum was created off the back of thousands of online reviews and questions on their main site. It acts as a hub for their customers to share beauty tips, ask questions, and help solve others’ problems. It also allows customers to upload their latest looks with Sephora products and the platform automatically links to the products for people to purchase them directly. https://www.sephora.com/gallery/?opi=2648420102 At the time of writing there are over 3000 pages of forum entries, and the retailer themselves have barely had to lift a finger! Users have access to thousands of unbiased reviews and queries, with the added bonus that they become influencers themselves. It’s been described as “like Reddit for beauty lovers” So how do you go about creating a community? Creating a community to differentiate yourself from your competition is not easy, but if you invest the time and effort to do it properly then the effects can be priceless. Identify a theme or area to build around. In the examples we’ve seen, the people involved had a clear idea or theme to focus their efforts on. Potential members of that community are much more likely to get involved if they know what it is… obviously. Do something different. While not impossible, it’s unlikely you’re going to draw people away from an existing community if you don’t offer them something new and/or better. Identify a gap, solve a problem, do something new and exciting, or make life easier for someone. Don’t Give Up. These things take time, money and a lot of effort but if it’s done right then it’s money well spent. Have a plan and follow it through. It’s also important not to get too hung up on ROI and measurement. These things can often be based on ‘feel’ rather than raw data. Recognise when to hand it over. Ever been to a party where the host tried to force the fun? Well this is the same. Despite building it and putting in the effort, a community always belongs to the users. Allow them the freedom to express themselves as they like. Make sure to choose the right platform. If you’re making your own, then you have more autonomy but if you plan to use an existing platform then you need to consider who uses it and for what. IKEA Hackers probably isn’t very active on LinkedIn, for example. We’d love to hear some examples of online communities you’ve seen online, or perhaps you’re part of. Observation & Choice
Observation & Choice
By A Gift From Gaia
OK so as the Pisces moon becomes a distant memory, that sluggish oddness that created a stir, we are now moving into a more active space in which there is, once again, work to be done.
The MILD solar winds are still creating some gentle movement to carry us along our path, highlighting any blockages or distortions, either external or internally (in truth all is internal however until we SEE we continue to clear from the physical reality) this energy is predicted to continue for the next 24hrs however because we are deepening in the Solar Minimum the cosmic frequencies are now so incredibly high that these low level winds are not really felt, unless you are uber sensitive.
But as I woke this morning it was obvious that a new energetic day had been born, a feeling of anticipation, alertness and that recent sluggishness had completely vanished.
We are moving deeper into our depths…
And our skies are having a little bit of a Square Off
Mercury Square Neptune, the planet of the mind and communication, meets the God of Divine Waters, what a perfect combination to receive! However what you receive will be entirely based on your frequency, if you have things to be revealed then it will be heading in. This square can highlight anxiety and nervousness as our channels open up widely to accept the download we receive from Neptune.
For those who are unaware Neptune in the higher octave of Venus, so if Venus represents the physical idea of love, which is ego attachment then Neptune represents the purest of love, unconditional everything. So whilst the collective move through the realisation of the lack of love within Neptune often holds a kick-ass energy that highlights where you are devoid of unconditional love, which equates to many folk believing that the Universe is conspiring against them, which of course it isnt, its simply showing you where you need to open, where you need to show up, where you are not standing in your Sovereignty.
So confusion and misinterpretation will be obvious to most, and there is no better time to practice the golden keys of Observation and Choice, these keys assist you in moving consciously through your timeline. Also be aware of naivety which often highlights during these squares, ask why, do your research….dont take my word for it!
Neptune is also in a sextile with Venus, so the opportunity to come into alignment here is simply magical and by choosing to Align to Truth will allow those beautiful Divine Frequencies to carry you swiftly into your new awaiting timeline, this beautiful stream of energy allows us to experience the unconditional version of you, but hey once you take a bite of that apple you arent going back….but why would you want to?
But then we have this little chunky monkey creating yet more emotional stirrings as the Moon squares not only Saturn Rx and Pluto Rx but also the Moons nodes – on the one hand many of you will be getting used to these alignments, its the same old drill, you are either looking at something highly karmic that must now end or in the higher octaves, once you have healed the emotional traumas and released much of the programming, these energies become like a new build, the first floor to your already stable foundations, we realise how much we have expanded whilst looking through the windows such as social media, seeing the screams for help as people think they are drowning in the surf, you often find yourself in the position of the lighthouse as those who resonate are drawn to you for your wisdom.
Cosmic surfers create magic during high frequencies whereas those yet to learn to surf get tossed around in the waves…….
The moon is trine Jupiter which is highly fortunate, huge advancements can be made, abundance will be received….this too is a personal perspective… And Venus is sextile the Moons Nodes which again opens up a channel to release and receive.
The surf is loud angels, many of you will be entering the cocoon stage and many are now leaving and if you are one of those leaving may I suggest you take things really slow, allow those new wings to dry out before taking flight.
We are accelerating and you will find your glass ceiling hovering over your belief systems
Crack the codes to fly high 💙💙💙

Free Facebook Traffic - How to Create Facebook Fanpages that Go Viral (w/ Anthony Morrison)
How to get free Facebook traffic & how to create viral Facebook fanpages (w/ Anthony Morrison).
%BA%BA Free Ebook - How to Make $10K/Month Online: this video (featuring our special guest, multi-millionaire Anthony Morrison who made his fortune selling online) we teach you how to generate FREE Facebook traffic. The method is very simple:
Step 1: Create a Facebook fanpage about the niche you 19re selling in (e.g. if you have a store about camping, you can create a Facebook fanpage about camping).
Step 2: Post content that people who are interested in camping will like. As this content goes viral, more people will see it, and they will like your page.
Step 3: Direct your fanbase to your website - so if you 19ve got a fanpage built up of people who are interested in camping, you can then send them to your store where you dropship camping supplies!
As you can see, the key is being able to find the right content that will go viral and will give you free Facebook traffic. Here are our 5 tips for making your Facebook posts go viral:
Tip #1 for generating free Facebook traffic: Use image sharing sites like Reddit, Pinterest & Instagram to find viral-worthy images
Most people struggle because they don 19t know how to find super-popular content. Luckily, these websites do the hard work for you. The most popular content on Facebook is photos and images, and you can build up a popular fanpage just by focusing solely on images and photos. The trick is in finding the best ones!
* On reddit, be sure to go to /r/pics and search exclusively within that subreddit. Type in the search bar a keyword related to your fanpage. Sort by highest rated photos of all time. Doing this, you 19ll find the most popular images on Reddit in your niche.
* On instagram, all you need to do is sign in and then do a search for your keyword. You 19ll find top rated photos immediately.
* Pinterest is the same. Just do a search for your keyword, and you 19ll find top rated photos immediately.
Tip #2 for generating free Facebook traffic: Encourage people to tag their friends in your posts
This is Anthony Morrison 19s tip. When you create a Facebook post, ask people to tag three friends (e.g. if you make a post featuring an image of a resort, ask everyone to tag three friends that they would take to the resort). As everyone tags their friends, it draws more people to the post, making it spread and go viral.
Tip #3 for generating free Facebook traffic: Use external links in your Facebook posts sparingly
Not all of your Facebook posts should include external links to your websites. The reason for this is that the Facebook algorithm favours posts that do not include external links. Why? Because Facebook 19s main goal is to keep people within the website. If your post sends people out of Facebook, then it doesn 19t like it, so your posts have an inbuilt disadvantage against those that don 19t externally link.
This doesn 19t mean that external links can 19t go viral. They absolutely can: But it 19s a lot easier to get a post to go viral if it doesn 19t include an external link.
For posts designed to build up your fanpage base, don 19t include external links. Save those for promotional posts.
Tip #4 for generating free Facebook traffic: The Facebook Algorithm Rewards Consistent Posting
Another tip from Anthony Morrison. The Facebook algorithm favours consistency in posting. If it see 19s you post every day, it is going to favour your posts and show them to more of your fans. If it see 19s that you are posting sporadically, it is not going to prioritize your posts. We recommend posting at least once a day (remember: You can schedule posts in advance).
Tip #5 for generating free Facebook traffic: Use Reverse Image Search to Steal Ideas from Your Competitors
Another way to create posts that will go viral on Facebook is to find out the source of your competitors images. To do this, do a reverse image search:
1. Pick a popular photo on your competitor's Facebook fanpage.
2. Right click on the image, and copy the image URL.
3. Go to TinEye, a reverse image site, and paste in the image URL address.
4. Go through the results and locate the original source of the photo. Now you know a great source of images that have the potential to go viral on Facebook!
So those are our 5 tips for creating posts that go viral on Facebook, bringing in free Facebook traffic for you. If you liked this video, please like and subscribe for more!

Are no-follow links good for SEO?
If you open a book on SEO, terms like page index, bots, do-follow links, no-follow links are relevant: these elements help master Google search algorithms. However, these algorithms change over time, leaving some webmasters behind the competition.
Not all links are created equal. Experts believe that it is important to gain referral traffic from trusted and popular sources and so gain more value from link building. However, the results can take longer to come: you will not get top positions on SERP in one day. Webmasters have to try hard to establish your online presence. One of the ways to succeed is to gain referrals from trusted resources.
If a popular third-party website refers to your pages, your web presence on Google search can skyrocket. However, there are cases when you might source success from an unexpected place: a no-follow link. Wondering if no-follow links are good for SEO? We will discuss the basic things about them and uncover their potential benefit for your web presence.

The story behind the no-follow tag in an HTML link
Back to the golden era of blogging, automated link building services where in huge demand. This was because external links mattered as they were the main determinate of a website’s placement in SERP rankings. When spammers found out the true value of a certain HTML tag link for Google search rankings, they tried to boost the number of external links, often promoting poor-quality websites.
Google’s experts — Matt Cutts and Jason Shellon — came up with the idea to overcome the negative effects of over spamming with the help of a no-follow tag in an HTML link, whereby the link would not affect page ranking at all.
Why no-follow links are SEO-friendly?
In theory, a no-follow link is not helpful for boosting SEO results. Search engines will not count a no-follow link while it doesn’t add any value. On the other hand, webmasters can use a no-follow attribute to protect a website from malicious spammers, and this tool can be used to counter untrusted sources. Google differentiates between a no-follow link and a do-follow link. Let us examine how exactly it happens.
A no-follow link provides better exposure to new audiences
When applied wisely, a no-follow link can drive referral traffic easily. If you place a no-follow link on a certain place on your website and surround it with authentic content, you will attract more visitors. This happens because everyone is in love with interesting content, both search engines like Google and ordinary consumers.
When do no-follow links work for better SEO in blogging?
You have to create the content that is:
Engaging
Original
Useful
Professional
Authentic
The latest blogging trend is to emphasize quality over quantity. How does this translate into effective SEO?
The latest research claims that bloggers put more and more effort to create unique entertaining content. The majority of bloggers who spend more than 6 hours per typical post are pleased with the results. Now imagine how much value a no-follow link can bring when put on a page with high-quality content!
A no-follow link affects the performance of your website! Try to create high-quality content overflowing with entertaining ideas, either in text or image formats. A not-so-obvious red flag that the site is not credible is the absence of no-follow links. A decent number of no-follow backlinks will help to engage the audience. That means more real people (instead of bots) are likely to refer to a web page with entertaining content.
A safe way to spread the word about your brand, a no-follow link can draw traffic to your website, and more importantly, help ensure your visitors are real people with real interests.
A no-follow link can make your website trustworthy
There exist a number of ways to assess your website’s performance. Some of them aim at measuring the design of your site while others focus on SEO rankings. Users can ask themselves an important good question: why should they trust you if you don’t appear on the first page of SERP?
No-follow links are taken into account when measuring the authority of your website. Analytics tools like Alexa Rank or AMP Checker can deliver a verdict: it is a safe way to promote your products and you don’t have to rely on unsafe and unfair paid referral links. Some even say Google respects the practice of putting no-follow links on websites.
A no-follow link can improve search rankings
It is common knowledge Google Penguin and other tools punish websites using unfair practices. If you overcrowd your website with too many do-follow or no-follow links, you will be ban from SERPs and labeled as untrustworthy.
One should always make an effort to strike a balance in the numbers of follow and no-follow backlinks and referral links, and this can even be a path to success in Google search.
Nevertheless, the public opinion about no-follow links is not clear: almost 50 percent of respondents label rel=”nofollow” element as spam:
Experts claim that Shopify SEO performance on the web is affected by numerous factors, apart from trustworthy referrals. These include:
Click-through rates
Bounce rates
Loading speed
Unique meta tags
Social media presence
Correct URLs, etc.
It is hard to deny the overwhelming trend that dominates the Internet in USA, and statistics back this up: backlinks come in a close second to Facebook sharing as the main most decisive factor in Google search rankings in the USA:
With this in mind, why not spend some time creating a useful post that will boost traffic?
On the way to a balanced link bio: places to earn no-follow backlinks and referral links
Some places like Wikipedia boast relevant referral links everyone wants to get. What are the other trustworthy places on the web?
Reddit — this popular web community is full of both biased and unbiased news, and you can direct significant traffic to your site this way
Blog Comments — a great place to put a do-follow and a no-follow link to attract attention
Press releases — these have exposure to large audiences (almost 80 percentof humans read news online) and so grant a lot of room for adding backlinks and referral links
Quora — links from answers on this resource can have a dramatic impact on search engine rankings
How to fulfill a dream of any SEO wizard?
A respected resource puts a do-follow link referring to your website. Excited? You should be. This is the stuff of a webmaster’s wildest dreams and almost guarantee a spike in traffic.
However, a more subtle, slower burning effect can be achieved by a no-follow backlink from Wikipedia or some other trusted media resource. Slow, not so evident and immediate, a no-follow element can attract valuable organic traffic over the long-term.
Your website engages with the consumers, encouraging them to share, like, and follow your content, thus boosting your revenues. What else do website owners need to be happy?

Reddit Launches Judicious Redesign
Reddit, the self-proclaimed ‘front page of the internet’ is getting its first redesign since the heady days of IE7, and George W. Bush’s presidency.
First announced over a year ago, the challenge for Reddit’s in-house team of 22, has been how to update the platform to appeal to new users whose expectations are much evolved from the early web, without alienating old Reddit users comfortable with the status quo.
Reddit has often been hailed as an example of a site that prospers without design; if Reddit can thrive with the same old clunky UI, then why should any company invest in design services. In actuality Reddit established itself using an early version of iterative design. Most of its most recognizable features were developed and integrated without the pomp and ceremony of a full redesign.
Reddit currently serves …4.5% of the human race
Then in 2008, everything stalled. The original founders—now back at the helm—were replaced by a series of CEOs unable to cope with the demands of a site the scale of Reddit. If anything, 2018’s redesign is a return to the approach that first secured Reddit’s place on the web.
Reddit currently serves almost a third of a billion users—that’s just shy of 4.5% of the human race. When taking on a redesign of this size, only one thing is really certain: some users will love it, others will hate it, others will wait and see what others think and then furiously retweet opinions late into the night.
If you redesign Reddit…you’re inherently changing the internet.
~ Diego Perez, Reddit’s Head of Design, speaking to Wired
From a design perspective, it’s always difficult to critique a design without being party to the brief, without sitting in on the feedback meetings, without a detailed understanding of what the challenge is for Reddit. Like a game of Jeopardy! we have the answer, what matters is whether it matches the question.
Reddit’s design challenge is more complex than most because as a site, it had been left to seed. A wild west of different communities, each with their own ideas, the new site design has to unify them all, without threatening the independent spirit that makes them what they are.
Wired have published the inside story of the redesign, which is a fascinating read, but certainly glosses over the more challenging parts of the process. Reddit we’re told, employed just two UX researchers to assess the onboarding experience; their research process was to wander around outside Reddit HQ approaching different people with their laptops.
With a decade of neglect, an opinionated user base, and fewer resources than many startups, it’s a minor miracle that Reddit’s design team delivered anything at all.
it’s a minor miracle that Reddit’s design team delivered anything at all
As of today, 1% of users will see the new design. Over the coming months the new design will be rolled out globally. There are three design options for users to choose from: Classic view (basically old Reddit with the new features added), Card view (how most users will use the site), and Compact view (for scanning content quickly). In any other context I’d take the view that three different ‘designs’ indicate a difference of opinion in the design process that hadn’t been properly resolved. In Reddit’s case it feels like an acknowledgement of the different needs of different groups.
Card view (left), Classic view (center), Compact view (right)
Snoo, the site’s mascot has also received an update. Now, instead of standing around looking dopey, he’s dynamic and expressive. The reimagining of Snoo, and its integration into the brand from illustrations to Snoomojis, is excellent. While a cutesy mascot is not everyone’s cup of tea, if you’re going to do it, you may as well do it well.
The UI design is not entirely successful though. The menu bar has been replaced by a menu stuck to the top left corner of the UI. These types of menus are popular with designers—they crop up a lot on design showcases—but rarely test well with users. I’d be surprised if that decision isn’t revoked at the next iteration.
Much of the redesign is intentionally invisible, with efforts being diverted into areas that only Reddit users will notice, such as the ability to post text and images in a single post, or the introduction of WYSIWYG controls for formatting. The most significant design changes are the less obvious ones: the welcome decision to ignore Material Design, posts opening in modals instead of new windows, the stylistic distinction between internal and external links.
Reddit’s redesign is almost invisible. Like most successful redesigns it strikes a judicious balance between where the site is, and where it wants to be.
