“Itazura na Kiss: Love in Tokyo 2″
123.
Title: Itazura na Kiss~Love in Tokyo 2
Genre: Romantic, Comedy
Season: Fall 2014
TV Station: Fuji TV
Theme Song: “Kiss Kiss Kiss” by Cyntia (Opening); “White Stock” by Cyntia (Ending)
Starring: Yuki Furukawa, Miki Honoka, Yuki Yamada, Yoji Tanaka, Koura Kazumasa, Tomomi Nishimura, Yuga Aizawa, Noemie Nakai, Arata Horii
Date Finished: August 4, 2018
My Personal Reason for Watching: Well, I watched 1, so I had to watch 2!
(^^Naoki and Kotoko together again!)
I’m back again with another drama review!(^O^)/
The second season of Itazura na Kiss~Love in Tokyo picks up with the now married Naoki (Furukawa) and Kotoko (Honoka) in college. Naoki is getting ready to become a doctor while Kotoko tries her hardest to become a nurse so she can work beside her husband.
I reviewed the first season of Itazura na Kiss: Love in Tokyo right here. The same with my first review, I had a very hard time watching Kotoko sometimes. I know Japan is a male dominated society, but watching stories like this push feminism in Japan back a few steps. I know, I know—it’s a cute romantic-comedy with the clumsy girl and the cool guy. I shouldn’t be thinking too much into it. BUT come on, Kotoko! Do you really not have any independence whatsoever?? Is Naoki all you think about 24/7?? Also, why do you call your husband by your last name when you, too, have the same last name?
(^^”I just love him so much!” Okay, calm down, Kotoko!)
Also, I think they made Kotoko dumber this season. Every episode was Kotoko making mistakes and Naoki showing up, acting all cold, but still looked cool in Kotoko’s eyes. Kotoko did have a couple of her own suitors even though her love for Naoki would never waver. A fellow nursing student, Keita (Horii), fell in love with Kotoko and, honestly, I actually liked him better than Naoki in their short-lived love triangle.
(^^Then, again, if Keita falls for Kotoko, I really don’t trust his sense of judgment of others)
I did like the fact that Kinnosuke (Yamada) got his own love interest in Chris (Nakai). They were cute in the end even though he acted cold to her like Naoki did to Kotoko (and Yuki to Yoshimi). Girls, if guys are jerks to you, why do you keep falling for them?? If it’s because they like you, that’s wrong. They should show you they like you by actually caring for you and not doing the opposite. But I do like the character trope of cold guys being only warm to the girls they love (I know, such a cliché), so I’m not one to say anything (^^;;)
(^^Aww Kin-chan and Chris!)
I know this review was mostly being harsh on Kotoko. I’m all for character development, but it just didn’t happen for her or Naoki this season. It’s a cute story and something you can put on when you just don’t want to think, but overall, I think there are better romantic-comedy J-dramas out there. There was no need for a second season, so I definitely recommend season 1 over season 2.
Favorites:
Favorite Character: Probably, Kin-chan and Keita.
Favorite Episode: Probably the episodes with the budding love triangle amongst Kotoko, Naoki, and Keita (episodes 6 or 7)
Favorite Scene: The last scene with Kotoko and Naoki walking with their daughter and Sky Tree is in the background was actually a nice ending.
“Itazura na Kiss: Love in Tokyo 2″ Rating:
Story: ✭✭ (Cute, but not for me)
Acting: ✭½ (I love Yuki Furukawa, but everyone just really overacts in this drama—but, then, again it is a not-so-serious drama)
Theme Song: ✭✭½ (both songs fit the intro and outro of the drama)
Total: 6/15
Next Up: Kazoku Game or Ossan’s Love
(^^Happy family)

Weird Age Gaps In Mischievous Kiss
I used to be obsessed with Mischievous Kiss until I figured out the age difference between the two leads. That information and the information I got from further researching since no one spoke on it gave me a weird feeling when watching the show.
Honoka Yahagi (Kotoko) was 16 when they started filming. Yuki Furukawa (Naoki) was ten years older. Even the second love interest Yuki Yamada (Kinnosuke) was older than her by nine years. This makes certain scenes questionable when you realize their age gap.
If you still think this isn't that serious, take into account Kotoko's friends age. The actors who played Kotoko's best friends were 16 - 17. And her other friends were around the same age as her in Mischievous Kiss 2. There were only a few people (like the girl who played Chris) who had about a five year age gap with her (which wasn't really bad because they weren't her love interests). It's as if they had no problem casting people around the same age as her if they were her friends, but when it came to love interests, they were older. Even the man who played Kieta in Mischievous Kiss 2 was older. Of course, their age gap wasn't really big (she was 16 - 17 and he was around 21) but it's weird when you realize everyone cast as her love interest was an adult.
Also, when you look at the ages of Kotoko's ex-love interests and ex-rivals (the ones who moved on), they were given someone around the same age as them. Kinnosuke (Yuki Yamada) and Chris (Noemie Nakai) were adults at the time and had a two year age difference. Matsumoto (Kanna Mori) liked Naoki. They were adults at the time and only had a one year age difference. Masumoto moved on with Sudo (Masaki Kaji who played the tennis teacher), and in real life, they were around the same age.
That's undeniably weird, but maybe I'm thinking about it too much . . .

Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead Universe Is Here to Stay
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
Despite his exit from Warner Bros’ big-screen DC movie universe, director Zack Snyder isn’t done with shared universes just yet. And while his tenure as the creative lead of the DCEU, which culminated with this year’s Snyder Cut of Justice League, may have been polarizing to say the least, the Army of the Dead director may actually be just what Netflix needed.
After years of chasing ways to build its own coveted blockbuster shared universe, such as with its failed attempt to launch a superhero universe based on Mark Millar’s Jupiter’s Legacy, the streaming service finally seems to have the foundation it was looking for with Snyder’s return to the genre that turned him into an A-lister back in 2004. In fact, Army of the Dead was originally conceived as a sequel to Snyder’s Dawn of the Dead remake, but almost two decades later, it’s grown much bigger than that.
Even before Army of the Dead introduced us to Snyder’s vision of a zombified Vegas strip in May, Netflix already had plans to expand this world beyond just one action movie. The streamer greenlit a prequel heist movie starring Matthias Schweighöfer’s goofy safecracker Ludwig Dieter, as well as an anime prequel series, soon after striking the partnership with Snyder. As the centerpiece of this fledgling zombie universe, Army of the Dead set up many opportunities for future sequels and spinoffs, too. There could be aliens, robot zombies, or even trippy time loops in future Army installments, and Mexico City is almost certainly doomed in the recently announced sequel. And judging from the audience response to the first movie, most viewers are willing to go along for the ride.
Some might say Netflix has nailed the shared universe formula with the most unlikely source at the helm. Despite the fervor with which his most passionate fans defend his work, Snyder’s contributions to the DCEU are still heavily debated years later. There are those fans who love his grittier, darker take on the DC pantheon, while others believe universe kickstarters Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice tanked DC’s chances to compete with Marvel Studios from the beginning.
But regardless of what you think of the quality of his work (we gave Army of the Dead three out of five stars), it’s clear that Snyder’s name attracts viewers — even if some only tune in to see how the over-the-top director has outdone himself this time. The movie got 75 million views in its first month, making it the 9th most watched English language film of all time on Netflix, and securing the immediate future of the franchise. Army of the Dead 2, which will once again be directed and co-written by Snyder, is now in development, but it won’t shoot until after the director has completed work on his space-set sci-fi film Rebel Moon, also coming to Netflix.
In the meantime, there are other corners of the Army of the Dead universe to explore, including the backstory of Dieter, who met an ambiguous end in Snyder’s movie at the hands of alpha zombie leader Zeus (it actually isn’t all that clear whether he’s actually really dead, but it’s likely). Schweighöfer directed Army of Thieves himself from a script by Shay Hatten, who also co-wrote Army of the Dead. The film also stars Nathalie Emmanuel, Guz Khan, Ruby O. Fee, Stuart Martin, Jonathan Cohen, Noemie Nakai, and Peter Simonischek as the titular thieves who attempt to pull off a heist six years before the events of Snyder’s movie, just at the start of the zombie outbreak in Vegas.
During the Army of Thieves panel at SDCC@Home, Netflix revealed the first trailer, which promises even more Dieter shenanigans and funny quips:
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });
Army of the Dead isn’t wasting any time when it comes to TV animation, either. An anime series called Lost Vegas “chronicles the origin story of Scott (Dave Bautista) and his rescue crew during the initial fall of Vegas as they confront the mysterious source of the zombie outbreak,” per Netflix. Jay Oliva (Trese) will serve as showrunner, with Snyder directing two episodes of the series.
By the sound of it, Lost Vegas should shed more light on Zeus’ original rampage through the strip as well as Scott’s adventures with Vanderohe (Omari Hardwick) and “Soccer Mom” (Danielle Burgio) in the opening credits sequence of the movie. Will this installment finally confirm that the zombie virus really is alien?
Like the MCU with Thanos or the DCEU Snyderverse with Darkseid, the Army of the Dead universe could use its next few installments to slowly draw out its true big bad. There are several scenes in the movie that tease that the zombies are only the surface level threat, with alien invaders or Hiroyuki Sanada’s Bly Tanaka (whom some suspect to be a Devil-like figure who’s trapped Scott and his team in an endless time loop) pulling all the strings. There’s also the U.S. Defense Department trying to build its own zombie army.
And unlike with the DCEU, it seems that Snyder will actually get to see all of these plot threads through.
Army of Thieves is out later this year. Lost Vegas hits Netflix in 2022.
