I hear it all the time- “oh, you own a CrossFit. I don’t do it because I don’t want to lose my gains” 😂 “you guys cheat your pull ups”. What most people don’t understand is that strict work is the foundation of any good CrossFit program and the “cheated” reps are not that at all. They are gymnastics based movements using Kipping and butterfly movements. While you can still build muscle doing them that way- those movements are used for conditioning NOT strength. My heart rate can easily get over 170 bpm in a metcon doing butterfly pull ups or kipping handstand push ups. This video is from Monday.
