Finally got some nom-onauts stuff together!

Here's my headcannons of the main 3!

Obviously, Barnacles is a massive Pred. I feel like he wasn't really too comfortable with the idea of his crew being eaten at first, but he definitely warms up to it after a while.

It allows him to shield and protect his crew and gives him an excuse to keep his family close to him.

He tries to restrain himself to only swallowing his crew when there's an emergency or they're being too reckless. But sometimes, if he doesn't eat for a while or if he's feeling particularly protective, it isn't too uncommon to find him with a belly full of crew.

He also absolutely uses this for timeouts. Particularly with Kwazii when he's being a menace or Shellington when he doesn't take care of himself well enough (because you KNOW the captain is hypocritical like that).

He's a HORRIBLE prey, though. Since he's claustrophobic, he'd probably be on the edge of a panic attack the whole time and generally not good to deal with. He'll accept being eaten in dire emergencies and such, so he's only actually been swallowed like 3 times.

He tastes like ice cream on a fresh blueberry pie

I think Kwazii would be the first one to start swallowing crew members. Even before Barnacles... and he probably tried to keep it secret for a while, too.

Kwazii gives massive pred vibes. He probably leans just a little into the fear play aspect at times, with his mischievous, piratey attitude, but he's a really gentle pred in reality. He loves nomming the crew as a prank or just surprising them with it for his own amusement... though Barnacles isn't fond of that behavior.

He'd be willing to eat a crewmate any day of the week, and when nobody can find a crew member on the ship, he's the first one they look to.

He ends up in tummy time out A LOT. And sometimes, the crew will just get back at him for his mischief by swallowing him. He claims being prey is embarrassing to him, but he secretly doesn't mind all that much. The warmth is nice, and tummies make for a comfy bed, though his pride would never let him admit it.

He tastes like citrus and honey

Peso was probably one of the last few to learn about the nomfs going on, and he still hasn't fully gotten used to it yet.

He's definitely a prey for a variety of reasons. He's (at least one of) the smallest of the crew and most prone to panicking, meaning he's usually the first Barnacles swallows in a crisis. He's the main target of Kwazii's shenanigans since he always gives good reactions no matter how desensitized he is to it. He's also a medic, so when one of the crew isn't feeling well, internal checkups are a useful thing to be able to perform.

He gets eaten a lot and will usually offer himself up as a snack if someone isn't feeling well or if they're too stubborn to eat real food (looking at you, Barnacles).

He has ended up in a pred role, but only a very few times. He's not really as comfortable with the idea of actually swallowing his crewmates... he doesn't want to scare them!

He makes for a pretty anxious pred, always keeping a flipper over his stomach and constantly checking in to make sure his cargo is fine.

Massive thanks to both @boiled-ginger-ale and @the-sussy-imposter2 for getting this vore side of the fandom out there first so I'm not the only one! Their art n stuff is crazy good, highly recommend

ok so, Barnacles is canonically claustrophobic which makes him the best pred and most anxious prey alive. the crew will not eat him unless its an absolute emergency and even then he is bordering on a panic attack the whole time; shroom has a plotline where kwazii scoops him up when he hurts his arm before his phobia is known and he freaks out

kwazii is very switch coded despite his efforts to be more pred- he's been put in tum timeout for shenanigans on multiple occasions. very adhd and bouncy both as pred and prey; generally pretty theatrical but will get really protective if theres any actual danger. purrs up a storm when hes got crew inside

peso is usually more prey coded but is willing to house anyone if they ask; i think shroom headcanons them with a healing stomach? he would do internal checkups i think and definitely offers himself up if anyone forgets to eat (cough cough barnacles) definitely kwaziis favorite snack

i have more and for the rest of the crew but those are the main three

i think shroom is gonna start posting about them too ( @the-sussy-imposter2 ) if you need more people to bother

from discord rambles: kwazii is at first kinda averse to the whole "eating people" thing, but instincts still get bad and the crew can tell its starting to weigh on him, so eventually peso sucks it up, warns the captain hes gonna try and help kwaz, runs off. barnacles is basically backup if anything goes wrong, but as is very obvious hes not actually needed- peso is more than fine and kwazii is,, uh,, content lol

So uh, here's Shellington... I'm really proud of this drawing, actually

Shellington probably found out about the noms pretty early on, though he didn't get involved for a while.

Shellington was a bit tough for me, but I think he'd be more prey-leaning. Think of all the new data you could get researching stomachs from physically inside! He tends to get so excited and wrapped up in his research that he has to be pried away from any stomach he finds himself in. He's also a pretty common victim of tummy timeouts since he overworks himself so much or just forgets to take care of himself. The captain is NOT letting that slide.

Naturally, he's a pretty curious prey. If you let him in, be prepared for a bit of poking and a LOT of rambling. He'll talk for hours if he isn't stopped, and as a captive audience, you're kinda forced to deal with it.

He's a pred, too, though. He finds the concept intriguing, taking notes on how it feels and stuff. Snacking on crewmates also keeps his belly full enough so Barnacles doesn't nag him about it... not that anyone gets swallowed when they already have someone inside of them.

Also, he totally has notes on how every octonaut tastes. At least, the ones that will let him eat them.

He's a gentle pred, always asking a couple of times if his prey is sure and ready and such, and very polite (if nervous) about asking if he can eat someone. Though after a while, especially if he's not specifically researching how it feels to have someone in his stomach or something, it's not uncommon for him to forget he has someone inside of him, so he usually needs reminders to spit them out.

so, the professor is probably the most likely to have prior experience being eaten even before joining the crew because some of his family is huge!!! erving for example, totally big enough to swallow inkling, and they probably used to do it occasionally just like, because(??)

so when barnacles has his flareup and swallows inkling for the first time(before they know whats going on) hes not super stressed about the situation beyond the confusion and suddenness of it all(this is in relation to me n shroom's au thingy) even tho everyone else in the crew is freaking tf out

prof ink would honestly probably really enjoy being stored, the warmth, ambience, enclosed space, its no different from when he was younger and he has no issue being a snack for any of the crew

being the shelter i also don't think he'd mind super much, but he probably doesn't do it quite as much because he's just a bit reserved in my mind and wouldn't know what to do with himself during it, would likely just sit and read, although would also be very gentle and understanding in most situations so good for stressed out guys

also since he's an octopus doesn't he kinda need to stay damp? i'm not totally sure how octopi work but maybe he camps out inside barnacles during their longer land missions like when they were trapped on the skeleton coast

10/10 prey, 7/10 pred, would eat the calamari if given the chance

This vore prompt is brought to you by: a really random dream I had

A huge robot who's been shut down for a hundred years, abandoned and rusting in a cave or smth

A mechanic comes along and finds this masterpiece of tech and decides to fix it up and see if it'll work again. It takes years to find all the parts they need to replace, but finally, all that's left is the wiring and internal work.

The mechanic gets inside the robot through an access panel in its chest (or through its mouth. That works too) but while they're working on the robot's internal system, they accidentally trigger the "emergency lockdown" system, effectively trapping them inside.

While trying to fix their mistake, they also accidentally power on the robot itself!

When it wakes up, the robot is obviously quite confused with the tiny tickle it keeps feeling inside them, but once it realizes there's someone inside who's trying to communicate with it, it calms down a little.

Unfortunately, the robot is unable to turn off the lockdown, so they need to work together to get the prey out!

It takes a while for the robot to get used to their new tiny companion, and even longer for the prey to get used to being trapped in a giant, sentient hunk of metal, but they eventually figure themselves out
