I love grabbing a coffee from the Coffee Guy in the morning prior to gates opening at @newportfolkfest and heading over to the line. I get to chat with old friends and cherry pick images of the scene. This little busker was too cute. Front of the line strumming away and excited for the weekend. Never know, in 15 years she could be headlining the Fort Stage. Crazier things have happened. 24 hours before the gates open in 2016 for @newportfolkfest. As fans we don't see the day in and day out grind that goes into producing and creating a festival. It's a 24/7 365 job. Pictured in the foreground is creative director Chris "Caps"Capotosto and at the desk producer Jay Sweet. Each taking a couple seconds to decompress and regroup. I only wish I could add sound to this image. In the adjacent room in the production trailer the phones are ringing of the hook and the emails for last minute requests are coming at Brittany Ryan and her team at light speed. They take the brunt of the storm. Triaging the chaos of challenges as they trickle in. It is intense. I try my best to keep clear of this area until after the last performance on Sunday. But naturally as photographer I like to capture these moments. Wasn't the dust settles it's nice to remember the craziness of it all and have a laugh or a cry... 😁. Shooting Newport Folk is as much about shooting the amazing group of people that come together each year to collectively make it a success. Can't wait to get to the fort in a few days and watch the crew put the finishing touches on 2017!!
