Diabolik Lovers Survey 2020 Results
This year I got 138 responses in total, which is close to double the number I got in 2019 (74 responses) so a big thank you to all of you for taking part and for those who helped to promote it! Now onto the results:
Question 1. Who is your favorite DL character?
1. Subaru Sakamaki (18 votes) (3rd in CL poll, joint 4th in 2019 survey) 2. Shu Sakamaki (16 votes) (1st in CL poll, 1st in 2019 survey) 3. Ruki Mukami (13 votes) (4th in CL poll, joint 6th in 2019 survey) 4. Laito Sakamaki (12 votes) (8th in CL poll, 10th in 2019 survey) 5. Ayato Sakamaki (11 votes) (2nd in CL poll, 3rd in 2019 survey) 6. Reiji Sakamaki (10 votes) (9th in CL poll, 2nd in 2019 survey) 6. Carla Tsukinami (10 votes) (11th in CL poll, 4th in 2019 survey) 6. Kanato Sakamaki (10 votes) (6th in CL poll, joint 6th in 2019 survey) 9. Azusa Mukami  (8 votes) (12th in CL poll, 13th in 2019 survey) 9. Yui Komori (8 votes) (7th in CL poll, no votes in 2019 survey) 11. Yuma Mukami (7 votes) (10th in CL poll, joint 6th in 2019 survey) 12. Shin Tsukinami (6 votes) (14th in CL poll, joint 11th in 2019 survey) 13. Kino (3 votes) (13th in CL poll, joint 11th in 2019 survey) 14. Kou Mukami (1 vote) (5th in CL poll, joint 6th in 2019 survey) 14. Richter (1 votes) (did not feature in CL poll, no votes in 2019 survey)
Note: 3 people said they didn’t have a favorite character and 1 person skipped the question. Karlheinz, Beatrix, Cordelia, Christa and Yuri were all available options but they did not receive any votes. I’ve included where they came in the CL poll (the most recent official popularity poll) to show how the results compare. Below you can also see how the voting breaks down compared to the 2019 survey.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While I was a little surprised that Subaru managed to dethrone Shu as the fandom’s overall favorite, I was not surprised by him, Shu, Ruki and Ayato all featuring in the top 5 considering their rankings in the CL poll. Laito also managed to sneak his way in there but considering that he was the winner of the 2018 survey, that wasn’t much of a surprise to me either.
The thing that I really don’t understand is what on Earth happened with Kou. Up until 24 hours before the survey closed, he didn’t have a single vote (lone Kou fan, thank you for stepping up), despite doing pretty well in the CL poll and the 2019 survey. If anyone has any theories on where all the Kou fans have gone then let me know because I am baffled.
Anyway, onto the rest of the survey, because this post is extremely long, I’ve put the rest below the cut.
Question 2. Who is your least favorite diaboy?
1. Kanato Sakamaki (42 votes) (1st in 2019 survey) 2. No least favorite (15 votes) (2nd option in 2019 survey) 3. Kino (14 votes) (3rd in 2019 survey) 4. Ruki Mukami (12 votes) (joint 6th in 2019 survey) 5. Ayato Sakamaki (10 votes) (4th in 2019 survey) 6. Carla Tsukinami  (9 votes) (no votes in 2019 survey) 7. Reiji Sakamaki (7 votes) (joint 6th in 2019 survey) 8. Shin Tsukinami (6 votes) (joint 6th in the 2019 survey) 8. Azusa Mukami (6 votes) (joint 10th in 2019 survey) 10. Shu Sakamaki (5 votes) (no votes in 2019 survey) 11. Kou Mukami (3 votes) (5th in 2019 survey) 11. Laito Sakamaki (3 votes) (9th in 2019 survey) 11. Yuma Mukami (3 votes) (joint 10th in 2019 survey) 14. Subaru Sakamaki (2 votes) (no votes in 2019 survey)
Note: I discounted one vote for Subaru on this question, as the participant had also voted for him as their favorite character so I assumed they misunderstood this question.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Every single year I’ve done this, Kanato has come first in this category by a massive margin and (while I will admit he’s my own least favorite) I am still no closer to understanding why he gets so many votes. If anyone does have any theories then do let me know.
Other than that, Kino’s placement certainly isn’t a surprise given his place in the 2019 survey and that he was the villain in all of the other characters LE routes, which I suspect has not endeared him to many. I do find it interesting that Ruki and Ayato (who did well in the popularity poll) were also in the top 5 for this question.
I also wasn’t expecting Shu, golden boy of the fandom, to actually rank higher than some of the other characters in this question and to only have one less vote than Shin (who is considerably less popular and did some fairly deplorable things in the other character’s DF routes).
Question 3. What is your favorite type of DL media?
1. The games 60 votes (1st in 2019 survey) 2. The drama CDs 46 votes (2nd in 2019 survey) 3. The character songs 9 votes (3rd in 2019 survey) 3. The merch (e.g. plushies, badges, straps etc) 9 votes (4th in 2019 survey) 5. The anime 8 votes (5th in 2019 survey) 5. The manga 6 votes (6th in 2019 survey)
Tumblr media
I don’t really think there’s much to comment on with this one, the results are pretty similar to last year and given that the drama CDs and the games collectively provide most of the story content for DL, it’s not at all surprising that they’re the fan favorites.
Question 4. If you have played and/or read translations for the games, which is your favorite?
1. Dark Fate (39 votes) (1st in 2019 survey) 2. Haunted Dark Bridal (27 votes) (2nd in 2019 survey) 3. More Blood (13 votes) (3rd in 2019 survey) 4. Vandead Carnival  (10 votes) (7th in 2019 survey)  5. Lost Eden 8 votes (5th in 2019 survey) 6. Chaos Lineage 8 votes (4th in 2019 survey) 7. Lunatic Parade 6 votes (6th in 2019 survey) Note: 20 people said they had not played the games or read translations of them.
Tumblr media
DF, HDB and MB all remain as the top 3 games of franchise. I was a bit surprised to see VC jump up so much though, although I know some more translations for it have been posted recently, and a game being translated will always help to boost it’s popularity within the fandom.
Question 5. If you have listened to and/or read translations of the drama CDs, which set of CDs includes your favorite?
1. Bonus CDs (19 votes) (4th in 2019 survey) 2. Para-Selene (18 votes) (2nd in 2019 survey) 3. Bloody Bouquet (14 votes) (1st in 2019 survey) 4. Zero (13 votes) (joint 5th in 2019 survey) 5. The original do-s vampire CDs (11 votes) (3rd in 2019 survey) 6. More Blood do-s vampire (8 votes) (joint 5th in 2019 survey) 7. Verus II (7 votes) (joint 5th in 2019 survey) 8. More, More Blood (6 votes) (not an option in the 2019 survey) 9. Dark Fate (4 votes) (no votes in 2019 survey) 9. Born To Die (4 votes) (joint 9th in 2019 survey) 11. Verus I (3 votes) (joint 9th in 2019 survey) 12. Eternal Blood (2 votes) (no votes in 2019 survey) 13. Versus III  (1 vote) (joint 8th in 2019 survey) 13. Versus IV (1 vote) (no votes in 2019 survey) 13. Chaos Lineage  (1 vote) (joint 8th in 2019 survey) Note: the Lost Eden CDs (joint 8th in the 2019 survey) did not receive any votes and 26 people said they had not listened to or read translations of the drama CDs, 6 more than those who had not played or read translations of the games.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was pretty surprised to see the Bloody Bouquet CDs bumped down to third place considering that they won far and away in the 2018 and 2019 surveys, especially with the Zero CDs coming so close behind them. Para-Selene (my own personal favorite set of drama CDs) is still a fan favorite, and while I know many people enjoy the bonus CDs, I certainly wasn’t expecting to see them take the top spot.
In terms of other things to note, I do find it interesting that the Eternal Blood CDs (which feature the Mukamis) are less popular than the Born To Die CDs (which feature the Tsukinamis and Kino), considering that in this survey, the Mukami brothers got more votes combined than the Tsukinamis + Kino, and I’m pretty sure all of the Eternal Blood CDs have been translated, while to my knowledge, no English translations exist for the BTD CDs (although you can find a summary of Shin’s on this blog), so I would have expected this to be the other way around.
Question 6. How long have you been interested in DL?
1. More than 4 years but less than 6 years (55 votes)  2. More than 2 years but less than 4 years (26 votes)  3. More than 6 years but less than 8 years (15 votes)  4. Up to six months (9 votes)  5. Over 8 years (7 votes) 6. More than 6 months but less than 1 year (6 votes) 7. Less than 1 month (2 votes) Note: 6 people said they couldn’t remember how long they’d been interested in DL for.
Tumblr media
It seems the majority of us have been here for years (truly, there is no escaping diahell) but it was nice to see so many newcomers to the fandom take part this year, especially as we haven’t really had that much new content.
I mentioned this in the 2019 survey results post but I do wonder whether the release of the MB anime (a little over 5 years ago), may have some correlation with a large chunk of the fandom (or at least the portion that took part in this survey) being into the series for between 4-6 years.
Question 7. If you answered the survey I did last year, have any of your choices changed since then?
Note: Multiple options could be selected here.
My favorite character has changed: 21 votes
My least favorite diaboy has changed: 17 votes
My favorite DL game has changed: 9 votes
My favorite drama CD has changed: 18 votes
There were definitely more changes this year compared to last year (although given the much larger sample size, that’s to be expected), but it does seem most are fairly firm in their favorites.
Question 8. If you purchased one of the More, More Blood CDs, which version did you get?
Deluxe edition: 7 votes (5.22%)
Regular edition: 4 votes (2.99%)
Deluxe edition from Animate: 7 votes (5.22%)
Deluxe edition from Stellaworth: 2 votes (1.49%)
Deluxe edition of the same CD from Animate & Stellaworth: 3 votes (2.24%)
Multiple MMB CDs (some regular, some deluxe): 5 votes (3.73%)
Did not buy any of the MMB CDs: 106 votes (79.10%)
Note: 4 people skipped this question.
I mostly asked this question because I was curious as to how many people bought the deluxe edition versus the normal edition, especially as after listening to Shin’s (and from the comments I saw online) I feel like you really need the bonus CD you get with the deluxe edition to nicely wrap up the story.
I was sort of expecting most people to go for the deluxe edition, as I think if you’re ordering your favorite's CD, you’re going to want the maximum content with them possible, even if it does come with a bigger price tag.
As for why so many people went for the Animate bonus over the Stellaworth bonus, I imagine this was because Animate has an international online store (although I think whether you can actually get the bonus drama CDs from them is variable) while Stellaworth only ships in Japan, which means if you order from them, you have to use a proxy service which really hikes up the price.
Question 9. Out of the following things released within the last year, which has been your favorite?
1. 4-panel More, More Blood comics (28 votes) 1. Winter of Lovers merch (28 votes) 3. More, More Blood CDs (24 votes) 4. Masquerade Jewel merch (18 votes) 5. My Melody collaboration merch (15 votes) 6. Other (14 votes) 7. Merch from Rejet 2020 Fes (10 votes) Note: 1 person skipped this question.
Tumblr media
I thought for sure the More, More Blood CDs would win this one but I seriously underestimated just how popular the More, More Blood comics and merch lines were. I suppose given that the bonus drama CDs came first in the Drama CD category and the MMB comics are much in the same vein (as in they both contain humorous content), it isn’t that much of a surprise, especially as the comics are posted online and are therefore much more accessible to international fans than the drama CDs.
As for the merch lines, Winter of Lovers is the most recently released set, so it may be possible that this is partially responsible for it’s popularity (i.e. it’s the merch line freshest in people’s minds).
Question 10. Which of the upcoming DL releases are you the most excited for?
1. Young Blood manga (64 votes) 2. Daylight CDs (25 votes) 3. Releases that have yet to be announced (20 votes) 4. Count Off (9th anniversary song) (7 votes) Note: 22 people went for the “Can’t choose/ Not excited for any of these” option.
Tumblr media
The Young Blood manga won here by a massive margin, which is pretty interesting considering that the DL manga ranked lowest in question 3. That being said though I suspect this manga will be more popular than the others as it should give us more of the boys’ backstories.
I’ve seen several people hoping for the unannounced release (that we should find out more about April) to be a new game. Personally I’m not super convinced that’s going to be the case as new game announcements tend to be done at Otomate party (as was the case with CL in 2018), which is scheduled for July. However, I do admit that I think a new game would be a really good way to celebrate DL’s tenth anniversary (which is coming up December next year), so I don’t think it’s completely outside of the realms of possibility that we may get another game at some point.
Either way I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens in April.
And that’s it for the 2020 survey. Again, thanks to everyone who took part, I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on the results, was there anything that surprised you?

The Ultimate Poll: Results!
Ok. after sharing the link in a couple of places, I’ve decided to close it and show what I found. Eveyrhting will be under a cut since this is kind of long. I’ll put top 3 answers for some of them, and highlights.
Saying that, let’s start!.
Note: a total of 79 people answered this, including myself.
Q1: Cats or Dogs?
#1. Both: 35 (44,3%)
#2. Cats: 32 (40.5%)
#3: Dogs: 10 (12,7%)
#4. None: 2 (2,5%)
So, a total of 67 people like cats, while 45 people like dogs (regardless of preference), and i think its pretty great to see how they both overlap in preference!
Q2: Age
#1: 16-18 y/o: 34 (43%)
#2: 13-15 y/o: 32 (40.5%)
#3: 19-21 y/o: 11 (13.9)
And the other two people were someone younger than twelve and another person between 25 and 30 years old.
Mostly teenagers and a few young adults.
Q3: How many siblings do you have?
note: I said that adoptive siblings were counted, but I let people determine their own case.
#1: 2: 31 (39.2%)
#2 1: 27 (34.2%)
#3 0: 6 (7.6%)
12 people had more than 3 siblings and other 3 people didnt know an exact number.
Honestly, i’m not that surprised by these results, but god have mercy upon the people who have a lot of siblings. it can be chaotic.
Q4: regarding siblings, which one describes you?
#1: Oldest child: 26 (32.9%)
#2: Youngest child: 20 (25.3%)
#3: Middle child: 18 (22,8%)
#4: Only child: 9 (11,4%)
The other 6 (7.6) aren’t sure. I just wonder, How are there people without siblings that arent Only children? Only they know.
Q5 What is your Zodiac sign?
#1: Aquarius and Sagittarius: each one having 10 votes (equal to 12.7%)
#2: Leo, Virgo, Taurus, Pisces and Aries: with 7 votes each (equal to 8.9%)
#3: Cancer and Scorpio: 5 votes each (6.3%)
The least common sign was Libra with only 2 votes. There were in fact more people who weren’t sure (4)
I would say it was pretty even since i expected to get about 6 or 7 votes considering total votes.
thx for the person who put their big three lol
Q6:  How many chairs are in the place you live in?
#1: 10-12 and 16 or more: Each option got 19 votes (24.1%)
#:2: 7-9 and 13-15: Each option got 15 votes (19%)
This is the most well distributed question so far. Oh, and I’m really sorry for the person who doesnt have a single chair.
Q7: What’s your eye color?
#1: Brown:  34 (43%)
#2: Blue: 22 (27.8%)
#3: Hazel: 9 (11.4%)
Fun fact: there was a time where blue was almost tied with brown, must be the influence of majorly white servers, or my own bias becuase i know like 5 people IRL with blue eyes at most.
Q8:  Have you ever eaten pineapple on pizza?
#1: Yes: 52 (65.8%)
#2: No: 25 (31.6%)
Highlights: The person who said “other” just to write “Hell no”
Q9: Is you said yes, did you like it?
note: i dont trust this question in particular because the answers don’t add up accordinfg to the previous question. Regardless:
#1: Yes: 33 (56.9%)
#2: No: 21 (36.2%)
#3: Various ways of being neutral: 4 (6.9%)
Q10:  What's the color and/or pattern of your current blanket?

Floral patterns are pretty common! I counted 10
“r”
I saw about 7 people with circle patterns.
Stripes and wawes are less common than I expected but still present.

Highlights:
7 people said Hot chocolate
The person who drinks mate! Good choice!
Q12:  Name a type of food you used to hate but you like now
Highlights:

“Rocks”
Shout out to he person who hated gnocchis and gave a full rant about their family making them eat them for tradition
“Butter...its a complicated story”
Q13:  What's the percentage of battery in your current device?
#1: 81-100% and 41-60%: 19 votes each (24,1%) (counting the person who thought it was on topic to tell me they have an iPhone 7)
#2: 61-80%: 18 votes (22.8%)
Q14: What time is it now?
Highlights:
4:28 AM
There were two cases of different people answering at the same time with the same timezone. One occured at 22:40 and the other at 14:33 (i think it was when i released it in the first Discord server)
The range with the most answers is 14:00-14:59
It was evenly distributed  with some peaks between 12:00 and 17:00 and past 20:00
Q15: Cereal or Milk first?
#1: Cereal: 58 (73.4%)
#2: I don’t like cereal and milk together: 16 (20.3%)
#3 Milk: 4 (5.1%)
#4: cereal only: 1 (1.3%)
If we remove from the equation those without a preference, we have 62 people left. Making Cereal equivaent to 93.5% and Milk to 6.5%
Q16:  Write the first word or phrase that comes to your mind?
Highlights:
5 answers contain the word “gay”, and as many answers contain the word fuck
“ Why was there a question mark at the end of that last question?” I don’t know man, don’t call me out like this.
"yo quería ma' :("  [I wanted more] Me too lol...
“Piss off“ ...but not everyone thought the same :c
“Epäjärjestelmällistyttämättömyydellänsäkäänköhän.” (it’ s a Finhish word without translation in English
“Yes” and “No” (also “ no❤ “)
Words of wisdom “ A society of complete tolerance must be intolerant of intolerance, thus causing a paradox, but it can be overriden by exempting intolerance intolerance. “
song lyrics
This has been all! I hope you enjoyed reading through this. We learnt a lot of things, found out about preferences, and most people answering it got ot have a little fun. See you!

Welcome to Pollapalooza, our weekly polling roundup.
Poll of the week
The 2018 election saw some remarkable performances by Democrats — including, prominently, in the red state of Texas, where Democrat Beto O’Rourke came close to defeating Republican Sen. Ted Cruz. But in Florida, which is usually considered a swing state, Republicans Rick Scott and Ron DeSantis won the Senate and gubernatorial races (albeit by razor-thin margins), respectively, even as the national political environment favored Democrats by almost 9 percentage points. This gave rise to a narrative among political observers that Florida may now be further out of Democrats’ reach than Texas is. But this … has never made a lot of sense to me, and a new poll has given my side of the argument some ammunition.
This week, Quinnipiac University released a survey of Florida voters that included six possible 2020 general-election matchups between President Trump and different Democratic candidates. It found Trump trailing his Democratic opponent in each case, with margins ranging from 1 to 9 percentage points. As luck would have it, Quinnipiac three weeks ago asked Texas voters about those six general-election matchups. In that poll, five of the six Democrats trailed Trump — only former Vice President Joe Biden beat him (by 4 points).
Now, to be clear, I’m not asking you to put a lot of stock in those individual matchup results — as my colleague Perry Bacon Jr. wrote in this space last week, polls of general-election matchups at this point in the election cycle aren’t terribly predictive of the eventual results. However, we can compare the results of the Texas and Florida polls with a recent national Quinnipiac survey that asked about five of the matchups to get a sense of how much more Republican each state is than the nation as a whole.
And as you can see in the table below, if we compare Quinnipiac’s Florida poll to the pollster’s national survey, it implies that the Sunshine State is about 4 points more Republican-leaning than the nation. Meanwhile, the Texas poll suggests that the Lone Star State is about 10 points more Republican-leaning than the country. So according to Quinnipiac at least (and to be fair, it’s just one pollster’s read on the landscape), Florida is still left of Texas in the national partisan pecking order.
Florida is still bluer than Texas
How five presidential candidates performed against Trump in hypothetical general-election matchups in Florida and Texas vs. nationally
Trump vs. National (June 6-10) Florida (June 12-17) Florida Difference Biden D+13 D+9 R+4 Sanders D+9 D+6 R+3 Warren D+7 D+4 R+3 Harris D+8 D+1 R+7 Buttigieg D+5 D+1 R+4 Average R+4 Trump vs. National (June 6-10) Texas (May 29-June 4) texas Difference Biden D+13 D+4 R+9 Sanders D+9 R+3 R+12 Warren D+7 R+1 R+8 Harris D+8 R+4 R+12 Buttigieg D+5 R+2 R+7 Average R+10
Source: Quinnipiac University
I think the reason people have rushed to re-shade Florida from purple to red has to do with misplaced perceptions. Florida went blue in the 2008 and 2012 presidential elections and red in 2016, leading many to think of it as a bellwether state. But in each of those years, the Democratic presidential candidate did worse in Florida than they did in the national popular vote, so the state was actually a bit red relative to the country as a whole. The results in 2018 were consistent with that.
It’s not that I don’t agree that Florida is a Republican-leaning state — I do think it is light red. But I fear that people are overcompensating for (wrongly) considering it perfectly purple before 2018 by now considering it stubbornly Republican. And while Texas appears to be drifting toward the middle, for now at least, both polling and election results suggest that it is still redder than Florida.
Other polling bites
For all the ink spilled about the rules for qualifying for the Democratic presidential debates, a Politico/Morning Consult poll reveals that most Democrats are tuning out the griping. Sixty-one percent of voters who plan to participate in the Democratic primaries said they haven’t heard much, if anything, about some candidates’ criticisms of the debate rules. Instead, many seem content to trust the Democratic National Committee — 54 percent said the DNC is doing a “very” or “somewhat” fair job at running the debates, 33 percent didn’t know or had no opinion, and 13 percent thought the process was being handled “somewhat” or “very” unfairly.
Most Democratic presidential candidates — and most Americans — support “Medicare for All,” but there’s a lot of ambiguity in what that term means. According to a poll conducted by Global Strategy Group, 60 percent think it refers to a “plan that lets anyone buy Medicare instead of their current private insurance, if they want to,” while 40 percent believe it “makes everyone get rid of their current private insurance and switch over to Medicare.”
In reaction to the May 31 shooting in Virginia Beach, Gov. Ralph Northam called a special session of the Virginia legislature to enact gun control legislation. And a new Public Policy Polling survey sponsored by a pro-gun control group found that among Virginians in four key Republican-held legislative districts, 62 percent of respondents supported a ban on semi-automatic assault rifles, and 63 percent favored a ban on high-capacity magazines (one of which was used in the Virginia Beach shooting).
In hopes of eating into Biden’s polling lead, some campaign rivals have tried to attack Biden over his support for the 1994 crime bill that many now argue contributed to the problem of mass incarceration in the U.S. However, a HuffPost/YouGov survey reveals why that might not work: Many Democrats simply don’t seem to know much about the law. Forty-one percent said they are “not very” or “not at all” familiar with the crime bill, and 58 percent said they were not sure which 2020 candidates supported it.
Chances are the “song of the summer” has already been released, so Ipsos is asking Americans what they think it will be. Out of 13 options, Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus’s “Old Town Road” came in first place, with 20 percent of respondents naming it; in second was “ME!” by Taylor Swift and Brendon Urie, garnering 10 percent of the vote.
Across the pond, YouGov asked members of the United Kingdom’s Conservative Party what they would be willing to risk in order to realize the country’s exit from the European Union. Respondents said they were willing to endure significant damage to the U.K. economy (61 percent to 29 percent) and even the destruction of the Conservative Party itself (54 percent to 36 percent). However, there was a line that Tories were unwilling to cross. Respondents said 51 percent to 39 percent that they were not willing to achieve Brexit if it meant electing Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn as prime minister.
Trump approval
According to FiveThirtyEight’s presidential approval tracker, 42.5 percent of Americans approve of the job Trump is doing as president, while 53.1 percent disapprove (a net approval rating of -10.6 points). At this time last week, 42.3 percent approved and 52.9 percent disapproved (for a net approval rating of -10.6 points). One month ago, Trump had an approval rating of 41.8 percent and a disapproval rating of 53.3 percent, for a net approval rating of -11.5 points.
Generic ballot
In our average of polls of the generic congressional ballot, Democrats currently lead by 6.2 percentage points (46.0 percent to 39.8 percent). A week ago, Democrats led Republicans by 6.2 points (46.1 percent to 39.9 percent). At this time last month, voters preferred Democrats by 5.0 points (45.4 percent to 40.4 percent).
Check out all the polls we’ve been collecting ahead of the 2020 elections.

1. Blow Stuff Up with TNT
The uses for TNT are limited in a proper survival game like Minecraft (and it is often hard to gather sufficient resources in mass). However, in creative mode, where you can spawn an unlimited amount of TNT, you can cause dramatic destruction to the game world, your own creations, or better yet those of your friends. There are plenty of TNT videos around on YouTube showcasing some insane feats. My favourite (below) is a TNT block made out of other TNT blocks.

15. Build Things From Real Life
Minecraft gives you all the tools you need to build, and looking to the real world for inspiration is often the best place to start, especially if you struggle to create new ideas or are just starting to play. From famous monuments like the Eiffel Tower (pictured) to everyday objects like your desk, car, or favourite park, you can recreate everyday objects one block at a time.

24. Create an Adventure or Puzzle Map
If you haven't been introduced to the joys of adventure and puzzle maps yet then you are seriously missing out. These maps are designed by fans and can offer a serious challenge that focuses either on adventure or puzzle aspects. If you want something that is sure to take a long time and really test your understanding of game mechanics, then creating your own map is the perfect option. If you're able to create something really spectacular, a famous Minecraft YouTube channel may try out your map, and you'll get to watch millions of people play on it.

25. Create a Minecraft Skin 26. Create a Mob Trap 27. Create a Rollercoaster 28. Create your very own Minecraft mod 29. Create a Treehouse

30. Create Some 8-Bit Art
8-bit art is extremely popular in Minecraft thanks to how easy it is to recreate the 8-bit feel with the blocks. While there are now countless tutorials online that walk you through the process of building all your favourites block by block it's much more fun to try to develop your own method. Some 8-bit art ideas include your favourite video game character, TV show character, or even your favourite movie.

39. Fight the Ender Dragon
The Ender Dragon was the first boss-type monster to be introduced into Minecraft, and many players have yet to defeat it. While the fight itself can be pretty easy if you cheat to give yourself all the necessary equipment, I encourage players to start a fresh survival game and try to take out the Ender Dragon, as doing it that way feels much more rewarding (especially on hardcore mode). If you've already killed the Ender Dragon, then you can spice it up by challenging yourself to killing it within a number of days or even racing your friends to the first Ender Dragon kill on a server.

40. Fill up Your Whole Inventory With Diamonds 41. Find a NPC Village 42. Find a Stronghold And Conquer it 43. Find and Kill a Spider Jockey 44. Get Every Diamond Tool and Armor 45. Go Fishing 46. Go on A Massive Expedition and Get Lost 47. Have an Archery Competition

48. Create a Trap and Use Cake as Bait
Creating a trap is always a great way to pass the time in Minecraft and cake traps are quite possibly the most popular of these such traps. Not only is this because cake is often irresistible but also ties well into Portal's popular "The cake is a lie" phrase. While cake traps started as basic arrow shooters and TNT explosives they have since become more and more complex to include walls of fire arrows, lava and many other unique designs. With plenty of tutorials online it's easy to get started which can provide you a strong foundation to eventually create deadly cake traps to trick your friends.

54. Make Some Minecraft Music With Noteblocks
The introduction of note blocks was a unique addition that opened up a whole new world of possibilities in the form of creating music. By combining these simple note blocks, Redstone players have been able to recreate all their favourite songs in the Minecraft universe. If you fancy yourself an inventor and Redstone expert but haven't attempted to create a song yet, you'll find it the perfect challenge to take your buildings skills to an entirely new and musical level.

61. Recreate Your House From Real Life
If you've been playing Minecraft long enough you've probably built plenty of dirt houses in survival mode to get you through your first night and made plenty of extravagant houses on the other end of the spectrum in creative. But have you created your house from real life yet? There is something about creating your real life house in Minecraft that forces you to give an extra attention to detail as you try to get everything just right. The perfectionists among us can attempt to create a scale model and even include the major furniture items inside.

Bitcoin: To The Moon And Back – Bitcoin USD (Cryptocurrency:BTC-USD)
Bitcoin: To The Moon And Back – Bitcoin USD (Cryptocurrency:BTC-USD)
To The Moon and Back
I would fly you to the moon and back. If you’ll be, if you’ll be my baby*I’ve got a ticket for a world where we belong. So would you be my baby*?
Source/Lyrics: Savage Garden – “To The Moon & Back”
*Crypto (Author’s edition)
It was only 25 days ago when we wrote that “The Lower It Goes, The Safer It Gets“. While this is always true, for any asset whatsoever, we get much more of the former (lower) than of the latter (safer).
It’s no secret that Bitcoin (BTC-USD, COIN, OTCQX:GBTC) isn’t – and never been – suitable for the fainthearted.
At the current price of ~$3,400, we are talking about an 83% decline from the peak price of $19,891. Few days ago we’ve touched the 52-week low at $3,215.
During the past 7 years (2011-2017 inclusive), there was only one year in which Bitcoin lost value – 2014 – when the price dropped 58%.
As it stands now, unless a miraculous shift happens till year-end, 2018 will go down as the worst year for cryptocurrencies in (their relatively short) history.
Cryptocurrencies – 2018 Data
(Sorted by % Below All-Time High, from worst to best)
You know what? Suddenly, -83% off peak and/or -71% total return in 2018 don’t look that bad…
Cryptocurrencies – Total Market
The market cap of the top 20 cryptocurrencies has shrunk by no less than 82%. It was over $512B at the end of 2017, and it’s lower than $90B now.
To put this in perspective, a change/loss of $422B is not too far of the entire market cap of Berkshire Hathaway, Inc. (BRK.A, BRK.B). I wonder whether and at what number the two market caps might meet…
With Berkshire holding 24% of its liquid invested portfolio in a single stock, even if that stock is called Apple (AAPL), I can’t rule this out.
The Greenback Effect
The US Dollar (UUP, USDU) is higher against every major global currency in 2018. As such, it’s no wonder to see that Bitcoin weakness is very much associated with the Greenback global strength.
Bitcoin in the Mirror of History
So Bitcoin is i) hitting a 16-month low, ii) down 83% from its peak last December, and iii) down 68% over the past year, its worst Y/Y return since February 2015.
Yet, it’s interesting to see how these numbers compare to its trading history. Here are the largest drawdowns in Bitcoin’s history:
September 2010 to October 2010: -94.1% ($0.17 to $.01)
June 2011 to November 2011: -93.8% ($32 to $1.99)
November 2013 to January 2015: -85.4% ($1,166 to $170)
December 2017 to Today: -83.8% ($19,891 to $3,215)
April 2013 to July 2013: -76.4% ($266 to $63)
In the last three months of 2017, Bitcoin hit a new all-time high once every three days, on average.
As of 12/12/2018, Bitcoin has gone 360 days – almost one full year – without a new high. To put that in perspective, the longest streak ever was 1,176 days (from December 2013 to February 2017), more than three full years.
Bitcoin Investment Trust
And when things are rough for Bitcoin, they are as rough – if not worse – for the Bitcoin Investment Trust (OTCQX:GBTC).
Just like Bitcoin, GBTC also hits a 16-month low. Unlike Bitcoin, it’s now down 89% from its peak last December (versus “only” 83% for Bitcoin itself).
I guess that’s (at least partially) the power of management fees.
Volatility
It’s back! And no, I’m not referring to Arnold Schwarzenegger here.
Recall that we were quite impressed/surprised when Bitcoin has become one of the least volatile assets during October, when the world equity markets (SPY, DIA, QQQ, IWM, IVV, VTI, VOO, VEA, EFA, IEFA, VWO) collapsed?
Well, forget about it… The extreme (and very unusual) low volatility in Bitcoin did not last too long. Bitcoin’s annualized volatility over the past 30 days is now back to triple digits.
Bottom Line
Bloomberg reports that “What is Bitcoin?” was the most searched definition in the US and UK in 2018, according to Google Trends.
We started with Savage Garden’s “To The Moon & Back” song, and we finished with Arnold Schwarzenegger’s most famous “I’ll Be Back” promise.
The most relevant, interesting question, now that Bitcoin already lived up to the song, can it also live up to the promise?
Technically speaking, Bitcoin has broken all the support levels it had during the past year. There’s no real technical support here.
From the current relatively low levels, there’s a good reason to be bullish long-term. Nonetheless, next levels Bitcoin may meet soon are $3,000, $2,600 and $1,800-1,900.
We now put a 70% chance for Bitcoin to trade below $3,000 and a 50% chance for it to trade as low as $2,600.
While the $1,800-1,900 level seems far away, it’s not out of question for 2019.
