WHAT IS TRADITIONAL THAI MASSAGE?

Structural breakouts and joint mobilizations are performed in the Traditional Thai Massage with the intention of encouraging the flow of vital energy, improving flexibility of the body and increasing the performance of the organism, while increasing the potential and capacity to heal itself. It is the combination of yoga stretching, calmness of meditation, with acupressure along the meridians, exercise movement and reflexology that makes it a healing art. It is performed as per tradition on a firm massage mattress on the floor with the client dressed in comfortable loose clothing. The Thai method uses not only the hands to release tension stored in the recipient’s body but also the feet and elbows for firm pressure.

Admission is free. It is a Shan-style temple (one of the very few ones in the area) built in the late 1800s. One treasure possessed by the temple (though not shown in the images here) is an ancient Buddha figure in the 'Thai Ping I' style dated to 1487.
