Trying out comics for the first time, so I figured I'd christen the medium by drawing a ROTTMNT comic feat. me and a friend of mine's (@nuggdoesart) OC's and a small snipped of their backstory.

For the illimination of any doubt, that red eared slider is their OC Titan (from their double yoke au) and the blue dragon is Wan, who's been pretty thoroughly fucked over by every crime boss they've ever had the displeasure of working for.

DW they both become friends... ish.... it's complicated.

He likes to cook and try new foods and recipes. Cooking is his love language in a way! Nothing brings him greater joy than cooking a nice meal for his beloved. His favorite food is meat, more specifically steak 🥩 the rarer the better

Suprise! She has an insatiable sweet tooth and loves chocolate and chocolate flavored things. Though if she eats too much she will get sick due to her being a werewoof (womp womp)

☁️ VESPER ☁️

Due to them being a prey animal he is a vegetarian (not by choice, believe me LOL) and eating any kind of meat protein will cause him to get violently ill (no dino nuggs 🥺) but they are a cereal fiend and would eat it for every meal of the day

As for 💚me💚 I prefer savory type foods over desserts and you can’t go wrong with a heaping bowl of Mac and cheese 🤤

My Cuphead OC, Rootie Float! Had her since late 2017-early 2018.

She’s the Devil’s Casino’s bartender. She usually just likes to watch everything go kaput (she strongly dislikes the Devil, so it’s satisfying to her lol). Also, she has a gambling addiction.

My main nuggs (and those who I haven't remembered for a long time... and just a rundown of my LC playthrough)

When I first played LC, I got two employees who I grew in love for. Asera and Kobenri.

Underneath Asera's Today's Expression mask, they just have a tired expression including a stubble (thank the Wellcheers crew). Asera is calm, collected, works dilligently and fights alright. I envision them hating work since they just rule at it.

Kobenri, a custom employee, is kind of similar to the Kobeni she was based off. Scared shitless, but can fight a really good fight. Later she became a Twilight wielder, contrasting with BongBong's Paradise Lost.

Asera was also an employee who died thanks to Portrait of another World linking them with someone who was working with Justice Bird. It also marked my first big reset, as I had some unfortunate abnormalities close together.

Also going through my screenshots, it comes to my attention that Kobenri once got selected for Baby Duty.

So, first reset. Installed some mods to make custom employees free. Here's Mari.

Mari... I forgot everything about her.

Anyways, later on, Kobenri reached Quintuple V

Ain't that nice? Way later she did decide to smoke thanks to Freischutz giving her an E.G.O. gift.

But then, way later, when Kobenri was wielding [CENSORED] and wearing Mimicry... a legend was born

BongBong, an agent of chaos, a creature beyond our comprehension, maybe even a humanoid abno in disguise. I really like her, unfortunately, she doesn't get the spotlight yet

However, one employee who I mocked when I was building the facility is the one named Xavier.

Xavier looks... in my honest opinion, a bit ugly. It's thanks to Wellcheers, but even despite that, he slays magical girls, pulling the Queen of Hatred out of hysteria multiple times.

Meanwhile BongBong was wielding the Magical Bullet, causing some days to take some trial and error.

About Asera, they got covered by [CENSORED]

Same went with Kobenri, but with eyes.

So after taking care of Asiyah's problems, I restarted again.

This is where the nuggetsplosion happens

Yes, BongBong got misspelled, but the rest is here, including some not-so important custom nugs. A lot of them were from DMC, Evangalion, Yakuza, Genshin Impact, but all misspelled in a little way.

We also have my girlfriend, who looks more like Zato-1. I love her to bits, but she's not really an "OC", I would say. She's just along for the ride.

Waay later, after Tiphereth got ice cream, Chesed got coffee and Gebura did the facility in, I created Chiyo-Chan

From Azumanga Daioh, I created her as a disposable employee, although she sticked by my side for a long part of the game. She even went through Hokma's little tantrum, which was easily contained by repressing the urge to press space.

Still, Asera got killed again.

After this, I did another reset, got BongBong's name correct and decided to finish this game, going for all the other abno's left. So while abusing time and trying to lure three birds and a plague doctor

So. as my main blorbo's (if I use this term correctly), we have Asera, Kobenri, BongBong and Xavier. It's time for my final one.

Born with a bit of an unfortunate name and sent to the team with a weird sephiroth, here's my final blorbo: Poussey. While Asera knows their shit, Poussey does not and does not care. She can punch, kick, and turn you into a book before you can say that I'm referencing the wrong Project Moon game.

After getting a lost paradise, I restarted for the final time.

Remember when I said I had some DMC characters? Dio was the replacement for one of the characters, and has a keen refusal to die ever since. KiKi is supposed to be the perfect rival of BongBong, but it did not work out. But other than Courtney, the rest just had to be made on my own.

As for BongBong being an agent of chaos, I mean it.

BongBong and Kobenri are also a thing.

Their relation even made them sprout wings (Note, whitenight was not available at the time, thus the console was used. I regret nothing.)

So, after LC, where are they now?

They are loyal parts of the Library, Xavier still has to be pulled from somewhere, but we might be able to find him in no time when the writer actually plays Ruina further again for Pete's sake.

I've been posting fanfics for years and reading them for decades (just started reading /reader fics- one is in my top four favorite pieces of literature period), and I gotta say- I hate it when people do this. Few things will make me click off a fic faster. It's dishonest; you're lying to prospective readers, falsely advertising one thing to draw them in while giving them something else. And yes, descriptions are nice, but most people search fics on AO3 by tags.

To me, the difference between a reader-insert and an original character is the difference between games that have fully customizable characters for you to play as and the old Final Fantasy games where you could change a character's name. The fully custom character might follow the same script no matter who's playing as them, but they're special. That's your character- you have a personal connection with them, they are your avatar. It doesn't matter if I rename Cloud "Chikn Nuggs"- that's still undeniably Cloud Strife and will never not be Cloud Strife.

And yeah, there are plenty of reader-inserts that are obviously just OCs with the serial number filed off, but there are also plenty of "comedians" that aren't funny. I try not to judge a medium by the worst examples of it.

I exclusively write OC/Canon fics so trust me; I get being desperate to reach an audience, but the fact of the matter is, that's never going to do the numbers that reader/Canon fics will. Horror won't attract as many readers as romance, but that's no excuse to tag your psychological horror thriller as a romantic slice of life. Purposefully mistagging just disappoints people who wanted the specific thing you aren't going to deliver. You just have to accept the fact you're writing for a specific niche and hope that your writing is good enough that it will draw readers in without lying to them about what they're getting. Sometimes it won't, but sometimes it will and if you're lucky, people will love your OC for the character she is, not the blank slate they were hoping for.

I have a question for yall regarding tags on Ao3- for fics involving All Might specifically. In the past I had seen people post works in the xReader tag that were oc content rather than xReader. I posted 2 of my oc fics like 2-3 years ago and that was the first time I'd ever posted anything on Ao3 and was still relatively new to the site. Since I had seen people post oc content under the xreader tag I figured that was okay? Personally I don't see an issue when someone has an oc story under a reader tag because I read the description of fics and if it's something I'm not interested in I just won't read it? Especially bc some reader inserts are more of an oc as opposed to a reader insert anyways. The only difference is a named character as opposed to Y/N.

I got excited cause I got a notification for a new comment on an update for my fic and it was basically "cool story- but this isn't xreader so you should get rid of the tag" 😔

I do get it- it technically doesn't truly belong there. It's just nice to give it a chance at getting some views 😂 But idk I've never sought out an opinion on this before bc I don't talk to many people who read xReader. Does anyone have any strong opinions on this?
