How would the werewolf pack handle a new pack moving close to/into their territory? And what if a member of the new pack showed an interest in their darling 👀

It begins a little tense, but overall the yan pack is just a little wary/cautious. Werewolves aren’t quite as territorial over land as you might think. Packs’ territories can overlap, pack members can intermingle with those of a different pack, switch packs. It’s not unheard of for two packs to merge into one either; especially smaller packs (the Yan Pack is a fairly solid polycule as Cyrus is becoming more and more integrated with the pack. They’re not likely to lose any members, but they might be open to taking in one or two more members if they truly seem like a good fit.).

Mason is especially wary of the new pack, as he works hard to keep his own pack members safe and keep up their human façade, and he doesn’t yet know what the new pack’s values are. Are they the type to view humans as prey and make his job harder? Will they expose Mason’s pack members as werewolves and destroy their cover among human society? The other werewolves follow his lead on the matter. Even Ace does his best to avoid trouble with the new pack.

If a member of the new pack is willing to forsake their old pack and join the yan pack, the yan pack might accept this as long as the new addition treats you well, remembers that you belong to all of them, and that they don’t jeopardize the pack’s secrecy and safety among the humans. However, if they don’t treat you well enough, they get a little too cocky and keep trying to genuinely steal you from the other members of the pack, and constantly challenge Mason’s ideas about what’s best for the pack, they’re going to get put down like the feral dog they’re acting like.

A whole new pack all taking an interest in you is seen as a threat, and the yan pack would kill them all instead of giving the new wolves any chance of stealing you away. Mason’s police reports will chalk it up to a drug deal gone wrong, framing the deceased pack as both buyers and sellers, saying there were no survivors of their internal conflict. Case closed, nothing more to investigate.

Oh boy this is going to be a long one. Oh my gosh but thank you for asking about the side characters, this is why you're Big Brain lmao (I'll use a read more to spare everyone's dashes lol). Also mild spoilers, I guess, if you're not caught up on the story, just because of the nature of some of these characters.

What is your favorite thing about them?

For Sam: I love their aesthetic, to be honest. That, and their confident cluelessness. I'm not sure what to call it...let's call it Dumbass Energy. The way they just go for it despite not really understanding what's going on. I love them.

For Cyrus: Why do you hate me I think my favorite thing about Cyrus is the bitch's audacity the fact that he can be simultaneously cunning and clueless. Like, he's a savvy businessman, and he knows what he's doing when it comes to dealing. But he also hasn't upgraded his security cameras since the '90s because, you know, "if it ain't broke don't fix it." And despite his ability to corner Christopher and Nathan, he didn't even stop to consider a human would be the one to pull their stunt off. It's an odd mix to write but it makes him a...well, I wouldn't say "fun" character to write, but maybe "interesting."

Do they have any crafting hobbies?

Maria: It's a strange question to answer for Maria because she really hasn't been outside of the Black Dragon since she got to this world. I don't know if this counts as a "crafting" hobby, but she used to be really into baking, and wanted to get into amateur winemaking as well. Screw it, I'll give whoever's reading this a bit of a sneak peek as a treat: she used to be a chemist, so her hobbies kind of lined up with that. Once she figures out Christopher is into cooking as well, oh boy.

Do they collect anything?

Maria: Again, hard to answer for the same reason as above. But I think, given the chance, she'd end up collecting pins of places she's been to before. She would want to get out into the world and see as much as she could, and having a way to remember that by would be meaningful for her. It would be like a physical reminder of how much distance she's put between her and her (slightly traumatic) past.

Ryan: He likes music - I think it would end up being something that would act as a sort of comfort mechanism for his (also slightly traumatic) past. With that in mind, I think (given the opportunity), he'd like to collect CDs, or records, or whatever physical medium was available of his favorite artists.

Do they have any unusual fears?

Ryan: Besides the kind of fears that come part and parcel with humans in his situation, Ryan would be scared of water - specifically, the kind of large bodies of water that he could drown in. He's not a strong swimmer - he had some health issues as a kid that made his parents a bit...overprotective, and as a result he never learned how to swim properly. While he wouldn't understand where the fear comes from now (thanks to his lost memories), he'd still be quite nervous about anything involving swimming. Plus, now all the lakes, rivers, oceans, etc. are a million times bigger and more dangerous for him, so I guess his fear is somewhat founded now.

The blond laid face down in the dirt, covered in blood. Most of it his own. He was knocked out cold until something kicked at him, stirring him back awake.

A low groan came from Errol as his head turned, blood dripping from his nose and lip, as well as a cut above his right eyebrow. He was met with the sight of a tall man staring down at him, a single curl in his dark brown hair.

"I didn't think the grim reaper would be so easy on the eyes," Errol mumbled. He was only half joking, figuring he was in bad enough shape after the fight he'd been in that he might be on death's door. He wasn't quite that bad though. He only felt like it.

“Cyrus is very good,” the auctioneer says, yet he grips Cyrus’ face like he’s a disobedient pet. “Quite docile. Incredibly trainable. You’ll have hours of fun, guaranteed. So, which lovely viewer wants to take him home?”

Two screens light up: the red, belonging to the snappish-voiced person, and the dulcet-toned blue. An argument ensues between them, rising in fierceness with each traded number.

Cyrus trembles, not knowing if he should be flattered or terrified. The auctioneer pats him condescendingly, adding insult to injury.

“Since he’s been so good,” the auctioneer laughs, “why don’t we have him choose? Well, Cyrus,” pointed teeth peek out from beneath his hat, “who do you want to own you?”

Cyrus swallows. He wants to fight back, to scream that he refuses to be owned by anyone, but he feels the sharp prick of claws on his skin. It’s a vicious warning.

Cyrus steels himself. He nods at the blue screen.

it's extremely funny to me that people are shitting on JoJo Siwa's rebrand by, among other things, comparing it unfavorably to Miley Cyrus' Bangerz era. I've heard several people give the take that Bangerz Miley was legitimately shocking and effective, while Karma feels like a weak attempt to do something similar and like... I can't help but think that a full decade of distance has completely distorted people's memory of the public reaction to Bangerz. Like I distinctly remember EVERYONE going in on Miley for that era. Literally all parties from all sides of american culture came together for a brief period of time in 2013 to dunk on her for being a white girl with no ass trying to twerk. She was cringe, she was trying too hard, she was too raunchy, she was appropriating black culture, she was using black women as props, the music sounded like shit. I cannot remember anyone in 2013 saying a single good thing about the Bangerz era so it makes absolutely no sense to me that people are acting like JoJo getting relentlessly shitted on, albeit for slightly different reasons, is a sign that her rebrand has failed and her career is over when Miley fully bounced back from that criticism and is now a goddamn grammy winner. What makes you think that JoJo's career arc will be any different? Like yes she's attracting a different kind of negative attention than Miley did but it's still the same principle, it's still just doing some crazy shit with the mindset of "all publicity is good publicity". You're still giving her earned media, you are literally getting played like a fiddle by this woman and giving her exactly what she wants. Oml in a decade's time JoJo will be putting out music people actually like and everyone will pretend like Karma was a genius career move and none of this ever happened because the cultural memory is ipad baby levels of abyssmal

Curious with the pack dynamic, what if darling got pregnant? Would they try to figure out which one sired the pregnancy, or is it more communal still?

Cause like, either way can you imagine the instincts on high alert? Every time they have to go into town to see the doctor to check on the pregnancy and someone gets too close, having to hide a body lmao

But it’s really kind of a combination— they’re extremely communal during the pregnancy itself, and try to continue to be after the baby is born… although if the kid comes out looking very strongly like one of them, whoever it is will probably be a lil smug about it… the others figure they’ll just have to “try harder” in the future 😏. They get over it pretty quickly though, going back to their more communal nature as a pack and polycule.

During Darling’s pregnancy though… imagine how gentle and sweet they all are with you, working together to keep you from straining yourself at any point… and the fact that they ALL know before you do, because they can smell it. You won’t even know you’re pregnant, when they start treating you so delicately all of a sudden! Bringing you your favorite foods, insisting you don’t do anything strenuous around the lodge, cuddling and nuzzling you whenever they can.

And yes, they do all hate the nurses and doctors having to run tests on you, getting to place their hands on your belly… all the werewolves are either crowded around you anxiously, or pacing restlessly in the hallway when you fuss at them for some privacy. Word is sure to get around and cause quite a stir amongst the townfolk.

All of the werewolves (except Hunter) would be fine getting impregnated by their Darling too (even if might have to be via magic or like… A/B/O shenanigans). If Darling is the one doing the fertilizing, so to speak, Hunter does start to feel forlorn and a little guilty that he can’t stomach the thought of bottoming, or being pregnant at all. The idea is just unbearable, no matter how much he wishes he could push through for you… ❤️‍🩹

Cyrus and Damian don’t get along.

I wrote a very self indulgent story once where Cyrus turned into a giant while lion. He was very fluffy and cute. And purred.

Even if you don’t see Cyrus in a story I write, he’s probably there. I’m not exaggerating. Canonically he’s probably in every single story I’ve written.

He isn’t always named Cyrus. He takes on whatever name his host gives him, I just like calling him Cyrus constantly to make it less confusing. He also isn’t always a “he.” It depends on how his host views him.

Cyrus usually takes the form of a black dog when I write him, but his form varies depending on his host. Sometimes he has no form.

The jellyfish mermaid bobbed near the surface of the water, swaying with the waves. Even though she was a deep sea species, she loved coming up to the surface to feel the sun on her skin and see the sights of other creatures swimming higher up in the ocean. Some smaller fish swam idly around her and she smiled at them, slowly drifting to follow them.

They led her closer and closer towards the shoreline without her realizing. By the time she noticed, she was within view of a rocky outcropping where another creature lay basking in the sun. Another mer like her!

"Hello," she said cheerfully, reaching out of the water to wave at the merman. He had a tail like a leopard seal and pretty blue eyes. "I've never met another mer creature like myself. I'm Arda. What's your name?" she asked, floating closer to him.

My TPOF OC Cyrus, before he gets captured and auctioned by Ren. I like to imagine he was a gamer that streamed videos during his spare time.

Cyrus would be one of those streamers who’s super interactive with the chat. He had a lonely childhood in south London, so he loves having a group of people to interact with (even if it’s just online). Cue Ren, who has plenty of experience with meeting people online, using that against him.
