😶 - what’s something they dislike about themselves? can be a physical feature, a personality trait, anything about them.

there are lots of things that franklin dislikes about himself, but most of all what he sees as cowardice/patheticness. he runs from fights and avoids arguments, and he’s awful at standing up for himself. he’ll quickly resort to begging or cave to others’ demands, even if they go against his values. he especially sees this as a contrast to his other friends like nic’s oc jasper.

💼 - if they had to/could get a different job than what they currently have, what would they do?

i usually envision sage as a researcher in biology (some kind of plant biology lol) with farming as a secondary thing. no matter what she does for her main job i def think she lives with her husband (nic’s oc) finn on a little farm with dogs cats and chickens (and maybe kids? i feel like they would have kids but they’re not really developed to that point rn) - and tbh i think she would be just as happy doing full time farming. she’d also enjoy being a nurse and probably some types of doctors as well, but i haven’t thought through which types bc there are SO many and it’s not her actual job.

lots of my ocs have pets!

the good ones:

libby’s cocker spaniel, brisket. she’s a Little Lady and only slightly less of a projection of my own family than most other things about libby’s family. like, she wouldn’t bark at the tv the way my dog does. but she would defy distraction when someone is cooking and be Determined to get scraps. this happens daily the rubensteins do a lot of home cooking

miriam’s aussiedoodle, mendel. he was a stray who hung around the meirs’ backyard long enough that they eventually took him in. he’s named mendel bc miriam’s older brother eitan commented when they first took him in that he looks like he belongs in the shtetl so they gave him a shtetl ass name.

beau’s toy goldendoodle, bart. he’s tiny. he’s playful. he has so much energy. his little tongue is always out. much like his owner, he has the vibe of wearing a propellor hat at all times. what more could you want from a dog.

meera’s black cat, wraith. she has big pretty yellow eyes and a Hoard including socks and some of meera’s cousin’s pokemon cards. she loves to steal things and cause mischief but she’s a babygirl at heart. if she’s not actively planning or executing a heist she has warm vibes and a comforting presence

franklin’s tuxedo cat, tolstoy. he has, like, uncannily human energy. franklin and his mom once watched in terror as he tried to drink from a human water glass and tbh he was getting there before they decided to distract him before he broke the glass. also if franklin has a book out on a chair or a bed and leaves it open tolstoy will Inspect it and it looks like he’s reading.

violet and (nic’s oc) lizzie’s greyhound. in the welcome to night vale au he’s named aphor, the hebrew word for gray, but he doesn’t have a main/modern au name. he’s a bit different from the other depths pets in that he’s imagined as a pet that two main gen ocs would have when they grow up and live together instead of a childhood pet.

lev and (nic’s oc) petyr also have pets as adults but tbh i don’t remember a lot of details. it was two dogs and a cat i think?

sol’s dalmatian, nicholas. tbh i almost forgot about him bc the other pet in his family (see below) gets a lot more attention. but nicholas is basically what would happen if you took a track athlete and turned him into a dog. which is perfect bc sol is a track athlete!

the evil ones:

theodora has a cockatiel named hadrian. he’s just a pompous evil looking little bitch with an evil stare belonging to a complex-but-evil woman.

dani’s dad martin has a little maltese named oscar. dani loves animals generally speaking but she hates oscar with a PASSION and is kind of uncomfortable around dogs bc of growing up with him. he’s tiny but vicious.

the ??? ones:

the “mascot” of the depths, silk scratcher the triumphant (silk for short). he’s a chonky calico cat. he floats a bit depending on the needs of the au but he’s most associated with henry, sandrine/sebastian, and nic’s oc charlotte. in the original lore, he was sandrine’s and then sebastian’s and then charlotte stole him from sebastian when she left him bc that cat very clearly wanted out. then when she moved in with jas/henry/meera he pack bonded with henry. henry is also the one who named him silk scratcher the triumphant, bc he destroyed sebastian’s curtains. silk is classified as ???? bc he has anger issues and nic and i constantly joke about him being a war criminal. but he pack bonds with anyone who has the warrior spirit. basically he’s a cat version of henry.

Tango would try jokingly on the assumption that’s it’s fake and when the sword doesn’t move they’d be a bit perplexed and pull harder, and when that obviously still doesn’t work they’d try increasingly violent and mythbustery methods till they or the stone break (they will break first obviously). They’d never be able to, if Tango’s soul was distilled it would be tinted black with the weights of their deeds, rage and selfishness. They would leave defeated, grumbling and probably physically damaged. As a joke they would suggest Preston try, to make themselves feel better at not being able to remove Excalibur by any method, only to have a what passes for a robotic aneurism when Preston effortlessly removes it. Preston would be so confused at why tango is physically freaking out meanwhile tangos like “I used a fucking missile launcher and a second set of hacked armour and still couldn’t move the blasted thing”. It would be a very confronting experience for Tango and they may have to face that old magic still exists in some places.

Murphy would psych herself out of even touching it, that gif of the husky tippy-tapping on the edge of the pool from indecision? That’s her. ‘What if? But but but the implications!’ If she does pull it, what does that mean for her? She is already the defacto figurehead for the regions mutant population, is she destined to unite the commonwealth??? She can barely keep them from tearing each other’s throats out aaa, heck she has enough trouble keeping the factions from fracturing as it is! And If she doesn’t pull it it would just be validating all of her anxiety that she truly is a monster of awful heart. The stress of either outcome would freak her out enough to decide that it’s better not to know ..

Thorn would not be able to at all, and she knows it. Being ‘pure of heart’ has never been something of value to her at all, power on the other hand.. she would be mostly dismissive of it as myths and stories, but part of her would wonder what such power feels like, would it be everything she strives for? She doesn’t believe in souls and if she did she would have sold hers long ago.

Nathan … this is tricky since current Nathan is not really present in his body most of the time.. as is he probably would not be able to because he is of animalistic demeanour and intelligence, BUT if he is having one of increasingly rare lucid moments he probably could, but those moments are fleeting and few so the chance is incredibly slim.. prewar Nathan yeah for sure but he wouldn’t want to, he doesn’t want the attention.

Slick would be able wield excalibur for sure, and then like Murphy would have a major freak about the implications.. with guidance and a fuckton of confidence building from his friends slick would be an alright leader, though he would never agree to lead on his own, he is very people oriented and tactical, but can struggle to see in the long term. His past as a gunner shattered any confidence he had in himself and has left him very confused that the sword has considered someone like him pure of heart? He doesn’t see what others can..

Libby would not be able to, and it would be bloody close too. she’d be a good sport about it though. So many jokes, but a tiny part of her wonders if it’s because she is a ghoul, does the old magic recognise the true heart through the many walls she’s put up? Or does it recognise corruption of body as a corruption of heart? She unconsciously dwells on this for a long time after, especially if no ghoul is able to wield it. She’s certain that she felt it move, what was it about her that Excalibur didn’t like? Would be 100% in support of Slick or Preston if either of them pulled it though! She’d be so very loud about it too ahah

What is the Family Au?

The Family Au is my personal take on Dodge Greenley's Pibby concept with many of my own, and friend's, characters added. Alongside Pibby, Melira, and Alloy Boy; the story follows Pibby's sister, Libby, her cousin, Daisy, and their companion Axiee (owned by @terraterracotta ) as they try to survive and stop the cartoon apocalypse.

The story only loosely follows Dodge's concept, sharing very sparse story beats and dialouge from the first Pibby trailer, and will be told through a mix of art and writing.

atticus gets so so so into it and he goes crazy in the gift shop

raph is mostly enjoying being somewhere expensive and he’s probably gorging himself on the food and making a lot of horny bard jokes. he would be transfixed by the falcon but if anyone brings it up he’d play it off. also he’s competitive so he gets into the jousting but not in a medieval nerd way he just wants to WIN dammit

henry also gets really into it and gorges himself on the food. he was born to tear a piece of chicken apart with his bare hands and scream the way you do at medieval times and root hardcore for his knight during the joust and just generally behave like a rousing viking

lev likes the animal parts the most, with the falcon and the horse, but he enjoys the jousting as well.

if isadora got a flower she wouldn’t shut up about it. she would make many many jokes about hooking up with the hot knight.

“Who is Avery Kylie Grambs?”

Was a question Alisa had asked before her father had elaborated further on the matter of ‘Avery Kylie Grambs’.

Mr. Ortega was understanding of his daughter's puzzled feelings on the matter, and was well aware that Alisa hadn't been in the best of moods recently.

Ever since the death of Tobias Hawthorne, the media hounded the Hawthorne family and everyone remotely Hawthorne-adjacent for even the tiniest sliver of information they could capitalize; what didn't help was the continuous persistence of Skye, Zara, and Zara's husband Constantine on getting the Will reading over with.

Skye, worst of all, revelling in the attention-hogging media outlets and just barely given enough assurances of the Will reading to not, metaphorically, drop a bomb on the press.

Naturally, Mr. Ortega only discussed the facts with his daughter in regards to the situation of the mystery girl listed in the required presence.

“Avery Kylie Grambs is a seventeen year old girl currently residing in New Castle, Connecticut,” her father had begun with his overview, “her mother had died two years prior, and her biological father is notably absent from her life.”

As her father continued to give a rundown of information on Avery, Alisa had quietly listed each of them down in her head, one by one.

Avery — or as Alisa had referred to her, “Ms. Grambs” — had lost her mother when she was fifteen, and for a majority of her life, her father had been notably absent and hadn't bothered to reach out to her. After the death of her mother, Avery was taken under the care of her half sister— Libby Grambs.

The girl was just barely scraping by, working at a hole-in-the-wall diner. Alisa's eyebrows knitted together as she processed the rest of the information her father provided for her about Ms. Grambs.

Everything else had gone deaf to Alisa, too focused on listening to her father's provided Intel than on anything else; all until Mr. Ortega had finished his overview of Avery's life with, “For the better part of three weeks, the firm had been sending letters to Ms. Grambs inviting her to the reading of Mr. Hawthorne's Will.”

“As of yesterday, Grayson Hawthorne had taken it upon himself to pay a visit to Ms. Grambs’ high school— and she is currently on a flight to Texas with her sister, and is expected to arrive tomorrow.”

Alisa nodded. “And what exactly must I do in regards to Ms. Grambs’ attendance of the Will reading?”

Alisa had expected anything but the response her father had provided her. “You will be representing the firm as her liaison during her visit.”

She blinked a multitude of times, eighteen times, total. “What?”

And that was how she'd gotten her in this situation— exiting a black sedan in an all dare-the-devil-to-ruin-it white power suit, and waiting for Avery and Libby Grambs to move past security.

The second they did, Alisa drew near. “Ms. Grambs,” from one girl to the next, she nodded to Avery, then to her sister, adding on an identical greeting. “Ms. Grambs.”

She turned, very well expecting the two girls to follow and keeping up a professional stance once they did. “I'm Alisa Ortega,” Alisa said, “from McNamara, Ortega, and Jones.”

A pause, then a continuation. “You are a very hard young woman to get ahold of,” Alisa cast a sideways glance at Avery.

To which Avery simply shrugged. “I live in my car.”

“She doesn't live there,” Libby Grambs interjected quickly. “Tell her you don't.”

A hum left Alisa's lips before she continued her very obviously perfunctory speech of greeting for the two Grambs daughters.

“We're so glad you could make it.”

Alisa added, “During your time in Texas, you're to consider yourselves guests of the Hawthorne family. I'll be your liaison to the firm. Anything you need while you're here, come to me.”

Casting another glance at Avery, Alisa could guess what the girl was thinking from a mile away; Usually, lawyers bill by the hour, but the Hawthorne family was a family with more means than the average family.

She has a very expressive face, Alisa thought, barely managing to stop a bare hint of a smirk on her face.

“Is there anything I can do for you?” Alisa asked, striding toward an automatic door without so much as slowing her pace when it seemed like the door might not open in time.

Avery waited before she could reply. “How about some information?”

What a way to narrow it down. “You'll have to be more specific.”

“Do you know what's in the will?”

“I do not.”

Turning a corner, Alisa gestured to a black sedan idling near the curb, opening the back door for Avery and her sister before she occupied the passenger seat.

She sent the driver — one of Oren's men — a glance. And in reply, they grunted out an acknowledgement to go along with a nod.

Only then did Alisa continue speaking. “You’ll find out what's in the will soon enough,” Alisa said, her words crisp and neat as much as her dare-the-devil-to-ruin-it white suit.

“We all will. The reading is scheduled for shortly after your arrival at Hawthorne House.”

Based on the dazed expressions from both Avery and her sister, Alisa could at least understand their befuddlement. Hawthorne House, not the Hawthornes’ house. Like some kind of English manor, complete with its own name.

“Is that where we'll be staying?” Libby Grambs asked, her head tilted. “Hawthorne House?”

“You'll have your pick of bedrooms,” Alisa assured, leaning the side of her face against her fist. “Mr. Hawthorne bought the land the House is built on more than fifty years ago and spent every one of those years adding into the architectural marvel he built there.”

Alisa looked out of the window, the black sedan passing by a multitude of sky-high office buildings, hotels. With the movements of those outside slowed down.

“I've lost track of the number of bedrooms, but it's upward of thirty. Hawthorne House is… quite something.”

To which Avery pressed her luck by saying, “I'm guessing Mr. Hawthorne was quite something, too?”

Alisa gave the ‘mystery girl’ a glance. “Good guess,” she said, “Mr. Hawthorne was fond of good guessers.”

Assessing the look on Avery's face, Alisa pitied the girl. A girl who knew nothing on why she was listed in the Will, none the wiser to anything the old man had planned for this day.

It was Avery's sister's turn to ask questions, now. “How well did you know him?”

“My father has been Tobias Hawthorne's attorney since before I was born.” Alisa's voice softened. She thought about her father, her mother, the love they shared; the time she spent in Hawthorne House, getting lost in the walls of the mansion and playing games of mystery and puzzle solving.

“I spent a lot of time at Hawthorne House, growing up.”

Tobias Hawthorne wasn't just a client to Alisa. He was more than that. It wasn't just his grandsons the old man had a hand in raising.

“Do you have any idea why I'm here?” Asked Avery. “Why he'd leave me anything at all?”

“Are you the world-saving type?”

Hardly an ordinary question, Avery must've thought. Alisa would've agreed; but she felt obligated to assess who Avery Kylie Grambs was— where she stood.

“No?” The tone of Avery's voice was of the guessing type.

Another question. A continuation, a curiosity. “Ever had your life ruined by a Hawthorne?”

Avery sounded more sure of herself when she answered. “No.”

Alisa smiled, but it didn't quite reach her eyes. She thought about that vow she'd made, that promise to both herself... and to Nash. Never lose your heart to a Hawthorne.

“Lucky you.”

Trash talker, though ultimately uninventive about it

Average at pvp shooters and that’s what they’ll tell you they play, but secretly loves point and click adventures, the less dialog the better. (Ie Machinairum)

Hard to tell if they’re enjoying the game or the insulting more, but all is all having a good time

Annoying winner and a cranky loser

Picks armour clothes and weapons for the looks even if the stats suck.

In minecraft is good at redstone but will hog all the the resources they mine in the process, good luck convincing them to build you contraptions, refuses to wear a pumpkin so gets beat up by endermen occasionally

Murphy:

Unfairly good at rhythm games, she just really enjoys them! (ie Rhythm Heaven, curse of the necrodancer)

Is a sucker for gaming on any kind of contraption or gimmick (ds, arcades, pinball, those cheap video game tie in handhelds)

Mic off vc off she does NOT want to hear you rage (Tango)

Prefers multiplayer games to be team based or pve, like slick she’s here for fun not to flex on noobs.

In Minecraft she’s mostly farming, taming animals and making nice paths / gardens for other peoples houses, isn’t very creative otherwise. Hates the drowned.

Slick:

Loves games with lots of text and/or lore to find. Also would love to positively post about them.

Is a sucker for linear unspoken story based games (ie Abzu, Stray)

Story / Easy mode advocate, he’s here for fun after a stressful day at work.

Hates idle games as a genera, what’s the point??

In Minecraft he’s building his house with lore and story reasons for why it looks that way, everything’s got a reason for being there. Homes have hearths, libraries, workshops, bedrooms, bathrooms and everything. Names his creatures.

Libby:

Will skip through dialog to get back to the action, and subsequently annoys slick alot with questions answered if she’d slowed down and listened.

Likes absurd, unrealistic racing games like asphault, especially gimmicky modes like infected

Picks armour for stats much to the distain of Tango, who cares if you look silly when you negate 90% fire damage!

Big fan of absurd melee weapons in games, ie gigantic hammers, not-weapon objects being used as weapons, half the weapons in monster hunter

In Minecraft is running around fighting mobs and caving, desperately wants to find a saddle so she can go faster. Would place a bed in the nether. Creeper magnet.

Thorn:

Also likes to insult, but unlike Tango is creatively mean about it without cursing or rage

Pokémon fan, ev trains and iv breeds etc, (where’s the whimsy? She’s doesn’t care she’s crushing fools in online) Doesn’t care about having favourite monsters

Good at pvp shooters, will camp and other shitty tactics.

Rts queen, get blindsided by her army of chariots while you’re still in the dark age in aoe2

Has done awful things in the sims.

In Minecraft is enchanting and speeding to the end. Doesn’t give a damn about having a nice house. Will kill you for your loot.

Nathan (prewar):

Adores split screen multiplayer, pizza and beer! <3

Is a sucker for co-op story games or games where you can play the story with co-op. like it baldurs gate 3, portal 2, legend of Spyro: dawn of the dragon etc.

Isn’t great but is having a great time! Especially if gaming online with friends or all at a mates place

Quite enjoys sim type games, when is he ever going to get the chance to drive a real train after all!
