Ahhh i did it!! I managed to finish a drawing again, as well as think about my overwatch ocs again. God its been a while and I've been on a redesign grind. So this will be a fun little way to kinda reintroduce some of my ocs!

woe, contextless oc writing be upon ye direct sequel to The Breaking of Ludwik Nowak, set almost exactly two months later Aleksander is an oc belonging to @alexkellerenthusiast

Ludwik wakes up feeling pretty damn good.

A full night of sleep does wonders; his energy levels are up, and so is his mood, so he decides he’s going to get things done today. He takes a long-ish shower, revels in the hot water, picks out a favourite shampoo and fills the air with strawberry-scented steam. Gets dressed in colours that old-him would’ve approved of, lilac and pastel blue, and spends a few minutes looking at himself in the mirror, congratulating himself on his progress. Heads downstairs, whips up some toast, slathers it in blackberry jam. 

Sure, in an ideal world he wouldn’t be spending the morning alone; he misses Aleks, is acutely aware of the silence and empty space beside him. This is the longest they’ve been apart in two months. It hurts, and is uniquely terrifying in a way he’s not quite used to, but he’ll manage. He’s not the same man as he was after Warsaw, nor before, but maybe that’s okay. He can be a new version of himself

And then he sits down in front of the TV, and the news comes on.

The plate of toast hits the floor.

It can’t be real. It can’t be. Ludwik rubs at his eyes, pinches himself, convinced it has to be a dream, but it’s not. The images on the screen remain unchanged, the headline too.

The reporter goes on to describe carnage. Lists off the number of dead, the destruction caused, how one squad did it all and are now on the run. Familiar names flash in front of him, one burning its way into his brain above all.

Aleksander Nowak. Terrorist.

His appetite is gone, mood soured. Panic claws at the edges of his mind as he tries to make sense of it all. They’d gone to resolve problems, not cause them, right? Even if things had gone wrong, badly wrong, Aleks would never have let this many civilians die, would never do anything that could jeopardise his ability to return home, to come back to Ludwik.

So why is the news set on declaring him a criminal?

It hits Ludwik like a brick, realisation clearing his mind in an instant. A frame job. A set-up. There’s no other option; somebody, for whatever reason, is letting Aleks and the others take the blame for this atrocity. Sickness curdles in his stomach, helplessness threatening to make itself at home again. He can feel it coming, the urge to curl up in bed and cry and cry and cry, and let this new disaster set him back miles.

But…

Something in Ludwik’s brain twists. A crack forms. The encroaching despair splinters and disintegrates. He knows what he has to do.

He cleans up his dropped breakfast, wolfs down one of the slices as he does so, pulls on his shoes and is out the door within minutes, car keys in hand. Next stop: Hereford Base, R&D.

Aleks saved him, despite the odds. Time for Ludwik to return the favour. Whatever it takes.
