Hello! I’m so sorry for the delay, but I hope you enjoy it! :D

Kiss Prompt – A Kiss on the Nose (please send me more!)

Pairing: Farahx f!Detective (Annie Tomás)

Word Count: ~800

Annie had a stressful week.

“–Then we couldn’t find some receipts for a stupid paper shipment! We looked everywhere for it. I had Douglas and some volunteers digging through boxes in storage, I dug through every file we had–!”

Farah sits across from Annie at their favorite table by the window. By the time they got to Haley’s Bakery, the sun already sat beneath the horizon. Now, the Square’s streetlights bathe the cobblestone street in a soft, gentle glow, and the last dregs of purple sky slink away.

“I’m not even good with numbers!” Annie says as she shoves her face into her hands. “I thought I could do it since I had the entire week but it just…slipped away from me.”

Frustration leaked into Annie’s voice though she tried to stem it by biting down on her bottom lip… a little too hard, evident by the blood that came to the surface. Farah’s breath hitches, and she can’t help but tense the slightest in her seat. The blood is swiped away by Annie’s tongue before she brings her mug to her lips.

Farah smiles at the pout her girlfriend fails to hide. “It’s okay, babe, I know you tried your best.”

“I could’ve tried harder.” Annie’s reply is mumbled. “I could’ve done better.”

“Maybe,” Farah says with a small shrug, “But it’s the weekend now and we can do whatever we want! Forget about it until Monday, okay?”

Annie doesn’t reply so Farah scoots their chairs closer together with her brightest expression.

“I think Nate said something about it snowing this weekend. You can finally show me what snow angels are–“ Farah’s cut off by Annie’s sharp, rattly intake of breath. “Annie—”

A whimper escapes Annie’s tight lips. She slaps her hands over her mouth but can’t stop her shoulders from quaking and the tears from leaking free.

“I tried so hard, Farah,” she cries, “it was due today and I couldn’t get it done! I promised Mom and everyone that I could handle this!”

“H-Hey…” Farah touches her shoulder with a tentative smile. Out of the corner of her eye, she sees Haley throw a concerned look in their direction. Farah gives her a reassuring wave. “Rebecca isn’t worried about spending audits–”

“I promised I could handle both the station and working with the team! The town, and supernaturals, and blood drives, and spending audits! What good am I to the team if I can’t fulfill even my basic responsibilities?”

Farah bites her lip, a shimmer in her amber eyes. “I don’t–”

Annie chokes down a tear soaked sob, “What if she asks me to quit again? What if Adam asks me to quit! Oh my God, I could be fired–! It was due today!”

“Annie!” Farah seizes Annie’s shoulders, turning her in her chair so they meet each other’s eyes. “Of course they won’t! You work so hard, they’ll be dumb to even think about that.” Tenderly, Farah’s fingers wipe away treks of tears. “Adam loves you. Nate and Morgan love you. Not as much as me. Obviously…”

A laugh sputters out of Annie, and Farah grins and continues, “There’s really nothing you could do to make anyone love you less. No matter how hard you try.”

“I know,” says Annie, dabbing at her eyes with her sweater sleeve, “I’m so sorry, Farah. This is ridiculous. I know I should be stronger than this by now.”

“You don’t need to be strong, Annie. You need to be loved.” Farah presses a kiss to the tip of Annie’s nose, still wet with a few stray tears. A smile blooms across Annie’s face, her dark eyes shining. Farah can feel her heart squeeze in the most amazing way. Her words take a moment to come back to her. “And I don’t know what a “spending audit” is, but that sounds boring enough to be right up Adam’s alley. He’d love to help you.”

“He’s busy enough, he doesn’t need to…”

“Annie.”

A sigh. “I’ll ask him tomorrow.”

“Great!” Farah presses another kiss to Annie’s temple, and moves to whisper in her ear, “But until then, I know what can distract you from all that.”

“Do you?” Annie drops her voice to a low whisper with those words and a shiver shoots through Farah’s core. The flush that heats her skin spreads when Annie trails her hands up her sides. “And what are you suggesting, Agent Hauville?”

“Can’t tell you. Guess we gotta get out of here and find out.”

Annie doesn’t fight her smile that grows brighter or the fresh flush of color that paints her wet cheeks. After paying for the coffee and uneaten strawberry tart, the two women walk out hand in hand, fingers laced, and the week’s stress left mostly forgotten.

Annie giggles, “Babe, your eyes are closed in this one too!” Farah barely lifts her head. After looking at the picture, she shrugs and shifts to hug Annie’s arm. The movement displaces some of the blossoms in her hair.

“Yeah but I look so comfy and happy!” Farah nuzzles her face against Annie’s shoulder. “You’re such a great cuddler, you can’t blame me, babe.”

“It’s for the best anyway,” Annie sighs. Her hand drifts over Farah’s hair affectionately, adjusting the blossoms as she does. “If your eyes were open, I’d be too busy staring into them to do anything else.”

Farah laughs, “Whatever! The real thing is so much better.”

Annie couldn’t argue with that.

6. What is their swimwear like?

Beneath a cut so I don’t bombard people’s dashes with swimsuit photos.

Kai

Kai wears brightly colored/patterned jammers that reach his knee. He likes their sleek look compared to most other men’s swim trunks.

Innes

They’ll cover up a bit more and have more of a focus on elegance with flowy and dramatic cover ups, wraps, and sunhats.

Annie

She probably has multiple swim suits and will mix and match them. Her swimwear usually features things like bows and ruffles and she adores a cute vintage adjacent look!

Aust

She’d wear bikinis and rash guards (preferably red). She’d also be interested in swimsuits with interesting lines and structural straps.

19. Did they ever have a quick summer fling?

Kai

He’s a huge romantic and though the idea appeals to him.... he could never just have a fling. He’d get too attached too fast and try to make it long term.

This either crumbles because they only knew each other for That One Week in summer and then never saw each other again and long distance is hard, or he met some guy closer to home and had a boyfriend going into the next school term.

So to answer the question, yes but also no.

Innes

I think they would’ve indulged in that a few times, definitely! Like if they were traveling by themselves and met an attractive stranger who wanted to take them out to dinner they would indulge in that.

But the night would end at the restaurant, and they’d probably never speak again.

Annie

Once Annie got to college and started exploring her bisexuality, she started casually dating a lot of women, especially during summer when school was less of a focus.

She’d meet girls at the boardwalk, the park, maybe a museum or in shops and they’d meet up for dates and kiss and hang out until it naturally fizzled out.

She looks back on those times and those relationships very fondly.

Aust

Summer flings would be no where on Aust’s mind. She’s a very in the moment person usually; unless she really likes you, she probably won’t be thinking much about you if you weren’t already hanging out with her.

Short answer; no. She has to really like someone to want to get together with them, and that takes time.

9: What career would they have if they weren’t a detective?

Kai: Marine Biologist. He has a Bachelor’s in Biology and would’ve gotten a Master’s if it weren’t for being forced into police service.

Innes: A freelance artist. Maybe have an Etsy shop for watercolor prints, or do some digital work for clients here and there.

Annie: A novelist or an editor! She loves writing and reading (maybe enough to rival N?)

Aust: Some street fighter punk, maybe a stunt double, maybe a volunteer firefighter even. She doesn’t have a specific dream job, just something fast and exciting.

21: Favorite place to be kissed?

Kai: Neck (RIP to Kai when he’s romancing Nate LOL).

Innes: Stomach and hips.

Annie: Shoulders.

Aust: Back and honestly she loves being kissed where she’s ticklish (mostly around her stomach but also her back)

27: How do they act around a crush?

Kai: He’s confident and goes out of his way to impress them. Not shy in asking them out.

Innes: Shy and a little nervous. More conscious of their looks, but doesn’t change their behavior much.

Annie: Giddy with excitement. She loves new crushes! Kind of goes about it in a methodical way, like “I do this and they’ll do this” kind of thing until they’re in a relationship or the crush has passed.

Aust: Shy. The shyest of them all. Doesn’t really know what to do with herself around them. Tongue tied and a blushing mess.

1. What are their favorite places to travel?

Kai

He enjoys hiking, but also unique food scenes. So he’d probably make a plan to go hike in some forest/mountain range that’s close-ish to eclectic cities.

Innes

They’re similar to Nat in that they like nature but also love the luxuries of modern life, so they’d prefer traveling to places with a thriving tourist industry that’s beside a major loch or a seaport. Also day trips through national forests, as long as modern luxury waited for them at the end of the day.

Annie

She loves traveling though she hasn’t gotten to do much of it! Annie has this idealized dream of being a jetsetter and traveling every other month and enjoying what the world has to offer... she’s just never had the chance to do it (or has never taken the chance).

She’d prefer very fashionable places or historical places, like Paris, Milan, Athens, etc.

Aust

Aust wants any vacation to feel like a far off destination. She wants to feel “away” you know? So it doesn’t matter as long as it’s hours and a plane/boat away from Wayhaven.

Also there needs to be a lot of things for her to do.

2. So they have a favorite summer memory?

I answered this here for Innes (a trip to Loch Carron) but I can’t think of any for the others. 😔

19. How would the antagonist describe your OC?

From Murphy’s perspective...

Kai: “That fucker broke my nose!”

Innes: “They were so amicable the entire time, so compliant unlike most humans.” His tongue darts across his lips, lapping up the memory of Nessie’s fear and blood. “I’d love to see them again for a quick bite.”

Annie: Murphy shrugs, “Well, she tasted divine.”

Aust: “Ugh,” Murphy’s eyes roll with such force he sways in his chair, “I’ve never met someone so annoying. I should’ve broken her brain, at least she would’ve stopped talking.”

From Falk’s perspective...

Kai: Falk casts a sad smile towards the floor, “I wish I could see him again. So confident and brash, yet...he has such a softness to him I...” he takes in a shakey inhale before pursing his lips, “I wish things had been different.”

Innes: “Ah,” affection catches on his features, “Detective Calimeris is a good human. Kind, even when they’re afraid of us. A rarity indeed.” Falk runs fingers along his chin with the shadow of a smile, “I’m looking forward to seeing them again. Sooner rather than later.”

Annie: A smile brightens Falk’s features. “Detective Tomás has been a great friend to us. We have so much to thank her for; our home, and the protection we’ve been given. More humans should follow her example.”

Aust: “Hmm,” Falk purses her lips while his brows wrinkle in distaste, “Yes, that human that Sanja favors for whatever reason.” He sighs, “She’s an adequate representative for the Agency if a bit...unorthodox.”

Under the read more to spare everyone from silly Detective shenanigans.

First up is Annie v. Innes! Let’s watch...

Nessie’s eyes flick around to all of the cameras, but even the nerves building up isn’t enough to give Annie an advantage. Willing all of her strength into her arm isn’t enough to stop Innes’s onslaught, but she keeps trying! Annie’s face flushes red during the struggle. Only the grit of Nessie’s teeth and the shift of their jaw shows any effort on their part. Within seconds Annie’s knuckles hit the mat.

Annie hangs her head in defeat.

I ignore Nessie’s resigned groan as I announce “Innes moves onto the next round!”

Innes v. Aust

Aust grins brightly across the table from Innes, who looks less than thrilled to be here but still offers their arm with a determined glint in their eye. Is that...competitiveness I’m seeing???

Let’s watch. ༼✷ɷ✷༽

Both of their arms flex with sudden effort once the bell goes off. Aust’s grin only grows with excitement the harder Nessie pushes against her arm. With an extra kick of pure adrenaline, the muscles of Aust’s forearm flex and push. Nessie just manages to stop the assault, their hands hovering just a few inches off the table.

The respite is short lived. A battle cry tears out of Aust and Nessie’s hand finally slams onto the mat.

Nessie sinks back in their seat with a tired breath while Aust jumps to her feet.

“Hell yeah, baby!”

Onto our final round! Aust v. Kai!

Both competitors flash defiant smirks, chins tilting in challenge in a way that reminds me of everyone’s favorite Commanding Agent...

Lesedi! ( ﾟ▽ﾟ) Ah ha ha... anyway let’s watch!

The bell goes off. It’s a nail biter! Their hands grasp each other in a vice grip, arms quaking back and forth with effort.

Aust’s brow dips with concentration, “Prepare to die, Matsui.”

“Tell me what Hell is like, Brooks,” Kai says through the tight line of his mouth.

The seconds drag on. Hard pants break up Aust’s even breathing and her grip starts to slip. Her hand approaches the mat. Kai sucks in steady breaths through his nose and pushes his advantage.

Aust grasps their knotted fists with her other hand, gaining back precious space. Indignant, Kai’s mouth drops open. He quickly adds his own sparr hand, pushing with all his effort. Finally Aust’s knuckles crack against the mat, quickly followed by her head banging against the table in defeat.

Kai springs to his feet, hands raised with a laugh.

And the winner is Kai! Congratulations, Kai!

🌹 How would Annie react to romantic gestures, expected or not?

On the surface, Annie would be “appropriately flustered.” She can’t be too excited about receiving attention, she has to be the “right amount of bashful” or people might think she’s overreacting.

So if Farah did a very grand gesture for her, like filling her office with hundreds of beautiful spring flowers (probably with some guidance from Nate), Annie would on the outside smile wide and hug Farah so hard and kiss her so much.

And on the inside she would be SO EXCITED and internally screaming like ‘Oh. My. God. This is such a cute gift, Farah is beyond amazing, I can’t believe this is happening (squeeeeaaaal)’ which you know is the kind of reaction Farah would want! But Annie is very uh... not good at letting herself go like that.

💎 What kind of gemstone would Annie prefer on her engagement or wedding ring?

My color for her is pink, so I’m inclined to say something like a pink sapphire. But I also think she would love opals or pearls. Like if she had a pearl in her ring, just the daintiest setting on the daintiest princess cut ring, she would absolutely make sure pearls featured heavily in her and Farah’s wedding.

Farah I imagine would get something similar ring and setting, but maybe something that skewed more vibrant like a topaz or citrine.

💛 In what ways does Annie express her love to Farah?

Annie is very much about physical touch and quality time. They have dates pretty often that span the entire day, where they’re just having fun and enjoying each other’s company.

Because it’s something Farah values, Annie will also shower Farah with literally all of the gifts. Cute things, soft things, buttons, hair accessories, fashion scarves, hats; ALL of the things.

She also gets very into the idea of matching with Farah on her dates.
