I’ll cut it for being long and also sort of spoilers. And also blood tw.

Just for like. An explanation if it’s not entirely obvious, Charlie’s greatest fear is hurting any of the kids, or just kind of like. Losing their trust in general. Around this point in the timeline, Lloyd’s made it extremely clear that he doesn’t trust Charlie (and for. Good reason.), but is trying to give her the benefit of the doubt bc she hasn’t tried sabotaging them in any way, and the kids really really like her. Charlie ended up caring about them farrrr more than she thought she would, and with Lloyd’s deep distrust of her, and her knowing her own track record and history, she’s afraid of hurting the kids whether it be purposely or not.

Hope u like it, this took me ENTIRELY too long.

My Chaos Space Marine

"Did you hear about that thing that followed Charlie home?"

"I hear it has extra mouths..."

"I hear when they get that big they're stuck in their armor."

"Why haven't the Ultramarines killed it?"

"Asked my son and he said his astartis told him that their hands are tied."

"Well someone should do something about that thing."

Charlie bit her bottom lip as she felt tears well up in her eyes as she guessed that this supposed summer of love had very little love for Karth... yeah she was scared when Karth showed up and followed her back from camp. Everyone thought it was cool when the feral warband wandered nearby.

But then he followed her home. His arm a twisted spikey mess... the face grill now a vertical jaw... 5 eyes going up a large horn on the left side of his head... his armor twitching like flesh... he was disgusting to look at but... she knows she could feel it. They always said that Astartes followed people because they were bonded and people can't feel it but Charlie swore she could.

Her parents were trying to get her to get rid of him or else. They knew someone with a Dark Angel... and they didn't have qualms like other Astartes to get rid of "unsightly" ones.

Back at home Charlie stuffed her bag full of clothes and the envelope of cash that was suppose to go toward her going to college. Dad was against it but mom put it that it might be a good way for her to meet a man... no she had Karth and until someone could love both Karth and her... she didn't need anyone else.

The several blue eyes watched her bedroom until it opened up and he caught her as she jumped out the window. Chittering quietly as he could feel her hug him tightly and he held her tightly before he broke into a dead sprint.

They would be long gone... long gone into that early summer morning. Maybe one day Charlie would come back... maybe apologize for her decision to leave but as Karth had said... a little bit of Chaos in people's lives makes and breaks them in different ways. It was her turn to spread her wings and fly.

And fly she did.
