Mist Squad | The Masterlist

Part of the 767th Battalion - a recon force specialized in locating, capturing targets and rescue allies -, the Mist Squad is an ARF unit focused on the capture side of things. Led by the experienced Sergeant Tooka, and aided by their highly trained massiffs, the squad has an excellent rate of successful missions.

SERGEANT TOOKA | ARF | CT-8652 A seasoned trooper who has been at the lead of many successful operations before settling as the Sergeant of Mist Squad. His gruff exterior and tired eyes do well to convey the permanent "single, weary father of five" role he's been stuck in since taking over the squad. His daughter massiff is Socks, a large, scarred female who has been by his side since cadet days.

GAZE | Sniper | CT-4293 The most recent squad's addition, transferred after the loss of his sight and original squad during an infiltration mission gone horribly wrong. Voluntold to receive a pair of experimental, enhanced cybernetic prosthetics that restored his sight (at the cost of his health). Choosing to survive both out of spite and his unchecked, trauma-born emotional dependency towards anyone who talks to him for 0.5 seconds.

CHEESE | Medic | CT-2437 As fiery as the auburn locks on his head, the medic and second oldest is easily the heart of the Mist Squad. Cheese is intent on making sure his brothers are taken care of to the best of his abilities - both physically and emotionally - even if it means literally strong-arming them into self-care. Cheese's massiff is Aid, who bravely dives snout-first into the battlefield besides him, carrying the medical kits necessary to patch up the squad, even during active battle.

BEDBUG | ARF | Tracking Specialist | CT-2252 One of the best trackers of his squad (and the 767th as a whole). Fueled by a seemingly endless reserve of restless energy, Bedbug is always moving - be it exercising with his massiff Burr, be it fidgeting or taking apart whatever object is unlucky enough to end up in his hands during downtime. His eerie, nigh unbreakable focus during missions is balanced by a hair-graying lack of impulse control outside them. Despite the squad's eagle-eyed attempts at keeping Bedbug on their sights during leave, he's still managed to rack up a forked tongue and sharpened teeth, besides the too many piercings and tattoos scattered around his body.

CHARM | ARF | Infiltration Specialist | CT-2253 The team's best slicer and hacker, and indispensable asset during infiltration missions. Named after the feat he pulled during one of his first missions when he, somehow, charmed a meal (his vod, Cheese) out of a young Kryat's dragon mouth. His massiff, Dinui (mando'a for 'gift'), is not only a work partner but also son, pride, joy, and the reason Charm is always peniless despite often taking side jobs whenever the GAR isn't looking. He'll be damned if he'll let his boy have anything but the absolute best he's able to provide.

CAKE | ARF | Explosives Specialist | CT-2254 Youngest batchmate of Charm and Bedbug (by a mere ten seconds they won't ever let him forget), the squad's trap and explosives specialist is also an incurable trickster. Always down for shenanigans and seamlessly pinning the blame on his vode, pranking is his love language. The only who seems to be immune to his antics is Sugar, his massiff. She is not immune to Cake's 'fashion sense', tho, always found with armor (and scarves when off-duty) carefully color coordinated with his own outfits.

Why are the Mist boys all ticking bombs (except Cake. This one is more like an unmarked landmine waiting for someone to step on it)

Gaze is a foot and a half in the grave, and sinking fast.

Charm's devotion to his vode is slow but steadily dragging him to the Dark side of the Force.

Tooka's injuries are taking longer to stop hurting with each mission, and the aches are his constant companions. But he needs to push trough it and not let it slow him down, the squad depends on him.

Cheese's mental health is kept afloat with the help of his service massiff, but there's only so much weight Aid can help shoulder, when the war wages on and his vode keep dying and the guilt keeps piling up.

Bedbug's 'adventures' get the more risky and borderline destructive because he needs the thrill to be harder than the horrors he sees in the battlefield, but this war is hell and there's no end in sight. If he's going to die, then it's better if it's doing something that gives him some joy.. Right?

And then there's Cake. Who's watching the war kill his brother's spirits and knowing there's nothing he can possibly do to make it better. There's only so much that pranks and jokes can do to distract them from their harsh reality. He's at his limit and one failed mission away from setting them all free.

Being Bedbug's partner is... Intense.

His thoughts may seem to be all over the place (and in some way, they are), but when his attention catches on something - like his lover -, all his focus locks on it.

It can be unnerving to some, to be constantly perceived by a lover like that. He's not one to stare (at least not when he knows he'll get caught 😌), but he's always observing. Learning what makes you tick, your habits and quirks.

Not because he wants to control or change you. But because he wishes to adapt his behavior to fit as seamlessly as he can in your routine. Because he wants to surround himself with everything that's you.

Look. If there was a soundtrack for when Bedbug is on someone's trail, this is it, this is the song. Like, YES, those are his thoughts while on the hunt. It's a blood sport for him. He's wicked good at playing it. And, he might get a little kick from letting the target(s) gain some ground once or twice – yeah, it's mean to play cat-and-mouse – but he lives for the thrill.

CAKE has reamers in both ears, lip ring, nipples and navel piercing.

BEDBUG's tonge is pierced, and he's got three barbells subdermals on his nape.

CHARM has a septum piercing, and three in redacted places.

While Burr's name is a silly pun from Bedbug (with both his name own and their excellent tracking skills), it also has a smidge of truth in the massiff's behavior.

He is not a pup who trusts easily, but when Burr does like someone, he's just like the pesky, thorny seed. Said being will be hard pressed to not be followed around (goodbye privacy) and smothered under his body cuddled and asked to play whenever visiting the barracks/stumbled upon on his daily hikes.

He's just a pup who loves his chosen companions very much and who must let them know every second of the day how much they are the best thing in his little world (after Bedbug, of course. No one in the galaxy beats his dad on awesomeness.)

he is, and he will forever claim it is a crime! Just because one time he started cooking and then got distracted while the oven was on, now he's banned forever.

The fire wasn't even that bad.

Yet, the grudge holds strong 😔

Tooka tells dad jokes and has the softest hair. Bedbug gives the best cuddles. ( which i would like to sign up for.)

truee! Tooka tells jokes because he wants his loved ones to laugh. He can't really come up with quick ones so he surfs the holonet on his free time and jots down his favorites (yes he has a booklet of jokes. they are... a corny, acquired taste. he's trying his best okay 😂)

And his hair is kept in a braid because it's 1: easy to keep out of the way, 2: as a protective style. He takes excellent care of it and keeps a simple — but effective — haircare routine that keeps his locks very soft, shiny and pretty. Touching his hair is a privilege reserved to a few loved ones 😌 He does love to cuddle once he's all tuckered out after his daily shenanigans, and the quality of them depend on if you like laying on top of people lol. He wants his partner/cuddle buddy to lay on top of him - like, just go and smother him, you've been chosen as his personal weighted blanket.

In a happier, everybody lives!AU, I don't think the Mist boys would take part in the rebellion, or even settle in a quiet, off-grid farmer's life. They're both fed up with having to fight for a cause, and too used to the high stakes to even know how to slow down (I don't think Bedbug and Cake would even survive it, hah).

I can see them becoming bounty hunters, mercenaries, or pirates. Something that allows for them to not be in constant danger but still have the credits, and freedom to see the places they've always wanted, and do whatever they want.

They still may have a place to go back to during downtime, like a house in an unnamed planet, but the true home would be the ship.

If they find partners who would rather settle down in a planet, that would be one of the few reasons one of them would build a home to spend more time planet side. Still, it's unlikely they'd completely abandon the high adrenaline lifestyle (maybe if they have kids, tho. A ship is no place to raise a little one. Do not be fooled, the retirement would last until the kiddo was old enough to reach the ship's controls ahjsdhgasd).

He often sings in the shower/bath! Most of the time, having hot water is a luxury whenever he's outside Kamino, and finally enjoying it makes him super happy. And he chooses to share the joy by belting out some of his favorite songs (which, for someone who's always full of energy, are surprisingly mellow). Thankfully, he's got both good singing voice and rhythm.

Bedbug is surprisingly good at braiding and styling hair. Because Cake never cut his hair again after graduating from cadet, he thought he might as well take some of the burden out of his youngest brother's hands. That it happens to be great bonding activity and the repetitive motions soothe his hyperactive brain are a really great side effect, too.

Not sure if there's a named “-core” for his aesthetic, so I'll go with words, if it's alright?

- Someone, underwater, reaching out to an offered hand. It's unclear if the hand is a friend from above, or a foe from the depths.

- Nighttime, sitting in the edge of a skyscraper abandoned while it was still being built. The lights of the city are bright and warm light the sun, reaching just below the person's boots, who watches life go by, in the shadows.

- A flower crown of red gladiolus, too loose around his head, falling over his eyes. The color of flowers seem to melt down his face. Oh. It's not the flowers.

💌 How would they react to a love letter?

Might as well change his name to "Giddy", because that's how he'll be acting for the rest of the week (or longer). Catch Bedbug on his bunk, reading it over and over again – feet kicking, pillow-screaming, telling (to a very confused) Burr all about the sweet things the person wrote him.

Tooka or Cheese will have to physically capture and sit down the man to stop him from hurriedly jumping into a relationship – or engagement, if the letter comes from a partner; because he's now in love and must speak back his own confession (yeah he falls in – and out of – love at the drop of a hat, no he's not working on it).

In the case of someone who's not his partner, once he calms down (and if the infatuation hasn't died) he will write back to the person in hopes of starting something with them. 🌹 Do they have a signature scent? Perfume, shampoo or alike?

It varies so much, he's always on the move trying to burn out that seemingly endless well of energy feeding his body (too bad it's ADHD you can't burn it out, my dear bug), but all he does is burn trough body sprays and the barracks' allotted hot water.

He steals grabs what's the closest to him when his runs out. But while it lasts, he uses a fire fruit punch one, and under all the plastoid and blaster smoke, he's often smelling kinda citrus-y.

CAKE

Summer! More specifically, high summer. Why? He hates, with the power of a thousand suns, to be even minimally cold.

Cake would rather have to constantly keep his hair braided/in a bun to avoid sweating away, than bundling up in two layers of blacks and wool socks and thick gloves, and still not feeling his face or fingers or toes or- let's just say he's really not okay with being chilly.

I'm going to pick two random ocs to tell you about to see how they would get along with yours. Shriek: Both Ori'vod and Vod'ika coded. Almost always causing some kind of shenanigan be it personally or by using vod'ike from other units. This is how she shows affection, she developed this as a cadet by getting Cody to sit on a pudding cup and getting off easy since it was the first time Cody and Rex had seen their new vod'ika laugh or smile. Meowster Windu the Tooka: This is the unofficial mascot of the 213th, He's the pet tooka of their jedi Mirasava "Mira" Nova. She named him after her master Mace Windu. He's very affectionate and tends to "adopt" a lot of people he deems as his humans or his strange bipedal kittens. Dogma is currently being treated as a sad tooka kitten who can't feed/hunt for himself ( he brings him all sorts of snacks with no explanation)

Shriek: Shenanigans, you say? That’s the siren’s call for Cake! He’s both an incurable prankster and a vod’ika, and would be absolutely delighted to bond with her over causing all types of inconveniences and (lighthearted) misery on their squads (and maybe some actual misery on some nat borns, so it’s advised she jumps off, or reason with him if he gets a little too excited about causing problems). Less often (but not reluctantly at all), Charm and Bedbug will be happy to enrich themselves with a prank spree.

Meowster Windu: Cue Stardust pushing everyone out of the way to get access to the baby. Save for Bedbug (who tookas seem to avoid for some reason) and Charm (allergic to their fur) who are not really tooka people, the Mist Squad boys + Stardust would probably fall over each other trying to gain Meowster’s favor lmao. They adore animals, and have a friendly one visiting the med bay or the barracks? What a blessed day! Depending on the visit frequency, tooka beds, toys, and treats (if Mira is alright with him being fed by others) will start popping up in the barracks.
