JEKYLL INTO THE JEKYLL-VERSE

Okay so I’ve been working on this for a few days now, and essentially, you know how Worse than I had thought is just a J&H crossover based off of the spider verse movies? Yeah. Well. I decided to draw that idea in its full glory!! So here they are!!!

I’d like to make a mention that some of these Jekyll’s belong to people I know!

Mind Jekyll (or Mindkyll) and Harry Jekyll, pictured top right, belong to @leonenjoyer69

And Molly/May, pictured second row leftmost side belong to @syr3n-go-merp

The Jekyll in the middle is WTIHT Jekyll, who belongs to me

The Jekyll’s to his right are OG Jekyll and Musical Jekyll respectively, and to his left are TGS Jekyll and 2015 Jekyll

The nerd Jekyll with dual coloured hair is Jackson Jekyll from monster high, and the all white Jekyll beside him is MAZM Jekyll from the game Hyde and Seek!

This took 9 hours and a bit in total and is probably the biggest thing I’ve EVER drawn wohssjjsh

Hi hello so in celebration of WTIHT chapter 20 I did some stuff and made a new reference sheet for Jekyll and Edward, as well as some height charts!!

Those drawings and some fun facts about the fic will be under the cut :)))

OKAY SO FIRST OF ALL: THE FACTS.

-WTIHT Jekylls theme is a harpsichord!

-WTIHT Edwards thème is some form do overly out of tune piano he deems terrifying, but is really just. Like. Mildly spooky.

-WTIHT Uttersons theme is a violin!

-TGS Jekyll and Hyde don’t have theme songs, neither does OG Jekyll/Hyde.

-If you were to say ‘oh yeah this Jekyll and Hyde related oc would be funny in wtiht’ technically it’s cannon if you want it to be!!

-WTIHT is based off of Across the Spiderverse. My editor, Ash, has also compared it to the Underverse lmao.

-Out if every named character, Utterson is the tallest.

-Wtiht Jekyll is my favorite to draw. His hair is so fun worhejs

Since I already seen a post on Edward’s design choices, I’m curious what was the inspiration for Jekyll’s design? Like do you based him on a musical cast actor? Or your personal preference? Things like that.

HI HELLO IVE BEEN WAITING TO TALK SBOUT THIS AND JUST HAVNT YET AJDHSJSH

Jekylls design is based mainly off of personal preference and how I imagined him in my head when I first read the original novella!! I also gave him long hair because one; I love that design idea for Jekyll and think it’s super neat! I took inspo from the musical in that effect. And two; It made a great subject for any transformation scene. Because Hyde’s hair is shorter. How would Jekylls hair get shorter? Yeah. Im not gonna say it outright though because the implication is terrifying both to ME and to Jekyll. Because he was still very much so conscious during any transformation. He could see hear and feel what was happening. I also really REALLY love the red/green motif in TGS, so I snatched that too! Jekylls eyes also have opposite light/dark halves to Edward’s which was so I could have a little nod at the ‘opposite halves’ bit. I also think it’s funny he looks more like TGS Hyde than TGS Jekyll. Jekylls Eyes are a huuuge part of his design too!! As I mentioned before him and Edward have got an opposite eye thing going on, not just colour wise either. Jekylls eyes are darker on the bottom and lighter on the top while Edward’s are lighter on the bottom and darker on the top. I kinda think this gives Jekyll a neat little effect where he looks MUCH more worn out and tired than Edward does!! I also really liked the idea of Jekyll having little circle Victorian Glasses, but never actually decided wether or not I wanted him to HAVE said glasses. Hence we get that sometimes he wears glasses and sometimes he just doesn’t. I think it’s because he’s stubborn and refuses to wear his damned glasses for anything that doesn’t require fine detail vision like reading, writing or alchemy/doctor stuff. The glasses don’t really have arms on them though when I draw them so it’s beyond me how they stay on his face. For the rest of Jekylls clothes I went with the THS red/brown/warm colours theme. Originally it was meant to be just a TGS au but then @fanartsandstuff (sorry for the ping!!) drew an amazing photo of wtiht Jekyll with a darker vest and I fell in love with that idea!! So credits to them for that part of the design!! I also loooooovvveee gradients on my designs so of course he gets a little gradient on his pants and when I’m in shading occasionally the rest of his clothes too lmao.

Anyways I apologize for how long that was, I just think a lot about my character designs and how I execute them woshishahs

Definatelymrhyde’s guide to Worse Than I Had Thought and it’s giant TGSxOther Jekyll and Hyde universe crossovers

Okay so WTIHT is gonna start getting real confusing as of now. So for the convenience of the however many people read it, my editor @jekyll-everything and even myself I’m making a short little guide to explain it!! It’s even completed with Drawings!!

There’s a short summary of the basic plot without spoilers, then how to differentiate the different characters from all the different universes!!

Short story summary for simplicity reasons

Worse than I had thought is based on this idea: TGS Jekyll gets caught up in some experiment that used lots of chemicals and lightning, something happens and he ends up in another dimension where one; It’s in the perpetual state of being a musical, and two; There’s another Jekyll and Hyde there! And a Murderer! Wow! It seems really simple until you get into later in the story…

It was initially meant to be a crack fic but then I started taking it seriously. So now it’s like.. a real actual story.. it’s still partially a comedy with lots of jokes, though!!

SPOILER ALERT FOR CHAPTERS 14/15 FROM THIS POINT ON I GUESS.

THE CHARACTERS!!

This is all the Jekyll and Hyde’s you will meet. First and foremost, the main men themselves, TGS Jekyll and Hyde! We call them Henry and Hyde in the fic. Alternatively, we also call them ‘Society Jekyll/Hyde, and Henry had an Alias ‘Henry Wallace.’ Hyde doesn’t have an alias because plot points and I forgot to give him one.

Second, WTIHT Jekyll and Edward! Their universe is where everyone gets stuck. This Jekyll JUST created Hyde and probably hates himself for it. We call these two Jekyll and Edward . Or Musical Jekyll and Edward. They’re not the ones from the musical though. Theyre universe is a mish mash of a bunch of different Jekyll and Hyde univserses! They’re kind of like my own adaptation of the story in a way!

And last but not least, OG Book Jekyll and Hyde!! We call him Dr. Jekyll, The Doctor or Mr. Hyde. This Jekyll and Hyde story is the OG where Hyde is like a spooky alchemical induced Flesh costume and just the same conciousness. However, Jekyll refuses to admit that they’re literally the same conciousness out of pure being a terrible person.

Then there’s some other dudes.

Like the board of govonors who are really non-important.

BUT

This universe has its own Utterson! And it’s Own Lanyon!! Surprise!!

Utterson is essentially the TGS Lanyon of the WTIHT Universe, being WTIHT Jekylls BFF.

WTIHT Lanyon and WTIHT Jekyll however…

We’re gonna say that they’re not on talking terms…

Lucy and Emma/Lisa from the musical are also mentioned!! I’m not sure yet if we will ever see them but they DO make a really cute couple, at least their WTIHT versions do..

Sir Danvers Carew MIGGGT be mentioned later on. Still unsure of that. But like. Oh well. He’s pretty cool. He’s Emma/Lisas father and is very eccentric but just.. understands nothing of what’s happening. He is blissfully unaware but he’s a real good guy I promise.

Anyways, There is also tons of world building for the WTIHT universe that I’m not going to get into right now because I’m gonna be real with you here, it’s long. So that’s all for now!!!

Oh man, you know what I just realized in the Anne-Marie in WTIHT AU?

Anne-Marie knows Jekyll and Hyde are one and the same. Those two don’t know that she knows. Anne-Marie didn’t let them know that she knows.

Could you imagine the chaos of Henry and Jekyll trying to explain away both Hyde and Edward while Anne-Marie’s just standing there with a strained smile on her face? 🤣

BAHAHAHA THATS AMAZING

I just imagine like:

Henry: “The reason Hyde is here?? Um. He’s. He. Got into whatever chemical-electric mixture brought us here too! Just. Like. From far away!!”

While Anne-Marie is just sitting there, nodding and smiling in the best ‘yes, father, I completely believe you’ fashion she can manage

I’d also like to add that there’s a good possibility the stress of trying to explain everything would just overwhelm Wtiht Jekyll and cause him to just transform right then and there lmao
